Social Still - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

My husband and I visited our son who is at Lehigh University. We wanted to take him somewhere off campus. Social Sill (open on Sunday) was a good choice. Good food and interesting environment. My husband and son ordered the chicken sandwich and both said it was the best they've had. We shared a nacho dish which was very good. I ordered the Caesar salad which could have been better. read more

I have been to social still twice and I must say it is pretty darn good. The first time I sat at the bar with co workers and the ambiance was great, it was fun, up beat, and the staff was amazing. The bartender Tommy had us laughing the whole time and could make a good drink. I must say the drinks aren't as expensive as you would think. I was trying different shots of speciality vodka and rum. The food was WOW the first time I had the meat and cheese platter, the mussels frites, which I knew I wasn't going like because I like my French fries extra crispy, but this was amazing. The reason for my 4 stars is because the second time I went everything we had was perfect down to the truffle burger that I would recommend to anyone, and the scallops that were absolutely amazing, it tasted like a piece of fresh sushi with a scallop in top,but my mussels did not taste like they did the first time. I'm a person that likes consistency. I ordered it because I was blown away by how it tasted the first time. The mussels this time was to slimy and gritty. It definitely did not taste the same and kinda of got me worried about ordering it again when I go back, and yes I will definitely be back!!!!! read more

Social Still - Scallops - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

I was very excited to try the new Social Still distillery in Bethlehem. You walk in and see a giant column still behind glass towering over the bar. There is upstairs and downstairs seating as well as a table for 2 in the old back vault if you call ahead to reserve it. They have a great cocktail list of basic and seasonal offerings. I had to try the made in house spirits for myself before having them in a cocktail. I enjoyed all of them but had a weak spot for the barrel aged gin. It was fantastic and could be drunk by itself over ice. The food was also amazing. I had the Rosemary Braised Short Ribs that were as tender and juicy as meat can get. It was served with country style mashed potatoes, broccoli rabe, roasted tomato, and the natural jus from the short ribs. I included a picture of it, but it tasted even better than it looks. I would highly recommend getting to the Social Still and time you can. read more

Social Still - Served popcorn instead of bread! Very trendy! - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

We love the drinks here! The flatbread of the day is usually a winner. Had the black bean burger which could have been great IF it was on the same bun as the hamburger (what is with the white toast) and had more arugula, tomato and siracha mayo. Fries here are delish. The restoration is the bomb-try it! read more

Best nachos I've ever had! Cocktails are always great. Great beer selection. Food always impresses. Can't go wrong with this place.

Great craft cocktails made with with in-house distilled spirits. Curated menu with tasty resonantly priced options. Had the short rib tacos. They were tasty and simple, like a true street taco. My boyfriend had a burger and thoroughly enjoyed it. But what really struck my taste buds was the calamari. Like none I've ever had tossed in a smoker house made tomato sauce. I'm hungry just thinking about them. Can't wait to go back. And oh, excellent rye whiskey Manhattan. read more

This place is incredible for so many different reasons. First off, the place is set up in an old bank which creates an awesome atmosphere and keeps you looking around and finding cool little things to point out to one another. Next up, the food... The menu is creative and gets updated frequently. More importantly it's delicious. I've been here several time and I've always gotten something different and it's always incredible. Last up, the booze. This place makes their own gin, rum, vodka, bourbon, and whiskey and it is insanely good. Their spiced rum is amazing and the vanilla maple bourbon is knock your socks off good. If you're within 25 miles of his place, make the trip... It's worth it. read more

We went to the Social Still for the first time last week and it was great! We sat outside and all of the tables were appropriately distanced and all staff members were wearing their masks correctly and wearing gloves. The drinks were AMAZING! Pricey but totally worth it! The food was also delicious and great for the fall season. We will totally be returning!! read more

drinks, food, atmosphere and employees are outstanding!

