Much like a Allana B, It seems that I have the same issue with this company as her. On May 9, 2017 we signed a contact for a gable roof patio and a deposit was given. Lori and Bruce told us the start date was June 6. When June 6 arrived, I received no call, text, or email about the patio. I attempted to contact Lori and the business by leaving numerous calls and emails with no reply. After a couple of days, Lori responded to my wife via email and told her that the our start date was still undetermined. Once again, I was forced to contact Lori via email for a new start date for our patio. I was given a date of July 5 and was told that if anything changed I would be notified. Well, it's July 5 and I was severely disappointed again. When no one showed, I contacted Lori via text message and was told the installer was off on July 5th and 6th. I am a very reasonable and patient man but this is getting ridiculous. After my initial meeting with Lori and Bryce, communication has been almost non existent. If you try calling Lori or the company you'll be greeted with a answering service. I've called several times trying to talk to somebody numerous times but no one has returned my calls. It seems that customer service, punctuality, and even a contract I does not matter to this company. I'm still waiting for my patio to get built but wish they would have told me there was a three month wait. When I email Lori, I am often confused by her replies. She scheduled my job for July 5 but then gave me the excuse the worker was scheduled off on July 5 and 6. I'm not sure why some would schedule a job when their workers are off. Lori often makes the excuse that they are extremely busy with home shows and conventions but I'm not sure how that should impact me. We signed a contact with a specific start date and this company has not honored it. I'm not sure if they are prioritizing bigger jobs over ours which is causing this delay. As of today, I still do not have a start date for my patio. Hopefully someone in the company see this post and will give me some kind of answer regarding my patio. It has been very frustrating dealing with the lack of communication and constant changes of the start date with this company. I will keep updating this post as it goes. Hopefully my patio can be built before the summer ends. UPDATE: I have been dealing with Troy who has been awesome. The patio was diminished within a week of contacting Troy and the job looks outstanding. Troy told me the issues I had with his company are being dealt and should not be a issue for future customers. This review is long overdue, we purchased a rather large patio cover (40'x15') in 2017 and had major delays on the project. It took almost 8 weeks before the process was started and had one installer for the entire project. After about a month or so when the cover was completed we noticed dripping in several locations (there wasn't any rain at that time) and figured it might be condensation, we were WRONG... Once the first rainfall hit the cover leaked in several locations. We contacted Troy and he did have it looked at but it continued to leak. After months of "phone" tag we had another visit from Bryce but it still leaked in the same locations as before. We contacted Troy in late January and he said he would stop by to take a look and that was the last we heard. This year because of the major rainfall it leaked at almost every seam and even off the ceiling fan (not near the seam) which means water got inside the cover. Needless to say our VERY expensive investment has turned into our worst property nightmare. Also the city I live in requires permits, we weren't aware of this or would have put in the original contract (that's on us). We asked for this verbally but we all know what good verbal is. However that said, we have had other contract work done and everyone we spoke with knew the city codes/requirements and automatically put them in. As a provider you should at least know the laws for the cities you do work in and advise accordingly. Now I am going to be forced to look at another company to fix the work and will need to work with the city on permits. At this time I can't recommend SoCal for this type of work. read more

This is the worst experience I have ever had with any company. I contracted with them to redo my patio, run electric for a spa, and pour a concrete pad for the spa. I had to argue to get any work done, and the work that was done they did not pull permits, as per the contract. I went online to the contractors license board to see how I would file a complaint and what rights I have, only to find that their license is suspended! Now I am out over $7000 for work that was done wrong and a patio that is not even started. The owner Troy has yet to respond to my demand for my money back so I can get this shoddy work fixed. Not big on leaving reviews unless something is awesome or horrible and this fits in the horrible category. From the start it's been an uphill battle where our Liferoom was supposed to be started around a certain time, finished around a certain date, to permits not being taken care of as discussed. Most problems I can deal with and I'm a very patient person and I understand completion dates are estimated but we're 6 months in to having a fancy Alumawood patio cover that is still yet to be 100% completed. Communication with Troy (the owner) has been less than ideal and while going through this process, Bryce has since taken over handling more of the day to day operations, which had improved our situation and things were getting fixed, but now I haven't heard anything. When the Liferoom was "finished", a strip of the mood lighting did not work. A short time later, one of the motorized screens some how got off track. Now the