We had a tough job in historical part of Upland, and the quality exceeded our expectations! Unfortunately, I need to update my previous review since a few edge-to-joint hairline cracks appeared on the surface of the 3 large pads (of 5 pads) poured by JJ Masonry. This was very disappointing especially as the cracks appeared only one month after the concrete placement. The depth of the cracks is not known, but they are noticeable, as in the example in the picture attached. It is my believe that the cracks were created after so short time (a month) since JJ Masonry does not use rebar for surface expansion, but synthetic-fiber concrete mix instead. However, this needs to be better evaluated. Jose came to inspect and treat the cracks. Unfortunately, not a lot can be done beside filling the cracks with a crack filler, which is noticeable on the surface. read more

We needed all our old wood fences replaced w/brick walls. I got several quotes and Jesse came out the as the best not only in price, but in reviews. Him and his team were able to get the job done. It was a large project that took several weeks due to weather, etc. If there are issues, Jesse is responsive and willing to work w/us to get things done. Outstanding reliability (i.e., communicating, scheduling and keeping appointments, estimated costs, having good workers, etc.), everything you expect from construction project to complete timely. He apologized and said that he had a work emergency. He asked to reschedule for the following week and we agreed and made an appointment for him to come give us a more detailed quote. I sent out 10 bid requests, JJ Masonry was the first to respond right away (only three others actually responded). Jesse build a 90' split block wall with six pillars, wired for electric and stepped it down to the sidewalk. He checked all of our city codes and added extra rebar at my request. The wall is straight and plumb. Jesse's quote extremely competitive and his communication was spot on. Late review. I was looking around for a simple extraction of a flag pole cement base and install of a new one. I contacted numerous masonry contractors. Most of them said they wouldn't do it for reasonings I don't know. Some have estimates on here that were pretty steep. Some wanted to come out and do an estimate looking at the existing one. I reached out to Jesse from JJ masonry. Sent him a picture and explanation of what needed to be done. He responded almost right away and gave me a quote. I hired him right away. I asked Jesse when he can come out and do the job. He responded he can come the next day. I said no problem.
