Solid place for some local beer and pub food. They have a very spacious indoor dining area and it wasn't hard to find a table at 7:00 on a Saturday night. The only real bummer is that their gorgeous outdoor patio wasn't open because of a prior rainstorm (even though the storm had totally cleared)! In any case, great service, food and brews made for a top notch experience. My kids enjoyed their pizza and chicken tenders, and the chicken tacos were really well made and came with three overstuffed tacos. Druthers has four locations - we've also eaten at their spot in downtown Saratoga. They do a great job and we'd definitely return again if in the area. read more

What a beautiful night to sit outside on this great patio area. They also had a guy playing guitar so that also added to an amazing night. Have thought for a while that the food has been going downhill but tonight I feel it was like old times. I was excited to see a new menu item the super Todd burger and it was everything I was hoping it would be. Fantastic! We also tried the Caesar salad pizza as an app out of curiosity and that was unique and amazing. Will definitely be spending some time here this summer!! Only four stars because our server was just ok. My daughter also got ice cold French fries which they corrected. Overall it was a great night. read more

Th ambience is cool and inviting. The people working there were beyond nice. I can't speak on the beer because I don't drink. They food was good. Not great but really good. Burger was great. Had the Mac & cheese flights but it was a bit lack luster. Although the different Mac & cheese items were covered in different toppings.....they all kinda taste the same. They give you chips and a house dip for the table which were tasty. read more

Ate for 30 minutes with family, just because we were above 4 people there was auto gratuity involved that wasn't mentioned at all. Terrible communication. I don't mind leaving a tip that's usually what I do when I go out but when it's forced on me for a waiter that just brought over water, ( not even our food ) it feels very disrespectful to not mention it. The service wasn't worth an automatic tip. If you are eating with a large party, don't go here. That's why people go to the bunker a couple doors down. read more

This place was great! Clean, excellent ambiance with tv's, a good crowd, and the service was phenomenal! I had a cranberry gin fizz and they did NOT skimp on the gin! The bang bang shrimp was far too mild. Maybe offer it in different "hotness " . The pretzel bites were very good. The parmesan fries had too much oil at the bottom. Our server Issi was wonderful! We like to offer improvement so owners can serve better menu items. read more

I wish I could give 3.5 stars: the vibe of this place is cool, the beer menu is extensive and what we tried was great, but the food leaves a bit to be desired. When I order a fried chicken sandwich, I wasn't expecting a chicken patty on a roll. I'd come here for the bar, but the food was not impressive. read more

First visit to not just Druthers Schenectady but Druthers in general. Sat at the bar and had appetizers and drinks. My husband and I shared the bang bang shrimp and the famous pretzels with beer cheese. For drinks, I had peach cider which I think was their own and my husband got a spicy margarita. Both drinks were great. The peach cider was very light. Portion for the pretzels was a little much for two people. I would recommend if you are with a bigger group. read more

Food was delish- we filled up a bit on the apps so we just enjoyed the downtime. Games and family friendly. Service was fantastic.

Druthers is one of our go to spots for crispy chicken sandwiches and mac & cheese. I'm always disappointed when they change their menu and they don't do the special chicken sandwiches anymore. It's a really laid-back environment where you can sit back have some good appetizers and food and a few drinks with your friends. We order takeout from here too, and it always comes fresh. read more

The drinks were delicious. Drink specials and beers alike. But the atmosphere and food were oozing major amounts of meh. The dining room felt a bit like a giant Burger King dining room. The lighting wasn't flattering. Most of all, the food was ok. Kind of tasteless. The server was spot on, though. And the bathrooms were clean! read more

Three of us came here last night. The service was terrible - it was like we were the invisible customers. There were tons of people on staff, but they all ignored us. Very strange. When we walked in, there were all kinds of employees milling around, but no one offered to seat us. And the restaurant was not busy. Finally, someone asked if we'd been helped - he seemed surprised that we hadn't been. It was like everyone assumed that someone else was helping us. Poor training. Once we were seated, we got menus, and then waited. And waited. And waited. Again, there were lots of staff chatting with each other, rolling up silverware, etc., but no one came to bring us water or take a drink order. Again, the restaurant was not busy. I was getting really pissed and was about to get up to ask someone to please come serve us, when finally our waitress came over. By this point, it was too late. The food was fine and it's a cool atmosphere, but if you ignore the customers who are there to give you their money, then you've already lost. read more

