Don't drag me for my three stars. I've been driving by this place for years and finally stopped. They have signs on the roadside leading up to the spot that make you question if your life needs changing, so I bit and gave in. Before you wonder how a shaved ice place can get three stars, I want you to think about how many shaved ice/snow cones you've had in your life and what makes one really good for you. If you have those answers, you'll understand my POV. For me, I love shaved ice so fluffy it scoops like whipped topping and dissolves in your mouth. If this isn't the case, as it starts to melt it gets really dense causing two things: the syrup won't soak through all the ice and there will be spots that are hard to scoop with your spoon. Also... do you have kids and live in a hot state? Because if you do, it's possible you've had many many types of shaved ice because your kids love it. My two favorite places are Bahama Bucks for their flavor and menu variety even though their flavors are hella artificial, I've never in my life had shaved ice as light and smooth and airy as theirs. I love the apple pie combo. The other place I miss in Austin is Woodys. Ugh so good and natural handmade flavors with dairy free options and more of a Hawaii take on shaved ice. At Shaved Ice Island I had the Coconut Snow. It's my favorite flavor in life after pistachio and it was decent. I ran into the issue of syrup not touching some parts of the middle of the ice. It's also white so I imagine it's tricky to drizzle it enough to feel confident it's all in there. The coconut condensed milk drizzle on top and whipped cream were a nice touch but it was triple digits in Austin so it started to melt down pretty quickly and soon became hard to get through with a spoon. I admire the marketing, I work in the biz, so it's cutesy but life changing is untrue for me, LOL. Service is great and I love how many flavors they have and the topping choices are impressive. Unfortunately for me, I prefer a smoother and lighter shaved ice experience. They also do parties and do a great job of letting you know everything you'd want to know before ordering just from signage on the truck. Stay cool y'all!

Awesome shaved ice place that was one of the only places near this area open. Very glad because they have solid items. However, the only thing I would recommend is to try one of their flavors you are familiar with. My dad ordered the Diablito which actually had lime juice not sweetened. Just lime juice with some tajin and other spicy toppings. The lime was so sour and powerful it wasn't enjoyable. They had to add some pineapple flavoring to it so it was edible. I also ordered something different and made it my own. They will let you try any flavor to make sure you like it. I had the Hawaiian fruit flavored item, but added chamoy and tajin.. sounds good right? It actually wasn't as enjoyable as it would have been with the mango. Altogether. This place is awesome with great staff who is very friendly. There are some great pics you can take with their backdrop and a life size raspa figure next to their truck. Super cute vibe! Highly recommended for family on a hot fall day!

I am officially a shaved ice convert! The second time I brought my son here, I realized what an intriguing menu they have. I couldn't resist the temptation of creamy cold brew, so I went ahead and ordered one. ($5.50) My son got his usual child's size rainbow ice ($3). Then mine came out, and OMG! It was a creamy, sumptuous, not-overly-sweet awesomeness. It tasted like a chocolate milkshake. I seriously can't believe how good it was. The place is cute too, and they're really set on making you what you want or remaking something if you don't like it. They've got a cute selfie wall, a huge chair for the kids to climb up on, and a couple benches in the shade. The only negative is it's in a HOT parking lot by the bowling alley. But, with things like pickle juice and Chamoy, creamy cold brew, and mango lassi on the menu, you really can't go wrong!

Easy to locate in the Westgate Lanes parking lot. Ample seating (with shade). *It would be phenomenal if they had misting fans too! Staff are hard working, nice, and even though there were 8 people in front of me, I probably waiting 7-10 min in line and less than 5 for my order. I let my toddler daughter select our flavor so we got plain strawberry to share (I added a scoop of Blue Bell vanilla). Next time, I'm coming for the Mangonada. I love tajin and tamarind so I'm looking forward to it! What really stood out was the thought they put into the customer experience! The various photo op spots, chalkboard wall, and most of all...the sign emphasizing they want to make each order perfect and happy to do whatever's needed to make it happen. We'll be back! TIP: visit their website and if you sign up for texts, you get a free small shaved ice!

I have created a summer monster. I went back and got the MANGO LASSI and it was amazing!!! Highly recommend!

Cute shaved ice food truck in Westgate Lanes' parking lot with plenty of outdoor seating. Their custom shaved ice creations have creative names and great flavor. The notorious POG with cream and Gummi bears is the best!

Snow cone: lime, nerds and chamoy!

