Mid State was quick to provide a quote and install, that I'll give them. As to fixing a leak that wasn't there when they touched our pool equipment, we were told that it wasn't caused their install to call our pool company. That it most likely was caused by the increased pressure. UPDATE: After a little blow up (which I feel bad about) They came out and fixed the leak, and Ty said it was possible that when he added the two valves that the filter union could have loosened up. read more

We started doing business with Mid-State Solar about 19 years ago when we had them install our solar swimming pool heating panels. Over the years, for any service needed, I would simply call Mary and she would ensure the service was done quickly. So when we decided to get solar panels to produce electricity for our home, I spent about 6 months educating myself on different systems. I researched and got quotes from not only Mid-States Solar but other Solar companies in California. Aaron from Mid-States Solar put together the estimate for me based on the roof, trees, shade evaluation and where the sun comes across our home. I realized then that it was a huge difference to have a local company, that came to the house to see what they had to work with and who know the local policies with the City and our electricity provider (Modesto Irrigation District) verses a company reviewing a satellite view of our home on their computer. The other companies gave me bad information regarding local policies and told me I had to upgrade my electrical panels and trench to the street to upgrade the connection with our power company. Once Aaron looked at our panel and designed our system, there was no need to upgrade the panel or trench, saving us over $10,000. Our installation crew was run by Nick. They did an awesome job on the roof and found the least intrusive way to run the power to our panel through our attics. At the same time, they moved our pool heating panels to another part of the roof and replumbed the panels. Dan the electrician did a great job and was very professional. The price was better than the other quotes I had received, and we got a great low interest loan with the opportunity to re-amortize once we get our 26% solar credit. Overall, I couldn't be happier with the system and the entire team from Mid-States Solar. One of my favorite parts of the day is when I go outside and watch my meter run backwards. We purchased a home in Ripon last summer and wanted to get our pools solar equipment tuned up before summer. I found Mid State's Solar sticker on our equipment from the previous owner. I called about 4 weeks ago (mid April) and spoke with a lady who was very friendly. She told me they were very busy, or in her words, "slammed" and would not commit or make an appointment at that time. I called back every week to try and schedule but received the same response, "We are very busy." Finally, my wife received a call from their office on May 20th stating a technician would be out on May 21st between 12:00PM and 2:30PM. May 21st came and went without anyone showing up or even the courtesy of a call to let me know why. I called the office on 05-24-21 at 12:50 PM and spoke with the same nice lady by phone. She told me she saw the scheduled appointment but had not received the technician's notes to find out why nobody came out. I told her everyone including the technician is very busy; however, everyone carries a cell phone and a simple call to let me know there was a delay would have been appropriate. I told her the technician's actions were unacceptable. If you're looking for frustration, excuses and a complete lack of respect for your time, give this company a call. read more

A few years ago we had Mid-State solar at our house to repair a few minor problems with our pool's solar heating. Main difference: When Mid-State fixed the problem it stayed fixed! From the outset, our pool's solar had capacity to work perfectly in summertime but fell short in April, May and September of heating the pool enough to make it a pleasurable experience. Recently i had them at the house to repair damage done to the pool solar's pipes by a fallen tree limb. While they were here I had them increase the system's capacity by 20%. I'm delighted with the results, having enjoyed the pool in April and looking forward to pool days in May. I recommend this company with enthusiasm! read more

They came out did an inspection and said Mary would write up a quote I waited a few days no call no quote I have called every day asked for her no quote I'll get to it today 8 times. yesterday I called spoke to someone else who said they would talk to her. The best solar company in San Joaquin / Stanislaus Counties, bar none. We initially hired them to install the Solar Pool heating system. The system they had (Israeli-made) exceeded my expectations and provided an exceptionally hot swimming pool per our (medical) requirements and to our complete satisfaction. This is not easy to achieve but the owner (Phil) worked with us patiently from start to finish and was always, prompt, courteous and professional. Their quote was not the cheapest (more like mid-range) but the fact they have been in business since 1977 and their thorough knowledge and patience impressed me. A year later, we were looking to install PV (Electric) solar system. We had 3 finalists in our myriad of choices. Again, their prices were mid-range but they elected to provide a discount to come closer to the lowest price we had from a an alternate vendor - plus free upgrade to better solar panels and better management software. That - in combination with our prior Solar Pool heating experience, tilted the scale in their favor and we chose them. Once again, they did an amazing, prompt job. I purchased a home a year and a half ago. This home had a solar system that was only a couple of years old but was inoperable. Called Mid-State to inspect our solar heating system. We recently purchased the house and wanted instruction on how to properly operate the solar system. It was very difficult to schedule an appointment for a service visit. The company would not commit to a day and time. When you work an hour away from home being told you would get a call in the morning if someone could come out that same day is really difficult to plan around. When the technician did come out he said we had an issue with temp control and of course suggested replacing the entire control panel. He did ultimately just replace the temp sensor. But he could not give us a quote on the cost of the repair. He just said we would get a bill. Who can't provide a price?? Not happy with the customer service or the communication. read more

