I visited Pacific Auto Center to view a vehicle, then came back ready to negotiate and pay cash for it. The online listing made the car sound pristine, but in person, it had a long list of issues: broken trim, missing parts, mismatched tires, rusted rotors, and a non-functioning rear screen. These flaws weren't disclosed in the ad. Worse, the dealership attempted to charge $5,500 for paint protection, theft deterrents, tint, and other add-ons that were never discussed beforehand, despite claiming "no hidden fees." Their fine print later revealed these were pre-installed and not part of the advertised price. I waited more than 20 minutes to speak with a manager after raising concerns but willing to negotiate, but no one followed up, so I walked out. This place banks on uninformed buyers accepting inflated prices and vague add-ons. If you're a serious buyer, read the fine print, ask hard questions, and be ready to walk. UPDATE 6/28/25: After buying the same make and model at a different dealership -- one with FAR better integrity -- I want to reflect back at my experience at this dealership and their practices. First, salesman wanted me to negotiate on the final price, not the vehicle price. That's a classic dealership tactic as it protects the sticker price for their metrics, have an easier time hiding add-on profits, and it creates a false impression of flexibility. Ultimately, this is bad for the buyer because transparency is lost, it protects their margin and limits one's leverage. I knew that's what they were aiming at, so I held the line on only negotiating on the sticker price. Again, LOOK AT THE PICTURES AS TO WHY!! In spite of what I just said, he proceeded with the oldest trick dealerships do: "cool-down" or "sweat-you-out" tactic. This is done to make one feel uncomfortable or impatient with the ultimate goal of getting one emotionally invested in staying and "finishing the deal". By doing so, they wear you down so that you're more likely to agree to their numbers just to be done. There are other reasons too but this is a big one. ~20 minutes of waiting, I told one of the salesmen that I've been waiting a while for the manager and will leave in 5 minutes if he doesn't arrive. True to my word, I left. I never heard from them after that (they had my contact info) which tells me they would rather wait for a less informed, emotional buyer to foolishly agree to the unfair price of this car AND overpriced mandatory add-ons. Here's my take away from this dealership: 1) High-pressure, low-integrity dealership model: They prioritize margins over relationships with a focus on flipping cars at inflated prices. They also rely on delays, confusion, and "manager invisibility" to outlast smart buyers. 2) Poor reconditioning = Cut costs: The car's condition (damaged trim, mismatched tires, rusted rotors, broken screen and so on) says they're not investing in inventory. They're pushing it out as-is and hoping no one notices. 3) The "Fool Tax" strategy: the biggest one for this dealership. They keep cars on the lot long enough to find someone unaware or emotionally invested. I was never their ideal buyer. I was informed, direct, and clear. PLEASE TAKE MY EXPERIENCE AS A WARNING. AVOID THEM. I AM SPEAKING AS SOMEONE WHO DID NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM. IMAGINE HOW I WOULD FEEL IF I DID. I explained what I was trying to do, what I want and do not want, and asked for a break-down proposal for the purchase. He came back with $5,800 of extended warranty and some door trim protection. Once again I explained to him that I'm very interested in purchasing the car and this so called offer isn't a serious offer, so I asked him to tell the manager to get real and at least show me the break down; he came back saying the manager wants a credit application, so I told him the first step is to agree first on the purchase price and I'm not going to pay $5800 for something I don't even know what it covers and to leave it up to the finance manager to do his job as far as selling me a warranty and so on. Rubbish to this place! It is the epitome of used car salesmanship, with the professionalism to show. My stepdaughter has been looking for a specific model car for a couple of months, probably over a year... It has sentimental inspiration and she was STOKED when she finally found it online at Pacific Auto Center. We didn't want to drive all the way to Costa Mesa but she has been working hard and saving for so long that we couldn't pass it up. Saturday evening she made an appointment for a test drive Sunday at 2:00. I was assured the car would be detailed and fueled; instead, it was barely cleaned and had an empty gas tank (far from industry standard). I raised these issues with the general manager, who apologized and promised a monetary gesture. Nearly a month later, there has been no follow-up and nothing has been provided. Pacific Auto Center is a large, high-volume dealership that clearly knows how to attract buyers. They advertise vehicles at or slightly below market value, which gets you in the door. But what they don't make clear upfront is how aggressively they inflate the final price with mandatory add-ons. Yes, there's a small sticker on the window mentioning "possible dealer add-ons," but the real conversation doesn't happen until after you've already invested time test driving and getting interested in the vehicle. That's when the numbers change--dramatically. Example: * 3M door edge protection - something a vehicle owner can buy themselves for about $20-$50 and install in minutes, yet they charge $999 * Paint and fabric protection - comparable DIY or professional products typically run $100-$300 total, depending on quality * Theft deterrent system - often already factory-installed, or available aftermarket for roughly $100-$300 Total package? Around $6,250. If you push back, they'll "work with you" and reduce it--down to roughly $3,000 for what amounts to a few hundred dollars (retail) worth of products. You're then told these items are already installed and cannot be removed, leaving you with no real option. