Went with 10 people for a bachelor party. Food was fantastic, and drinks very good, service terrible. 10 people was a bit of a crowd for the space and we were tightly packed into a large table in the middle of the restaurant. Highlight was the food which deserves 5 stars. We had the meatballs, arancini, and burrata around the table to split which we all enjoyed. Pastas as a main dish also delicious. Ambiance is very modern and chill which was a great vibe. Unfortunately, service was AWFUL. We had a waitress who had no interest in our table. Never introduced herself, wouldn't communicate anything and we needed to collect our orders to tell her at the corner, she wouldn't go up to us individually. Had to flag her down to order more drinks despite her walking by our table in the middle of the place.. we were hard to miss. Was a 20% automatic tip which makes sense for such a large group but she deserved 10%. Was nothing but uninterested bordering on rude. Came here for brunch and it was pretty good! Drinks were tasty, food was good, and the overall atmosphere was vibey. I'm not sure if this is regular but there was a DJ. Usually I get annoyed by the loud music when a DJ is at restaurants but this was fine! The bartenders are attentive and will help you make great decisions on what to order. Stopped in without a reservation on a Sunday evening. Wasn't too busy but we were seated at the bar. Not quite sure why no tables since it was never full. Service was good, the right amount of checking in without interrupting. Trendy cute decor. House ricotta appetizer was delicious, the focaccia bread was soft but wish there was more! Pistachio pesto was amazing. Although very heavy and rich. Panna cotta was light and refreshing and a great dessert to end with on a hot summer day. Only downside was the price. This place was really great. We took a lyft here so I couldn't speak to the parking situation. We had a reservation and were seated right away. We sat outside and I thought it was very nice. Service could have been a tad better, or more attentive (just felt like we were waiting awhile sometimes) - but the food was so good that it is still a five star for me. They have both gluten free pizza, and gluten free pasta. I had the commandetore (gluten free) pizza and it was delicious. I loved it. Sofia on the Sunday with the World Cup Final as Argentina beat France was pretty epic. With ample TVs galore, the place was hoppin'! We ordered almost everything: Breakfast Pizza Eggs Purgatory Pancakes Pomegranate Mimosas Coffee etc And the winner is.......... The Pancakes!!!!!!! Sublime, provincial, and absolutely delicious. The fruit, the ricotta, the cinnamon, the balance, the taste! The service was warm and attentive. They were slammed so the coffee refills were sparse. The decor was beautiful. The wood fire oven was stunning. Definitely worth a trip. I would not order the eggs purgatory again. They had to be sent back because they were cooked to Dante's Inferno. The second round was better but undercooked. Stick with the pancakes and the pizza. The regular breakfast plates with the bacon and potatoes were sound. Don't be in a rush. This place was cool and it was added to my list after seeing it on Jersey shore the tv show lol. I have family from down here and have been to New Orleans a ton I just wanted something new to check out and figured if it was good enough for them :P My hubs loved his pizza, service was great, and it was so nice inside. I liked my alla vodka except I should've seen if I could do no chili flakes, my mouth was on fire lol. Sofia is so good that I've only made two trips to New Orleans, yet I come back here each time. Coming from NJ, good Italian food is not hard to find, but Sofia exceeded my expectations. They encourage family style meals, which I always love, so we ordered two alla vodka pastas and a margherita pizza to share between 3 of us, and that was perfect. The alla vodka pasta is perfect. A bit on the spicier side but not too creamy, and I loved the interesting pasta shape. Gave it a great texture. The pizzas come straight from their pizza oven, and they are hot and delicious. Also cool that you can customize your spritz with a variety of flavors and garnishes. This was one of the best food experiences I've had. There are some great Italian restaurants in this area but they all have familiar traditional Italian eatery similarities. Old fashioned architecture with classic decor, check. High priced plates with white glove service, check. Classical music themed, candle lit dinners; check. I mean that's a great experience and maybe I'm spoiled but I wanted something different. In that regard, Sofias is a breath of fresh air. Sofias' design alone will provide two completely different experiences for you. By day, the restaurant had a bright, open spaced, airy atmosphere. I enjoyed a brunch here that had the doors open, covered outside seating, and a DJ. At night the same space transforms into an intimate, close quarters, environment perfect for date night. The menu offers light fare, grounded in premium ingredients and rich flavors. The menu is full of creativity. This restaurant is brought to you by folks who truly care about giving you a fantastic food experience. The drinks are crafty as well. My favorite apps/dishes so far have been the Polpette, Breakfast carbonara, Eggs in Purgatory, CaCio e Pepe, AlLA vodka w Shrimp, and the spicy pizza. For drinks I like the Scandal in Sorrento, Down the Rabbit Hole, Pomegranate Melodrama, and the Clarified Milk Punch. The gelato is delicious but if you stop glib you MUST try the Butterscotch Blondie ice cream sandwich, stuffed with carrot cake ice cream. It's amazing. The service is top notch. A Mixed Experience. Visited Sophia in for an authentic Italian meal, intrigued by their traditional Mafaldine with lamb ragu. The ragu, rich in flavor, had an unconventional addition of Greek yogurt didn't complement the dish at all. I mean isn't ricotta or something similar a better option ?? The pistachio dessert is like a messy concoction of grocery store cake with lazy amounts of whip cream and whole pistachios tossed around. Service kept things alive - staff were attentive and personable. However, the kitchen seemed super delayed albeit the manager on staff took care of things yet organization seemed in disarray. Just seems like one of those kind of places where ownership are likely detached from day-to-day operations. They should probably try to match the staff's hard work. read more

