Ok, in my defense, I attempted a few times, but super unlucky as they were always closed =( However, this trip to ATX was a success and no lines! This go around, we got a Medium Tiger's blood+Kiwi+Watermelon combo, which was great and large enough for two or even three. I was a bit hesitant about Tiger's Blood but apparently it is a play on Charlie Sheen's favorite quotes. It is hard to describe but it is a mix of Hawaiian punch and coconut? This location is open until 9 pm most nights which is great for me . I usually like grabbing a snow cone after dinner so I appreciate that they are open a bit later than most . Would be 5 stars for the sno cones themselves but they don't follow their closing hours. Two Saturdays ago, they closed at 6:30 and were locking the gates when we were sitting inside the parking lot. How did they expect us to get out? Last Saturday the 27th, arrived before 6:30pm, and they were already closed. They are very organized with how to order and pick up your order. They have number set up at each parking spot and they have a table set up in front, numbered as well. I placed an order online after parking (we parked in spot 1). After they finished my order, they placed it on the table in the section labeled 1 and I went to go pick it up. Perfect snack for the warming weather that's hitting Austin! They have a ton of flavors to pick from, so everyone will find something that suites their taste! I ordered a small cup with ice cream on the bottom and blue raspberry and cantaloupe syrup. I was a little skeptical about how these flavors would taste side by side, but they worked together perfectly! The flavors aren't overpoweringly sweet like some shaved ice places. It's just the right amount of sweetness for you to recognize the different flavors and keep coming back for more. The ice is extremely fine and just felts in your mouth with every bite, and while the cup may look small, they pack a hefty amount of ice on top of the cup to make it a fairly large portion size! I personally couldn't finish my entire cup because I got tired of eating it, but that's just me. Half way through, I began digging towards the bottom so that I could get the ice cream with the shaved ice (delicious!). Looking back, I should have gotten the "cream" on top on as well, so that'll be a for sure add on next time I drop by. One thing to note is that food truck is CASH ONLY. I had to drop by a nearby BOA ATM to grab a twenty for my friend and I to enjoy these treats on a hot afternoon. Worth it. Also worth mentioned is that the parking is unbeatable in this neighborhood. Not going to Sno Beach after a trip to Barton Springs (or whatever your outing of choice may be) is ridiculous. It's like taking a shower without soap, or having a cup of coffee before going to bed--it doesn't make any sense. Choosing a proper flavor combination is an art form. Do not assume if you don't like your snow cone the first time that you don't like Sno Beach. You just suck at choosing flavors. I say start with something simple. It's just like when you're a kiddo and start drinking: you don't dive right into a bottle of Jameson, you work your way up. Give yourself time to cultivate the addiction and work your way into harder flavors. My recommendations: -You can't go wrong with a nice light fruity combo. Cherry and kiwi complement each other well. -When you're ready to move up the ladder, try adding a nice sour flavor to your regular fruity flavor. Green sour apple and cherry? Pink lemonade sour and raspberry? Cherry sour and kiwi? Now add a third fruity flavor. Lime, strawberry, blackberry... So many options. -If you're ready to get interesting: my personal favorite is cream soda and silver fox, with cream added. What is silver fox anyway? It doesn't even matter.... The final touch is always the cream. Other flavors to try: Dulce de Leche, cheesecake, wedding cake, tigers blood, and pina colada. DON'T SKIP ON THE CREAM! I have been going to Sno-Beach since it was located on South lamar and barton springs AGES AGO! So I pride myself on having known Sno-Beach since I was 13. My mom personally knows and still hangs out with the owner and his daughters and we're always having a good time talking about the old locations and people. On to the shaved ice, YUM YUM! There is always a new flavor, flavor combonation to try and go ahead and take a recommendation from one of the girls there! Ladies in line behind us talking in fake accents and switching to different accents every 5 minutes? Annoying. $3 got me a small sno cone with raspberry, mango & vanilla ice cream at the bottom. The small is an adequate amount in my opinion. Anything bigger and expect to have your heart turn to ice. Raspberry is where its at. The mango was bleh. At some point all the coldness melts away your taste buds and you really can't taste anything anymore. All you're consuming is the polar bears swiftly deteriorating habitat. I should have paid the extra 50 cents to get the cream added. That was definitely an interesting and nice touch. Endless amounts of flavors and they let you sample before you sign your life away to a mediocre flavor. Plenty of picnic tables and umbrellas to hide your sunburned ass from the angry sun. Watch out for the plethora of bees that want to taste your icey goodness. There were even bees assaulting the girls inside the trailer. The kids like bubblegum. There are also sugar free syrups (I don't know what they use to sweeten these). Owned by a nice guy (also named Don P.) who is often seen making cones, sno-beach is a nice white trailer that was located near P Terrys on S. Lamar for years before recently moving to it's current Barton Springs location. Sno-beach serves one thing... snowcones. I'd say close to a hundred flavors and you can add creme if you'd like (I recommend it) served in nice styrofoam cups by cute and nice college girls. A sno-beach is the perfect beginning or ending or both to a zilker or barton springs trip... kinda pricey for a snowcone but tastes just as good as ice cream but better for you and you'll feel good when you get done eating it. Wow. I remember sno cones as a kid were never as satisfying as they looked. They ended up being hard crunchy ice chunks with some sugary syrup that never quite penetrated the ice and eating it was like a brain freeze on ice. Sno beach is just like the sno cone I wished for as a kid. I dreamed it would taste like this and now it does! It's just like a fluffy snow ball in a cup with the most delicious flavors imaginable. I am something of a Hawaiian Shave Ice connoisseur. I can compare/contrast the differences in size, flavor, and texture of Oahu's Waiola Shave Ice, Matsumoto Shave Ice and the Big Island's Scandinavian Shave Ice. These are probably Hawaii's three best shave ice places, and I would put SnoBeach up against any one of them. It's crazy good and you won't be disappointed. My favorite combo is Tiger's Blood and Wedding Cake with cream, but by all means experiment and find your own favorite. The prices are cheap and the staff is friendly. Shaved Ice always reminds me of my childhood when I had the Snoopy Shaved Ice Maker and I would make as a kid. Last time I've had Shaved Ice, the ice was hard to swallow and you would have to chew it. So I was hesitant when my friend suggested that we go here.
