1 because I have to leave a review. They are unprofessional, misguiding customers JUST to get business, poor work quality and ethics. Over a year to install Tesla Powerwall without any updates, stating their installers are construction workers and are not skilled to do clean work and so customers have to put up (see pictures). Designing critical loads w/o customer involvement as customers find half backed up critical load at power-outages. When reported to Solar Tech project manager Paul LaShomb, one finds him angry and mad that customers are reaching out to him post installation, asking for $500 a circuit. Gino Salvaggio, is their sales rep, falsely assuring customers to lure contracts. After giving Gino business for first 2 powerwalls, I went with LA Solar for other 2 power walls, and no issues. In fact, they don't collect any funds and whole thing is funded by SGIP. Keep away from Paul and Gino at Solartech who bring shame to others at SolarTech read more

I can't give a high enough rating for these guys. The tldr is that Brad communicates great, the crew works fast and conscientiously, they quoted us a good price, and they went out their way to meet our needs. The long version is that I got bids from 6 different companies to replace our entire roof. Roofing by SolarTech made 2 separate trips out to make sure they gave me an accurate quote and they were the only ones to identify that we had the original cedar shake still on the roof. Brad quoted us a few thousand more than the other companies and pointed out that it may be because the other folks didn't bother to check inside the attic. He was right. When I mentioned the original shingles to the other companies they all changed their quotes, most to a higher quote than Roofing by SolarTech. Brad knew what he was doing and made an effort to give us an honest quote rather than trying to fleece us. That said everything to us about the kind of business this was. They even managed to squeeze our job in weeks ahead of schedule. When the crew came to do the work we weren't there but our neighbors commented on how the crew worked like real pros, were respectful, cleaned up beautifully at the end of each day, and even swept my neighbor's driveway just in case there were any stray nails from the tear-off! read more

After learning that we could install solar panels for no money down, we received 3 quotes for the job, Palomar Solar, Sunrun and SolarTech. Palomar Solar gave me a quote without ever looking at our Electricity bills which we thought was odd. Sunrun was way out of the ballpark and SolarTech was the least expensive. Additionally Mark, SolarTech's Rep spent a few hours with us looking over past SDGE bills and asking about future electricity usage. He was very thorough and explained the entire process in detail. We needed to replace our old roof before the solar panels could be installed. SolarTech worked seamlessly with our roofer (Sequoia Roofing) telling them exactly where the panel supports needed to be placed. Mark was great throughout the entire process and never tried to hard sell us or pressure us into getting his system. read more

Customer service is excellent. I had lots of questions along the way as we added on to our existing SunPower panels. I never had to wait long for a response. The company rep for us was Ali Ibrahim and he stayed involved in the process until the end, making sure everything got done on schedule. Every single worker was professional and pleasant. They made everything go smoothly! I highly recommend this company. read more

Ken Lee (Great guy) came to my house and sold me a pool Solar system. They made an appointment came that day and finished the install. Installers were really nice and answered all my questions. Damian our project manager with really great customer service took care of us to the fullest. Great deal, fast service, reliable and exceptional customer service . Thank you everyone that helped in this project. read more

We went with SolarTech for our pool solar, and I have been very impressed with them throughout the entire process. Jason, the owner, came out to give the initial bid. Extremely knowledgeable, informative, personable, and not pushy in any way. We had other companies out that seemed to have good reviews, but SolarTech was the most knowledgeable, thorough, and amazingly enough the best price. Their work was even better. Very clean work, quick, and thorough. I don't recall the lead installer we had, but he was very good and had extreme attention to detail. I had an older return valve for a water feature and he insisted on replacing it too (no cost) because he didn't want it to reflect on his work. A week or so after the job, a box of brownies was shipped to the door. One of my daughters even said they were the best brownies she's ever had, much to my wife's chagrin. Just another example of that extra touch that sets SolarTech above and beyond the competition. When we finally get solar electric, you can bet SolarTech will be the first company we call. read more

