I was very pleasantly surprised to hear there was pizza at Sofie's Pita. I had not even been to their establishment so, after a long day of moving my son and I went into town to check it out and order take out. The restaurant has great lighting very open lots of seating and a big screen tv with sports on. Saturday night was busy so it was a bit of a wait. The pizza was delicious loved the sauce and the toppings were perfect ratio, yummy we'll be back and they're reasonably priced as well.

They have individual up to 20 inch pizza. The pizza was great. Loved how the ingredients are placed all the way to the back crust, so you're not just left with plain crust. The meat and cheese was so fresh. It takes about 15 minutes to get a pizza because it needs to bake. We ordered the dolmas and baklava too. Both were really good. I love dolmas, and they are one of the best I have had...super fresh and warm here. It comes with salad, a pickle and peppercini. Plenty of parking and pet friendly too.

All I can say is WOW. Incredible food and prices. Especially the portion sizes. The Shawarma is tender and perfectly seasoned. Definitely coming back to try the whole menu!

People on Yelp probably reviewing things that don't really matter. The vibe of this place is the best in San Diego hands down. Parking is across the street at a 4 story parking garage. This was a very disappointing experience from the moment we arrived…read more Christine at the front desk told us that we could be seated, but first we needed to wait in the bar area. We followed her instructions, but once we got to the bar, the bartenders and servers were rude and made us feel very unwelcome. Their behavior made us feel as though we were being treated differently because of our ethnicity, which was extremely upsetting. I spoke with the manager, Jana, to explain what had happened. While she listened, I didn't feel that my concerns were taken seriously, and unfortunately the situation wasn't resolved. What upset me the most was Christine's attitude. After waiting without being seated, I went back to let her know we were leaving because of how we had been treated. Instead of apologizing or showing any concern, she rolled her eyes at us and acted like she didn't care. That level of disrespect was unacceptable and left a lasting negative impression. Good customer service starts at the front door, and unfortunately Christine's behavior ruined our entire experience. We left feeling disappointed and unwelcome. There are many restaurants that value their guests, and I hope this one takes customer service more seriously in the future.

As a result, the restaurant was not crowded, but they were out of several menu items. The restaurant is spacious and very color coordinated. The armrests on the chairs are at a slightly odd height for me but very aesthetic. This restaurant is family-run by a father and son duo. The father was cooking while his son was on the front end of things. The service was super friendly and I really appreciated that he explained the menu thoroughly to us. They were out of beef kabob and chicken shawarma (my go-to). I opted for the liver plate with fries, and also tried a bite of beef shawarma. We were also served a complimentary lentil soup as an appetizer. The soup was DELICIOUS. Soft and warm and comforting, with vermicelli bits in it. It was incredibly flavorful and soothing, something I would crave on cold days, sick days, any days really. I will definitely be finding recipes and attempting to make this myself. Middle Eastern places always have the most delicious, freshly fried fries, 10/10 no notes especially with ketchup (sue me, I'm basic XD). My grilled liver hit the spot. I think my one critique would be that because the pieces were quite large, some parts were quite tough. The roast onions and tomatoes had a good smoky char, and the portions were generous. After I polished off my first cube, the son swung by and set a grilled jalapeño down in front of me, saying that his father recommended parting it with the liver. It's personal touches like this that make me really love a local, family owned place! And his father was definitely right about the jalapeño. That and the pickled cabbage were the perfect complement for the rich, earthy liver. Prices were fair and portions were huge. The service was standout here as well. I would LOVE to come back and try their lamb dishes, and I definitely anticipate updating to a 5 star review then.

Our second experience we got the chicken shawarma Brian's way. Everything was cooked well, but I guess although I like pickles, I'm not as big a fan of Mediterranean pickles. The first bite or two were actually good, but subsequent bites the pickle tanginess was overwhelming and just not so pleasant as I finished it. I thought maybe I'll get it without the pickles next time. However, after eating I got an unexpected headache that usually comes from ingestion of MSG. The fries were tasty... maybe there was MSG in those? Not sure. I've honestly had much better phenomenal shawarma in San Joes CA. I have yet to find a great Shawarma here in San Diego. Feel free to recommend.
