Great place for veggie meals. The place is clean and the owner is friendly. They also have fresh made food to go.

I came here craving for taiwanese breakfast but I think I've been too spoiled by socal because I have yet to find a place in the bay area that has good taiwanese breakfast. The chive pancakes were overly oily, and the fan tuan could have had more filling, and the rice was kind of hard. And on top of all that it's pretty expensive for how much you get

I've been back several times since my first visit a month ago and have loved everything I've tried. They have a good selection of items available for the lunch plates, and although I may not know the names of all of the dishes, I can confirm everything I've tasted so far has been yummy. There are also some prepackaged dishes that I crave occasionally. I'm glad they're nearby, so it's easy for me to grab a quick delicious bite. I feel like a regular at this point. Highly recommend giving them a try!

Heard about Sogo Tofu randomly through social media and knew I had to pay a visit and try their rice burritos and authentic side dishes. The entire store is vegetarian and offers plenty of choices to pick from, ranging traditional Chinese herbs, soy milk, fresh side dishes, desserts, soups and frozen buns. I picked up two different versions of their rice burritos, kao fu side dish (braised wheat gluten), shao bing, and red bean paste puff pastries. I loved everything except the rice burritos purely because of the texture of the vegetarian pork floss which made it mushy. I've been back a few times now and always get the kao fu and the red bean paste pastry- so good!

shaobing youtiao

It's honestly amazing having a 100% veggie place in the Bay that also makes Taiwanese breakfast. There are almost no places that make shaobing youtiao in NorCal (or any?), let alone one that makes a decent version. Everything is expensive here, but for all the work it takes to make each item they sell, I think it's worth paying for. The place is really small, and functions more like a mini-mart or deli than purely a breakfast place. You can buy various kinds of freshly-made tofu, beancurd, soymilks, and small dishes to take home. Just make sure you know what you want when you order at the register, because the owner won't have any patience for dillydallying. We got a purple rice fantuan, a daikon pastry, and a shaobing youtiao. 1) Fantuan was pretty solid: youtiao fried the right amount, pickled veggies, veggie floss. Only downside was that the rice was not fully/evenly cooked in some parts. 3.5/5 2) Daikon pastry was flaky, buttery, and packed with tender, shredded daikon. 4/5 3) Shaobing youtiao was pretty solid as far as what you can get in the US. The shaobing was super flaky (maybe a little too much), and the youtiao was perfect. 4/5

So awesome to find a Taiwanese Vegetarian place with a lot of delicious options (savory and sweet)! Went back immediately the next day after trying it one day and will be returning for more. Really enjoyed their 水煎包 and "Spicy Veggie Chicken." Highly recommend even if you are not vegetarian :)

Pastry pancake is the best by far , others wouldn't re purchase just my pov. Price for vegetarian rice burrito is xxxxxx

Really unique spot with healthy traditional items. Spicy peanuts were the hidden gem, get those.

Always wanted to try this place and was heavily recommended from friends. Coming to the place itself, it is very small and no dining inside. Plenty of parking spots. Coming to food choices, oo man, there are plenty of options to fill in various appetites We could even take some dim sums home as well and they looked yummy. You can take bento box as well and they looked good but couldnt try this time We tried a few : Gua bao was awesome Sticky rice roll with egg outside was Winner for me and hmm filling inside ( i think this is called fan tuan) was truly awesome Seaweed sticky rice roll was the runner up for me with so much flavor inside Spicy Tofu - This is heavenly with little bit of spiceness and flavor was awesome. We also took a bun and this was my least favorite among the all We tool taro bun and was ok Grilled scallion was decent

This is a vegetarian's dream! If you're a meat eater, you have been warned! There is no meat here! +++ A M B I A N C E +++ This place is a small take out place! They have shelves full of refrigerated food like soy milk and soups that you take and warm up at home. There is a counter where you pick what food you want in your lunch box and additional side items and then pay at the register: Chipotle style. There was a line last time we went! +++ F O O D +++ [+] Lunch Box I got 3 lunch boxes! You choose from a noodle base: spicy wide flat noodles and not spicy thin rice vermicelli! This takes up half the box. You then get 3 sides for each box! There were all sorts of things, I don't know what all of them are! There was an eggplant dish, bokchoy with bean curd, mushroom with tofu. It all tasted delicious! The portions they give is generous! [+] Green Chive Box Bun The man in line ahead of me asked me if I wanted any Green Chive Box Buns and I said yes and he said "Oh you should order first because I am going to buy whatever they have left!" How nice of him! Also of course I wanted it try one if someone thought it was so good that he was going to buy ALL of them! This was pretty tasty, I wish it had more seasoning and more egg. It had a lot of noodle but not enough chive. Unfortunately, all the food we got was room temperature. It was strange. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to take it home and warm it up or eat it at that temperature? I think it tasted better hot. [+] Soy Milk The soy milk tastes good! The sweetened soymilk is not very sweet, which is nice! The best compliment from a Chinese person hahaha. We love our minimally sweet treats hahaha. +++ S E R V I C E +++ A lot of signs are in Mandarin Chinese with English translation. They also accept credit card. The servers speak both English and Chinese, so pick whatever you are more comfortable with. It is a great place to practice your Chinese! The servers are really friendly! My husband spoke to them entirely in English and I spoke to them entirely in Chinese, so I thought it was great! +++ O V E R A L L +++ There were so many pastries in this place that I wanted to try and buy! I will definitely have to come back! Next time I will just reheat everything when I get back home! Then it will be piping hot!