strips of mood lighting are falling down and with the recent rain, the roof began to leak. We've invested too much money in something that hasn't functioned properly from the start. Again, things not working properly from the manufacturer I will not fault the company for, but not going above and beyond to make the situation right, especially things within their control, I'm definitely not okay with that. Most recently the 1 Liferoom installer (Edgar) they have hurt his back and was out. I read a review of a project completed on 2/27, which said "Edgar did a great job". I was told he was hurt in January and haven't heard any updates about fixing my issues because I figured he was still injured. He's obviously back to work. I'll refrain from commenting on any other work they do, but if you're looking to get a Liferoom built, I highly suggest going elsewhere. This was a miserable process that's still incomplete but they're already paid and on to the next job. Guess I'll still just continue to impatiently wait my turn to fix my issues so I can possibly have full functionality of something I waited a long time to finally purchase. I met Bryce at the home show. Later Bryce and Lori came over to give me a quote. It was pretty good. I had about five or six quotes and did a lot of research before purchasing. They had the best deal. Later I met Troy the owner and he was also very nice and pleasant. Then came the day for installation. I was very excited. Both my Patios went up without a hitch. Well there were a few bumps in the road but not because of So Cal. The co putting in cement didn't put in patio electric. But within about a week we had that taken care of and the patios were able to be continued. Adam,Chase and Jim did a great job. We had some minor lighting issues which Adam made several trips back to take care of until we were satisfied. I am very picky and Adam was a trooper. I have an 18 x 50 patio and a 14x16 patio. All with lights and fans. Double switches. Then Adam even installed the hooks for my hammocks. I would gladly recommend this So Cal Co to all my friends and family. Thanks guys for a job well done!! Here's a quick very delayed update on this review. Contract signed 10/2017 - Project completed 3/1/2018. That's 2 projection screens (which was not the original plan, it was 3). You can see how long that took. That's the bad. The good. Scott is the man. Scott was sent to clean up the mess others had created, and he is the man. Just ask for Scott. Happy with the way it was finished, did the yelp review help get the ball rolling on the project???? hmmmm, I can't say for sure, but it sure was a coincidence. Do not use this company. They promise one thing but will dodge your calls and text. SoCal Home Improvement will eventually show up but will have some kind of excuse on why they cant return. The owner will never return any calls. No one from their company come by to check to see how there subcontractors are working. And claim the work is done by hand and that is the reason for the way it comes out. Then when you pay them, they will file a lien saying you didnt. We met Lori at Home Show. I needed patio cover replaced with the alumawood patio, skylight and lighting. A week later they came took measurements and give me really good deal. Then Troy came and did all measurements and we set installation date. Few bumps here and there but Troy always handled with professionalism and resolved it. Went to the Home Improvement/Garden Show in Pomona earlier this year and met Troy from So Cal Home Improvements. My wife and I were looking to build a free standing patio in our back yard and had contacted other alumawood companies however none of them built patios with tile roofing that required stronger and heavier quality aluminum and steel beams . Troy happened to have a photo hanging on his display of the exact patio we had in mind. Received a couple of quotes to build our patio out of wood, however both estimates exceeded our expectations. We scheduled a visit and Troy came out in a timely fashion and provided a quote for our patio that was more reasonable compared with the other quotes we got. After continued research and reviews, we decided to go with Troy and So Cal Home Improvements. Had to wait a while because they were really busy during the Summer months, however once started, they worked continuously until our patio was completed. Took several days for the footings under our existing slab to be dug due to so many rocks and boulders in the ground. However, once that was completed, Scott and Daniel were awesome in constructing our patio. They worked continuously on our job until completed. They were extremely professional, courteous, knowledgeable, personable, cleaned up everyday, and communicated well on a daily basis. They did everything from framing, trenching for electrical, all electrical work, fan and lighting instillation, and roof tiling. They were "jacks of all trades." We were fortunate to have them constructing our patio. Close to completion, we realized we wanted additional cosmetic beams installed and Troy arranged for their installation. Took a little longer than expected, however when completed, we were very pleased with our patio. Afterward, Troy came out to our home to ensure we were happy. Bryce and Troy came to the house several times because we changed our mind on our original design. They were very patient and had several suggestions that led us to our final design. Bryce and Troy handled everything with the City of San Dimas and our HOA. The installation took 2 days. Scott and Daniel were our installers. We had them come out 2 years ago. One guy say around the whole time then when it was time to do the enclosed part of the patio which that guy specializes in he went on vacation!!! It