The bartender suggested I go with the Spicy Ricotta Gnocchi and I was so glad I went with his advice! The pork sausage was delish and the perfect amount of heat. Also tried the Mushroom Pizzetta, which was excellent, but very heavy on the mushroom so must be a fan of that. I Loved the rosemary pesto on it. We did not have a reservation, and we were able to walk in (early) and be seated immediately. The menu is limited, but what we did have was fabulous. My husband and I had 2 appetizers as our meal. We had the Mafalde Alla bolognese and the Roasted Chicken Meatballs - both were delicious. My sons had the Grilled Wagyu skirt steak and they both enjoyed it. At the recommendation of the very helpful woman at the desk of the Ogden Museum, we had lunch at Gianna on a cold, windy late December day. And it was great! We started with soup of course. Perfect on a cold day. And tasty. She had tagliatelle with funghi. I had spaghetti with aglio e olio. We were both delighted with our choices. Service was great. The space is beautiful. Marinated Beets - 9.1 Ciabatta Bread - 7.5 Kale & Brussels Salad - 8.2 Spaghetti (Olive Oil Based) - 6 Short Rib Bolognese - 9.8 Drum - 9.2 Butterscotch Budino - 8.8 The marinated beets paired with burrata, almonds and fresh citrus was excellent. It nearly made a perfect bite of food. The different textures and flavor profiles complimented each other greatly. The bread was okay, I have had many complimentary breads that were better. Kale & Brussel salad was very tasty. It was paired with a lemon/anchovy vinaigrette and thin sliced red onions. I believe the greens could have handled a thicker dressing and could have also used a sweet note, such as pomegranate. Spaghetti - It wasn't traditionally which is something we knew and wanted to pair with the drum. It was okay. I have had pasta with simple ingredients that were fantastic but this didn't hit that mark. It's the only thing I wish we wouldn't have ordered. Bolognese - Incredible!!! My Wife loves Bolognese so it is a dish we typically try when we go on vacation and restaurants known for their bolognese. This bolognese was compromised of short rib and pancetta. The beef flavor hit you over the head in the best way possible. Top 5 bolognese we have ever had for sure. Drum - Can't recall whether it was baked, seared or both. However, the crust was amazing and held up although it was served in a very delicious broth. It was paired with capers and fennel. Butterscotch Budino Dessert - I hate I didn't get a photo. My Wife doesn't like butterscotch however, we took a chance on this after the waiter strongly suggested it. It didn't disappoint. It was described as a pudding like dessert however, it was thicker. 10/10 and would definitely return. I went in shortly after they opened for the day and sat at the bar. I had a glass of the Sparkling Chardonnay (Trentino. Ferrari 'Perle' 2017) - so good & crisp. More like a blend of Sauvignon Blanc & Prosecco than a Chardonnay. I started with the Brussels Sprout & Kale Salad - phenomenal. It does have red onion, which is not mentioned on the menu- luckily I was able to pick them out. For the main dish, Rigatoni Alla Amatriciana- delicious. The pasta could have been cooked 1-2 more minutes for my liking but the flavor was outstanding, had a nice spicy kick, and it wasn't a huge portion. Service and atmosphere were great. read more

I was in New Orleans for a conference and stopped by Gianna for dinner with a friend. We had such a lovely time with great food and a great atmosphere. It's a beautiful restaurant with plenty of space for dining. We stopped by during the week so reservations were easy to make. We loved the ambiance and it's great for catching up with friends or even a date night. The service was great! Our server was charming, made us feel welcomed and took good care of us. For dinner we shared a pizza, meatballs and I had the lamb lasagna. Everything hit the spot especially the lamb lasagna. I was a little nervous about the mushrooms since they aren't my favorite, but I really enjoyed it! I would order it again and would highly recommend. The drinks were also really good. We were on the hunt for an Italian restaurant to celebrate our last night in New Orleans. We are honestly sick of eating Cajun food for the last three days. We were a little concerned because we did have a to go cocktail in her hands when we walked into this very nice establishment. Nobody said a single thing or even flinched, which truly shouldnt surprise us due to the location. We sat at the large bar and was greeted in a reasonable amount of time. This is a very nice and upscale kind of restaurant, so it's always surprising when you see people sitting down with their baseball caps on. We ordered a pasta dish, aside of meatballs and bread. It's a crime to leave leftover pasta sauce, so the bread was needed. It did not disappoint. We both had a glass of red wine, which after the second glass, we should've just bought the bottle. I believe it was $15 a glass which after looking on the bill was more expensive than the food. Everything was very delicious and met our expectations for our last night in New Orleans. read more