The traditional version is excellent, but I particularly love that they make a vegan filter coffee with oat milk. Went there with friends I hadn't seen in a while. Was a weekday evening so the restaurant wasn't very busy. Went to order food and was rudely asked where is the token. This was my first time here and I didn't know the process. I told him my table number, even bringing the little number holder, but that wasn't enough, he gruffly me to go back to the hostess, who wasn't much help either. Got in line behind my friend and I guess that did the trick, but the other person taking orders was also rude. BUT the real kicker was about an hour and a half into our meal, someone (manager?) came to our table and told us that we've been here too long and asked us to leave. We looked around and saw there were a few empty tables, also there were no lines, so didn't understand the disrespect. Never have I had this experience dining out, and this is incredibly poor customer service. The servers replenishing the sambar refills were great, however. Giving it 2 stars because the food was good, but won't be returning, and will stick to our wonderful Madras Cafe.

Though they have a lot of BOGO offers, the quantities are very less making the deal far less attractive than what it seems. Coming to the food itself, it's pretty average, the dum biryani had tandoori style red color chicken topped with flavored rice. Not dum biryani from any angle. The mild chicken curry we ordered for take out was literal fire and burnt through my tummy. We then saw a post for unlimited Thursday night chaat and made our way there inspite of being a weekday. After getting seated we were told they decided not to have it due to lack of sufficient patrons. Needless to say we were disappointed but ending up ordering a few dishes. We got chowmein, parotta and some chaat. All the items were good and well made. They also gave us a Bangalore style peas chaat on the house, it tasted exactly like the version my grandma makes. So this was a very decent meal. Overall lot of inconsistency and mixed experiences.

They were one of the few places still open, and we're really glad we stopped in. The restaurant was quiet with only a couple of other tables, which made for a nice, relaxing lunch. Every dish tasted fresh and homemade, and the portions were huge for the price. Our favorite by far was the garbanzo bean roll. It was packed with flavor, and I'd honestly come back just for that. The Himalayan chicken was another winner. We ordered the dark meat, and it was incredibly juicy, tender, and perfectly cooked. We also tried the YYWAIWAI, a popular street food dish. It reminded me a little of chaat, but I was expecting more crunch. Ours was a little soft and soggy, so it's probably not something I'd order again. The only dish I'd skip is the garlic pesto naan. It was pretty flat, oily, and just didn't do much for us. Even with a couple of dishes that weren't our favorites, everything else was so good that we're already talking about coming back to explore more of the menu. I took another star off as I left a tip for the staff but when I got home they had tipped themselves an extra 50 cents on top of my already 20% tip. I was more disappointed in the principle of adding more money than the actual amount as that was pretty frustrating. Overall I liked this place but I don't think I would come back due to the dishonesty.

And we didn't come till 12:30 so I guess that's prime time. Cuz and I ordered the pumpkin curry with tofu and while I didn't ask for mild I did notice it said mild on the receipt which was perfect. It definitely had a bit of heat to it but not overbearing. I LOVED this dish. They provide big soft pieces of tofu that don't break apart and there's a good amount of it. Along with chunks of perfectly tender and delightful pumpkin pieces. it also comes with red and green bell peppers. It was absolutely delicious. They provide a bowl of rice to go with it which I typically don't eat a lot of rice but the curry was so good that I did get a lot of rice so I could add the curry sauce! In fact, we had leftovers that I brought home and the next day I made noodles and added the pumpkin curry to it and it was PERFECTION. Curry sauce on every bit of the noodle, the tender pumpkin, crunchy bell peppers and soft tender tofu. I definitely will do that again!! We also got the Pad Thai with chicken. This is my must order for every new Thai restaurant and I use this as a baseline. It threw me off a bit because it came wrapped up like an egg omelet and we had to ask what it was again because we had also ordered the Thai omelet and thought that was the dish. I wish I had taken a picture of it stirred all together but I will say - they added chopped peanuts and crunchy bean sprouts and you add in the egg - it had a lot of texture. They used the smaller thin noodles which I LOVED (again - sorry no pic) and the flavor was SO ON POINT. Definitely one of the TOP pad thai's we've ever had. I do think the presentation was a bit off - had to spend time chopping up the egg from the top into the dish - I would have preferred it more traditional where it's already added in. So we decided to try the Thai Omelet since it sounded different. We got the small side and basically it's their fried rice with ground chicken covered with egg - and they provide a sweet and sour type sauce. It was very good but I think I'll either do rice or noodles - not both. Adding the sauce really added that extra flavor to the dish. Service was great as they kept refilling our water and was so nice with all the to go containers as Cuz and I split some of the dishes. They couldn't give me peanut sauce with it because they said it was too spicy. I've been to many Thai places and I often get yellow curry mild. It has always been fine for me so I am disappointed that they could not cater to my spice level. The rest of my family did love their food though!