This is the best snow cone I've had and I look forward to getting one each time I bowl at Westgate Lanes. Service is great, friendly and quick. They have so many topping and flavor combinations. I opted for lime with nerds and chamoy this round. It was a banger!

Perfect way to cool off!! The horchata, tiger blood and purple magic icees were my fav. I love that they offer sugar free options too! Super cute photo opps too!

Free shaved ice topped with whipped cream for puppies!

I had an urge for Hawaiian shave ice on a hot spring day and found Shaved Ice Island on yelp. They are located in the parking lot of Westgate bowling. They are dog friendly and gave our puppies two free bowls of shaved ice with whipped cream! I was very impressed walking up Memorial Day weekend as they had organized a free scavenger hunt for children, a bouncy house, free face painting, and a free reggae band playing! The owner's name is Rahul, which I mistakenly thought was a variant of Raoul. You'll notice they serve mango lassi and chai tea shave ice! I ordered the Notorious P.O.G., which tasted like Hawaiian Sun juice, topped with sour gummy worms. Portions were large and cheap for a small at only $3 plus toppings. They even had people from the Austin Film Society taking videos of my puppy and customers. The owner, Rahul, walked up to us and asked us to participate in a snowball fight! The owner looked like an Indian surfer dude from Hawaii and he is killing it! The ice flakes weren't soft enough to yield easily to a spoon. To make it more Hawaiian, Taiwanese or Filipino, I would suggest they offer mochi balls, boba, and halo halo as well. I hope he opens a brick and mortar as the business grows!

Good Angelito other than the customer service!

I would leave a 5 star review for the snow cone but for the customer service which is a HUGE part of a business, they get a 1 star. The checkout girl was sweet and answered questions. This review is mainly for the woman who yelled at us to move our vehicle instead of asking. To the woman who answered "the kids cup" when I asked her which kind of snow cone it was that I was handed first. I own a business myself and would never make someone feel stupid for asking something. I did not appreciate the attitude. She didn't create a fun or welcoming environment. That's what a business should have first hand.

    Mango lassi Shaved Ice

Not your average shaved ice establishment! We made our guys road trip to Austin and made this pit stop just to try the Mango Lassi shaved ice. The sizes were generous and mixed with mango puree and a pleasant helping of vanilla ice cream at the bottom. Best part, when it all melts in the Texas heat, you get a refreshing mango lassi drink that'll still keep you cool!

Absolutely insane how great this place is! Not always into snow cones because it really isn't my thing but man, this place deserves an award! Haven't had a great snow cone like these in a very, very long time! If you're craving a snow cone or just trying to kill off this summer heat with some cool treats, stop by shaved ice island for your satisfaction. It defiantly hit the spot after our 3 mile noon time run! Great way to cool down with these gourmet snow cones! The service was extremely quick so during these hard COVID times they made the new process very smooth. The mangonada was great, maybe just a tad bit more chamoy would've been great but otherwise it was amazing. The mango lassi was so creamy and tasty! Two great choices! I'll def be back for that Mexican rice pudding flavor!

Puppy cup. Free and delicious !!!

What a wonderful night for a delicious treat. We absolutely love this place and we tell everyone that it is not to be missed. But we have a new addition to the family and today was his 1st time. Can you tell from the picture that he is in puppy heaven? We love you guys!!!

Mangonada was spot on! Best place for a raspa in South Austin. Friendly staff and plenty of spots to sit down.

I think some are open in the morning/afternoon and others in the afternoon/evening. I ordered an al pastor taco and chips with queso from CJ's tacos right before they closed at 7pm. The taco was good (a little greasy) but much better once you add the green sauce they serve with it on top. The queso was really tasty, like a better version of the tostitos queso. The food trucks are in a circle and surround a playground in the middle. It is a cool venue and while I wouldn't call it particularly nice, it is fairly clean. After the taco appetizer, we ordered gnocchi pomodoro and the casarecce with basil pesto and tomatoes from Artipasta with tiramisu for dessert. The pesto was good, but lacking in flavor a bit. The gnocchi were delicious, great texture and a wonderful tomato sauce. We honestly should have placed two orders for the gnocchi and skipped the casarecce. My friends liked the tiramisu but said it was a bit different from a traditional tiramisu. We wanted to try a vodka pizza from Day's Pizza but they were completely sold out for the day (no dough left). We tried the paneer entree and aloo paratha from the Desi Spot. The food took awhile to come out and I would have liked a few more pieces of paneer but it was all delicious. Overall a cool spot and a nice way to try a bunch of different food trucks and cuisines at once. Just check the hours for the food trucks you want to try before you go.
