I was rather skeptical about Sno-Beach. I didn't see the big deal about a cup of shaved ice with artificial flavoring but boy am I wrong. This place definitely brings back childhood memories but at a classier level. The ice is finely finely milled where it melts on tongue. You have around 30+ flavors to choose from and you can put as many as you want. Cream or syrup? That's up to you! My favorite is the blue coconut with cream! read more

AMAZING!!!!!!!! I came here in 100 degree weather hoping to just grab something cold to beat the heat, but was rewarded with so much more. The first thing I noticed as I approached the cute, well-positioned trailer was the HUGE menu. There were some traditional, fruity flavors, as well as a few fun, creative flavors. It was definitely hard to choose, but I ended up settling for blackberry, raspberry, and vanilla. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The prices weren't high at all, and the cups were stuffed full. There was a bit of a line, but there still was barely any wait. It was amazingly refreshing, with just the right amount of syrup. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a sweet, refreshing treat on a hot day!!!! read more

One of the best snow cone place I've been to! I got peach and some berry flavor and they blended very well together. My boyfriend got orange and that was also very tasty and refreshing! If you're looking for some refreshing flavor on a HOT Texas day, I'd definitely recommend that one. This is my favorite snow cone place! I came here after going swimming at Barton Springs and it was such a refreshing Summer treat! The line was long but there was a shade and it went by fast. I ordered a medium half Tiger's Blood and half Wedding Cake with cream. The portion sizes are large and the prices are cheap. This is one of my favorite snow cone stands in Austin ( okay well maybe one out of the few I've been too ) but I love the location and quality of the snow cones . This location is open until 9 pm most nights which is great for me . I usually like grabbing a snow cone after dinner so I appreciate that they are open a bit later than most . The quality of the syrup tastes much higher than other snow cone places I've been too . 4 stars is due to the price . My boyfriend and I paid almost 9 dollars for two cups of ice and syrup the other night here . When all you're really eating is ice it hurts a little to pay that much . However , if your trying to choose a place go for snow cones go to this one ! Things to note : They have tons of seats Bring cash They sometimes close a little before 9pm so don't come at 8:55pm . Otherwise enjoy ! read more

So many flavors to choose from! That is why I chose rainbow. :) It's a good sampling of some of the standard fruitty flavors. Pretty good but be careful... you'll get a blue or black tongue for it! The prices are amazing! A small is more than enough for me! I like how they don't charge you extra for additional flavors. BF chose pomegranate and mango and he enjoyed his. But he really enjoyed the "blue part" of my rainbow shaved ice which was blue raspberry. With the hype of adding cream to my shaved ice, I will have to try it next time! There is plenty of parking in the lot behind the truck. There are quite a number of tables to sit and hang out too. CASH ONLY. read more

We happened to run into this place and the long at 3:30 on a Friday looked pretty long, and felt even longer standing in the sun for over 30 minutes to get a snow cone. I'm not a fan of the syrup drinks that are extra sugary and don't taste like real fruit, but I went with horchata and added cream and it was definitely the best snow cone I've ever had. Not too sugary! We got small size cups and they were plenty big. We were advised that adding cream makes each snow cone better. read more

Every flavor is delicious. Even the sugar free ones. I asked how the syrups are made and was told that the owner creates each syrup themselves. My favorite flavor is Chocolate. It is cream based and I wouldn't have it any other way. I make the drive from Buda JUST for the Chocolate sno cone. Sno-Beach has been my favorite sno-cone place since I was a little kid. I remember running over after our t-ball games to get a sno-cone. Back when they were on Lamar where the P-Terry's is now. Would be 5 stars for the sno cones themselves but they don't follow their closing hours. Two Saturdays ago, they closed at 6:30 and were locking the gates when we were sitting inside the parking lot. How did they expect us to get out? Last Saturday the 27th, arrived before 6:30pm, and they were already closed. The sno cones themselves are huge (we get smalls and it's almost more than we can eat ), lots of flavor and a great deal. But, too much guessing in the early evening they will be open as posted. read more

Not going to Sno Beach after a trip to Barton Springs (or whatever your outing of choice may be) is ridiculous. It's like taking a shower without soap, or having a cup of coffee before going to bed--it doesn't make any sense. Choosing a proper flavor combination is an art form. Do not assume if you don't like your snow cone the first time that you don't like Sno Beach. You just suck at choosing flavors. I say start with something simple. It's just like when you're a kiddo and start drinking: you don't dive right into a bottle of Jameson, you work your way up. Give yourself time to cultivate the addiction and work your way into harder flavors. My recommendations: -You can't go wrong with a nice light fruity combo. Cherry and kiwi complement each other well. -When you're ready to move up the ladder, try adding a nice sour flavor to your regular fruity flavor. Green sour apple and cherry? Pink lemonade sour and raspberry? Cherry sour and kiwi? Now add a third fruity flavor. Lime, strawberry, blackberry... So many options. -If you're ready to get interesting: my personal favorite is cream soda and silver fox, with cream added. What is silver fox anyway? It doesn't even matter.... The final touch is always the cream. Other flavors to try: Dulce de Leche, cheesecake, wedding cake, tigers blood, and pina colada. DON'T SKIP ON THE CREAM! If you're unsure of a flavor, just ask to try it. The pretty ladies always give samples.. read more

