I have been coming to Sno Beach for many years even though I don't even live in Austin! I have always gotten the same flavor every time, ice cream with cream! I have thought about venturing out and trying another flavor, but why would you even risk trying something else when my go-to tastes like heaven? There is something about the ice that makes this place so wonderful. It's like the ice is so smooth that it's creamy! Yum! I'm considering driving all the way to Austin right now just for a snow cone as I write this review. The staff has always been great, and the snow comes are always incredible. When I was in college I completely totaled my car pulling into their parking lot, like police, ambulances, and fire trucks had to come. And it was STILL worth it because I got my snow after dealing with the emergency responders. My only complaint about Sno Beach is they don't have one here in Dallas/Ft. Worth! read more

Every time I make a trip to Austin, I make sure to stop by one of my favorite food carts. Brings back the good 'ol days of being in college....walking 20 blocks just to get a freaking snow cone. Yea, I said it, 20 blocks... it was that good, and that much worth it. Although it seems like a never ending list of flavors, I always stick with my favorite combo: lime + black cherry, or sometimes blackberry + ice tea. 4 instead of 5 stars because the ice isn't as smooth as I once remembered it to be. It doesn't soak up the syrup as much and it leaves me with waiting till it melts to get a good spoonful of flavor. Oh and make sure you add the cream! and bring cash! read more

I went to Sno-Beach this past Saturday early afternoon and we were lucky to somehow miss the rush! We ordered a grape with cream and a wedding cake with cream. Delicious!! I love that they layer the cream in the snow cones so that you can get the cream in every bite!! Genius. It was crazy hot that day and the snow cones really hit the spot!! I was always curious why every time I drove by this place there would be a line of people, usually 30 people or so waiting to get a snow cone. Even on days when it wasn't particularly hot. Then one day I tried it and found out why. If you make it into Heaven and decide to take a little bite a-la Willy Wonka style I guarantee you it will taste like Sno-Beach Shaved Ice. Don't ask me how I know this, it is just something I feel in my bones. Probably my biggest pet peeve growing up was getting a snow cone and having it taste like water. You know what I'm talking about. They hand you over a big, fluffy cup of blood red ice and you eagerly take a big bite only to find it has no flavor. My Snoopy snow cone machine from 1986 made better snow cones most of the time, at home. They don't have this problem at Sno-Beach. The ice is soft like the good kind of snow made for snowboarding, the syrups are sweet but not too overpowering. I like any kind of cream or cherry type syrup flavors like cherry, Tigers Blood (extra popular now thanks to Charlie Sheen), wedding cake or coconut. Tip: You need to get them to add cream to your snow cone. Costs extra but is worth it and we all know life is about the little stuff. You can also do half flavors on each side of your snow cone or mix flavors. This trailer is great because it is next to some darn good food trailers such as Sushi A Go Go and Osmo's Cajun food plus not far from Lady Bird Lake. Just be aware that due to popularity there are usually long lines, especially weekends. read more

I think sno-beach is definitely the best I've ever had. (insert inappropriate joke here.) I think it must be their ice. It's not so much little shavings of ice, but more like the consistency of snow. it absorbs the delicious syrups and cream. The negatives would be standing out in the sweltering, Texas heat in a line that goes on for miles. But, it's so worth it! Snow cones ain't typically my thing, but that's probably because the ones I got when I was a kid left a lot to be desired. I usually ended up drinking a lot of sickly-sweet syrup only to be left with a rock-hard ball of unflavored ice. Sno-Beach shaved ice is a big improvement on that, for sure. They have more flavors than Pantone has colors, and they actually taste like what they're supposed to taste like. Not just sugary syrup! There are pic-a-nic tables out back, but we couldn't linger because the bees wanted in on the action. Oh, and for the love of Pete, get a SMALL. Just...wow! So many flavor choices and they're all so good! If there isn't a long long behind you, ask to taste some flavors! They can even add ice cream to your shaved ice now...so deadly! The snow is so perfectly refined, like no other i've ever had. Chunks of ice don't come flying off as soon as you try and scoop it out, and you dont need to bang it with your spoon or swoosh it around to get it to melt down. It's just so magical and delicious. I want to say 2 things upfront. 1. I've been here before and didn't enjoy it. 2. I've never had a sno-cone I've liked in my life. I LOVED my wedding cake sno-cone with cream. I got a small and couldn't finish.... it was really sweet (duh!) which I just loved. The flavor was outstanding. The ice was blended to perfection. I can't recommend this place highly enough. If you are in Austin, its hot and have time to kill... come here. The line is long but it moves. Only thing that I would like to see is some sort of roof covering for the line with water misters.... I live really close to Sno Beach and find myself there quite often! It's always busy, so it kind of sucks standing in the heat, but they provide umbrella's which is nice. The girls that work at the stand are always extremely friendly, no matter how many different flavors you ask about, how many samples you try or how many people are in line.There are a ton of flavors, which makes every visit new and exciting! I've lived in Austin for almost 5 years now, and have never had shaved ice. The other day, I heard a local radio host rave about Sno-Beach. The stars aligned on Labor Day as I had out-of-town family members visiting. After a visit to the Zilker Botanical Gardens where it was hot and humid, we were all dying for something refreshing. We spotted Sno-Beach on our drive back home and decided to stop by. When we jumped in line, there was about 10 people in front of us. By the time we ordered, there were nearly 40 people behind us. We knew we came to the right place if people were willing to wait. I ordered a small cup flavored with Kiwi and Tutti Frutti. The ice is amazing. Great texture, and it really does feel like eating snow. My family was certainly impressed with the shaved ice, flavors and the service. The ladies working there were patient and friendly on a hot day. Certainly will come back again and won't wait 5 years for my next fill. read more

