Luckily for me one of the companies I reached out to was Go Solar Pros. Although they don't have a ton of reviews on Yelp (I think they mainly focus on commercial rather than residential) they seemed extremely knowledgeable, were very responsive and upfront with me. Their prices were also extremely reasonable. As such I decided on them. I corresponded with Conrad mainly and signed up during the busy season so I knew installation would be several months out. Conrad gave me a rough estimate which I expected to be a month or two sooner than the actual date, but to my surprise he was spot on. I really appreciate companies that are honest and upfront and Go Solar Pros has always been with me. Installation took place over a couple days unfortunately during the hottest days in the summer but the team were troopers. Everyone was polite, respectful and put up with all my technical questions and concerns. Not once did I feel as if I was a bother or inconvenience to them. The installation went well and looks clean. There was a hiccup at the end when it came to permits with the city, however GSP was on it and able to get the issue resolved in a reasonable amount of time. After the system was installed and payment completed there was an issue with one of the micro converters. GSP was great in troubleshooting, working with Enphase and ultimately replaced the micro converter under warranty. It is also great to work with a company such as Go Solar Pros that offers after sales support and is prompt with resolution even during the busy season. If you are ready to make the switch to solar, these are the guys to go with :)

When I called, I was treated very nicely on the phone and was able to schedule an appointment within 48 hours. Diagostic appointments are $89 during the week and $149 on Saturday. Our technician, Wes, was very professional, on time and easy to talk to. He came out and checked the unit (we needed a different fuse) and turned the unit on and got it running. I was very happy with the service from the ladies in the office to Wes our technician. Just a heads up, they have a monthly maintenance plan ($12.95 a month) that they will try and sell you. It includes an annual check of your A/C unit and of your heater. Any additional work or service calls are then 20% off. Just an FYI, if it is a good deal for you, then I would suggest getting it, if not, they will still service you. Thank you Honey's for making our experience a Sweet One!

Just wow, what a nice guy and thorough as well cleaned our unit like his own. He also showed us some before and after pics. He also made a suggestion when he found out I had bad allergies and saw the 3 air purifiers throughout the house. lol. He recommended us to get the unit that plugs into out HVAC unit. Ken from Semper Solaris came over and we considered all the options and we received some credits for our loyalty. So the roof is almost complete and the team has been great.Excellent communication.We worked out some issues with the satellite TV and internet antenna with Tim and proceeded smoothly. He helped us crunch the numbers to see the value in the system for our energy needs. He went over how solar systems worked and tied into battery storage and the grid. He even helped us with looking into the incentives and rebates that were available at the time. He was very proffesional, freindly and understanding, but most importantly patient with us since we came at him with a million questions being first timers shopping in the solar industry. I desperately needed a roof on my house before the rainy season started. I also wanted to get…read moresolar because it was clear that energy prices are going to continue to rise and solar is the smart way to go in this climate. I also replaced my gas furnace with a heat pump, so our electric needs are significant. A new roof with complete tear off and new plywood is a big project. I started by getting a quote from Solar City but they weren't able to coordinate with a roofer. Their leasing agreement (aka PPA) also had some provisions that seemed pretty predatory. I don't remember if Solar Sesame cold called me or I called them, but I do remember that Marcel did a great job of explaining the process. I'm pretty knowledgeable about these kind of projects so I asked somre very detailed questions. When he wasn't able to answer them immediately, he didn't front, he just said he didn't know and called the office for better info. That's the best response. I was a little concerned that Solar Sesame used an outsourced the roofing to a vendor. But given the time constraints, that was a good decision. Also, the vendor they chose, Arts Roofing, was a joy to work with. They communicated well, and when there was a small problem, they handled it professionally and entirely to my satisfaction. The solar panels went up super fast and well. They system was generating power the as soon as the installers were done. Unfortunately, PGE took their sweet time getting the final inspection done. So PGE got some free kwh from the system. On the good side, we didn't start paying for the system until after PGE did the final turn on, so no problem for us. I monitor the system via the PGE site as well as the Tesla app. Those two systems match up perfectly so I am happy with the amount of power being created and sold back to PGE. Also, we had a short power outage in our neighborhood, and it didn't impact us at all. The only reason I knew about it was that PGE alerted us via text. I looked out my window and noticed that none of my neighbors had their lights on. Between Marcel (sales) and Mei (project management), I'm very happy with the end result and the process on this large residential project.

SolarSesame was supposed to schedule the final PG&E inspection in March. They never bothered to try. I ended up having to schedule that myself because SolarSesame wouldn't. It took over 8 hours on the phone with PG&E to get access. 2. It is now 8 months later and the project is NOTin the final stage of the process. PG&E was here today, because I called to schedule the inspections that were SolarSesame's responsibility. PG&E indicated that the system would likely be failed and that more work would be required. 3. I had to demand that SolarSesame and GoodLeap stop calling me because they lied constantly. All communication is now via email so that I can have record of their constant lies and failures. 4. I have holes in my home's exterior because equipment has been moved countless times. I'm in the process of getting quotes to repair the damage to my home's exterior.

Our experience with SIG has been unacceptable…read more After installation and payment, SIG solar became largely unreachable. We have made multiple phone calls over the years needing assistance with system issues and were constantly told someone would call us back. Those calls rarely happened, to the point that my husband drove 40 miles to their office just to speak to someone in person - with no resolution. Because SIG solar failed to provide support, WE had to contact the inverter manufacturer, twice in the past few years to get the system functioning, something the installer should have handled. When we just recently realized that we needed our roof replaced, SIG solar charged us $8000.00 to remove and reinstall the panels. We had to pay it because we did not want to do anything to jeopardize our warranty, effectively forcing us into this expense. This company appears focused on sales, not long-term service. For a major investment like solar, this level of non-responsiveness and lack of accountability is unacceptable. Experiences like this are why homeowners rely on consumer protection and contractor oversight agencies.

We couldn't be more happy with our solar system installed by Velocity Solar. From the start, their…read moreservice was top notch. They built out a system for us that made sense for our usage, and also specialized in a very specific panel type I was looking for, which is a hybrid Solar PV + Solar thermal (heat) for pool water called CoolPV. Velocity actually paid for our June PG&E bill while we waited for the system to be completed. They fielded any/all questions I had throughout the process with timeliness and total transparency. We're now enjoying a system that is producing an abundant net credit on the energy side (~38-45kW/day from a 6.7kWh rated system) so far through the summer months, producing with incredible efficiency; at the same time keeping our pool heated at an amazing walk-in 88-90 degrees (we were normally seeing 78-81 degree top water temps this time of year w/o heat). If you're on the fence about purchasing solar, I would highly recommend Velocity for an honest, transparent assessment on whether solar makes sense for you. With PG&E woes continuing into 2020 and beyond, we've traded our insane utility bill for a fixed monthly payment and a 30% tax credit (last year for the 30%!) that will have the system completely paid for in only a few years time.
