Our experience with SIG has been unacceptable. After installation and payment, SIG solar became largely unreachable. We have made multiple phone calls over the years needing assistance with system issues and were constantly told someone would call us back. Those calls rarely happened, to the point that my husband drove 40 miles to their office just to speak to someone in person - with no resolution. Because SIG solar failed to provide support, WE had to contact the inverter manufacturer, twice in the past few years to get the system functioning, something the installer should have handled. When we just recently realized that we needed our roof replaced, SIG solar charged us $8000.00 to remove and reinstall the panels. We had to pay it because we did not want to do anything to jeopardize our warranty, effectively forcing us into this expense. This company appears focused on sales, not long-term service. For a major investment like solar, this level of non-responsiveness and lack of accountability is unacceptable. Choosing sunrun is a huge mistake! The salespeople are good at saying all the things to get you signed up. Then they disappear, never return any calls, and everytime you do talk to someone they promise to fix the problems then ghost you again. They hooked up the solar all wrong, almost caused a fire, and we were left with a $12,000 true up with PGE! It's been over a year and a half, and I still can't get in touch with anyone to fix it. I've contacted Sig Solar dozens of times over the past year to get a constantly failing Generac inverter fixed. They came out to take a look at it in MAY 2025, and it's now the end of October. I should not have to constantly call them to get my $100,000 solar install working. This is not a one time issue. The last time I had a problem, they played this same game, and it took over a year to get it fixed. This is costing me thousands of dollars in lost energy costs. I've been hemming and having over solar for a while and since the tax rebates are now going away after 2025, I decided now was the time. My sales rep, Damian Fernandez made me feel like a friend and didn't use any high pressure tactics to get me to commit. He came up with a system to put me at net zero with PG&E and presented it to me and my wife. After answering all of our questions and seeing the future savings over continuing to pay the for profit utility provider PG&E, we've made the choice to go solar. Because on initial visit they underestimated how many panels we need to accommodate our usage even after reviewing our pge bills for 1 year. We have a pool and spa I believe it is their job to predict this. Guess what the response is? Well you'll have to buy more panels sorry. Well im sorry too, sorry I used them. I cannot help but wonder how much SIG pays for these reviews. Unfortunately, I had a similar experience to many others. We received great service up front, good on the installation, etc. However, when an inverter went bad, less than two years after installation, they caught it 5 months later. They at least came out and fixed it, but we went through the best energy-producing months (April - October) at 50% inverter capacity. The net result is several thousand dollars extra at true-up this year. When they sold and installed our system, they said monitoring was part of the package, but the person I spoke with today said customers need to monitor and call if they notice anything wrong. The person I spoke with also said they cannot monitor the system without SolarEdge working. However, SIG called me in October and said one of our inverters was not working, so they obviously could still see there was problem. Why did they wait 5-6 months to do something? This was a large install on a farmhouse (over $80k), and they can't even monitor the system. They were quick to point out that Solar Edge is responsible for monitoring, but we have to upgrade our connectivity to 5G...for more money in order for monitoring to continue working. We own three other homes for which we are considering solar. As much as I would love to support local businesses, I can't do this again with SIG. Their poor support and customer service will cost me over $5k in True-Up this year. There is zero chance I ever use or recommend SIG again. Sadly, because of this experience with SIG, I am leery of trusting any locally-owned solar group for the other homes. Fortunately SolarEdge support was helpful and told me I can buy wireless plug-ins or the 5G cards to get back on-line. Unfortunately, I have to call our solar installer to request the parts and install. At this point I am wondering if I could just pay a monthly fee to another Solar company to take over maintenance and monitoring. The thought of giving SIG any more money is sickening. read more

He called the office and they sent me a copy of my solar agreement details right away. Also, on 5/31, a SIG solar tech came out to my home to install the last breaker that was needed to get my system started and up and running. I appreciate the efforts that were made to solve our issues. I do wish it wouldn't have taken this review to get a copy of my solar agreement but we can't change the past. Due to the remedy in the issues I had, I'll be upgrading my rating from a 3 to a 4 star. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ORIGINAL REVIEW: 5/24/23 My rep was Damien Fernandez. He was very informative and genuine upon our initial interactions at the almond blossom festival where we stopped at his booth. However, we have some issues that weren't resolved and it's disappointing considering we spent so much money on this system. We never received some sort of receipt for the project. When I requested this from Damien, he asked for clarification and I told him I wanted to know what I was paying $73,000 for. A simple receipt that would say something along the lines of (panels $50k, labor $20k, permits and other misc costs $3k). So he told me that they don't provide that because "no company provides info to customers regarding how much they're paying for the materials from the manufacturer and how much their mark up costs is and how much the customer ends up paying for it". That wasn't what I was asking for, and of course not something I'd expect any company to provide. I just want to know what I'm paying for. That was back in February and here we are 3 months later. I got the run around of "the office will get back to you", which they didn't. Today is 5/24/23, our system was installed on 5/3/23 and we're still missing a breaker (should be installed next week) and the 'Emphase' app to monitor the usage/output isn't working. Overall, the initial consult was great, the installation/installers were extremely professional, it's just the follow through that has left a sour taste behind. If you're wondering how they have so many reviews, it's because they have their reps compete with each other on who can get the most reviews. So they haggle the customers over and over til they get your review. We purchased 56 panels for our farmhouse which should take care of everything on our property as well as future usage like adding a shop, swimming pool, hot tub etc but my PG&E bill is still $250 to $300 a month on top of $460 solar bill. Maybe we're using too many space heaters. I get that, but when I called to ask about it, no one called back.I came to the conclusion (by myself since no one called back) that I may need a battery back up. I called 4 times and still no response. When I finally got a hold of someone, they said that they don't sell battery backup for my system! I spent a lot of money on our solar. Their customer service is not what I expected. They don't call back which is unfortunate. Only reason why I was insistent on getting a quote from them is because they know exactly what I have. SIG installed my solar as a subcontractor back in 2019. In hindsight, that was a mistake. The general contractor added needless cost. Next time I'll hire SIG directly. Anyway, SIG did a great job then. Ashley and Hasten in particular were particularly nice during my most recent experience described below. A few months ago the inverter died. (It took me a few weeks to notice.) The general contractor ghosted me, so I eventually called SIG directly. Their entire staff was very nice. They installed a new inverter today for a very reasonable price. (The old inverter is under warranty, but not labor.) Thank you SIG! The process took a while, but you can't expect a contractor to put big projects on hold to take care of unprofitable warranty work. That's particularly true in my case since, technically speaking, I was not their customer in 2019. The fact that they were willing to fit me in at all is very much appreciated. read more

I purchased a home with a solar system that had been installed by SIG. End of December they contacted me regarding a possible inverter failure and sent someone out...tech said he just needed to reboot the system and all was good. 9 months later my true up bill is $1400 and I learn that the inverter has been out since mid December. SIG knew it was broken, lied to me about it, and now won't return my phone calls. read more

This company put Solar on my 89 year old father's home in Sonora in September of 2019 on a old roof that was 29 years old and at the end of its life for $30,000.00 Now my father has passed and to sell the home we have to put on a new on his home and Jason Kerr told my husband $2k to remove and reinstall and now they want $7k to do that job. Buyers Beware - they take advantage of the older community and should have advised my 89 year old father who had Kidney Failure and Parkinson's to get a new roof before installing the panels.