My boyfriend and I found ourselves wandering around Bethlehem over the weekend and came upon Social Still on our way to the Steel Stacks. What a gem this place is! We walked in around 6 pm Saturday night in the mood for a cocktail or 2. It was pretty empty inside but we still chose to sit at the bar - you have a better vantage point of the awesome distillery machines from there. We both started with the sage fizz cocktail - definitely a good starter drink. It was light and effervescent, and had a nice sage aroma that wasn't too overpowering. Even though we had late dinner plans, we were pretty hungry, so we ordered the crab mac and cheese to split. It was cheesy, creamy, crabby, and VERY satisfying, especially on a cold night. We ended our time at the Social Still with a couple more drinks- I had the Lady Marmalade and my boyfriend got the Whiskey Chai-tini. Both drinks were delicious and unique. I especially enjoyed the cayenne powder surprise in the Lady Marmalade. The bartenders were nice and attentive and the service in general was two thumbs up. Will be back for sure! read more

Wow. What to say except awesome all around. Bourbon and burger night on a Wednesday and each is only $9. I had a delicious burger and 2 drinks, an old fashioned that was terrific and another drink with the maple bourbon, which is delicious. Brought 2 bottles home for later enjoyment. Jalapeño vodka (for bloody mary's) and the maple bourbon. Both are delicious read more

Last night was my first night at Social Still. I went with my 2 girlfriends, one of whom dined there before. The ambiance was lovely, but because it's small, the volume gets really loud when it's busy. My friends and I had to yell a lot of the time to hear one another, or couldn't hear each other at all. Like other reviewers have insinuated, come here without having set plans after - because you will be waiting a WHILE for both drinks and food. We waited about 10-15 minutes to be greeted by our waiter. Because of that, we placed our drink and app order right away. We were a little turned off when our apps came out before the drinks made it to the table, and thought it might've been a good idea to at least bring glasses of water to keep us occupied. The cheese/meat charcuterie board and hummus with pita were good. I'm always a fan of meat and cheese, so no complaints with that dish. However, the gentleman who ran it to our table had barely any idea what each item was, making it a little difficult to know/appreciate what we were eating. It wasn't a huge deal for us, but might've been for someone else. My cocktail was the Cucumber Lemondrop, which was very good the first time around. The description says that it has a salt and sugar rim, which paired nicely with the drink itself. When I ordered another, it seemed like someone different made it or it was created in a rush. There was nothing on the rim and the vodka was definitely overpowering the other ingredients. I didn't finish it, which was a waste of $10. For my entree I ordered the Blackened Salmon, which was very, very good. My friends ordered the short rib flatbread and Tuscan style flatbread, which they liked a lot. For 6 drinks in total, 2 apps, 1 "large plate", and 2 flatbreads, our total came out to be $136. Overall, I would come here again - but would choose to sit at the bar and possibly order an app or 2, rather than dine formally and order a meal. read more

We (three people) came around 4:30 pm on a Saturday. The hostess coldly told us they were booked until 9:30. This is ridiculous. They should set aside at least two tables for walk-ins. Luckily, exactly three spots at the bar became available within 10 minutes of our arrival. Definitely make a reservation if you want to come on a weekend. The service was great, and the food was really good. We shared the disco fries. I had the "Everyday I'm Trufflin" burger, and I tried a few forkfuls of the chili mac. Everything was amazing, but I think the disco fries would've been better with a hot melted cheese rather than cold burrata. The cocktails were diverse and unusual. This is a plus because I've found a lot of craft distilleries only have classic cocktails. read more

Positives: Brisket Mac & Cheese. Tasted great. No complaints. Cocktails are unique and tasty. Beers on draft from local breweries. Neat venue, used to be a bank. Still has the large vault door. Negatives: Porkbelly Ramen has the potential to be great. I know it's not a ramen place but the broth was extremely salty. Pork tasted good but overcooked/tough. Had to eat at the bar which we were totally fine with. Make sure you make a reservation on weekend nights. Difficult to get service at the bar. 3 bartenders for a 20ish person bar yet ignored most of the time. Neutral: A bit loud downstairs if you're wanting something quieter. read more

