Chris is a life saver and an incredibly honest man. Late on a Saturday night our fridge went out and the circuit breakers weren't working. Called some "affordable" electricians who were going to charge $299 to show up and $199 for a diagnostic!! Checked Yelp before pulling the trigger and Chris helped me and fixed the problem over the phone in two minutes. Saved my food in the fridge and half a grand over such a simple fix. I gave Chris 5 stars just after his visit with us as I really appreciated him coming and helping us on a holiday when our current landlord failed us. What has been frustrating since is getting a receipt for the cash payment we gave him. We cannot apply for reimbursement without it. I asked for a simple email with details as he said their receipt resource was out of service at the moment. After several requests I received a half ass written email that my landlord would not accept as it really did not say much. First of all, this is the very first review I have ever written in my 61 years on this earth. I have never been so disrespected by a potential contractor in my life. My wife went searching for quotes to put in a 220 V outlet. We scheduled an appointment last week at 4pm. Chris did not show up until around 5:30 pm. Did he call and say he was running late? No. (That would have showed a little professionalism).When he arrived, did he apologize for being late? Of course not (that would be professional as well). When he arrived, I said "Hey, you are over 90 minutes late". His response was " Well, you can't have everything you want in life". I almost thought I heard him wrong. The look on his face was disrespectful. My first instinct was to say "good day" and close the door (which was very disrespectful of him). I DID NOT DO THAT! Instead, I chose to hear him out. He came in, pulled out my stove, I showed him where I wanted the conduit run around the back of the house onto the other side where the conductors would be installed inside. Chris took no measurements, no notes (that I recall), and he just said" I know I quoted $350, however, this job is bigger than I thought and is going to run you about $3500". I thought that was a little pricey (about $1000 more than others). I then told him to write me up a quote, but I want it itemized for all parts and labor (wanted to make sure he would come in with a reasonable price with all items added in and just wasn't a cheat). Yes folks, I still tried to show him a little grace. He said he would get that to me. I asked him about what time does he start around 7 -8am? Oh No, that is way too early for him - he said more like 10ish. I asked him how long it would take and he said about 1.5 days (others have said less than a day). I asked about his availability and he said no availability until Monday today. I said I wanted it done soon, but I need that quote very soon within a day or so and he assured me he would. Well, he NEVER contacted us with the quote as promised and no follow up. I took it as another sign of disrespect and my business was not important to him. Now folks, up until this point even with how I was treated, I STILL DID NOT THINK THIS WAS A RACIAL ISSUE - until today. I am a 61-year-old African American man who has proudly served in the United States Navy for 15 years. I am a Gulf War Veteran (Desert Storm -not Desert Shield). I feel if other veterans and I haven't earned the respect that I know I earned, then who has? We have sacrificed and bled on our great flag just to keep the red in it! I got a call from my wife today while I was at work saying someone was ringing the doorbell multiple times. She answered through the RING and it was Chris this morning saying he was ready to do the electrical work. Now he did not introduce himself to my wife, she did not know who he was ,so of course my wife was confused. She told him his services was not needed because the work was already done. This is when she told me he got a little nasty and agitated. He lied to my wife saying I told him to show up today. LIAR LIAR PAINTS ON FIRE!!!! I never said that" My wife told me Chris said very nasty "Why didn't you guys just call me so I didn't have to waste my time coming all the way out here". My wife has never met Chris. I asked Chris at least 2 times (maybe 3) to send me an itemized list/quote on what is to be done. He did not-no quote, no contract, no phone call, nothing. Chris disrespected both my wife and I. That attitude/hostility was on purpose, and I don't appreciate the attack on my wife. A little advice young man, when you are dealing with the public , people of color - please judge them on the content of their character and not the color of their skin. I did try to do that to you even though you never gave me the respect when we first met. This was a horrible experience and I hope Chris work on what may be inside his heart. read more

The other thing about Chris that needs to be highlighted is his sense of honesty and integrity. For my repair, he quoted me a price that was already 20-30% lower than the other bids I got. He showed up on time and got to work, BUT he later discovered that part of my issue was due to a panel being mislabeled by the builders. This revelation drastically reduced the amount of labor in the initial quote, so he immediately revised it and charged me a very fair price for his work and all the time spent running down the root problem. Chris was very responsive and quick in terms of coming over for the initial investigation and to share the quote, what i didn't appreciate though was post the initial investigation, i felt the quoted price was a bit expensive and wasn't interested in proceeding further. Chris was right on time when we (family and I) needed him for an unexpected power outage when installing a dryer. He came in the rain and super dark and was able to successfully, turn on the power, and give us a lesson on where the main breaker box is outside of our home. I've hired Chris a couple of times to repair ancient wiring at our church. He truly is a very capable troubleshooter. He is extremely thorough and can find the root cause of problems after other electricians have walked away from a trouble repair lost. Electrical 'Whisperer', I don't know, but qualified and gifted as adjectives just don't cover the extent of his experience.