The atmosphere-A multitude of empty tables, inside and out, the hostess tells us that she can set us much faster inside. (who is she kidding). The windows appear to be washed with dirty dishwater. Horrible! Service - Not great. the waitress started out fast, seemed a little taken back by several in our party ordering just water. Palette of drinks come and waitress walked away with the last persons soda. Food - Underwhelming, limited menu choices, price point rather elevated in perspective of flavor of selections. The chicken sandwiches in spite of jalapeno ranch dressing was nearly not flavored. Two orders of barbecue macaroni and cheese seemed to be very bland pork in the mac and cheese, most everyone expected some flavor of barbecue or barbecue sauce on the pork. Overall - Saddened to say never again. For the price I would sooner take my chances with a food truck. read more

Was able to visit Druthers Harborside for lunch with a friend recently. We did not have a reservation but were seated very quickly. All the ladies on staff that day were extremely kind and attentive. My friend and I ordered the Strawberry Fields salad and the Mediterranean grains salad. Both salads were very good. My only complaint would be that the crispy chick peas tasted like very old frier oil. I would not only suggest that they change their frier oil because I imagine everything fried on the menu must also taste like old oil but also that they just opt to roast their chick peas instead of having them taste greasy. Otherwise it was a very nice salad! Overall I had a good experience. read more

Food is great here. However the service leaves much to be desired. Multiple times I've come here the servers are unable to describe beers and unaware of any happy hour etc. (even though I called in advance to see if they had happy hour). Came in today with the place pretty empty and was planning to have a few beers and play a board game. Unfortunately, we were told they could not accommodate our party of 3 at a 6 person table. Understandable- if there was a wait or if it was packed. It was empty (see photos). Really disappointed as I actually love the beer and food here. All that being said - not a place to play a board game and chill. read more

Placed a takeout order for wings and a couple of other items. Paid $19.00 for eight wings!!! Found the food to be incredibly overpriced.

I stop here every time when I stay at the hotel nearby. The local beer selection is great. Bartenders are friendly and plenty of room for seating. Food selection is somewhat limited and I think that is great! What they have on the menu is amazing. THREE LITTLE PIGS MAC is so good and if you can eat the whole thing in one sitting, bless you. It was one of those "don't feel like cooking tonight" kind of nights and so we zipped over and were given a table in the bar area near the shiny brewery tanks. It was surprisingly quiet, almost cozy in this section and the wait staff was super welcoming. I chose to get the boneless chicken wings with sauce on the side and those tender nuggets were enormous, tender, and very well seasoned. We had leftovers and made a pretty delicious chicken sandwich the next day. Hubby's burger was overflowing with toppings and the oozy egg was the crowning glory. Beers were delish. The vibe was chill on a Monday night and just what we were looking for. I think this could become our "everybody knows your name" spot. Cheers! read more

Met a friend for a regular lunch time chat. We picked Druthers since I had never been to one. Food was a little better than your typical "bar food." Was a large enough menu to give everyone a good choice. Friend had a burger which did look good. I had the shrimp taco's. They were quite good. Sufficient number of shrimp to get a little shrimp with each bite. Sauce was spicy enough without scaring those who do not like spice. View is good, conversation was good, staff were quick and efficient. Parking is good. Location seems to work whether it's this venue. How's the beer? No clue as I didn't have any. Yes, there's beer as well. read more

me and my friend were sat at a filthy table outside that was not cleaned. when we politely asked the waitress for our table to be cleaned, she just drenched a wash cloth with water and wiped our table in awkward silence, so our table was soaking in water I had to dry it with napkins after she left. We were not rude at all, we politely asked and its also common sense not to sit guest and a dirty disgusting table with food crumbs/stickyness all over. we didn't even get a "I'm sorry about that" first time going there last time going and I'll let all my other friends know as well read more

Have had good experiences at the Saratoga and Clifton Park locations, so decided to try Schenectady as it was local to where we were staying. Major disappointment. Everyone's food was very bland. The bbq Mac and cheese just had plain chunks of pork or chicken and the chicken sandwiches despite being piled with various items including a jalapeno condiment had no taste. And it was on the pricey side for what we got. Will not be going back. read more

The atmosphere here is great. It's right on the Mohawk harbor and walking distance to Rivers casino. We came for a quick drink but decided to order food too. The beers are OK and the food is ok. We didn't love the appetizer choices... lots of dips and lots of cheese. So if you're lactose intolerant this menu is not for you. Both the monkey bread and street corn dip were fine. I didn't hate anything but didn't love anything. Both lacked a little bit of flavor. I'll be back for atmosphere alone. read more

