    Tuna
    Carol W.

Excellent menu. Usually quite good except for one off night. We have been several times. Their food is quite good. Their edamame is, for some reason way better than what you get at many other places. I do however ask them to go easy on the sea salt. The tuna tartare with taro chips was particularly good because the taro chips were great. I also liked the seared tuna large plate. Their serving sizes are quite generous. They also have dim sum and sushi but we did not try these.

We came to try it out for the first time. Appreciated free valet parking. Food was delicious and Skylar was an efficient and friendly server who was attentive and kept our water glasses filled. The restaurant started filling up.as we left around 6:30. The ambiance is romantic and a great place for a celebration.

    Soft Soft-Shell Crab

Beautiful restaurant, quiet atmosphere and dark mood lighting. Server was kind and wait staff was more serious. The soft shell crab dish I got was incredible - with lobster red curry and ginger fried rice. I did ask about spice level and they said it was spicy but that you couldn't request for lower spice, which is understandable. With that being said, I eat Thai curry often and this was much spicier than I anticipated, which did take away from the experience for me. It was a rich and flavorful dish.

    Shitake Mushroom Spring Roll (4.25/5)
    Ryan S.

I got the Shitake Mushroom Spring Roll (4.25/5) and the Hong Kong chicken with walnuts (4/5). The spring roll was nice and crispy, and the sauce added a nice little spice to it. The chicken and mushrooms were good, but I thought there was too much sauce, but I am also not a big fan of sauce in general. We went late on a Monday night, so it was not busy. However, the service was still super slow; it took us almost an hour to get our food (2/5), and they accidentally brought us the check before our food. This was our second time, and it was still good, but not as good as the first, especially the service.

Had a chance to try everything on the limited time New Year's 2026 menu at Soba. Everything was cooked in such detail. You can tell by every bite the chef and team really did an amazing job. Always a great time at Soba, can't wait to see what they have in store for their next limited time menu

Came to celebrate some birthdays the week of Christmas. Was shocked to find an empty dining room at 5:30 but it did fill up as the evening went on. Love the valet parking and friendly staff. Food was prepared quickly and accurately. I enjoyed my smash burger and tots, a fun fusion twist on an American classic. Overall a great experience and a lovely night.

    Chirashi Bowl

We came on a week night for dinner and they were packed by the time we left. I loved the ambience and decor of the place. It's great for getting together with friends. I tried the chirashi bowl. It had great presentation and flavors. However, the fish just weren't the best. They really should be the star in a chirashi bowl. They had a lot of other interesting items on the menu, so I would try something else next time. Service was friendly and prompt. It was also a plus that they had free valet parking. We had a great time here.

Stopped into Soba for a cocktail and a light bite--just needed to relax and cool off from the hot, humid Pittsburgh day. As always, the service was impeccable--attentive, friendly, and professional without being overbearing. I was in the mood for something tropical and ordered the Big Blue Wave. It hit the spot--refreshing, not too sweet, and bright blue (bonus!). For food, I tried the Sichuan Bang Bang Chicken. It was just okay. With ingredients like chili oil, English cucumber, and gem lettuce, I expected a bit more punch or heat, but the flavor fell a little flat. That said, Soba is still a fantastic spot for a cocktail, a nibble, and a laid-back atmosphere. Perfect for winding down and treating yourself to a little escape. The ambiance is chill and stylish--perfect for low-key evenings.

We got everything that the waiter recommended. It all tasted good. Very shareable. Drinks were good not great. Tap water tasted amazing surprisingly in pgh. They kept filling it up like they were eyeing the glass everytime I set it down. I'd go again.

I wanted to give this place another try but it really is only ok. The staff is super nice and the ambiance is good and moody but the food doesn't really stand up. I tried the chirashi bowl this time and it was only ok. The lettuce wraps with chicken was not great either. I did like the dessert, the chocolate maki, since it is so good with the pistachio cream. Big Burrito has some great restaurants but Soba is not up to par.

