Lamb Chops, plain naan and basmati rice was very good. The chops came out on a sizzling skillet with onions, & red and green bell peppers. Lamb portion size was outstanding. Very fun and eclectic decor and delicious food. We had the samosas, chicken tikka, and lamb chops. Get the lamb chops!!! I grew up with Sunday lamb dinners and I was not disappointed. The service was slow, we came when they opened for dinner with a reservation and our order wasn't taken for twenty minutes and then another 30-40 to get our food, the lamb takes some time to prepare. We visited Sofiz Kitchen & Bar for the first time last night, and had amazing food and service. We arrived at 8:30 (they close at 10:30 on Saturdays), and were offered our choice of tables. We picked one by the window, and the chairs were very plush and comfortable. As someone with frequent back pain, the chair was perfect for me. Our server was very attentive without rushing us, and brought over a large bottle of cold water that she left at the table. I love when restaurants do this, otherwise I'm often waiting for water glass refills. We ordered: Shami kabab, both beef and chicken, served with raita (spicy yogurt sauce) Fish pakora (breaded fried fish) Mango Lassi (yogurt drink) Palak Paneer (cheese in spinach sauce) Garlic Naan Lamb chops Also offered free dessert for "sweet Saturday" Shahi Keer (rice pudding) Everything was absolutely delicious, perfectly spiced and extremely flavorful. We had enough leftovers for another meal. My boyfriend *loved* the lamb. I'm not a big fan of lamb in general, but I did try it and it had good flavor. Sofi came out to talk to us as the entrées were served, and was very friendly and welcoming. She also brought us a free dessert. She stopped by to chat again on her way out the door, telling us that she comes in every morning to cook, that everything is made fresh and there isn't even a freezer on the premises. Sofi'z is easily one of the best restaurants in Chico. We eat here regularly and are always thrilled with the food and the service. Sofi truly loves to connect with her guests and provide the best experience. We love getting the paratha and different sauces to go with our meals, the meat is always SO fresh and tender, and everything is so flavorful. We love trying a new desert every time we visit too. Plus it's so pretty inside and the seating is very comfortable and spacious. 10/10 recommend this place! read more

Giving five stars because the owner and staff are so nice, and the food is well prepared BUT not my cup of tea. I've eaten here three times now, and I always walk away wondering if there's items on the menu that may be more to my liking. The mint and black licorice flavors do not appeal to my palette. I did not grow up eating them and am not fond of either at this point, but again, everything here seems well prepared AND decent quality. I'm going to try to study the menu, and give Sofi's another try one day. I know I'll find a few menu items I'll love eventually read more

This was my first time at Sofi'z Kitchen and Bar, where I was welcomed and seated immediately by the owner. When the gentleman who brought me my glass of water, was next to my table, I asked him what his favorite thing on the menu was, he immediately responded "Butter Chicken" so that is what I ordered when the owner came to take my order. She also suggested naan bread and asked if I would like tea as well, which I did order. I figured the first time I'm in a new restaurant with food that I'm not familiar with, I would rely on the restaurant for their suggestions. The tea, served in what I called "English" style with milk/cream came almost immediately. The freshly baked naan bread was fantastic to dip in my butter chicken, which was just as exquisite. The restaurant would be a nice place to take your date. My only complaint, I voiced at the register as I was leaving, "there was one big problem, it was all so good, I ate it all and now, I will have to go jogging." Highly recommended! read more

We celebrated valentine's early. So glad we chose to finally come. This place is fantastic. If you have not been yet, i highly recommend. The owner was so friendly with us. The food is superb. Try the marsala spice on the fries, its good :) We ordered the lamb chops, yogurt chicken, samosas and kebab. Just overall melt in your mouth, full flavored meals. She is delightful and her food is incredible. We each ordered a dinner and some sides to share. There was so much food and we ate it all. The flavors were authentic and the entire experience was above what is typically offered in our small town. This was the beat part of my husband's birthday and we can't wait to go back. First off, I arrived earliest to meet 3 friends for our lunch bunch - at Sofi'z, so we got to sit in the plush pink seats in the window. The owner/chef gave us a warm welcome and was perfection herself. I ordered a Chai which was delish on its own but it comes with a melt-away cookie - yum. Then, unknowingly, we all ordered the same thing - Vegetable Biryani. So generous portions, we could have split between 2 people, but we loved taking home another meal. The best one I've had yet of one of my fave dishes. And I shared Gulab Jamun dessert with another friend. I've had these cold - but here they are hot and also the best ever. One friend took appetizers, another entree, and dessert home to her hub, so we expect to hear his take, too. So, obviously, I highly recommend Sofi'z. read more

Yesterday I went with a large group to Sofi'z. One of the first things I noticed is how lovely the inside is, it's very cute and pretty with flower strands, Eid decorations, and comfortable seating. We got to meet the owner, Sofia, who was very warm, welcoming and generous. All the staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. We got to try a few dishes, the potato samosas were delicious and well spiced, and the mint sauce went really well with them. We also got to try to the dal, which was rich and yummy, as well as the goat curry, which had delicious meat and an unforgettable flavor. The pickle was delicious as well, strong and a bit spicy. The garlic naan was buttery and the paratha was delicious. The gulab jamun was fluffy and syrupy. Overall it was a wonderful, reasonably priced, and delicious meal. Sofi'z would be an excellent choice for dates, family dinners or whatever you can imagine. The ambiance, food and service are lovely. I hope to visit this business for many years to come. read more