Food and ambiance are pretty good - service and prices are not. We were driving through on a road trip with our toddler and ordered a few apps and a kids meal. The server made it abundantly clear when we didn't order more food and drinks that she couldn't be bothered with us - for example not bringing us plates, refilling water, not bringing dressing we asked for, cold attitude when politely asked etc. Atmosphere is very cool - right on the river with a nice patio. We got boneless bbq wings, chicken chimi egg rolls a kids grilled cheese and a milkshake. All were pretty good. We were just disappointed when we saw the bill, given the terrible service. read more

Very spacious and easy to get seated. Waitress was very attentive and checked in on us within reason. We ordered some beers or flights along with a few of the shareables. Some good variety of beers, sad more aren't on draft because some of the cans sounded very appealing. For the food, two were new releases. The smashed poutine and burnt bacon ends were new, and we ordered the beer dip. Oh my. The pretzels that when along with the beer dip were wayyy better than auntie Anne's pretzels. They were like if fried dough and a soft pretzel had a baby. And the dip was delish. For the newer menu items I hope those burnt bacon ends never leave the menu... the sauce was a vibrant color and was a mixture of sweet and spicy. The peanuts along with it were an oddly perfect pairing. We'll be back Druthers! read more

Every Druthers is different enough to be distinct, and I like some better than others, with this one now at the top of the "like" list. I like the atmosphere of this one, and I found the service to be the friendliest and most efficient. They've revised their menu YET AGAIN, and many old favorites are still not there. But that doesn't mean I can't find new favorites on the menu, and tonight it was their apple, walnut, Gorgonzola salad with a perfectly grilled salmon filet on top. The current beer list also features a Mexican chocolate infused stout, something I'll always try if it's on a menu, and also something I really enjoyed. The bar area doesn't seem large enough for the potential crowds there, but there's certainly enough table space nearby if you're only coming in for a drink. With all the equally good craft beers in - or coming to - the Capital District/Saratoga area, it's nice to see Druthers is still a good option. read more

We only had time to have a beer while at this location. The location was a quick walk from the hotel we were staying at. We did have a 20 minute wait to be seated. Outdoor seating was good for walk ups but for indoor seating you need to be added to a waitlist. I had the key lime sour. I don't like key lime pie but I was surprised that I really enjoyed this sour. If we are in the area again, we would love to try their food. read more

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday with a group of friends before I headed to the train station to go back to the city. There seems to be a lot of new breweries popping up left and right in the area, and this business seems to be doing well with three locations, although I've never heard of them until now. I ordered their darkest beer that they had to offer, which was the Irish Stout ($7). Flavorful and rich in flavor as expected for a stout. Unfortunately it was the only stout they had to offer at the time. So what do you do? You order the same drink a second time. For appetizers, we got an order of the Beer Cheese Dip ($13), which are Bavarian style pretzels and comes with a druthers 7-cheese blend dip. These things are amazing and I could eat these all day. For entree, I ordered the Loaded Mac ($16), which consisted of bacon, smoked chicken, drizzled with BBQ sauce and ranch. I honestly did not need a full size and could have been fine with just a side portion as it is such a carb heavy meal. I definitely had leftovers, which were still just as good as it was served in the skillet. Besides food and drinks, service is fantastic. Super attentive and friendly. The waitress made sure to check up on us occasionally for refills and whatnot. read more

I've always loved Druthers, but my recent visit to the Schenectady location left me seriously disappointed. My girlfriend and I went last week after work, and we were told was the first day of the new menu. Somehow, we walked out having paid $100 for three small appetizers and three drink. Nothing we had felt remotely worth the price. The Bavarian pretzels were fine. Nothing to write home about, but decent enough. Then came the Mexican street corn dip, which the menu described as "charred local corn." Naturally, I expected something warm and grilled, like actual street corn. Instead, it looked and tasted like canned corn dumped into a tiny bowl, topped with a sprinkle of grated parmesan cheese, some seasoning, and a few chips haphazardly thrown around the plate. That alone was $16, which is laughable for what we got. But the real offense was the waffle fry nachos. The menu made them sound amazing: guajillo chile-marinated strip steak, house queso, pico, pickled shallots, jalapeño ranch, and avocado crema. What we got was a pile of undercooked but somehow over-crisped waffle fries, maybe a half cup of steak, and a drowning mess of jalapeño ranch and avocado crema. It was so over-sauced that eating it felt more like drinking a bottle of avocado ranch. Nineteen dollars for that. Service didn't help either, we waited almost 20 minutes in an almost empty restaurant before our server even came to the table to place our drink order, and when the beers finally arrived, they were barely colder than room temperature. I want to give the benefit of the doubt since it was the first day of the new menu, and I truly do love Druthers as a brand. But this experience at the Schenectady location was awful, and it'll be a long time before I go back there. read more

The location is great. The harbor view outside is really pretty and the inside is nice. Service is always fine and friendly. I do feel like the price is starting to outrun the quality. I know things are more expensive across the board, but the price for quality is down (even the crayons for the kids' meals are no longer Crayola, but they're 50% more expensive than pre-lockdown, hah). Druthers used to be on the top of my list of places to go, but its appeal has diminished. read more

The 1 percent credit card surcharge.... Quality has declined over the years and getting cheap with customers never ends well.

