I've worked in property management for over 25 years. I've dealt with a lot of contractors during those years. I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly. Mendoza Masonry is the kind of contractor I only come across once in a couple years if I'm lucky. Ulisses is an outstanding professional. He is extremely pleasant to work with and does phenomenal work. You can immediately tell he takes great pride in his work. He naturally does things to perfection because it's just his nature. I have a beautiful Italian brick wall that needed to be cut to exact specifications for an intercom. It was a challenging job because there was no room for error and no do-overs if something went wrong. Ulisses and his guys took on the job like it was a walk in the park and nailed it perfectly. I will be the first to admit I am not easy to please and if something wasn't done perfectly it would have driven me nuts but I couldn't be more pleased. I look forward to my next opportunity to work with Mendoza Masonry read more

I couldn't be happier with my front yard results. I interviewed a ton of companies to do my front yard. After interviewing Ulisses and see the photos on Yelp, my gut told me this is right person . I highly recommend Mendoza Masonry. Ulisses provided a detailed bid identifying each of the sixteen steps with $, to complete our month long front and side yard project. He was on site with his team every day. They were professional, polite and kept us informed as to progress each day. And the work was completed on time and on budget! (And should we have a need for this type of work again...he's getting the job!) read more

Ulisses at Mendoza Masonry is a joy to work with. He consulted with us prior to commencing our project and are glad we followed all of his recommendations because the outcome was better than we could have hoped! We have a 50+ year old Spanish colonial style home with stucco walls and adobe brick, but the exterior planter boxes were built with regular brick that didn't match the house and also had 50 years of accumulated efflorescence. Ulisses rebuilt the planter boxes with concrete block then faced them with a matching adobe brick veneer and the result was so outstanding we also had him reface our fountain and part of the entryway. Ulisses is a consummate professional and was an excellent communicator throughout the project. Highly recommend!! read more

Excellent work from entire team! Professional, efficient, friendly, and concrete work looks beautiful! Thank you!

I'm keeping Ulisses on my contact list for masonry work. We had a boundary wall that gave our neighbors some concern with cracking. I contacted a handful of contractor who said they could do the work without any input of whether it was needed. Ulisses offered to come take a look so he could advise us. He was very responsive and arrived right on time. He assured us our wall was in fine condition and we just needed to monitor. I always appreciate honest feedback, when it would have been easy for him to jump into repairs. Highly recommended. read more

Reliable company with a great staff , highly recommend them, they are very professional -5 stars

Mendosa Masonry was a very professional company that does exceptional work. They extended our block wall 15 feet, removed a concrete stone firepit and planter wall, added concrete in the corner of the yard, and built a BBQ seating bar. Bidding went easy and they were priced very competitively. Ulisses was always very friendly throughout the project and informed me of each step. His team are skilled, and they always clean up after themselves. Of the work I mentioned above, these were 3 different projects. Because they did such good work with our block wall, I continue to use them for the remaining work. You cannot go wrong using Mendosa Masonry. I will use them for all my concrete work!! read more

Mendoza Masonry is awesome! Their estimate was very fair. They did stone work on the garage pillars, driveway with a ribbon design, a paver walkway and patio, and a pony wall. We had a good idea of what we wanted and I provided a color image as reference. Ulisses and his team brought these ideas to life. They are so professional, knowledgeable, talented, and display excellent workmanship in all they do. They showed up by 7am and were respectful to not make noise too early. Ulisses and the guys are friendly and offered some good recommendations for our projects. So glad we had them do the work on our house! read more

My yelp review is just a rating based on the failure to get a quote after I was told I'd get one (yes we did speak by phone). anyways, after their response, i'm updating my review to 5 stars and wish the company best of luck in all future endeavors. Appreciate them trying to make it right after the fact, but that won't be needed as i was fortunate to find another company who got the project done for me. read more

Was a little wary when I saw the few reviews here before hiring Ulisses, but he was one of two out of many requests to come out and make a bid on a relatively small project for a curb by my side gate. He did a phenomenal job and went above and beyond. Punctual, flexible, great workmanship as promised. Will not hesitate to refer and hire again for future masonry work. read more

I live in a HOA residential community. I was rquired to repair a retaining wall on my property. I found Mendoza Masonry. Contacted Ulisses who came out and gave a reasonable quote for the job. The wall had large cracks and a visible opening. A real eye sore. Within five days Ulisses came out to do the work. After completing the job I couldn't even tell the wall was ever in disrepair. The HOA was also satisfied. Mendoza Masonry is a small family business. Ulisses took over the company from his father. He even came out several days later to fix a cap on the wall that wasn't even part of the repair. As a courtesy! Bilinqual speaking if that matters. Great work. 5 stars! read more

Mendoza Masonry - My walkway - from front gate to front door. - Masonry/Concrete Near Me - Lake Forest, California

Ulisses replaced our aging and dilapidated wooden fence with a block wall. He worked with both me and the next door neighbor by splitting the invoice and contacting the neighbor separately for their half of the payment. A few weeks up to the job start date, he communicated often and was very professional. In fact the crew was also very professional, and the entire experience was perfect. The wall also came out great. They dug a deep trench, laid rebar and poured the foundation and then built the wall on top of it. Ulisses said it would take 3 days but it actually took only 2. If I need any more masonry work done, I will not hesitate to call Ulisses again. read more

Ulisses Mendoza and his crew were by far the best contractors I've ever come across. Starting with communication, Ulisses is responsive at every phase, from initial quote, to questions before signing, and on through every aspect of the project. Ulisses takes time to communicate with his customers along the way, to make sure nothing is missed. He is approachable and detailed, laying out options to make sure you get what you are looking for. Every job comes with some twists and turns, and no matter what they are, Ulisses works through them and corrects anything that needs correction. Mendoza Masonry won't be the least expensive option if you are getting multiple bids (but isn't the highest price either). Know this...that he is the best price for the absolute best quality work you'll find in the masonry contractor business. You truly get what you pay for with Mendoza! His fit and finish is precise, and work quality superb. As for job courtesy and etiquette, his team is respectful, cleanly, and on time every day. Ulisses is on site, working, managing, and ensuring job is on track. They do not delay and work very hard to meet your project timeline. I have used Mendoza twice, once for a slump stone wall rebuild and another for built-in barbeque island, and we are so proud of the end result. read more

Ulisses Mendoza did a fantastic job repairing a front planter bin where one side had completely separated due to a large tree root. He removed that wall section and preserved the original used red brick on top. He properly rebuild that section using rebar this time and proper footing. Then he made many small repairs in my brick walkway and some walls, by replacing several cracked bricks and fill in cracks. He built backwalls in my brick planter bins against the house that were original done without it such that it now complies with building code and protects the house siding from dirt and water. I can highly recommend him to my neighbors in Portola Hills and Lake Forest. He is easy to work with and his quality of work is outstanding! His prices are in line with industry practices. He is always on site with a few of his relatives and never uses day laborers. If you want quality work for a fair price without any hassles, call Ulisses Mendoza! read more

We hired Mendoza Masonry to apply waterproofing to the back wall of a planter which runs along the side of our house. They also installed a French drain in the planter and raised the existing sprinklers to the correct height. Ulysses and his crew did a wonderful job from start to finish.
