Came here in February to look at a 2014 jetta. Drove an hour and a half to get here, and two hours to get back. Right away owner was rude and dismissive. We had an appointment, days in advance, yet when we showed up I didnt see the car. It was inside their "showroom" blocked in by SEVERAL other cars. He starts it and talks about it, before turning it off and walking back into his office, ok weird vibes. We start talking about financing, and it just got worse from there. My credit is good, and I had a grand to put down-on a 12 year old car, mind you- but I had a slow month at work, so my checks were smaller than usual. Dude starts talking about a cosigner now, and how we could run my credit but there's no point, blah blah. Why didnt you mention any of this on the phone, days before I wasted time and gas to drive out here? I did have a cosigner, but why pull that on me when I get there? Why wasnt the car pulled out of the "showroom" earlier that day, if we were going to test drive it? Rude, wasted my time and gas, and apparently didnt think they'd sell me a car? This place is exactly what you think it is when looking up a review. It's just like every other private car dealer, slimey and suspicious. I came here to look at a car. It was outside ready for a test drive and I saw this as a green flag, it also appeared very clean but it was a scam. After I purchased the car I was told that "it runs fine, the car just sounds weird when it starts, oh and the cd player doesn't work." There were also things I did not notice such as the overhead being taped so it looks like its intact. Make sure when you look at a car here, to check everything because they will not disclose it. And of course they tell you how GREAT of a deal you are getting. Lastly, they asked me to write a review before I left... that's probably where they get these 4 and 5 star reviews. In summary, the car I purchased is old and I expect it to not be perfect, but I would appreciate the issues to be disclosed and not hidden. And every other private dealer works just like them, just be careful when purchasing and look inside compartments and stuff. I'd call them scam artists, but that's giving too much credit. read more

Mike is a scam artist. He listed a car way above market rate then called me back to discuss, I never made him an offer on his poorly conditioned vehicle because I knew I didn't want to work with him or give him my business. Luckily I have a former car dealership that is helping me find a used car for my girlfriend who told us the price was way too high for a 19 year old car with 114,000 miles. Since I am also looking online I found comparable vehicles with only a slight increase in mileage that are six years newer for around the same price. Mike is rude and unprofessional, I would recommend not giving him your business because he will mistreat you while charging an inflated price. read more

They are USED CAR SALESMEN! They were very nice and helpful. The car seemed perfect, but 2 days later it wouldn't shift into gear (automatic trans). Took to my mechanic (I live 3 hrs away from dealer so this was the first available time to have it looked at) found it needs a transmission, tie rods, need tires due to those rods, all radiator hoses were original so they need replacing and the oil pan leaks. Total of $5000 in repairs, I paid $5900 for the car! They offered warranty and cancellation policies but they didn't take credit and I didn't have cash so I was kinda stuck and needed the car. A beautiful, single owner, '99 Porsche Boxster, original paint, like new canvas top and the best part is the transmission is freaking smooth and this car is 22 years old!.I just had my mechanic look at this car and said I have to do nothing with repairs or service. The interior is immaculate. It literally is a brand new car. Mike said the car was perfect and he didn't lie. Buyer beware. So Cal Auto Motors either doesn't do a good job at screening their vehicles or they sell them regardless with the safety net of "as-is". Within a week I learned the car had been in an accident (not on CarFax, but would have been easily identified by their mechanic) requiring a $1500 fix, had no coolant, needed a front headlight, blinker light falling off. Fortunately the GWC Warranty has come through for us so that was a worthwhile purchase. read more

They made sure I understood the essentials, and that I was getting a good deal. Mike took me out for a test drive of the 2008 VW Passat. It drove very smoothly and I was immediately interested. I wanted to do a pre-purchase inspection, and they were open to me bringing a mechanic to their location to get the car checked out. The battery on my car was pretty weak, so they replaced it for me free of charge. They were both concerned for my safety, so they suggested I pick up the car after the battery replacement instead of risking the drive back home! Mike, you just made an extremely stressful and complicated situation so much easier to handle for Lionel and I. I cannot recommend SoCal Auto more. When we found out they had a car almost identical to the one that we just lost we jumped on the opportunity to purchase it. My fiancee (Lionel) called Mike and expressed interest in the Volvo he had. I bought my 2010 Toyota RAV4 from them about a month ago (at a really great price I might add) and the car is still running beautifully!!