How can you go wrong with snow cones?! I love this place! There could be some more parking, but it's really not super busy. Suggestion, get ice cream at the bottom of your snow cones. Yummy! There is outdoor seating obviously with some umbrellas. On a hot summer day there is a large bucket that have umbrellas for you while your waiting in ling in the sun. Best snow cones EVER, hands down. Sno Beach has this shit on lockdown with the two key components most places don't get right (1) consistency of the ice (2) flavor. The lines can get long in the summer, but it is SO worth it. The ice is the perfect melt in your mouth consistency (none of that "biting down on tiny ice cubes" business!) and the flavors are awesome. They have a wide variety of flavors and some that are even sugar free. My favorites are Tiger's Blood and wedding cake. Tiger's Blood with cream is the ultimate sugar rush, soon enough you too will be shaking like a crack baby from the sugary awesomeness that is SNO BEACH! read more

HUGE Sno Cone fan. This place is THE BEST! My friend and I went on a Saturday. The line consisted of about 30 people ahead of us. It was ABSOLUTELY worth the wait. Apparently one of the ice machines was down. I went this afternoon between classes (Tuesday) and I was the first in line. Girls working the trailor were incredibly friendly and informative. I have had the wedding cake with cream (I CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF THIS!) and the red apple with caramel, which was also delcious. My friend got Hill Country Berry and we were both very pleased. The snow cone hunt has been difficult, at best. Yelp has lead me on several ghost hunts that have been fruitless. Third is seriously a charm! Sno-Beach is exactly what I've been searching for... fine, powdery ice with delectable flavors like chocolate with cream! This is exactly like the snow cone shop in Deer Park, TX on Center Street (for all of you Houston folks needing a fix) with a bit of an inflated Austin price. OK, I have to admit that I have never really understood this whole sno cone craze that folks in Austin have. I'd take ice cream over a sno cone or frozen yogurt any day. But I like to think of myself as a fair minded person so I've been giving it a try. I'd had a sno cone at the Texas Monthly BBQ and also at a work event where they were selling them. To say they were meh..would be an understatement. Big chunky pieces of ice with flavoring that either didn't reach the whole way through (so then I'm eating plain ice which is weird) or that stayed in a liquid form. I'd heard someone at the TM BBQ Fest telling one of her friends that Sno Beach has "dryer ice" and it's "smoother". So while waiting for my sushi I decided to get a sno cone. They have like a billion flavors which is really a lot of choices. I didn't want to go crazy so I got the red raspberry with cream. A small (which is plenty big) was $2.50. The texture was a lot better. I would describe it as dry and smoother and that allowed the flavor to really blend with the ice. It was great and I'd definitely have it again. I doubt that I'll become one of those people who go gaga over it and gush on and on. But I certainly wouldn't turn it down on a hot day. read more

My husband scoffs at my sno-cone (namely, Sno-Beach) obsession, but I forgive him because he doesn't know the gospel of Sno-Beach yet. I will convert him soon... Soon... This food truck/trailer serves up a million different flavors of snow cones, and you can top it with cream (.50 extra) if you want. The small size is a medium-sized styrofoam cup, and filled past the top with a heaping scoop overflowing. So yeah a "small" is rather large, in my book. What makes me a fan? The fact that they are OPEN 7 Days a week at a great location. On my most recent day out and about with a little Daddy/Daughter time we needed a great cool treat away from the 100+ Degree heat. I searched the *Yelp reviews and locations up and down the Congress Street area to only find that many of the Sno stands are either NOT open, no longer in service, or information was not updated for me to find them. Low and behold I drove here and finally found our frosty destination, met the girls working here, and became their fan for when I am in the area and need my cold tasty treat. The shaved ice was great and the flavors are what you would expect, so that is as simple as it gets. They are a definite hot spot to cool down, I saw MANY cars pull up and people jump out to place the orders, then drive off as if it was a drive thru. Sometimes the line did not bother them at all, they would rather wait despite how hurried they seemed. These young ladies earn my business from here on out simply because they stay open, provide a great product, and allow me to enjoy the hot days that much better. Thank you. Ths sno cone place is heaven sent on a 109-degree Austin afternoon. There is always a line, but it moves relatively quickly otherwise, the afternoon sun beating down would have melted me away. $2.50/small (inflation prices?) and choose from a variety of traditional to more exotic flavors like horchata, wedding cake, etc. The syrups are sweet and the shaved ice has a nice, fine consistency. Ask them to go light on the syrup or you'll get in a sugar coma. The girls working here were nice and allowed me to sample a couple flavors. I ended up with with a mix of horchata and jalapeño something. The horchata is fantastic, but the jalapeño syrup was more cinnamon than jalapeño.
