The morning of the start of the project, Alex came to go over the project with my husband to make sure they were both understanding of the work that was to be done. My husband was concerned about a drain pipe next to where the cement would be poured, and was worried about it being damaged during the dirt removal. After the dirt was removed, Alex ran water down the drain to show us that the pipe was undamaged. He listened to my husband and made sure to pour the cement a couple inches from the drain pipe, so there was no chance of any damage. Alex was also very flexible with scheduling. He was able to reschedule the cement pour day on short notice, so that my husband would be home on that day. Alex and his crew arrived on time, which I appreciate. I've had a lot of work done in the past, and it always upsets me when contractors are late. At the end of each workday, the crew cleaned meticulously to ensure the work area was clear of dirt and debris. Alex and his crew were always respectful of our property. They did fantastic they did a full gut job demo of the front and the back yard. They did concrete, turf, a garden bed, and some planters. They planted all the new plants and set up irrigation. We have a small back area it's more of a big patio and small front yard but with his attention to detail it came out nice. I found Tapia's Concrete here on Yelp, which has never let me down for quality contractors for our home improvement and repair projects. I was glad to find Tapia's was no exception. There seem to be many companies that will have concrete installed, but they often subcontract it out. I wanted to deal directly with a concrete contractor as I had a big driveway project that needed to be done right. The old driveway was done badly with no supports underneath and was cracked, ugly, and falling apart. I found Alex Tapia to be friendly and easy to book a quote with. When he came we talked about what we wanted, and he measured it out and gave us a quote right away. We were happy with his competitive pricing, and by talking with him we got that he is experienced, really knows concrete and takes pride in his work. We have a large, sloped driveway and had the top half replaced, along with the apron at the bottom where it met the street. The old apron was patchy asphalt and we had it replaced to match the rest (see pics). We decided on using colored concrete for the main area, Alex gave us a color chart and some good advice on colors. For a nominal price, adding color really makes a huge difference. All the way through, we found Alex to be very organized and communicative. He gave us a payment schedule and told us exactly how the job would go, step by step. We discussed the placement of all the joints and he planned them very well so they would look nice and not too intrusive. Each day Alex and his workers came they were right on time and worked efficiently. The demo was a tough one, as the old concrete was poured badly and super thick in some places. The crew cleaned it up well and disposed of it legitimately at the dump designated for concrete, very important after seeing the illegal dumping done by some companies in our area. Alex was here each day with the crew and gave me a full update on what was done, what they would do next, and when. He only did our job at the time, so we didn't have to wait while he was doing others. He was also good about contacting me by phone call or text when there were questions or anything else, as well as getting back to me by the end of the day when I called. The concrete pour was a big day with Alex and the crew monitoring everything closely, as it pretty much has to go perfectly. The crew was well trained, each person had a specific job and they were very on top of things. As I had hoped and expected, all the work turned out beautifully with no issues. They did an excellent job, and my husband and I were very happy with the huge improvement the new concrete driveway made in the curb appeal of our home. I got three of the better rated concrete companies I could find to quote on a job to build a capped retaining wall (about 25+ feet) and lay concrete in my small backyard. The challenging part of my yard (while still pretty small) is that the only direct access is through my garage (I have no side gates with direct access from the street / driveway due to how our models were constructed). All three companies actually were within $200 (or less) of each other so I felt pretty confident that the pricing I was getting was accurate and fair. I decided to go with Alex / Tapia's concrete services as I felt based on the questions they were asking (drainage, colors and look for the wall, what I planned to put on the concrete, etc.) that they had a well thought out plan and had everything covered (even down to planning for extra time due to the odd lay out of access to the backyard and having to accommodate for my neighbors getting in/out). We're really happy with how it all came out, the wall looks great, colors match what we had expected, new drainage outlets were dug and connected to the main drain (even left 2 spouts for when we get rain gutters) and the concrete work looks professional (still drying but the splotches are slowly fading to a single lighter color). It's a pleasure to share my great experience using Tapia's Concrete Service. Alex and his crew are professional, reliable and do quality work at a very fair price. Alex showed up on time for the estimate, and both days during the project. One side of my house had no walkway. I hired Alex to pour about 38 feet of concrete for the walkway, and also to fill in part of the corner area where the rear patio meets the new walkway. Just prior to pouring the concrete, I realized that a small brick extension that I asked Alex to build did not leave space for the drip line to fit between the fence and the new concrete in the corner area. My fault, not his. Alex snaked some PVC under the base and fed the drip line through, and didn't ask for any extra money. Everything was done with quality, care, on time and on budget. And, they clean up their mess, too. What a rarity these days. I gladly gave these guys some extra money. I will gladly hire Tapia's again if I have a need for concrete work.
