If you want to go to a place that has character in every square inch of the decor you should go here. If you want customer experiences that range from good to downright abysmal you should also go here. The place oozes character with its walls and tables covered in Sharpie writings proclaiming everything from how much Joe loves Jill to various more risqué or somewhat offensive things. The place looks like it belongs in some grunge or punk rock music video. It looks dirty, but a designed dirty. I have been there several times over the course of a couple of years and I can say that I don't trust the kitchen to make anything that involves any skill. I've had their ribs that have been dry as hell that were only saved by the decent sauce covering them. I've had their decently made quesadilla that came with room temperature rice and downright cold frijoles. I ordered their steak and asked for medium-rare and was later served something that could only generously be called well-done. I ordered one of their all day breakfast meals that came with scrambled eggs that were so overcooked and rubbery that i could have bounced them on the floor. The one good meal i had was when I there with my girlfriend and a plate of Cactus In The Valley nachos was ordered and it was actually really good. The plate was huge and could easily feed a small army. Of all the things on the menu that I have tried that was easily the best one. Then, oh boy, the service. On multiple occasions the table I have been at has been forgotten by the staff. We have literally had to flag down our waiter multiple times on the same visit. The waiters range from friendly and nice to treating you like an inconvenience on them talking to their friends at the bar. The staff is absolutely overzealous when it comes to checking ID for alcohol as well, which comes from the fact it is very popular among the university and hipster crowds. If you look remotely under 30 you better bring ID with you. I can't recommend this place at all for anything other than aesthetic and nachos. If you want a grungy place with good nachos then you have found the spot. If you want a good culinary experience then look elsewhere read more

since the first time I had gone here I have been a huge fan!! their drink choices are good, and student salary friendly. the nachos are heavenly, and cater to my vegetarian needs!! they even have DAIYA!! which was a very pleasant surprise!! these nachos are loaded with all the goodness I need and always satisfy!! just sensational!! they also have other options which I hate to admit, but I have not yet tried them out!! I am big on atmosphere as well and I had loved it from the beginning! the student and young adult crowd is always bustling and friendly!! on occasion there are not enough seats, but they now serve upstairs as well! the music is always entertaining, perfect mix of music for my musical tastes!! I don't care what other people say about their cleanliness and stuff - this is just the best Mexican style restaurant! Really good food, reasonable prices, a relaxed atmosphere... That works for me! They have the best nachos in town: crisp tortilla chips, not oily, with lots of cheese! Their King's Crown nachos is absolutely fantastic and can serve up to 3 people! RUDE STAFF, HORRIBLE SERVICE, WATERED DOWN DRINKS!!!!! When we entered Sneaky Dees, the hostess asked how many, then abruptly turned around and walked away. No smile, no follow me or welcome. We only knew to follow her when she picked up a few menus after walking a few steps. Then she placed the menus on the center of a small table & walked away. Never once made eye contact even. (I should point out it wasn't busy, Saturday evening & the place was maybe a third full) Our server spent most of the time standing & talking to co-workers (not working, or waiting other tables) He never noticed when our drinks or plates were empty, despite being less than a meter away at the wait station which was directly across from our table. Much like the hostess, he never made eye contact with us & we had to attempt to flag him down multiple times. After he cleared away our food and drinks we waited for a full fifteen minutes before he finally approached our table to ask if we were ready for the check. Um... yeah, what else were we going to do, hanging out at a restaurant with no food & no drinks????? Finally the food... eh, not so good. Our "margaritas" tasted like watered down kids lime drink.. There was no hint of alcohol. It didn't even resemble the gross overly sweet lime mixer that many bars use. Just... watery lime drink. Chips were stale & flavorless. I was really looking forward to trying this place, but the experience was simply horrible. Bad staff, bad service, bad food & bad drinks. Avoid it. read more

I came here for the cheap drinks and nachos after cruising yelp reviews. $5 long island iced teas and $6.50 for margaritas and frozen daiquiris. Nachos albeit super unhealthy were good and very very filling for the price ($13.00 with extra toppings included). One plate of nachos is more than enough for two people as a meal. My friend and I shared a plate and couldn't even finish it, and they aren't stingy with the toppings. Service was good as well, but the music's pretty loud so be prepared to speak at a higher volume than normal. read more