I recently had an small fire in my main electrical panel and the fire department was called to assist . Without power and unsure of the cause I called both SDGE and Solar tech ( Mark Albano ) to notify them both what had occurred. Instantly Mark Albano assisted and sent a notice to his office and In just a short bit of time Grant Magoffin was at my residence to review the damage and offer assistance. While the damage and cause were completely unrelated to the solar itself Grant actually helped me to get some power restored and my electrical main turned back on ....... who does that!!!!! Solar Tech does that ! These folks are just incredible and since my initial purchase of the system almost 1.5 years ago I have received remarkable service .Many thanks to the entire Solar tech team !!! read more

We have been looking to getting solar for the last two years and have spoken to a handful of different companies. Many of whom weren't up front with the cost. Worked with Ryan Bertel and his team, These guys were very straight forward, honest and professional. Installation took only a couple of days and the unit looks amazing compared to my neighbors unit had solar and pool heater installed. Would definitely recommend to anyone, friends, family and neighbors. read more

We had called to repair a leak in our solar hot-water pool heating system. The technician, Sean, arrived early (after calling ahead) and not only repaired the leak and tightened all connections, but also replaced two failed sensors in the thermostat. We had neglected to mention that the thermostat wasn't working when we made the original call, but Sean was able to take care of it anyway. All work was completed for less than the average cost to the auto shop! I am impressed by SolarTech's prompt response, professional work, and the fact that they did not try to hard-sell me on immediately replacing my older system. I expect to be calling them back when it's time to replace. read more

Professional and friendly. Couldn't be happier with my service. No salesman pressure, no fast talking pitch. These guys came in with friendly personable approach and talked honestly about their services and the pricing. I had previous solar companies come out to give me a quote and not only were they lower than the others, they explained how everything was going to work and why their equipment was a great value. The warrantee is one of the longest I've seen. I did my research. Some solar can be out of warrantee in as little as 5 years. The team came out the very next day to install and my pool is already warm! My kids and my dogs are loving it, and me too! My pool service (St. Nicky's Pool Service) even commented that the solar set up I have is better than the set ups some of his other customers have. The owner, Jason, was a dream to work with. Highly recommend. read more

What an AWESOME experience from beginning to end from SolarTech. My wife and I have been looking for solar for quite some time, and was specifically recommended by my brother-in-law to check out their system. My brother-in-law went with a "another" solar company which we received our initial quote. As I wanted to do my homework, I reached out to SolarTech and two other solar companies for their review and quotes of our property. Ali from SolarTech was AMAZING. He came to our home very prepared and had a lot of knowledge about Solar. Ali was never pushy or bias towards any products or companies, and always provided us with his honest opinion. After obtaining quotes from several solar companies, Ali was always available to answer any questions we had. He responded quickly and cordially. I could not say this about other companies who would find ways to degrade other competitors. For example, one competitor gave me an ultimatum to make a decision by a certain date or time. That really turned us off and we immediately crossed them off our list. On the other hand, Ali always kept his calm and as noted before, never pressured myself or my wife. Finally, after a few weeks of doing our homework, we contacted Ali and told him that we wanted to meet him one more time. Ali was generous and took his time to swing by and answered all of our questions very thoroughly. We made our decision on July 10, 2018 and went with SolarTech. Once we signed everything online with SolarTech, I was immediately contacted by their Manager Ashley who provided a detailed outline of the process. I was then in contact with Jasmine (Project Coordinator) who was in constant communication with me throughout the next several weeks. Keep in mind, Ali was always available for any questions as well (thanks Ali). Jasmine helped me with all the necessary plans and pictures for our HOA approvals, SDG&E transition, City approvals, coordination of the installation dates (installers, Victor and team, were very friendly and the job was very clean), and then final confirmation to operate Solar after City inspection. Thank you Charlene for being there during the City inspection and explaining everything from reading the meter, breakers, and SunPower app. You are awesome!! All in all, I never felt alone in this entire process. Everyone at SolarTech were amazing, professional, detailed, collaborative, and communicated to us in every step of the process. If you are looking for a Solar, SolarTech is the team to go with. You won't regret it, and you'll have a product that will last for years, with great warranty and performance. SolarTech is an A+ company with A+ people! Call SolarTech and ask for Ali. He is the MAN who is very patient and will answer all your questions truthfully. Thank you SolarTech!! read more

