I love Sylvias!! I always walk up from my house and need alot of stuff dry cleaned in the colder months. Last week I had bought a new dress for a trip I had and could not get the wrinkles out with my steamer. I ran up to sylvias and they steamed it right away for me and it looked so beautiful. They are so friendly I love coming here! read more

Best cleaner around. I take everything here. Always friendly and professional. Great prices.

I do like this place. For one, it's only half a mile from my house. I do try to support local businesses and the smaller mom and pop shops like this one. The shop feels more homey and friendly than standard dry cleaners. Their cleaning process is cleaner, but just as effective. The staff are friendly and helpful and the turnaround is always reasonable for dry cleaning too. read more

Stay away! They ruined one of my newer shirts. First time I've even had it dry cleaned, and they clearly weren't careful with the collar and now it looks like it was bleached. Shirt can't be worn again. I showed this to the lady (I assume the owner) and she just denied, denied, denied. Kept saying "all we do is launder them" and even told me to "chill out." Awesome customer service, lady. After coming here for over 3 years, I'm done with this place. I'm okay with people making mistakes, what I'm not okay with is not taking responsibility for your mistakes. This is my first bad experience here and they did NOT make it right. After it was clear that I was sure they ruined my shirt and after A LOT of denying from this lady, she offered me a $25 credit (for a shirt that cost 3x that much and is basically new)... like I'd ever come back here. read more

Sylvia's Cleaners - Ruined my shirt. Mistakes are okay if you at least make it right, but you didn't. Stay away! - Laundry Services Near Me - Royal Oak, Michigan

Honestly, if the employees weren't such sweet people, I'd be giving them 1 star. I was only going to be in Michigan for 1 week and needed my suit for interviews cleaned. I figured that I'd try Sylvia's because many people I knew had a great experience. Well, I realized they weren't getting their shirts dry cleaned. While they did a great job on my undershirt, blazer and pants - my white shirt was much more lackluster. They got rid of the stain on the collar, which I was quite happy about. However, there were new 0.5cm specks of some pink substance on both sleeves and at the left cuff. In addition, the old stain at the underarms became much more noticeable which was quite upsetting because my regular launder got rid of it. Sylvia charges $3 per item more than my usual launder and provides subpar quality. I went back to ask if I could have a refund because I had to buy a new shirt which cost me $40. Instead, they offered to clean it for me again or offer me store credit. You know, that doesn't solve my problem of needing a shirt for my interviews. That was my only one. I had to fly out before they could get the job done. If you need something done right and on the first try, I do not recommend Sylvia's Cleaners. read more

They torched my toggle coat :( I am not dinging them for how they responded because I didn't notice right away (it was wrapped up in my closet). I am just warning that they can't be trusted with nicer things. When I did mention it on separate occasion the employee said they normally wrap up the toggles. The leather loops are ruined and the fabric feels very dried out. Either way, I need to find a new cleaners. read more

Sylvia has helped me in two last minute emergency situations. Once, when my basement had flooded, an employee stayed over the weekend to launder all of my clothes and prevent them from being ruined. Now, a week away from a relocation, and my washer acting up, there was no hesitation when I dropped off a giant (and I mean giant) load of laundry that I need done ASAP. Prices are very very reasonable and the service could not be better. Highly recommend. read more

I have been coming here since 2014. They are always friendly and always remember my name. Even after few months of COVID isolation. Recently. I had to have an item back by Monday. The staff offered to deliver it to me on Sunday. When I declined they were so nice and made sure that I wouldn't forget to pick them up. On Sunday they called me in the morning. Of course even after that call, I still forgot. So at 2 pm they called me again. I rushed out. They waited for me after closing to get my clothes. This place has always been this amazing. read more

They did a wonderful job with my blouses and bridesmaid dresses. I received all of them back on perfect condition. My bridesmaids dress was delicate and I was concerned about its condition but it was returned in an excellent state. I can't wait to return with everyday clothing. This place was great! I appreciated their friendly staff! read more

