I had an unfortunate experience with CJL Construction Company. One of their general contractors, Ceasar, was extremely disrespectful, even giving me the middle finger while driving on the freeway. I had explained to him that materials had flown out of his truck bed and hit my windshield. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, he responded with rudeness, which I documented with photos. After finally pulling over, he refused to provide any identifying information, including his driver's license number. I informed him that the police were on their way, but he fled the scene. I have photos of the company truck and of Ceasar, along with the commercial license plate number 95068G3 and truck CA #140829. Please be cautious when dealing with this company. When I attempted to call the number displayed on the side of the work truck, I reached Ceasar's work phone. I requested to speak with management or an insurance representative, but he claimed to be the manager and refused my request. Cesar Leon and his team from CJL Construction just finished landscaping my backyard. They put in concrete, sprinklers and grass. I chose to work with CJL, after researching multiple contractors. I had a vision for my yard and got a variety of responses while getting a free quote from various vendors, ranging from "we can't do that," to "why would you do that?" Only a couple vendors saw my vision, noted the complications and hurdles, but suggested ways to still fulfill what I'd been planning for years. Cesar was one such vendor, who supported my vision and with his suggestions and expertise made it a reality. The team spent the first couple days setting up the yard for pouring concrete and laying sod. They worked efficiently and effectively, like a well-oiled machine. It was impressive to watch. The only thing more impressive was watching them actually pour the concrete. They were meticulous and purposeful during each step and for every square inch of the pour. I watched them spellbound for several hours from my upstairs window just utterly impressed with their skill and their precision. They came back the final day to put in grass, which they did with the same care as they had from day one. The result was, basically, a job well done, a price better than others (who weren't even going to give me what I really wanted), and a new friendship with Cesar, a fair, conscientious, and capable contractor. If ever I am in need of another landscaping project, I need not go through any research process again. I will go straight to Cesar and CJL Construction. Finally, I should add, one of the reasons that sealed the deal for me, about why I chose CJL Construction, was due to who referred them to me. Cesar Leon has done work for me at both my rentals and for me at our home. His professional manor is second to none. He delivers on what he says he is going to do. The price he quotes is the price he sticks with. He know what needs to be done and he doesn't come back later with lame excuses why he needs to charge more. As a matter of fact, I have multiple times said, "You know.... what do you think about adding this or that?" No matter what the question, concern or idea me or my wife had about our pool project, Cesar had the answer for us. He transformed our backyard from a hopeless dirt yard to something beautiful we can enjoy everyday. From start to finish, Cesar and his crew were there every step of the way. Cesar said he forgot his appointment with me when I called inquiring his whereabouts. He apologized and asked to reschedule. I cut him some slack and rescheduled for the same time and day the following week. This time he requested that I text him my address the night before to remind him of our appointment (a businessman that can't keep his own calendar?). Well I texted him as he requested and he stiffed me again. I texted an hour after our scheduled appointment and he has yet to reply. The way a contractor keeps his appointments and communicates with potential customer is an indicator of the kind of work you will get. So I'm not giving him another shot. read more

Cesar was highly recommend by another customer who's job came out beautiful. After meeting with Cesar who is a pleasant man, he created a plan for my landscaping incorporating everything I wished. The price tag was quite high for such a small courtyard. He strongly suggested I use his "loan company" to complete it. He texted me to see if we were to move "forward" with the project I said yes but needed to revise the plan so it fits into my budget in order to pay cash. I never heard from him again. Summary: Excellent contractor. Nearly always on site, supervising his crew. Any problems or concerns were quickly addressed. When I do my front yard I will definitely give him a call. We bought a newly constructed house in a new subdivision. Our backyard was just dirt with a slope in the back. We saw a backyard architect and had her put together a plan. We received several quotes for this plan, but Cesar's was the most fair. He had done several yards in our neighborhood and took us to see them, which were all beautiful. He made multiple great suggestions which we implemented. He built the retaining wall, graded the rest of the yard, put in paving stones, a firepit, several curbs and planters, and planted every tree you see. The stepping stones are stamped concrete. He also set up the irrigation systems and tied them into the master switch in the house and dug out a drainage system. He also worked well with outside contractors that put in gutters and the patio cover. He was almost always there showing his workers what to do 6 days a week. And if I had a problem or question he was there or a simple phone call away. He let us choose what paving stones and veneer we wanted as well as what artificial grass. The only cons: because of covid the paving stones cost more than we expected. Also at the end of the project I had to call Cesar a couple of times to finish some detail work, but he would always come the next day and finish everything up. On the whole, Cesar went above and beyond, giving us multiple additions which weren't originally in the plan, but made our yard much more beautiful and livable. For example, our original plan only had 7 privacy trees, but we increased it to 23, and he put them all in without an additional cost. Horrible people. Cesar behaves like a rogue and a manner-less person. ( proves that he is a UN-educated by his behavior). His service to my remodeling and addition was pathetic. He doesn't have a huge team, rotates with few ppl for multiple job. Anyone going with him, be sure to get a time frame in the contract ( but my advice, not to go with him, waste of money and sleepless nights). He will say he will do for cheap, but he will ask you to pay for the materials ( excess materials, someone of them he uses it for his projects, like expensive nails, sheets, etc). Very deceptive, sweet when getting the contract, then he behaved like a goon once the project started. Better be prepared to have an attorney when you work with him. Better avoid him. read more