Amazing Italian food with super modern & cute atmosphere! We were a party of 11 celebrating a friend's birthday on a Wednesday evening. Our server was Terrie and she did a phenomenal job of explaining the menu, answering our questions, and also giving recommendations when we couldn't decide (most of us had 2-3 options we were stuck between because it all sounded so good!) I would say she went above and beyond my expectations for a server. I drank the Il Piccionne which is similar to a spicy margarita but tastes even better. It was a large glass, not skimpy on the tequila, and so smooth. For an app I had the calamari. Hands down the best calamari I've ever tasted. Would absolutely order again. My meal was the lamb lasagna, which came with a fresh and delicious side salad. The lamb lasagna gets a lot of hype in these reviews and for good reason! It was absolutely delicious. My only regret is that I couldn't eat more of it before getting full I didn't try any of their desserts bc we had birthday cake, but their selections look delicious. I would love to try their espresso martini since all the drinks we ordered were so good. Great spot for dates, treating someone to a nice dinner, or celebratory meal. Must admit I am very surprised this restaurant is in NOLA. The menu and cuisine is so different yet so delicious that if you are willing to try different cuisine while in NOLA... this is your spot. It was just starting to return to seasonal norms last week when our party of 4.5 (a 6 year old in tow) strolled into Gianna for dinner. We have some serious food snobbery among our ranks, especially when we are within the Italian category. Fresh pasta made at home is not an anomaly in our world. We all ordered the family style prix fixe for $65. What. A. Feast. Everything from the chopped salad (olives, baby lettuces, parm, and a light heat in the after taste) to the garlic cheese bread to those meatballs were prepared with expert care. But the show stopper? The Amatriciana. The pasta was perfectly made and the sauce. The sauce was drink-it-like-it's-soup good. We added on a hunk of their puccia bread to literally wipe the bowl clean and it was a food memory I will snuggle with at night. And yes, the pizza was good, and yes, the drum was lovely, but man. That pasta... and I make a LOT of pasta. That is something truly special. To close, butterscotch budino and lemon mousse cake - both were exceptional, but we all swooned over the butterscotch. This was all backed by some solid (and patient, we did have that 6 year old) service. Was it cheap? Nope. But was it something that will live in my food memory for years to come? We came here after after going to another place to have breakfast and were not attended to, so after about five minutes we walked out and while walking down the street we saw this place and looked it up on Yelp and decided to give this place a try and glad we did. The service was great and it seems like everyone from the courthouse and surrounding corporate businesses come here for lunch. We came on a weekday around noon and it was pretty busy. I really wanted to love this place because the ambiance was great and the food absolutely delivered, but unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the experience. We had a reservation at 8:30 PM and weren't seated until 9:00, which wasn't a big deal, but the restaurant technically closes at 10. Once seated, things didn't improve. In the first hour and a half, we had still only received our first round of drinks. When we mentioned we'd like to start with appetizers and hold off on entrées, our waiter responded by saying the kitchen was closing soon--while literally looking at his watch and rolling his eyes. It immediately made us feel rushed. I also had to ask for my glass of wine twice in the span of 30-45 minutes because I still hadn't received it. At the end of the meal, he kept clearing plates while we were still eating, which was uncomfortable and unnecessary. One of us ended up going to the bar ourselves just to get more drinks because he never checked back in. When our waiter found this out, he proceeded to berate us for making him look bad. The entire experience felt like he was trying to turn the table as quickly as possible rather than provide any level of hospitality. To top it off, he dropped the check on the table and said, "There's no gratuity added--I trust y'all to include that," which just didn't sit right given the level of service. It's disappointing because the atmosphere and food were genuinely great, but the service made it hard to enjoy the night. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and offered excellent advice. My drink was "the harvest" and it was delish! If you like sweeter drinks, I recommend! To start, we got the "provola" as an appetizer. A flavor bomb in our mouths!! This was delicious and the best thing I had all night. The Italian sausage had a great flavor topped with the best cheese. For our entrees we got the "ricotta gnocchi" and the "orecchiette pesto alla trapanese." Gianna's is in walking distance from the New Orleans Convention Center and we were looking for an upscale spot for a semi-large group. The staff were able to accommodate us and very helpful with food and drink suggestions for a bunch of first timers to New Orleans. The drink menu offers a great selection of iconic New Orleans favorites (I had a Sazerac or two) as well as seasonally inspired home recipes. Went here a few nights ago for the first time and I am so glad I did! The food was incredible, service was great and the restaurant is so beautiful inside! I'm vegetarian so I was kind of limited on what I could get, but the options that they did have were amazing! My friend and I got the ciabatta bread and the puccia bread and both were incredible! I loved the Rich cheesy garlic flavor in the ciabatta bread. The puccia bread was nice and buttery made from pizza, though they said. I enjoyed them both and the marinara sauce was divine! For my entrée, I got the corn ravioli as that was one of the few vegetarian entrées on the menu. The flavor absolutely blew me away! It was so rich and so flavorful and the corn with the ricotta balance really well. It's not often I have something so good. The only complaint was that the portion was really small for me, I am a big eater and I could've probably had at least two of these. But considering how heavy in calories, it probably was, it's a good thing. I only had one. lol. Just a little pricey though, but at a high-quality place like this, it's what to expect. We made a spur of the moment decision to go to Gianna after a Tales of the Cocktail event. It was dimly lit with a "high end vibe" and some liveliness at the bar. It seems like a good date night spot. We walked in as a party of 2 with no reservation with no issues. Because the hostess entered the phone number that's attached to my Resy account, the server and kitchen were automatically notified about my shellfish allergy. Our server was amazing and super knowledgeable about the menu. He was so attentive and concerned, even double checking if I could have dishes with anchovies. He's tried most dishes and offered some recommendations. I went with his suggestion of the tagliatelle alla bolognese. I liked it. I wish they also had a dish with braised short ribs. My cousin went with the rigatoni. She enjoyed it. She said everything was delicious, but said her pasta was a bit hard. She also said that her margarita was a bit too strong for her liking. She couldn't finish it. We agreed that the portions could be bigger for the price point, but to be fair both pasta dishes were listed under the primi section of the menu. Before that, we had the chopped salad and meatballs. I don't have anything to say about those dishes, but we cleared those plates as well. The dessert menu was tempting, but we had to leave to head to our next event. I was bummed that we couldn't do the "Feed me family style menu" because we were only two people. Food was not good. Chef appears to be a zealot. We asked for mushrooms on our salami pizza and the waiter said the chef said "no." No modifications allowed. I wished we would have known that before we drove across town to come here. We like mushrooms. They have them on another pizza. When we asked why, we were given an extremely hokey answer. "Our chef sources locally and we only have so much on our ingredients and we only have enough for our mushroom dishes." Does it look like i believe in the tooth fairy?? It's not a great idea to love your own way of cooking so much that you forget you need happy customers. My husband and i came to NOLA. Ive been on keto for months. This was going to be my one Italian carbs meal. Why waste that in some chef's idea of what we should be allowed to have on our pizza. We came to this restaurant and it's a bust.