We just had our solar panel system installed by SolarTech this week and are very happy with how smooth the installation went. It is rare to have a contractor go thru and not have screw ups but SolarTech's install went perfect ! Our Sales guy Mark Albano ( 619. 495.1587 ) and the SolarTech team helped us through whole process and was very helpful in getting all paperwork and approvals for our Historic home. We selected SolarTech simply on their use of SunPower panels, most efficient in the industry which every other manufacturer seems to want to compare to their own panels which speaks volumes. Looking forward to having system turned on in next week or two and saving us money on our electric bills. ( SDGE passed a huge increase in July of this year and going to raise rates again next year. Does not make sense not to go solar ) read more

Laura and team made this purchase easy. The experience was great. The process was fast, communication was excellent, install team was professional and efficient. Would definitely recommend! read more

I selected Solartech because it had the best reviews. Solartech exceeded my expectations - I kept telling my wife, this is worth every penny. Jason is great - he gave me a very competitive quote. I did both the solar heater and new pump controls. Mark showed up a few weeks later to install my new pump and auto controller. Mark was awesome! He gave me a class on how to program my pump - he gave me his cell and his email. I emailed him about 6 weeks later because I screwed up one of the settings and he responded right back and walked me through the process to fix my error. The pool heater guys came out a few weeks after the pump was installed and installed my solar heater. The technicians were great - they walked me through the install, where pipes were going - gave me options if I didn't like the locations. At the end of the job, the technician walked me through the programming and answered all of my questions. Even when I called the office for info on my rebates, they were very responsive to my needs. They really really want to make sure that you are satisfied. Jason said that from his initial visit 'we want to make sure you are satisfied' and it was very obvious throughout the process that his company lives by it. read more

I highly recommend SolarTech! What a fantastic company! We got three of the top Yelp rated company's to bid our solar project and SolarTech was far a above the most professional organization. From product selection to project management, they far exceeded our expectations. This was no easy project with 20 full size panels and required an upgrade of our power line from 100 WT to 200 was a whole new aspect to the project. Steve Brunton, Janet Solis, and Ashley Garrsion were all top notch professionals! If you are looking at Solar, using SolarTech made it a easy process with high quality equipment. read more

Another great experience with the SolarTech team. Jaime and Joaquin were awesome- showed up on time and were professional and informative. They were able to detect and solve our issue. It is so refreshing to have a company be so responsive. We are very happy that we went with SolarTech for our home's solar system! Thank you for the great service!! read more

Solartech did a great job for us. We had three different companies come out and give us prices - Solartech was the best deal. Ali, our salesman, was knowledgeable, did a great job understanding our solar needs, and kept us updated throughout the process. I would recommend this company. read more

Top notch service. Our experience began with Ali ibrahim who was responsive, friendly and professional. Ali solutioned our solar for home and pool, led us through contracting and continued to field questions throughout our install. If Ali wasn't able to answer our question, he quickly connected us to others on his team who could. Our install was delayed due to rain, but Solar Tech managed the schedule tightly from roofing to pool solar to HPV to get our install done as close to the original timeline as possible. The entire team was very responsive throughout the whole process. read more

Great company!!! Pete is very honest and reliable and quick to communicate. Highly reputable and I definitely recommend them!!!

My wife and I have purchased panels through SolarTech twice now. Their customer service as far as sales and installation are top notch. Their customer service in regards to warranty issues though leaves much to be desired. They blame you, they blame SunPower, and don't return calls. It got to the point where I had to file a formal complaint against them through SunPower. SolarTech has 3.5/5 stars on the Better Business Bureau website. Check out the reviews there, they are almost identical to ours. read more

My wife and I had Solartech install our system this past summer. While there were a few bumps along the road to completion, we felt confident in SolarTech's ability to finish and do a good job. Ultimately, everything was completed and we are very happy with our system. Ali was great throughout the process in answering questions and taking care of our concerns when issues arose. So far, we've saved hundreds on our electricity bill and we've already survived our first big rain with no issues with the roof. read more