We love Druthers! It is a spot we frequent often, whether in Schenectady, Albany, or Clifton park. This was our first time trying the birria quesadilla and it was great! The beer flight is also a great deal if you want to try several of their many good options on tap. The one point off was because we have gotten their mac & cheese many times before and it is always awesome, but for some reason this time it was a lot more liquidy than usual. It seems like maybe too much milk was added or some thing, but it did not hit the spot the way it usually does :( I think this was a fluke though and we will definitely be back still! read more

On top of that, their homemade chips with that dipping sauce, I have had nothing like it. Went about a month ago with my husband. Food was great. I love the house made veggie burger. We had great service. We rarely go out these days. However the other day it was freezing out and we were starving after shopping. We had our two kids with us. I said let's go back to Druthers bc it was so good the other week! Unfortunately this time around the waitress was pretty cold. They were not busy. But people have off days. My daughter's water tastes like sour mix. So we got her a vanilla shake which she enjoyed. Everyone got different mac and cheese and i got the Thanksgiving rolls. Which I saw online they looked amazing. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The restaurant was very slow. All 3 Mac and cheese were less then room temperature. My husbands looked like it had been sitting out it was all hard on top. Not cold but not room temperature. My rolls were almost black and rock hard. However we were all starving. I cracked them open to salvage what was inside of two of the. The gravy was room temperature. If that. We didn't say anything bc honestly we were so tired and cold and hungry. Noone wanted to bring alllllll the leftovers home. But I asked anyways for boxes. The next day I put it in a pan to heat up. I will say it was VERY good when actually hot! I should have said something I know. But I didn't want anything for free. Or compted. It wasn't the waitress fault and she was clearly having a bad night to begin with. Hopefully it was a fluke of a bad experience bc we do usually enjoy it. read more

The food and beer selection was decent. The place just seemed a little too generic on the inside so the ambiance was not that great

This is definitely one of my most favorite places to visit for lunch or dinner in Schenectady. They have A LOT of tables available, so I've never had to wait long. Druthers Schenectady is where we often end up for a delicious meal after a few hours of drinking at Frog Alley and/or Wolff's. It is also a regular spot for us to visit for Friday lunches with office mates. During a recent Friday lunch we discuss how each of us had never ordered any meal not worth finishing while at Druthers. We have held a handful of work dinners here when we are hosting out of towners, ranging from 4 to 20 people, and it's always a delight. And I love that the menu rotates per season, but always has a few favorite staples. It is the perfect mix of letting me rely on standards for recommendations[Barley Salad! Druthers Burger! Loaded Mac!,] while also giving me new dishes to try when our events are more frequent. I love going to Druthers during the winter, but I am eager to visit in the warm weather and take advantage of the being on the river with outdoor seating. This is a must visit for Schenectady visitors, IMHO. read more

We had been to their Albany location a couple of times in the past (pre-COVID) but came here because of the outdoor seating. We had a good meal and good beer. My wife and I shared a flight and enjoyed the beautiful, late-summer day. I had their Buffalo Mac & cheese, which was enormous and delicious. My wife had their Caesar salad with chicken and enjoyed it, too. Our service was a little lacking, but not bad. Just not as good as I would hope for. We also grabbed a couple of 4-packs to go. This place was cute, I was visiting my friends in Schenectady and we decided to go out to eat. Upon arrival no one was standing at the hostess stand to greet us and one girl walked by and saw us and kept it pushing, idk if I worked there I'd be like "hey blah blah blah people are at the front" The food was good, I ordered pizza which you can't go wrong with but I would have appreciated whole pieces of basil instead of the cut up basil they threw on the pizza. Where we were seated was weird idk felt a bit racist walking in and through the whole experience. We were the only brown people there but idk the staff was weird. I will probably not come back here. It was going to start raining too and no one offered if we wanted to go inside and we had no umbrella on our outdoor table. Idk not my cup of tea honestly. read more
