Rollin Smoke BBQ - Brisket Taco Mac n cheese with pulled pork

As a recipient of the prestigious Texas Monthly Top 100 BBQ Award, the expectations were high--and for the most part, they were met. The venue itself provides a fantastic, relaxed vibe, complete with plenty of TVs and a music stage, making it the perfect spot for chilling out on a lazy afternoon or settling in for an evening hang. The Main Event: Pitmaster Excellence The true test of a Texas BBQ joint is the holy trinity, and here, they nailed the fundamentals: * Brisket: This was Texas BBQ as it should be. The brisket was super juicy, delivered a profound, deep flavor, and possessed a flawless, great bark that spoke to hours of skillful smoking * Spare Ribs: A study in contrast and texture. The ribs offered a satisfying "good pull"--firm enough to bite but still falling cleanly off the bone. The thick, peppery bark was beautifully balanced by a slight sweetness from a pepper jelly glaze, adding a layer of sophisticated flavor you don't always find. * Pork Belly Burnt Ends: These were pure decadence. Each bite provided a delicious, melt-in-your-mouth experience with a distinct and welcome hint of Fierce Whiskers bourbon woven into the smoky, fatty flavor. They are so rich and irresistible, you know you shouldn't eat too many, but good luck stopping. * Jalapeño and Cheese Sausage: This locally sourced link brought the heat with a good level of spice. The flavor was excellent, though the texture leaned slightly toward the processed side, which was the only minor drawback among the meats. The Supporting Cast: Sides A great plate of BBQ requires sides that stand up to the meat, and while two of these were stars, one needs a little work. * Mac & Cheese: An absolute winner. It was cheesy, creamy, and featured an excellent smoked flavor that permeated the dish. The slightly charred edges added a delightful textural counterpoint. * Hash Brown Casserole: This was a surprisingly strong contender, offering a nice assembly of savory flavors. The secret weapon was the corn flake topping, providing an unexpected but welcome crunch, complemented by a satisfying hint of bacon. * Creamed Corn: Unfortunately, this side was the weakest link. It tasted primarily bland, despite a slight peppery note. It desperately needs some fresh jalapeños mixed in to cut through the creaminess and add the essential Texas kick. Final Verdict The meat selection here is truly Top 100 worthy, excelling in technique, flavor, and execution (especially the Brisket and Burnt Ends). The atmosphere is perfect for a relaxed gathering. While the Creamed Corn missed the mark, the stellar Hash Brown Casserole and Smoked Mac & Cheese prove that their side game is usually strong. Come for the high-quality, authentic Texas barbecue, stay for the great outdoor patio.

We got the chopped beef sandwich and decided to share it between three people since we just wanted a taste. Gotta say it was darn good & I'll definitely go back to try more. The beef was so tender and juicy that it really did melt in our mouths. The bun was soft and fresh and held the sandwich together well.

Service The guy working the truck seemed to be high while taking our orders and making food. That must explain why tacos are $7, they were decently large and that runny age was good. It also took ages to make and get our food. I know vegan food does tend to take longer because of the care process, but this was another level. They did not call our names when the food was ready and it took ages. We even came to check on our food a few times and it was not ready. Ambiance Food truck in the middle of an empty lot. There are quite a few other trucks, but they were all pretty expensive. Bathrooms are decent onsite and there area few tables around the here you can eat. Honestly meh on the location and truck food.

Parking lot is on East 2nd so if you're driving don't pull up on Cesar Chavez. You'll be able to enjoy some impressive mosaic murals lining the lot and by the restrooms, on behalf of the neighboring mural business, and colorful art is infused throughout the Vegan Nom for super bonus ambiance points. We tried half the trucks. Burgers, tacos, and cheesecake were on the menu because the others were closed at the time. I tried a taco two-fer at Rockin Vegan Tacos, which has evolved its presentation and probably food through the years. The KBBQ rib taco on a flour taco was yummy. Taste and flavor excelled over the somewhat disjointed and unmeldedness of the overall taco. The vegan bacon on my scramble tasted pretty salty and greasy- true to its inspiration tho bacon in any form won't be missed by me- however the scramble "egg" was eggcellent. Truly. Not just being punny. Don't forget to grab some sauces from the little labeled mini cooler to the left of the counter. That chipotle sauce slaps. The fries from Nom Burger were a skinny fried surprise! Well seasoned and addicting, watch out. They also provide organic ketchup packets without high frucgross corn syrup- min approved. The buns weren't warmed and at a 3:1:.25 bread to patty to cheese ratio, cheeseburger was just ok. The cute little cheesecake truck serves vegan and non vegan options. $10-11 in little glass jars which can be returned for future discounts. The cookies and cream was a layered and light treat. A nice way to wrap up the meal and extend your time in this cute, colorful, casual, Austiny spot. Bathrooms are in the mural building through a white door behind the trash bin, take the first right. I spied Uber cookies on the closed coffee truck menu and shall return for those.

I have been visiting this food trailer so long I still remember the owner's dad working here serving the same great food, and seeing property developments around it. Today, I ordered a Bacon, Egg, and Potato breakfast taco (optional hot sauce on side) and a chopped brisket sandwich. This a cash only business to be warned and basically you take the food home with you. This was a short drive for me and easy to spot this place while driving south on RM-1826 but may miss it going the opposite direction. The owner is super nice and makes your food the way you like it. When I got home my breakfast taco was more like a burrito where one is enough for me in being so huge. It was extremely tasty, and all the ingredients mixed well with melted cheese on top and wrapped in a flour tortilla. It filled me up for the day. My wife enjoyed her bbq sandwich and it was big too where ate half for lunch and the rest for dinner. Supporting local businesses is exhilarating where in this case enjoy having a place to easily grab a burger, bbq sandwich, or breakfast tacos is a blessing.

Could have had some extra bbq sauce for the bbq items. Cash only. After hearing positive reviews of this place, I finally decided to make a quick stop and grab some food here. Customer service was great. The breakfast tacos were delicious. The brisket taco was also really good, but wish it (and the brisket sandwich) came with an extra side of bbq sauce. Otherwise, the food was super tasty. Will definite stop by again to try the burgers.

Located in the cozy Thicket food park, kids can run in the center playground while adults casually monitor them and sip coffee, eat cheesecake, or grab a warm bite. We ordered a pork and seafood bowl and a chicken bowl. They came with eggrolls that were just okay. But the bowl itself was made with love. Huge cuts of meats were combined with all the usual suspects: cukes, carrots, dikon, purple and green cabbage (which I appreciate more than lettuce), cilantro, and noodles. Two types of fish sauce graces the side so you can dress to your liking. Delicious! And too much for me, so I took the rest home for breakfast. We also tried the pork bun, beef skewers, and coffee boba. I'll be back. I need more healing love in my life.

The skewers were incredibly well marinated, and the accompanying sauces elevated them to near perfection. Maybe a tiny bit more heat would have been nice, but not complaining at all. The spring rolls were MASSIVE. Almost too big too handle. Both shrimp and pork inside, and the homemade super chunky peanut sauce was unique and savory. I had several people as me where I got my lunch, as it truly presented beautifully. Cheers and looking forward to trying more!
