However, none of them were up to par when compared to McCabe Concrete. The owner Jim ( or Fred) was simply amazing for the following reasons. 1. Upon initial contact, Jim was quick to respond. The open line of communication remained throughout the course of the project. 2. It was extremely important for me to know the materials that were being used, the color and the finishing of the final product as well as the type of stones that were used so I can achieve my vision. Jim was extremely patience in receiving my input, as well as providing me with his expertise so the product can be visually and structurally sound. 3. Finally, Jim's pricing was extremely fair. He showed up to work on time daily, as well as completed the project on the date we have agreed on. Conclusion? I would contact Jim in a heartbeat for a future project, and I highly recommend you to do the same.

While he appears knowledgeable, he also appears to bid on the overall value of the home versus the job he is doing. He did offer two options, repairs and removing all the stone and reinstallation, but even his repair quote was more than the other two quotes for complete removal and installation of the stone. In the end I went with another local firm that did an excellent job at a third of the cost of what Tony quoted. Maybe this is a one off as I see Bernas has generally good reviews, but in my case I feel Tony was just trying to take advantage of an unfortunate situation. Now three months later I'm still receiving quotes and Bernas Masonry requesting the job, even though I have told Tony that I went with another company. Before you commit to these guys, just make sure to get at least another quote for reference, as in my case they were not competitively priced even had I gone with their cheaper option of a few basic repairs they were still more than the other guys completely redoing the job.

Luis came out not once, but twice because I changed the layout of we wanted to fit our budget but also so that the kids can have room to play in our backyard. Luis was eager, reliable, responsive, and professional. He listened to all of my wants and concerns and helped me complete my project in the timeframe I requested, which was about a week and a half. He also saved us money because he stated we did not need drains , when 2 other local masonry businesses said that we did. I had a ton of questions and sent many texts but wasn't sure when and if I was ready to start our project but Luis was patient, and answered all of my questions immediately. Luis had a personal family matter that he needed to tend to but made sure to update me and continued to show up to finish our project. The outcome was exactly what we envisioned. I opted for a layout of concrete and I also have some areas of SOD by the fruit trees so the kids can play around with fear of getting injured of the hard surfaces. It was a backyard makeover and we received compliments from our family members about how the backyard looked great, was functional, and how we were able to utliize the space we had back there that was dirt and weeds before. Complete transformation at a competitive cost. Our kids are now able to ride their bikes, razor scooters, and run around. We put up a canopy and a shaded swing. The morning of the start of the project, Alex came to go over the project with my husband to make sure they were both understanding of the work that was to be done.