Everyone here is incredibly friendly. For basic dry cleaning, they do a good job. However, shirt laundry is most of what I did, as I have 5-6 shirts a week that need to be cleaned. Every single time I picked up my shirts, at least one new button is chipped or broken on my shirts. I've told them several times about this, and each time, my buttons come back chipped and broken. I even showed them the broken buttons on two of my shirts, dropped them off with explicit instructions to fix the buttons, and while they fixed some of them, the shirts still have broken buttons. I've been coming here for 2 years, but I'm done with this place. If you want your suit cleaned, they do a decent job. But if you need your shirts cleaned without half your buttons broken, go somewhere else. read more

This drycleaners is on the route to and from work from my house so I decided to give it a shot instead of driving all the way to Oak Park to drop off my dry cleaning. In all fairness I've had them clean my items twice the first time I had no problems and thought wow this is a place I can use that's reasonably priced. When I picked up my second order that's when things got ugly. I have oil stains that are all over a gray shirt of mine that I did not put there. I have a little brown spots all over three of my white shirts that I did not put there. And I have a powdery white substance all over two of my black shirts. The young lady at the register is extremely friendly however I reached out to this company via email regarding my experience and as of now I have yet to hear anything from them. I definitely will not be taking my laundry back to them. Four out of five shirts can be saved but the oil will not come out of the gray shirt. read more

I use Sylvia's once in a while when I need a dress cleaned. I have taken bridesmaids dresses to have pressed ($8) & cleaned ($15). Also have taken party dresses to be cleaned too. They are always friendly, quick & busy. If u want Ur items back quickly they'll have it done for you! I recommend this place if u live in this area. read more

It does not get much better than Sylvia's Cleaners as far as cleaners go. I started bringing my laundry there when I moved to the area about 5 years ago, and I am very impressed at the consistency of their great customer service and the quality of their cleaning. Expensive clothing doesn't conveniently "get lost" and the place is really easy to get to. There have been a few times where there is a little line, but it seems like they have a good relationship with all their patrons, as I've never seen irate people huffing and puffing through their waiting period. Even though they changed management I am happy that the new owners have maintained the essence of the business. I do miss the two nice ladies that ran the business before, though. I have brought in skirts and blouses for regular dry-cleaning and have tried the leather cleaning (blush pink leather jacket), and I am very satisfied with the results. The ultimate test came when I brought in my expensive, and oh-so-delicate silk lace wedding gown, and am happy to say they did a fantastic job with it; it looks like I never wore it. Lastly, I love that they care about the environment. I do not know exactly what this green cleaning entails, but I would like to find more about it on their website, or maybe in person next time I'm in. Keep up the good work, Sylvia & company! read more

This place is horrible I took my shirts here they ruined the fabric their machines are too rough I have no idea what they did exactly but my shirts are not how they supposed to be. Save yourself some time and go down the street there's another place that I really like overall just really bad quality staff is really rude they don't like to help but then he of your questions or concerns will not be going back or recommending to anybody I know read more

8/10 shirts needed to be returned for pressing due to wrinkles. 2/4 pants had some kind of cleaning substance on them. 1/10 shirts had yellow/brownish oil on the front of the collar. I can't prove it was them, but it's an oil and I had not worn the shirt in ages, yet the stain is moving so I'm sure it's from the cleaners. I feel like one mistake in an order would've probably made me 3 star it. Normal service with 100% success would've made me 4 or 5 star this place. But all of these mistakes plus the fact that slacks are $6.25 really kills it for me. I won't be returning after I pickup my redos. I'm really questioning my logic in having them redo any of my clothes instead of refunding me...if I end up with more oil stains on my nice shirts read more

Friendly service, and reasonable pricing This dry cleaners was on the way to work as well as school. So one day i took my chef cloths to get the stains removed and make it pearly white again. Now i don't expect all of the stains to be removed because some of it can be a little bit tough, and the lady at the front desk also told me ahead of time but when i pick up items I dropped off, and still see that it looks exactly like how I dropped it off can be a little bit of a problem. i heard they had a delivery service as well, have never tried it but maybe next time when i come back with something less of a challenge read more