We cam in for dinner around 6:30 on a Saturday and were seated promptly. They do not take reservations, but I was told on the phone that most people do not need to wait more than 20 minutes and this appeared to be true for those that came after us. The cocktails were unique and well made with infusions of the vodka and gin made on premises. The still, which is behind the bar, was set-up and lit in the same way that the nearby steel stacks are, which I thought was a very cool touch. The food was fantastic, we were there for restaurant week and chose that menu. I had the Southside revival, the Braised & Blue Flat Bread, and the cheesecake. All delicious. I also had the gimlet, which was one of the best I have ever had. You can buy bottles of their spirits to take home, and you can actually enjoy your meal in the bank vault. Things that you should know going in: They have their own parking lot, which is a treasure on the south side. Since it's in an old bank sound echos, if you can't deal with a lot of background noise, you may not enjoy your experience. The menu is very limited, but every single thing on it is fantastic. Make sure you have a designated driver, the cocktails are not watered down. Social Still is definitely going to the top of my list for nights out! read more

We had lunch. Creative cocktail menu-drinks beautiful and flavors well balanced. Food was excellent - I had the beet salad and hubby had the burger- both exceeded expectations. Cool historic building. Be sure to make reservations. read more

What a great place. As you can guess, all of the drinks feature the gin and vodka made in the distillery. ATMOSPHERE: It's an old bank that has some new life! The group I was with had the pleasure of sitting in the banks vault which still has the cage inside of it (neat touch). Trendy looking place. DRINKS (and such): They have a drink list of about 12 named drinks, a few non alcoholic ones, and I imagine you can get their gin and vodka mixed with one other thing (et al...you vodka and cranberry juice people....I imagine they could do that). Loved the Southside and the Herbalist on the mixed drink side. They serve small plates if you are hungry....about 6-7 appetizer sized items. Didn't indulge this time, but in the future for sure. SERVICE: EXCELLENT!!! The server was incredibly knowledgable and knew the ins and outs of the place (you'd have no idea that they just opened....she seemed very seasoned). I don't know the owners, and I'm not necessarily a gin / vodka person....but I do know I liked the place, and the drink was very very good (refreshing as weird as that might sound......you wouldn't think so being alcohol and the like...but that is the best way to describe it). Go here......just for one if not indulging (or two or three if you have a driver)...and I don't think you'll be disappointed. You certainly can taste the gin and vodka. read more

I've been here a few times and have always been impressed with the service and atmosphere! The stainless steel stills behind the bar are lit with various LED lights to provide a relaxing environment. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. It can get pretty busy on the weekends so may want to make a reservations or visit during the week. Either way you won't be disappointed, this place rocks! read more

Social Still - A few old fashions - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

I really wanted to like social still. I love their aesthetic and what they are trying to do with homemade liqueurs---which are pretty good by them-self, but, there were some issues. First, the food was mehhh. I got a flat bread, it tasted like it could have come from a fast food place. Not bad, just blasé. Then the $10 cocktails. Once again not bad, but nothing special or worth the mark up. The old bank building is great and the interior is nice, though the acoustics are tough---they definitely need some sound dampening panels. Overall lots of flash, but too little bang. Id be back if my friends were going out, but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

I was here years ago and just went back over the weekend thrilled to see they kept up with the quality. i had the warm goat cheese salad and a burger plus the sugar salt rim lemon cucumber drink I I think, wonderful. Everything was fresh and well cared for, no bruised or questionable greens anywhere. On my way out the door I bought the Sasquatch bourbon and the vodka, both are going to be gifts :) read more

Always visit when hitting the nearby casino- Sands. Sands has limited dining options. Beautiful old bank building converted into a restaurant and bar. Food is creative and good. Enjoyed the machine, burgers and sandwiches. Never disappointed. Drinks are intriguing and also very good. Great view of the stainless steel tanks at the bar. At nighttime the tanks are back lighted which makes it even more fantastical. Makes several different types of liquor and all are for sale for take home. Ask them to give you a tour of the distillery operation if they have a staff person available. read more

Before novel corona virus covid-19, this place had fun cocktails and an inventive menu that delivered a good time. Post novel corona virus covid-19 with the liquor stores closed in Pennsylvania, I turned to their bottle store and discovered that underneath those cool cocktails was top shelf vodka and the best London dry gin I've ever had. When the world comes back on line go to Social Still. In the meantime, go to the bottle store. You will never go back to your old brands. read more

