After living at our current residence for seven years, my wife and I finally grew tired of the basic mulch and plants that were given to us along with all of the other new build homes. Looking for a company to transform our front yard into something spectacular, we reached out to Abarca. Efren promptly came out to give us a quote and after taking some time to discuss it, we moved forward with him. His professionalism, attention to detail, and artistic talent were on full display as he walked us through what our yard could look like. Abarca began working on our project as soon as possible and Efren was regularly there giving input and keeping us informed every step of the way. Whenever an idea or new vision came to him, he would text or call us to walk us through it, but we never felt we were being upsold. In many cases, the price didn't even increase or it even decreased with his suggested changes. Everything he pitched truly had our best interests in mind. Along the way, we also worked closely with David, Anthony, Carlos, Savanna, and the crew that put in countless hours of hard work. Every single one of them were amazing and made us feel very valued. Very impressed with our experience with Abarca Landscape. Efren provided our quote and even came out several times to measure and design our project. We hired Abarca to do an initial landscape install for our back and side yards at our new construction home. We had then pour concrete, create concrete barriers, level out the yard, add plants, mulch, lava rock, lighting, and drip lines. I got your number from a neighbor getting work done, and called Efron on a Wednesday and asked if he could give me an estimate on removing a tree. He told me no job is to small. He said he would call me back that evening to set up an appointment. It's been almost two weeks and no call, it doesn't matter now anyways, as I called a company who wants work, and came out and gave me an estimate the next day. The root cause of the issue was that the crew forgot to schedule in a day to wire the 4th valve they set up into the system. They didn't inform the project manager or Efren that a 4th valve was installed so neither myself nor my husband knew about it - and my husband was managing only 3 valves. Since it wasn't wired in the sprinkler controller, the Kurapia was not being watered, which is why when I dug around to find water dripping from the lines, I couldn't find any. As of 06/16/23: Anthony was professional and made sure to replace the Kurapia. They also came by twice to add more brimstone and re-compact it to reduce the cracking. There is still cracking, but not as severe as before. Eventually we are just going to have it redone with actual DG and not Brimstone. I hope it can be a lessons learned for more effective communication and project management. Just a few key takeaways: -they are very professional about resolving the complaint -they kept to their word -they were patient with us and our frustrations -great design and vision (Efren) -honestly the best contractors we've ever worked with aside from the people who replaced our HVAC and did our drywall. -Kurapia will dry out a little at first, but after a couple of weeks it will root and green up again. Warnings: -when offered brimstone as a DG option, do not select that one. It's a pretty color. However, the supplier (not Abarca) markets it as DG, but it's clay and quartz. I found this out after thorough research. Abarca genuinely believes it's DG, so it's not their fault I guess. However, as customers I recommend looking into the materials selected prior to finalizing to avoid issues such as this that are often hard to catch or foresee. read more

Efren and Anthony were awesome to work with. Efren came out and helped us a great amount to budget and build out our backyard. We had an idea of what we wanted but Efren was very easy to work with and helpful to refine our end goal. What made me go with them compared to others was their experience. Others did not give off a vibe where they do things by the books or cut corners. Sure there were other quotes I got that were a bit cheaper, but you get what you pay for. Others didnt suggest putting in drains which was iffy, and which is why they were slightly cheaper. Again why I went with Abarca. Abarca was able to do everything in-house compared to the other quotes I got stating they could only do portions of what I wanted. What we did for our project was: 1. Extend the patio 2. Add concreate walkways to the side yards, 3. Add fake grass/turf 4. Drainage 5. Added in trees 6. cheek curbs around the trees 7. irrigation 8. added an electrical box. Im also very happy they were able to accommodate framing around our AC unit which we cannot move unless we want to void the warranty. Took around 3 weeks to complete, they could have finished sooner had it not been for the rain. No blame on Abarca of course. Cant work when the ground is wet. It would not stop raining in January. I am more than happy with the work performed and look to do more projects with them in the future. Also, had a small issue with the irrigation system leaking that they tied into for the backyard. A year ago we took advantage of tge turf rebate and had Abarca redo our front and back yards (well, part of the back). Qualifying for the turf rebate isn't easy, but they knew all the rules so we ended up with gorgeous landscaping AND a significant $$$ rebate! It took them o nly 3 days to do a total transformation! We have a large side yard we wanted to landscape so waited to see how the previous job would last. It's filled in beautifully so we launched phase 2. I had a complete overhaul of my backyard done by Abarca landscaping. I could not be happier with the results, or with the service that the contractor Efren provided throughout the entire project! My