We ordered from this place via just eat and ordered a yucatan. The description for this is "a burrito pequeno stuffed with frijoles & an enchilada or a taco served with rice and ensalada." We ordered the stuffed burrito with frijoles & and enchalada. All that was in the box was 2 enchaladas. An enchalada has chicken and beans inside a wrap with cheese on top. The other thing which was supposed to be a burrito was the exact same thing as the enchalada, no sauce inside of either. All the rice was just on the side, no lettuce, sour cream none of it. The order was placed around 6:30 and then delivery would come in at 7:25, actual delivery time was 8:07 and the food was cold. When just eat called the store all they said was that's how they make their burritos. TL;DR I would recommend to definitely avoid ordering from this place unless you want cold food, delivered late, and not even what you ordered from a place that tells you that's just how they make it as an excuse. i visit sneaky dees on a regular basis. However, yesterday i was really disappointed with the attitude and approach of one bar tender. Im brown, I get it. But you dont have to make me wait at your section to just get a drink. You cannot get done serving all your people first and then finally come to me. THAT IS RUDE. Secondly. I bought a lot of drinks and spent a lot of money on me and my friends. HE KNOWS THAT, cos it was who was serving me the drinks. Again i had to wait. But this time for some reason this guy was only interested in serving the girls. I wanted his attention and so i reached him by tapping on his SHOULDER. i dint know how else to approach him. (i came there to drink and have a good time at your event, not to see his face or get offended by his actions). He looked at me, told me dont touch me and called in for the security. He told the security that i touched him on his fave, to be specific, on his beard. i mean WHAT THE ****? i was told to leave the bar. I tried talking to your bouncer and told him exactly what happened. told him that i am from a different culture and i see nothing wrong in approaching some one by tapping their shoulder. the bouncer told me, "Then why dont you go back to your country and have some fun." I was shocked. I get it, that you might not care about a single customer cos you have many other people who visit your restaurant and club everyday. Sneaky Dee's came highly recommended from a friend, so a few of us decided to check it out. The drinks are reasonable priced, and this bar has better food than many of the restaurants I've been to. I would recommend the King's Crown nachos, and the Texas Egg. Both the decor and music are punk-rock themed; there's "graffiti" on the benches and in the washrooms, and it all fits well with the theme. My only concern would be that they're a bit understaffed at times. This didn't take away from my experience too much, though. I really enjoy this place, and have a perpetual hard-on for it. read more

This is my favourite place downtown. Had my wedding reception there - the owner made sure all of us could fit in even though I pretty much only booked two days before it happened. The food is the best, massive portions and menu is just as big, the beer is great as they have a mix of ales and lagers whatever your mood. The music is always great as well. Went here twice with my cousin who lives near the restaurant. Really cool atmosphere with graffiti all over the wall, a cool place to bring people who have never seen Toronto. Very bad experience there today. I ordered an app and main, they both came out together so one had to get cold. My burger was charred black -- burned. When I complained and asked for a regularly cooked burger, the server was very rude, and patronizingly explained that the burgers are cooked on an open grill, that the blackness was not burned but grill marks. I know the difference. He asked if I wanted a rare burger, as if that was the opposite of what I was asking for. After much insistence he took away my burger and brought back one that was cooked normally - not pink, with grill marks, but not burned. Not a difficult concept. Very disappointed in the quality of burned food (fries, bun, and potato skins were also on the too cooked/almost burned side, but not as bad as the burger), but more so the rudeness of your staff. After reading the reviews, my husband and I decided to give this place a go while we were in the city. We walked in and the place was packed, which made me more excited about the place. Upstairs, there was a dance area and downstairs was the restaurant area. Since the place was full, we waited about 15 minutes to be seated. We waited for a while to be greeted by our waitress. I decided to be patient since it was packed, but when she did greet us, she was not very nice. After about 30 minutes, we gave our orders. I ordered the chicken burrito and my husband ordered the pulled pork burrito and a drink. We waited again for quite some time for the food. When we finally got our food, I was so upset. To wait so long to get something of such poor quality was definitely not impressive. The chicken was not seasoned at all and tasted like it came out of a can. I ate the tortilla and cheese around it and finally decided that I did not want it. The side salad was pretty good, but I was over it after that disgusting burrito. My husband's food was ok. Finally, our waitress came back and asked me why I was not eating my food. I explained to her why and she frowned a little and took my plate away. I assumed she would do something to rectify the situation, but instead she just brought us our bill (with the chicken burrito included). I expected some sort of solution to my complaint but she did not seem to care that I paid $15+ for something I barely touched. I will NEVER visit this place again. read more

Fish tacos.. not your typical fish tacos.. but were nicely toasted, crunchy, and gooing with melted cheese. Enchiladas were subpar. Mexican rice, beans, and salad were decent. Overall average place. Did not get a chance to go to the second floor for Wednesday trivia night (starts at 7:30pm!) since all the tables were full by the time 6:30pm rolled around. So if you're looking to go to trivia, get there at least an hour early! Perhaps would have been a better experience with trivia - will find out next time! read more

my boyfriend and i were tourists for a day in toronto and stopped at the placed for brunch hoping it would remind us of our favorite spot back home. we were right. there's definitely a "dive" type feel here yet everyone was very friendly. we enjoyed our bloody caesar's and both ordered from their mexican styled brunch menu. the food was unique but very very good. i would recommend this as a brunch spot while visiting toronto! read more