Soba really brings chic date night vibes right to Shadyside. Soba really is the kind of place you could bring a date too, celebrate a special occasion with, or really just get a bite to eat and good cocktail with the girls. We love a versatile queen. Our server Skyler was lovely and attentive the whole night- adding to the experience. I started with the Guava Margarita and boy did she set the tone. Perfectly tart, sweet, and refreshing. All I needed was a beach cabana or an infinity pool and I would've been set. Edamame and tuna tartare came next. Fun fact: I used to sneak edamame into movie theaters in lieu of popcorn. The tuna tartare is not for me, but everyone else at the table devoured it with 0 complaints- so imma take that as a GOUD thing. I ordered the Sichuan Pork Dumplings as my meal and I will say- while they were delicious- I was pretty bummed it only came with 4. It didn't specify on the menu and I didn't think to ask. I was tempted to order another order though, because they were that yummy. Noa got the Thai Chicken Curry which was delightful. It was a hefty portion, the chicken throughout were big ole pieces that were juicy and tender. Mom got the branzino which does come out as the full fishy. She said it was really good. I'll update when I figure it out. We finished off with some chocolate maki, which was gorgeously presented, super savory yet still light. Everything #GOUDapproved Thai Chicken Curry| 27 egg noodles, yellow coconut curry, bok choy, pickled red onion, cilantro, lime Chocolate Maki | 14 dark chocolate mousse, chocolate pistachio crepe, pistachio cream Sichuan Pork Dumplings | 14 sichuan peppercorns, chili oil, soy, chives Crispy Branzino | 36 whole fish, summer squash, bok choy, house sweet soy, shiso chimichurri, grilled lemon jasmine rice Edamame | 9 Guava Margarita | 14 reposado tequila, bauchant orange liqueur and yuzu sake, tart guava and citrus juice, on the rocks with a black salt rim Thai Tea Palmer | 15 thai tea, nikka days blended whisky, fresh lemon, rhubarb and peach bitters

We tried Soba for Valentine's day and were pleasantly surprised. It was easy to find parking nearby and they do offer complimentary valet. We had a reservation and were seated upstairs. I'm not gonna lie, this space is dark. Really dark. So older folks make sure you can take a pic of the menu to enlarge or use your light. It's a great romantic vibe but hella hard to see what the food preparation even looks like. We had to ask our server what herbs were in one dish. We tried the spicy pork lettuce cups that came with crisp little romaine leaves and a dish of the pork that you could add to each leaf yourself. It was not overly spicy and very delicious. We also tried the pork dumplings that came in a really yummy five spice ginger soy sauce. The pork was a denser grind and nicely flavored. For entrees, we had the short rib over mashed potatoes with tempura mushrooms that was very tender and flavorful. The drunken noodles with filet pieces was truly divine. I would definitely order that again. Wine selections were great and their warm sake carafe was perfect with our apps. Our server was very attentive and made sure we were enjoying our meal.

Stopped in for an early dinner after attending Picklesburgh. Service was very attentive. Drinks were good. My daughter loved the guava margarita. We shared a few things. The tempura shrimp and the pork dumplings were both fantastic. The chirashi bowl was disappointing. We will definitely be back.

I'm a spicy marg lover so I tried-new person same old mistakes-it didn't really strike me as spicy but more so smoky and I wanted spicy. We did the khao yum-it was unique, I think I would really have loved this. If it was hot out it seems like it would be very refreshing and light and more ideal for the spring and summer and like I said we went in the dead of winter. I did the beef tenderloin as my main and it was good, it wasn't too spicy, had a nice flavor, but I don't know that I would order it again. If it wasn't so hard to get a reservation, I would definitely come here more. I really liked the vibe and the aesthetic.

I wouldn't really call this a supper club to be honest but the place definitely carries a house music bar vibe and the back bar area and seating is very dimly lit, perfect for cozying up and enjoying a drink late night. The ladies' room was so dark, I mistook it for a storage area because I could only make out a white ladder in the corner that was being used as cute shelving. The place is seat yourself. Our waiter was not super friendly and didn't offer to give us napkins or anything when our wobbly table caused our drinks to splash all over the place. The cook served our chicken with a big smile and happy interaction and we really loved his personality. The bartender also stopped by to bus our table and he was very pleasant as well. We enjoyed the perfectly fried small plate cauliflower with the plum sauce and the fried cheese/garlic wonton bites with the sriracha mayo spicy dipping sauce. The fried chicken breast on the large plate was slightly overcooked with a maple gochuchang sauce that was very bland. We were so thankful that the large plate fried chicken came with a side salad to offer some respite from the heaviness of the fried dishes. It would have been great to have some side acidic or fresh vegetable options like Kimchi or something. Maybe we tried the wrong dishes and there are other not fried things that are delicious? The dirty martini cocktail was just so-so, not really much flavor at all, but the mojito was very good and refreshing. It's probably a good late-night place for a bite and drink.

This was a combination that I did not expect to actually work, but it does. The bartender does an amazing job that very few in my experience have been able to do, which is blend the drink to where it is not just 90% alcohol and 10% whatever else. This allows you to really experience the drink and its fancy little name. Food: Entree - Godzilla: This was recommended by my waiter at the time because it was the first time ever that I have tried sushi and I was not disappointed. This dish was sooooo delicious. Dessert - Churro Cheesecake: What can I say? It's cheesecake and churros. Not a big fan of sweets, but I do love me a good cheesecake. Service: 5 / 5 - No complaints. Waiter was very attentive and made sure to check in periodically. He was very passionate about his job and provided strong recommendations with his opinion on the choices when asked. When he found out that this was my first time having sushi, he took the time to explain how the menu works, which I have horrible memory, but appreciate deeply. Wouldn't mind having him as a regular waiter in the future.