Very fast and friendly, and after comparing prices, they were far and away the most affordable that I found. They also were more than willing to work with me on my smaller 11-panel system and let me adjust and modify it as I wanted. Thanks Solartech! read more

1.5 months later and the pool heater is working great! I talked to a few different people but Jason was the most personable and knowledgeable. He came out and did a free estimate and answered all of my questions. The installation went great and the pool is easily increasing in temp 10 degrees+ (I live in Cardiff). I actually had to turn the max temperature down because it was feeling more like a bath tub on the warmer days, so I don't even know how high it can go. The only issue I had was a very minor drip leak in one of the pipes. They came out and fixed it immediately. The first 6 months we lived here (Jan-Jun) the kids wouldn't even go into the pool because it was too cold, now we are in there an hour every night. Great investment! read more

Great experience and very knowledgeable and friendly. Thanks for quick response and quality job. Would highly recommend this company.

Great customer service from sales rep Steve. Steve was easy to contact an cared about his customers. the pricing was good. They were on time and professional. They would follow up to see if the solar panels and meters worked. I Would recommend them. read more

Damien came over and assessed our system and was very thorough with his explanations. He answered all of my questions and helped me to learn how to troubleshoot the solar heating panels to our pool. He was very easy to interact with and very professional. Highly recommended. read more

This company is excellent. My entire experience was fantastic. I installed with them December 2018. I have to specifically point out Ali, he was the sales representative. Did not try to sell me, delivered what he promised and was great to do business together. I requested quotes from 4 different companies; the top ranked here on yelp (including solar tech) had the best prices and best equipment (I researched). The installation process was easy, very quick and on time. There was even rain in the forecast for the scheduled installation day; so they called me and rescheduled for a day early. Overall great experience. I monitor my system online and so far working great. read more

SolarTech did a GREAT JOB!! From the beginning with Jason B and the end with a great installation. The customer service kelp you informed with the dates and times. I'm a electrical contractor and a little picky on how thing should e done. The installation was done in a timely fashion and done very well. A++. You won't go wrong going with them. read more

I went with SolarTech because of their superior product and reviews. To give an honest review, I have to break up the experience a bit. The sales rep (Ali) was phenomenal with answering questions and getting back to me at all times of the day/night. The estimate was quick and the numbers were honest. The installation team (Miles, Cesar and crew) were also awesome. They kept my needs in mind and asked my opinion when necessary, which helped me keep the installation inline with my next project, drywalling the garage. The office was very nice, but seemed to be understaffed. After signing an addendum several days prior, they were unaware when I called. Emails were often not seen, whether from me or their counterparts (SDGE & the city). I often followed up with SDGE and the city to ensure a quick timeline, which I found pending/incomplete permit requests. While awaiting my final PTO I found out that the city inspection passed, but the approval has not properly posted. I was able to resolve this, but will note I had to be more involved that I desired. I'm sure if I never followed up, my project would have completed, but my goal was installation before the end of the year. Overall, I think this is a good company, but my involvement should not have been necessary to keep the job moving at a quick pace. read more

I had been thinking about getting solar for my home for a few months. After talking with Ali at Solar Tech I was convinced this is the company I want to go with. He was professional, knowledgeable and a good listener. I have referred Ali to a few of my neighbors in which they signed up with him and are enjoying having free electricity. In my opinion, it's a no brainer to go with Solar Tech. Their pricing is great and customer service is excellent! read more

I waited to post this review until I could give my pool solar a try when it started to heat up.... the solar works great. Was able to get my pool from 68 to 80 degrees in about 5-7 days in the first week of April. Really happy with the installation and efficiency of the solar. Great service and at a reasonable price! read more

When we bought our house, the previous owner had already installed solar heating for the pool. Unfortunately, it looks like they picked the cheapest solar heating they could find, and this year it decided to really start going downhill - leaking, and being horribly inefficient. I called Solartech to ask them about repairing it, and they sent Damien out a few days later who gleefully went up and examined the system, only to declare it beyond repair (technically, "Probably repairable, but it's old and that style isn't even made anymore"). We opted to have the solar system removed, and replaced with a new one, while at the same time moving it to a different place on our roof (to make room for a PV system later). Pricing and scheduling with Solartech was simple, and done 99% via email (yay! Ashley is really responsive!). Actual removal and installation of the new heating system took less than a day, with the end result looking and working great. I highly recommend this company for solar heating installation. When we decide to buy a PV system, they'll be the first ones I call. read more