Spent yesterday afternoon on a "neighbor boys out" trip to the Socil Still. Started with a tour of the distillery and the had lunch. The 7 of us had a great time. The tour given by Adam was outstanding, his knowledge and passion about distilling was truly impressive. The products we sampled, vodka, gin & bourbon were first rate. We followed the tour with lunch which all agreed was excellent. Do yourself a favor an visit Kate &Adam at the Social Still for a very enjoyable experience read more

I came here for lunch on a weekend and was so charmed by the ambience and then disappointed by the food and service. The space is adorable and the menu very appealing. But it took over an HOUR for our food to arrive and when it did my chicken sandwich was not that hot and not that great. Plus our server was not too empathetic that we were waiting so long for our food when the restaurant was only about 1/3 full for a Sat lunch. This place has great reviews and is so cute I really want to like it. I hope to come back and try it again in the future. read more

What an amazing experience. We had an awesome server who was knowledgeable (Sara) and the manager Andrea completely made our night. Love this place! Called 3:30 last Saturday for 5:30 reservations. Andrea was so helpful with our needs. She remembered me when we got there and we had the pleasure of sitting in the vault! Waitstaff is excellent, Andrea stopped by to see how everything was. Our waitress was more than happy to snap a couple of pictures. The food is absolutely amazing here! A treat for the tastebuds and the drinks are second to none. Practically every time I go there, the owner Adam stops by and talks to us...such a great guy! This is a MUST for dinner or drinks!!! How freaking awesome is the GM Andrea?? She's the reason this place runs so smoothly. She has a great team, the food is bomb and the drinks are A+. Try the barista which is a coco nib, coffee infused bourbon. We had the nachos this time but have tried multiple items off the menu and we've never been disappointed. This place deserves more than 5 stars for sure. KUDOS. read more

Excellent place for drinks and food. The atmosphere is nice here and even has distillery equipment on show behind the bar. I ordered the duck and gin and tonic. The duck was outstanding with a nice crispy and delicious crust on a bed of sweet potato mash and sprouts. Delicious! The gin and tonic was possibly the best one I've ever had. The spirits at this place are excellent as expected and live up to the name. The gin and tonic went down very easily. I went in with high expectations and left with them met/exceeded. I even picked up some whisky with tumblers from the store afterward. read more

If they had half stars I would rate the Social Still a 4 1/2. We visited here during greater Bethlehem restaurant week and we ordered off of the price fix menu. They started with a cocktail, main dish and then a dessert. Sorry I can't remember the full name of the drink I had but sassy was in the title and it was made with vodka and Jalapenos and it was very good. Two people in our party tried the sampler which was of their own vodka and gin. I liked the vodka as that was all I tasted. I'm not a gin fan so your on your own with that. Don't go here if you are looking for a full meal. What I mean by this is they have tasty bites. This is a good place to meet up with friends and have some drinks and a few snacks. On their website they do not list their menu so you wouldn't be able to come to that conclusion. Needless to say I came home still hungry after our visit and I'm not a big eater and usually bring home half of my meal so that for what it's worth. Our service was excellent!!! They had staff checking in on us quite often and they had no problem taking care of our requests. We were never told "Oh, I'll let your server know." They worked very well as a team and everyone was doing what they needed to do and that was taking care of the customers. The only thing I would complain about is how long it took for the food to come out. We were there for 2 hours+ and we had a several drinks, two each and then our main dish which was 2 flat breads and 2 tuna tar tar and then 2 cheese cakes and 2 cannolis. Keep in mind this is a very small place so there wasn't a ton of tables but, all of the tables were full. We were out with friends so it's not like we were in a hurry but something to keep in mind if you are on a fixed time schedule. Our main dishes were very good and everyone was happy :-) Also the noise level is pretty loud as it is a small place...... read more

Beautiful bar with a full view of the distillery. Color lights lights give the bar a modern and comfortable atmosphere. It gets a bit loud but as an old bank the high ceilings carry the noise s bit. But it's still a great date place. Didn't try the food but the drinks were well made and the in house spirits are z nice touch. You can even buy thief various products to take home. Great Moscow Mike BTW. The cocktail menu is unique. Overall a great experience and a perfect stop on the way in or out if the nearby casino. read more