yard is about 5000-6000 sqft, and there was nothing but dirt and weeds... I called Abarca, and Efren, the contractor, came by soon afterwards to go over the project with me. I had NO idea what to do with the yard, i have zero landscape design skill, all i had was a general outline of what i would like in my yard; namely, fruit trees, grass, and a fire pit area... In less than 20 minutes of walking my backyard, Efren came up with a plan and design for the yard that looks absolutely beautiful today. They are fully licensed AND insured, so you don't have to worry about someone getting hurt on your property and suing you. We are really excited to finally enjoy our front and backyard landscaping after 17 years. It started out as Efren was only suppose to do a small part in reviving the plants I had in my driveway. Regardless, he still gave us ideas on how to create cohesive landscaping and made recommendations for irrigation. The company we hired didn't bother to mention this part. We knew right there and then, it was Efren we wanted to work with. His plans consisted of lights, rocks and introduced dg granite for low maintenance. Efren designed as if it was his own. We had an idea of what we wanted. He just transformed it into 100 times better than we expected. We have a corner lot and noticed everyone slows down to admire our yard when they turn the corner. The results were so awesome that 6 months later we got them to do our backyard. David, the foreman was also instrumental in suggesting materials that were more cost efficient. We contracted with Abarca after interviewing several companies and obtaining quotes. They weren't the cheapest, but I felt very comfortable with Efren (project manager). He took his time to explain everything to us and was very professional the whole way through. His staff was awesome and they made sure to clean up everything nicer than it was originally. I've had headaches with my backyard for 6 years - having done 6 new yards in 6 years, with none of them "taking", a mixture of what is likely bad soil and having two dogs. I finally decided to bite the bullet this year and do artificial turf. I called Abarca Landscape and spoke with Anthony at length. He was up-front about the fact that they are a premium service and not the lowest priced, but that their pricing was competitive within the industry. I initially told him that the price was out of my price range, and that I would need to shop around. Even after telling this to Anthony, he spent a good 10-15 minutes on the phone just answering my questions. Ultimately, I felt so comfortable with Anthony that I decided the extra cost was wortwhile - "you get what you pay for," right? And I've spent so much the past 6 years trying to deal with the backyard issues, that having it done right was the most important thing. From there, things could NOT have gone more smoothly. The estimator came out the next day, and I had a price that evening. We scheduled the yard job, and it was completed in 1 day - crushing the original 3-day estimate I was provided (in large part because a larger crew was sent out). The yard came out perfectly. For the first time in 6 years, I actually can go outside and feel like I am in a pleasant environment. I can walk on the "grass" without feeling like it's lumpy or uneven. There are no weeds that grow a foot a week. And "cleanup" from the dogs is no longer a 2-hour affair. If I sound like I'm gushing - I'm sure that this is simply what should have been expected. But after going through so many companies and NOT getting what I expected, this experience was just so nice, I barely have words for it lol. This company was referred to me by my father in law who had his yard done a few months prior. We were told we were being squeezed in as a favor. Despite my property looking amazing, I would not recommend this company to others and would encourage folks to make sure they know what they want from a contractor. I don't feel we received good customer service and the company was not responsive or empathetic. We worked with Efren. At first things were fine but then we noticed a pattern and we never knew where we stood. We would only get calls back or a text back after days to a week of pestering. Voicemail box was always full. Anytime there was an issue and I reached out, I felt like a nuisance and feel I was treated like one. For example, the team was supposed to install a drip line, they didn't finish laying it down and they didn't program it. When I called stating it wasn't functional and asked when they would be back out, I was told that I wasn't looking at the line correctly. Then in Spanish while on the phone our manger confirmed with their team it wasn't completed and they had used the wrong line. Once installed, our drip line for our expensive fruit trees went crazy a few days later and wouldn't stop running. It resulted in a 5 gallon bucket of water collecting on just one of the three trees. When I called and texted Efren explaining it was an emergency and the valve was malfunctioning, it took 4 days to get a response suggesting to lower the timer which we hadn't changed from their settings. Many other things went awry or required multiple visits to finish/fix (wrong size concrete, bricks on the retaining wall not being adhered properly, trash and rusty nails onsite). We only got results when we would complain or pester. That's not what a homeowner or client deserves. While we quoted the full project, Abarca only did concrete, a retaining wall, and sod and irrigation. We spent our own money and sweat to produce a beautiful yard and saved a few thousand in the process. I will note they were flexible with us when we had to pause our project for HOA coordination, but even that shouldn't be the cause for the consistent issues we experienced. read more