I brought my down winter coat in after two years of wearing, toddler-related staining, and fresh coffee explosion. My coat was picked up in exquisite condition. Clean, fluffy, and practically brand new. This establishment leaves me feeling confident not only in their skill and attention to detail, but the customer service was great as well I'll be back! read more

I took my boyfriend's old suede winter coat in for cleaning. This coat seemed to be almost unsalvageable, with large areas being molded and dirty. She sent it out to a professional leather cleaner and it came out looking amazingly-brand-new!!! I was very impressed and will return for future cleaning jobs. Also, Sylvia was friendly and did well answering my questions about the cleaning process. I enjoyed my time talking with her. read more

Been super happy with them for well over a year. People there are really nice, and cost is totally reasonable. There are a ton of competitors, but they keep me coming back. I haven't tried(or needed) the delivery service yet. Maybe I will soon. read more

This is my first time at a cleaners ever and it was a pleasant experience. The ladies there are very nice and they answer all your questions. I dropped off my queen down comforter because it needed to be washed and my dryer isn't big enough for it and they said they were going to take care of it. I asked for next day availability to be done and they made it happen. I really am unfamiliar with how costly dry cleaners are but for over night cleaning for a queen down comforter it cost me $35. I was expecting it to be a little less but it could have been because I wanted it the next day. Who knows. But I would go back here most definitely. I picked up my comforter and it was such an easy process and they even gave me a bag for it. I highly recommend this place. read more

A tad pricey. I found a stain that I don't believe was ever on my dress. I was displeased that I wasn't notified of the unremovable initially when I picked it up. Finding that out later was less than favorable customer service. That being said, overall was okay. Everything was timely done and they were friendly at the counter. read more

I normally wait a bit of time in order to really get a feel for a business before offering a review... I now feel that after several visits and after one slight mishap (where the owner called me to offer a sincere apology) that I can give a very positive review on this business. Joan and her staff are always very friendly and they offer to go above and beyond with their service and like I say (when I did have one small mishap with my order) there was a prompt and sincere apology and they've continued to do good by me. read more

The nicest most honest service i have yet had for cleaners. It is a more expensive option but i value a guaranteed cleaned piece of clothing that is not destroyed in the process. I took my white coat to another shop has the hems came back undone! I brought it here - no issues. Close to home for me with good hours too! read more

Great price, friendly staff, nice work. There was a time when my husbands coat needed to have extra starching and whatnot, I went to pick it up and they admitted it wasn't done bc they weren't happy with the result yet...I thought, hmmm I really need this by tomorrow as planned! They said NO PROBLEM and then drove it to my house that night for no extra charge. Talk about service! And the second cleaning/starching really was worth it. read more

I am extremely picky regarding my shirts and I tried several dry cleaners in Sterling Heights and Troy area. For the past 10 years I have been a faithful customer at Sylvia's cleaners and I have never been disappointed. Recently (a year ago I would say) management changed but service remained GREAT. When you arrive they smile at you and make you comfortable and the results is great. When a button is getting loose they offer to fix it for you for free like it makes them happy. Price is also very competitive. I live in Troy but always go to their place in Royal Oak for my shirts and will continue as long as service remains excellent. They also have a dedicated parking lot that is pretty much empty all the time so very easy to stop there. read more

So... this place is amazing. They actually pinned money that I must have left in my pants pocket to my pants. That was four years ago and I have been going here ever since. I have lived in Royal Oak for a few years and driven by this place many times. Before going here I tried out countless other places that were more expensive but never felt like I was getting my money's worth. Then I tried Sylvia's and everything changed for the better! They are so kind and polite and most of all honest! If they believe they'll need a bit more time to get out a stain they will recommend that you leave the garment with them a little longer for your own benefit not theirs. In fact they appreciate being able to take time and pay attention to the details and not just get you in and out as fast as possible to make a quick buck. And the prices are so reasonable even when you give them several pieces of clothing at a time. This is a place that reminds me of how small businesses should be run with customer service being the first and foremost consideration. read more

I cannot say enough good about these guys. Timely, polite, great quality. Kim (The GM) even answered his phone after business hours on the weekend one time for me. He opened up the shop to let me in to pick up a shirt that I needed for that night. Unreal customer service. read more
