My local laundromat closed. While I didn't mind spending two hours every two weeks doing laundry, it took me quite awhile to find a laundromat that was clean enough, so I was not thrilled with having to find a new one. As I was searching, I came upon an advertisement for Soapy Pete's. Though the cost would add up to more, I decided to give it a try. I have been using the service weekly for about a month now. It is perfect for my lifestyle. I pack my laundry in bags they provide. One mesh bag is for special items and the other is for regular items. For example, I put everything that I don't want to go through the dryer in the mesh bag. They pick up my laundry from my workplace (they will pick up from your home, too, of course) on Tuesday. Then they return it on Wednesday. They follow the instructions in my profile. Those indicate temperature settings for washing and drying, detergent and softener brands, what to hang, and how to fold. Throughout the process, they send text (you can also choose email) alerts to remind me when pick up will be, the time the driver will arrive for pick up and delivery, etc. The drivers have been friendly and professional, taking more care than I expected to make sure that my items on hangers aren't going to fall and that my bras are not showing out to everyone. Fees for the service are per pound of laundry. The fees are lower for weekly pick up versus scheduling only when wanted. There is a minimum charge, though, so if you have a low volume of laundry, try it for a few weeks to determine which makes more sense for you. read more

Very clean the service is great affordable washing well as the drying. The drop off service is very good great turnaround time.

(NOTE: This location moved to Ferndale on W 9 Mile Rd.) I washed my 2 weeks worth of clothing on high heat with an extra wash added, and dried them on high heat. The washers there do not rinse the soap out of the clothes. The washers should have a minimum of 60 minutes, but instead have a maximum of 27 minutes. The dryers on top of the fact that they do not dry clothing fully after 1 hour & 30 minutes (the lowest amount of time before the start button becomes active). The dryers will also eat your clothing as you are trying to dry. Which for me ruined 16 T-Shirts, 14 pairs of socks, 14 pairs of underwear, 2 pairs of shorts, and 1 reusable face mask. All soaked in water, covered in drum grease from the dryer, and all have holes in them at the end of the dry cycle. The damages come up to $386.47 for all of the clothing they owe me for. Not to mention the fact that the bathrooms are filthy. The floor of the bathroom was covered in water from the toilet, and the outlet the hand dryer is connected to is covered in black mold. read more

I have used this laundry service quite a few times in the last couple months. I love that they take care of my specific laundry needs and use the same soap and laundry softener that I usually use. Great service, reasonable prices, quick turnaround on clothes, ran by super friendly people who go the extra mile to make sure you're taken care of. Super responsive on social media (Facebook etc.), and their site is easy to use. They've basically taken doing laundry off of the weekly chore list for us- I didn't realize I could actually be happy about laundry, and yet here we are. I would highly recommend this service , i'm assuming the owner .. Pete picked up my laundry . He reassured me about the process and explained everything thoroughly to me. He was very polite and courteous . The website is very easy to maneuver and payment , laundry preferences are all on there . I received a text notification as soon as he picked up my laundry and a text notification as soon as it was delivered . EVERYTHING IS BY THE POUND , and at a reasonable price . They also give you a welcome kit with a laundry bag they provide you , which is convenient if you plan on using the service weekly / bi-weekly .
