I have been working with and referring my contractor for many years but unfortunately he has moved his company to a different state so I had to find another reliable contractor. I found this company through google and I will have to say I would not recommend this place. The contractor came to my clients house and I explained the work that I needed to be done and he said he could not provide me with a quote right then and he would come back in two days to provide me with a quote. Carlos had me send him several pictures of the wall so he could give me a pre-estimate to see if I was still interested. His price beat all other competitors and his timeline for completion was going to be one day, start to finish. Other contractors said a couple of days to week of having my living space in disarray. After letting him know I was definitely interested. He arranged to come to my house the next day to look at the wall infrastructure to see if he would run into any unforeseen issues. He cut a couple of small holes into the drywall and confirmed he could finish the job in one day. He scheduled the work tentatively 6 to 8 weeks out but also told me he may call me if there is an unexpected gap in work due to a cancellation or permit hold up on other projects. Sure enough he called me a couple of days later asking if they could come the next morning at 7AM to begin the work. He showed up with two workers; his son and another man. Together those three moved swiftly removing the wall, putting up temporary framing, removing the existing framing and inferior beam, and then installing the engineered wood beam. I would occasionally pop out of my room to see if they needed anything and to my shock they would have made more progress than I had hoped. The entire project took 9 hours. AMAZING JOB FELLAS! If I ever need any framing work or another wall removal, Carlos and his team are definitely going to be the first guys I reach out to. Message to the Company - Thanks guys! Don't know where to start, Carlos, sons and crew were like family for almost 2 months really hated to see them leave when this massive job was done. It started with a sunroom addition that I started over 20 years ago but I never completed. His bid was lower than other bids. We had received a quote from another contractor that I had to let go because he kept changing what he said he was going to do. Carlos and crew started every day at 7:00a.m. sharp and I mean sharp. After the sunroom was done and new floor installed, then they started a patio cover with demo of old cement and then new two tone colored cement wrapping around to the front of the house. Also, changed out all doors and windows with new construction style. Then we did a re-stucco of the whole house and old block walls. This was done by another contractor that Carlos knows, if Carlos cannot do something he knows of an expert that can. I requested a quote on a Monday for rebuilding a garage wall. He had me send pictures, came out on Tuesday and gave me an estimate. Started the next Tuesday (because Monday was a holiday). His original estimate was that it'd take a week (which seemed aggressive to me). However, he's so organized, that he finished in four days (excavating, demo, pouring a new footing and stem wall, replacing a beam, building the new wall and sheathing it). I contacted this Guy Carlos last week on Friday for an estimate on the framing I have to get on the ADU which I am converting to a Garage, after 6 six days he gave me a quote today, not only his quote was very high, he didn't even look at the plans I sent to him by email. He thinks I was born yesterday. He said he didn't see the door of the ADU in the plans and the ADU needs to be demolished, who will tell this amateur that the door is clearly visible on the plans and the structure is not going to be demolished because it's a conversion. When I told him this he hanged up on me. Stay away from this scam artist, save your money and save your time. You said you have six plans with you and don't know which plan is mine. Secondly, I am not into construction so you got to explain me things. Thirdly you said you would have to demo the whole a garage, and I replied that no, garage will not be demoed as per the plans as it is a conversion and then you hanged up on me. Called Carlos and requested a quote for a smaller scale job. His response was prompt and he was very knowledgeable. Carlos provided a quote that was on the very, very high end of the spectrum for what was to be done and, in our eagerness, we were asked for a deposit to retain him on schedule which we did provide. Unfortunately, after getting a late second quote the following day from another company, which ended up being much more reasonable, I called to cancel the job and was told the deposit was not going to be refunded and that I had paid for the quote and his time. Begrudgingly, though I do understand everyone's time is important and worth something, I had hoped to apply the deposit, which is over 1/10th of Carlos' total quote and 1/4 of the more reasonable offer, as payment for completed services. Speaking to the etiquette of this situation I'm not sure what's most appropriate in the handling of the deposit but cant help to feel a bit slighted after being provided such a high quote in the first place and then being told I've lost my deposit. I was contacted by Carlos after requesting a quote for my project and he was very professional and took his time explaining everything over the phone. He said he would send me a quote the next day, but that quote never came. I gave him an additional 2 days and then reached out to him about my quote and he told he was extremely busy and started asking me the same questions again. I had to remind him of our previous conversation and sent pictures to help remind him. He called me and apologized and gave me a quote over the phone. I asked him for a firm quote and he said he would send it, which again never came. I text him asking him if he would be sending me a firm quote and that it didn't seem right that I was contacting him when I felt it should be the other way around. The communication was perfect, the final project (a large one) came in exactly as quoted, and Carlos and his crew work FAST. The long version: I needed to gut the kitchen on a 2 story, 100 year old home which included removing 2 load bearing walls. It was extremely difficult to compare kitchen remodel quotes because the wall removal line items were all over the place or could not be determined by the various remodelers we met with. I decided to remove the walls before I got any additional remodel quotes. I found Skyline Framing on Craigslist, and then did my due diligence reading reviews and verifying they have a current license (for most projects I don't care about licensing, but you never want to take a chance with structural). I spoke to a few contractors, received a few quotes - Carlos thought of a few options the other contractors had not - but when comparing apples to apples he was charging 30% less than the next lowest quote, and because of his knowledge and professionalism I had no reservations about working with him. From the time I handed him the plans that were approved by the city, the entire job took 7 business days to complete (and keep in mind he had to go to the foundation and pour new concrete pads to support the new beams - and the job required 2 city inspections).