Terrible customer service. We are new homeowners so we paid SolarTech $150 to come and take a look at our solar heater for our pool since the pump maintenance guy said we had pipes going to out solar panels on the roof. To our surprise the tech that came to the house said the solar panels for the heater were removed by the previous owners. So I asked for a quote to install new ones. That was beginning of March. I followed up a week later and got a text from Damien saying he was going to send the quote by Saturday. Still haven't received it and it's May. read more

We are so sorry we chose this company and definitely would not recommend them at this point. We signed our contract with them in November 2022 and it is now the middle of May and we do not have properly installed functioning panels on our roof. We've experienced problem after problem and numerous delays in getting our solar panels installed PROPERLY. It is also nearly impossible to get anyone to return our calls. They are very quick to request and collect money, but terrible at communicating what's going on with our project. Our latest inspection from the city revealed it failed the inspection on two very important issues, the panels were NOT installed properly. Now they have to replan the project for all of the panels (can't get anyone to tell us how long that will take) and then the electrical panel installation that was NOT done per code and the plan has to be redone. Summer is one month away and NO solar panels. Additionally, when redoing the panel it shorted something so that one of our Ecobee thermostats no longer works, the screen is black and we've been unable to restart it at all. These were just installed last September 2022. I asked them not to process our third payment of $16,000 since the inspection failed, but the only response I received from Evangelina, (Project Coordinator)was she forwarded my request to management, but she had not responded to my reply request to whom in management she forwarded it. Additionally, since that request she has not responded to any of my emails nor voice messages. According to her this payment was due now because it is due upon "substantial completion of equipment and/or materials installed." However, according to California law, "Substantial completion" is the point in a construction project in which the contemplated premises have been completed to point where the owner can move in and use the premises for their intended purposes. Since this is not about us living here, it means the solar panels need to be ready and functional, which sadly they are not!!! We were hesitant to write this review because we fear it might just make our problem worse, but we don't want others to experience this poor technical workmanship, awful lack of communication and extremely poor customer service. read more

I contacted three companies that had many high Yelp ratings. All three were professional. I choose Solar Tech because they could handle moving our existing pool solar and they told us about the program where we can pay for the solar with our property tax payment thus saving us more in taxes. There pricing was also the best just for a kicker. Mick Epperson was my rep and a good, trustworthy guy. In fact after I closed the deal, I realized I had worked with Mick over 20 years ago on several consulting projects. PS: They didn't like the look of our current pool solar panels which were only 4 years old and replaced the, FREE! Not that is value added. read more

I was very impressed with everyone at Solartech. My experience began with working with Ali. He gave me a very reasonable quote that was sized up from my SDG&E bill. We ended up getting 21 panels and a storage battery. I was also very happy with follow-on support from Shauna, Brad, and Grant who worked administration, roofing, and the solar equipment. Questions and issues were resolved immediately. Very professional group -- I would highly recommend them. The interesting part to all this was after the system was in place the power consumption from the online Solaredge monitoring site did not match up with SDG&E. It turned out that SDG&E had swapped meters with another house. Still waiting to find out what our real bill is but we expect due to SDG&E's mistake our system is lot larger than we needed. read more

Jason and Sean (Shawn?) were so amazing...super personable, cheerful and extremely helpful. I'd like to thank solartech for all the hard work and all the great service they have been providing me. They gave me a great deal on my panels warranty installation took a day and a half. The system was up and running in no time and I got a great deal on the panels. I would definitely recommend solartech for their knowledge and experience about the product and the way it works. Most importantly they were not interested in my numbers or Social Security more than sitting down with me dissecting my electricity bill explaining where I was spending a lot of money. After 2 weeks of deciding whether I need solar or not they're were always There to answer any questions I had, I absolutely felt no pressure from them.