I have been going to Sno-Beach since it was located on South lamar and barton springs AGES AGO! So I pride myself on having known Sno-Beach since I was 13. My mom personally knows and still hangs out with the owner and his daughters and we're always having a good time talking about the old locations and people. On to the shaved ice, YUM YUM! There is always a new flavor, flavor combonation to try and go ahead and take a recommendation from one of the girls there! Personally the cherry-type flavors are my favorite with cream are hard to beat. Try the cherry with black cherry with cream on top. read more

A small is quite fulfilling. They have great flavors it's a great affordable place to grab a quick cool down dessert.

I enjoy when life brings me things that balance out. Like black and white cookies, Icey-Hot, warm days and cool night, calories out-calories in. Today was a calories out-calories in day; go for a run then get a sno-cone from Sno-Beach day :) Sno-Beach Hawaiian Shaved Ice provided me, by far, the best sno- cone experience I've had in Austin. The staff was super friendly and patient with customers who seemed to be ordering about 8 different flavor combinations. Another balance, friendly staff balances out a group of children ordering 100 different things :) For myself, I picked blue-raspberry + wedding cake + cream. Thanks fellow Yelpers, for the cream recommendation, bc it was really the icing on the sno-cone for me. It was seriously delicious, just the right amount of cream that didn't overwhelm my blue-raspberry. The ice was fluffy, no big chunks! Over all, my sno-cone was smooooth. $3.50 for a medium sno-cone + cream, is more than reasonable for the size of this thing! Just remember to bring cash. :) read more

Arrival: 30 people in line before you? Yikes. Do I really want to wait on this? Yes I do. Anything to sample Tiger's Blood flavor. Silver fox? Neh you're too sweet and tame for me. Annoying sorority girls in front of us in line. I'd like to say their conversations were mind-blowing....but they weren't. Ladies in line behind us talking in fake accents and switching to different accents every 5 minutes? Annoying. $3 got me a small sno cone with raspberry, mango & vanilla ice cream at the bottom. The small is an adequate amount in my opinion. Anything bigger and expect to have your heart turn to ice. Raspberry is where its at. The mango was bleh. At some point all the coldness melts away your taste buds and you really can't taste anything anymore. All you're consuming is the polar bears swiftly deteriorating habitat. I should have paid the extra 50 cents to get the cream added. That was definitely an interesting and nice touch. Endless amounts of flavors and they let you sample before you sign your life away to a mediocre flavor. Plenty of picnic tables and umbrellas to hide your sunburned ass from the angry sun. Watch out for the plethora of bees that want to taste your icey goodness. There were even bees assaulting the girls inside the trailer. Next time I'm hitting up the one of the drag, where there is sure to be less of a line. read more

The absolute best snow cones in the area (or maybe in the world). All the syrups are home made and yummy - not your basic red or purple. There is a coffee flavor which I love with cream added to it. The kids like bubblegum. There are also sugar free syrups (I don't know what they use to sweeten these). The ice is always soft and melts in your mouth and the syrup is all through it to the last sweet slurp. read more

Had it not been right on busy Barton Spring Rd I might've done a little dance, a la Jack Black in High Fidelity: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVv5sIY57TA&feature=related. But I needed both hands for what I was eating, and moving too fast would jeopardize things. The cones are $2, and they are about refreshment, satisfaction, and holy communion. I got the wedding cake and the piña colada with cream. You must get the cream. It's 50¢ and 2lbs extra, but worth it. I'm not sure what's in it, and I don't want to start asking in case it's illegal. But poured throughout my sno cone of delicious was creaminess of yum. And one day I may indeed lose all my friends for ignoring them while I eat something as wonderful as this. Ok look there is this guy who did some research and now he's all over the talk show circuit saying how sugar is a toxin and it's going to kill us all after making us fat. That was a fun 60 Minutes to watch literally one hour after having had a big sweet tea sno cone made with the softest/bestest shaved ice ever. You know what, Mr. Sugar Will Kill You? That sno-cone was totally worth it. It was worth the wait in line, too, but you know that seems like small fries now. read more