When our existing solar system died, we wanted to find a company that paid equal (or more) attention to the After Sale side of customer service, since that was where our previous installation company failed. We got a few quotes; 2 from the Big Guys, and one from Mid-State who was referred to us by a friend. The Big Guys had the cheaper quotes, but based on reviews from Yelp and other Solar-specific review sites, they were terrible with the customer service after installation. So we decided to go with the slightly more expensive quote from Mid-State. It was probably one of the best decisions we've ever made with regards to home improvement work! I cannot speak highly enough about Aaron and his crew! From start to finish and beyond, they were just fantastic! Aaron went over everything in the proposal to make sure we didn't have any questions, then kept us up to date on scheduling. From the complicated removal of our old system, to the replacement of some shingles, to the install of the new system, and clean up...everything was top notch! I had my solar panels installed by Peterson Dean a few years ago. This last summer something went out in my Enphase box so I wasn't getting any data as to how much electricity I was generating. This had happened to me once before so I knew to call Enphase first to have them trouble shoot it then to call Peterson Dean to install the new part. Imagine my surprise when Enphase informed me Peterson Dean went bankrupt on the solar panel part of their company so I had no warranty for them to come install the part. It took 2 months to get the part and they were supposed to send a list of contractors who worked on Enphase systems but they didn't, so I did some research to find a company that did to pay to have it installed. I found Mid -State and they were able to send a gentleman out to install it. It didn't take him long to fix however he found there to be another problem, but this time with the solar panels. Something went out on 1 panel that made none of the electricity be reported to PG&E. He didn't have the part with him and said he could come back another time to change it out. We got to talking and I told him I was thinking about adding some panels because since I installed the panels I bought an electric car so my true up was up quite a bit. He told me he'd have Aaron get in touch with me to figure out what I needed. Longer story shorter, they installed 6 new panels and upgraded my micro-inverters on my old panels which increased their production also. And the upgraded mico-inverters will also be compatible with a storage battery if I decide to get one. Aaron and the whole crew were awesome through this whole thing. About 5 years ago, my wife and I started talking about solar. Aaron at Mid State Solar came over one evening and explained all of the different programs and rebates that were available at that time. He also said they could "Do it all, or any part of it I needed help with. After Aaron left, my wife and I decided that Mid State Solar was going to get our business. We were so pleased that there was absolutely no pressure to make ANY commitment, we were sold on Aarons' honesty and thoroughness of the scope of the entire process. I installed the system myself, but found some questions that Mid State Solar answered promptly. My system is a stand alone, battery backup, system that is "Grid tied" I had done my research, and attended Schneider Electric's 3 day seminar on solar systems and inverters. I knew what type of system I wanted. I called Aaron back and asked him to order EVERYTHING I NEEDED. Shortly thereafter one of the Mid State Solar trucks came out and dropped off a big pile of "goodness." Aaron procured all of the permits, got all of our state and federal rebates, including one from PG&E. He came out and did the initial layout for the ground mounted PV panel array. One of his technicians helped me with the "strings" and had a special tool for crimping the weather tight M4 connecters. Thanks to Mid State Solar for their honesty, commitment and perseverance to get PG&E to come out and do their own inspection. I am a very satisfied customer. I own my entire system, no leases, hidden costs, and no Bozo's calling me up at dinner time trying to rip me off on a percentage plan. My system is now completely paid for and my E part of my PG&E bill for the entire year, including the $10 per month "grid tie fee", was $0.26. No Bull. I am looking foreword to 10 or more years of one year true up period bills like the last one for 26 cents! If you value your time and money, don't even get another quote. Just call Mid State Solar and start saving money now. How many other companies have been in the solar business for 30+ years? They are doing it right, every time.