leaks water in 2 places and the fan and lights stopped working. It came with a limited guarantee but they have avoided all our attempts to contact them to come out and see what the problem is. Plus they had no record of our contract but we sent them a copy and still no reply!!! After 2 years they finally sent someone out, a new guy he said the others found employment elsewhere, I wonder why!! Lol The new guy said he didn't have the right tools and he'd be back I said see you in 6 months!! He said oh no ur in his radar!! Well it's been 3 months and he still hasn't called or come back!! I recently used SoCal Home Improvement to take down an old wood patio cover and replace it with a new alumiwood cover that even has a skylight. I couldn't be happier with the installation process and the final product. The entire demolition and installation took a total of two days. Needless to say I was very pleased. Tim and his helper worked very efficiently and professionally. The same was true for Scott and his helper when they came another day to install a vinyl gate. I love my new patio room! I contacted many contractors before finally going with So Cal Home Improvement. They were quick to respond, answered all my questions, and they were friendly. There was some mis-communication about the job at the start - Trevor (the salesperson) didn't make it clear to Troy that there would be a strip of concrete that needed to be completed before building the patio room. The work they did is very nice and they cleaned up well after they installed the patio room. The only thing that could have been better would be the skim coat job after the initial installation. It was a different work crew than the installation and they didn't pay as much attention to detail and didn't do as good of a job cleaning up afterwards. As a customer you do need to speak up and be direct about what you want with this company, as they seem to not communicate between each other well, but the good news is that they do listen. But overall - I'm very happy I went with SoCal Home Improvement! read more

Sounds like everyone else had or is having the same issue we are currently having. We signed our contract in July 2017...we were told about 6 to 8 weeks out to have our patio cover and concrete done.. well the concrete got poured Sept 7th and were told after a 30 day curing period the patio could be installed! Then we were told a couple of more weeks (3 weeks ago) But that we are on a LIST? Really? The concrete work was done excellent BUT here we are heading into November and we can't even get them to communicate with us. From 6 to 8 weeks now going into 4 months? I will update my review IF they ever get my patio done. I know they are busy BUT a little communication would be helpful after I've already paid them over 50% of the estimate . We paid the final payment today ending 6 months of challenges. The surrounding dirt that has 2" rock gravel in it and sand on it was never cleaned, but I have hired landscapers to clean it tomorrow. And, unexpectedly this Christmas season, I must get 4 grates that are acceptable to me to cover 4 different sized rectangular holes about 6x14" in the pavers that let air into vents in our crawl-space under the house. Troy, after offering ordered grates I did not find acceptable, gave a $200 discount for them. See the other comments below. The work that was done, I think is good work. Other cleanup, or rather patching, was completed skillfully since Thanksgiving. read more

UPDATE: I appreciate that since the initial review Troy, the boss has recently taken time to personally resolve the issues noted. Communication has significantly improved. Will update review as the project progresses. ----------- I have TRIED to do business with this company since February of this year. They have one out to my property 4 times since then to plan the construction to be done. This included (or so I thought): estimates, measurements, pricing, and blueprints to send for HOA approval. I was quoted a 6 week start time. It has now been almost 8 weeks since our contract was signed and I feel like this project is no where near it's start date. The boss, Troy, explained in his emails that he thought I was going to submit MY OWN drawings plans to the HOA. Whereas other companies I consulted produced drawn up plans in less than 2 weeks (professionally done, may I add). He's also asking about measurements that they didn't take?? Although they were at the property for hours supposedly taking down measurements and notes?!? Another huge let down is the lack of communication this company had with me. I feel like I have to hound Bryce to get any status updates from his boss. I feel like I just keep getting unacceptable and unprofessional excuses. It is quite unfortunate that after a number of calls and messages, nobody has found it professional enough to respond to our request for the next step after an initial consultation. I would not recommend this company. I signed a contract with them on July 30, met with the owner on Aug. 3 and was told at that time I would have plans in a week. As of Aug. 28 I still had no completed plans. Only hand drawn backyard plans ( that maybe took 5 minutes to draw)that did not include all that I had contracted for.I made several attempts to contact Troy to find out where my plans were for the front yard. Never received plans for my front yard.Due to their lack of communication, lack of follow through early on and a poor experience my neighbor had with this same company I decided I would not move forward with them. I lost complete confidence in this company. I sent them an email ending our contract and requesting my deposit back. They are refusing to return my deposit. I have filed a complaint with the CSLB. read more