I can't believe that I'm the first to review this location of Sno-beach... in my circle, it's pretty much a legend. Owned by a nice guy (also named Don P.) who is often seen making cones, sno-beach is a nice white trailer that was located near P Terrys on S. Lamar for years before recently moving to it's current Barton Springs location. Sno-beach serves one thing... snowcones. I'd say close to a hundred flavors and you can add creme if you'd like (I recommend it) served in nice styrofoam cups by cute and nice college girls. A sno-beach is the perfect beginning or ending or both to a zilker or barton springs trip... kinda pricey for a snowcone but tastes just as good as ice cream but better for you and you'll feel good when you get done eating it. Try it once and Sno-beach will become a fixture in your trips to Barton Springs. ==================== Lisa, two MORE words: Bahama Mama (with creme) read more

I LOVE this place! No where east of the Hawaiian Islands will you find shave ice this delish! My favorite, and the only one I've ever tried, is the Pink Grapefruit with Cream. It's fresh and smooth. The prices are very reasonable for something this refreshing and tasty - but bring cash and nothing over a $20 or you will find yourself running back to your car and scrounging for change between the seats! True shave ice - not crushed - it's light like a fresh snow fall. They shave some into the cup - pour some flavoring - and continue shaving and pouring until it's mounded like the Matterhorn! I stop here after I come through town or after a great day canoeing on Town Lake. Don't waste your time at any other snow cone or shave ice wagon - you'll be disappointed after having Sno-Beach. Wish they would fix their name - To be authentic Hawaiian style - it's not Shaved - it's Shave. Just ask www.matsumotoshaveice.com/ in Haleiwa, HI. Mahalo! read more

I really don't understand the hype. It taste like a regular snow cone! This one just cost more, and they don't put enough syrup. I feel like this business put too much effort to encourage ppl to post 5 stars on yelp, & that's how they fool others to come taste BASIC snow cones! Don't be fooled! This place is a fraud. YUM. Love this sno-beach location because of the following: 1) Parking is usually easy to find in the back. BUT WATCH OUT FOR POTHOLES in the parking lot. THERE ARE A TON. 2) There is more seating than the Guadalupe location-- and umbrellas so you can sit in the shade. Service & friendliness is really hit or miss. Tip: -Get cream topping if you want a less fatty version of ice cream. -You can get 2 flavors if you want half & half. - Throw your cup & napkin away as soon as you're done or else you'll attract the bees. read more

Wow. I remember sno cones as a kid were never as satisfying as they looked. They ended up being hard crunchy ice chunks with some sugary syrup that never quite penetrated the ice and eating it was like a brain freeze on ice. Sno beach is just like the sno cone I wished for as a kid. I dreamed it would taste like this and now it does! It's just like a fluffy snow ball in a cup with the most delicious flavors imaginable. I have no idea what the Silver Fox is but it tastes fantastic, like a soft vanilla cloud. I also love the sour flavors, they are just sour enough to take the sweet edge off. And on a hot Austin day, there's nothing like Sno Beach to cool you from the inside out. read more

I am something of a Hawaiian Shave Ice connoisseur. I can compare/contrast the differences in size, flavor, and texture of Oahu's Waiola Shave Ice, Matsumoto Shave Ice and the Big Island's Scandinavian Shave Ice. These are probably Hawaii's three best shave ice places, and I would put SnoBeach up against any one of them. It's crazy good and you won't be disappointed. Shaved Ice always reminds me of my childhood when I had the Snoopy Shaved Ice Maker and I would make as a kid. Last time I've had Shaved Ice, the ice was hard to swallow and you would have to chew it. So I was hesitant when my friend suggested that we go here. The employees are friendly and the lines move fast. I had strawberry, mango and cream and it was good. The cream makes the difference. I love this place because it's yet another tradition that makes Austin unique. If you're ever chililn at Zilker snow beach is always a place you should go after. The ice is PERFECT and the cones are massive and the flavors are SO GREAT and constantly changing. There is only one slightly negative thing that people should be warned of. 1) When there is a long line some of the girls working there think they can remember 6 different orders made up of 2-3 flavors each... THEY CAN'T!!! but, if they screw up the snow cone is still good. haha read more

Damn these lovelies know how to do it right. The shaved ice is perfect, and soft, like the fresh powder I'd knock off my snowboard in Colorado in February. But it's summer. In Texas. And these folks know MAGIC. Read about them via Thrillist a week or two ago, and I've been in the market to find a good snocone, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I was not disappointed. In fact, I waited in a 25min line, after having jogged the Town Lake Loop - I thought I was going to pass out waiting for a cup of that there sno-cone magic - but I not only survived, I walked away in a fog of syruppy, sour green apple sweet bliss.