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!!! Elder was the first one to reach out on the phone and he was professional and responsive. Upon arriving Harold Lopez assisted me, and he seemed to hate his job. I didn't want to prolong the process or otherwise I would have waited for another salesperson. Harold claimed that once the cars hit the lot, they have already gone through their inspection and vehicles are ready to be sold. This wasn't the case since the dash had the "maintenance required" light and I checked the oil and it hadn't been changed. One of the tires was bald and the alignment was really bad. The steering wheel had to be turned to the left for the vehicle to go straight. They do not inspect vehicles as they claim. On their listings they advertise that accessories CAN be purchased but once you are ready to buy the vehicle, they say accessories MUST be purchased. I ended up agreeing on 2 of the accessories including the GPS tracker and the ceramic coating, but in the paperwork they gave me the 3M door edge guard instead of the ceramic coating. I didn't catch it and they charged over $800 for this when this tape is less than $20 online. I purchased the vehicle and they kept it for an extra week to replace the tire, do the inspection/maintenance and fix the alignment. I picked up the vehicle a week later just to realize they didn't do the alignment and they couldn't show me the printout to prove they had done it. They also didn't install the 3M door edge guard. I live 1.5 hours away so I ended up taking the vehicle since the General Manager Zaid Haroon assured me that he would contact their other branch(that is closer to me) so that they would take care of the alignment and that they would follow up with me. I never heard from the GM, nor Harold despite me following up through text and emails. They went from being responsive to ignoring text messages and emails. Sergio finally reached out and set things up with the other dealership. I dropped off the vehicle and they did an alignment which did help with the alignment issue but not entirely. Apparently, they ran out of material so they couldn't do the 3M door edge guard again. That had to be set up separately again. To-date none of them have followed up to ensure that the issues were addressed. Prices might seem to be cheaper than other dealerships, but you truly don't know what you are getting from this dealership. Best to go to another dealership where vehicles are actually inspected and dealership takes accountability. read more

Very disappointed in this dealership. Me and my fiance went here to get a truck and Rork helped us out at first. He was helpful in getting us started but had to go help another customer. He handed us over to Landon Hurtado to get us started on the financing paperwork/negotiation. We told Landon we needed GAP insurance and warranty. Rork let us know early on there were some add ons the dealership that would be a total of 2-4k. They stated we can't opt out since it's already on or part of the car/dealership deal. Landon came back with a few different offers that were way out of the budget from what we were looking for. He said he would work with us and get us a lower monthly by bringing down the price of the add ons. He came back with a price that fit our budget and stated that gap insurance and warranty is included. We got the truck and signed all the papers. Turns out they took OUT the GAP insurance we asked for to lower the price. This was never mentioned in the final negotiation. Landon never lowered the price of the so called add ons (door protection film, theft protection, gps tracker) and they ended up being $6000 with the sales tax of the add ons. The truck also only came with a manual key. It's outrageous that a car dealership doesn't even have at least one key fob for each vehicle. Landon said there's no one that day that can provide a key but if we came back they can get their key guy to make a key for $250 that would be covered by them. We live at least an hour away and work so that would not be possible. He then offered to take $200 off the final payment to cover for the key. That is $50 less than what he stated it would cost for a dealership to obtain a key fob. Make it make sense!! We contacted Landon the day after we obtained the vehicle to ask about the gap insurance because it was missing from the paper work. Landon contacted back saying they took it off to lower the payment but we can contact the lien-holder after the first payment to see if they can help. These people are very deceiving and we are never coming back. Please be careful if you come get a vehicle here. No wonder they have all sales final. THEY LIE! read more