10/10! I was shocked when I saw I hadn't reviewed Sofia in the past. We have been here twice, and both times we were seated at high-tops (the same one as well). Service is awesome, and the environment is even better. I love the vibe at this place and it keeps us coming back. Sofia is the number one restaurant we have to visit when we come into town. We have been talking about the ricotta appetizer for months! It's so good that we often consider ordering two. I highly highly recommend you order it. We've had a couple of different items here, the sausage pizza is good, but the pasta is where it's at. Call me basic but I love the Ala Vodka pasta and will continue to order it! My husband has had the pesto and the cacio, but were tasty and he'll probably order one or the other next time. We have also had the spicy past and the risotto (which is no longer on the menu). It's hard to say on desserts as most were pretty basic tasting, chocolate bundio was pretty average and the prosecco float could honestly use a better prosecco and the seasonal sobet really matters! I wish they had an on going berry option, but I did lemon this time and it was good. I highly recommend checking this place out! read more

For our first full day dinner in NOLA, we tried Sofia based on a recommendation and reviews. It did not disappoint!! We had a group of 8. The seating arrangement itself was terrific. We had a large table with a Lazy Susan in the middle. Since we ordered MANY dishes to share, it was the perfect way to sample and pace ourselves. Ot was also terrific as we were able to face each other, adding to the ability to carry on meaningful conversations. The service was outstanding. They basically provided a recommendation of many dishes to share and try. It all sounded great. So we went with that. It was all great, and each portion large enough that everyone got the try. The pace which they brought out the dishes was perfectly staggered so not rushed, but no downtime either. The service was attentive to take away dishes, keep wine and water topped off, and just added to a wonderful evening. As for food, it's hard to go wrong. One appetizer we all enjoyed was the meatball. It's a must. The house ricotta also was very good. We had a couple pizzas, one Margherita and one Salsiccia. For main dishes, the Ragu and Alla Vodka were solid. Lastly, the wine list was very good. A little pricey, but sure didn't stop us from consuming a lot!! read more

Walked past this buzzing restaurant after getting off street car in Warehouse District and thought this looks good. Ask to sit at open kitchen counter to watch the show where they were making pizzas right in front of me as I was mesmerized from the fire glow from the pizza oven. Experienced attentive service by the staff who gave very good menu recommendations. My appetizer course of 2 meatballs in a marinara sauce was good not great. Sauce was vibrant, just didn't knock me off my socks. Second pasta ragu course arrived with green olives and not enough meat. With that said the pasta had a delicious chew and all the flavors blended well together. And finally the spicy pizza was the star. The eggplant appetizer was delicious and a unique blend of flavors. I did not try the pizza (too many carbs for me with just the pasta) and we did have the pistachio gelato for dessert (not pictured).
