I am sad to be writing this review but here goes it. Service - 2 stars Our server was new so I have to give her some grace and give her an extra star for effort. She was the only one on the floor and she couldn't answer any of our questions because it was her third day. Every question we asked, she walked to the back for an answer... one at a time. After having to go back there a few times, you'd think that the guy would just come out and talk to us. Food - 1 star Pizza: Nothing special but it was ok. Pasta: Alfredo sauce tastes like it's straight out of the jar. Chicken wings: We ordered two types of wings, both small size (6-8 wings). They brought out one large order (12 wings) in a completely different flavor than the two we ordered. When we asked about taking it off the bill, they tried to tell me that the two wing orders came on one plate. I told them I wasn't expecting anything free but I would like my bill to reflect what we were served. Even if what he said was true, one order of large wings is cheaper than two orders of smalls. Price - 0 stars The prices on their menus reflect the pictures in the yelp reviews - which are all wrong. I get inflation is real and things are expensive these days, but please update your menus. Pasta was supposed to be $11, we got charged $16.99. A fountain sprite and some syrup (Shirley temple) was $11!! This place is completely out of line, in my opinion, and I would not recommend it to anyone. So dissapointed. Ordered delivery. They took over 1 hour and 30 minutes. was cold. Pizza was dry, the tiramisu cake was destroyed and tiny. They charged me 9 bucks for this (please se photo) it arrived destroyed and soggy. The pizza was okay. Everything was good except the spinach. It smelled really bad, almost as if I'd gone mouldy. You know when you find that bag of produce from the back of your fridge? Imagine that, sprinkled on my pizza. If you like to spend $50+ on a pizza the lest you could do is be accommodating and show some appreciation for customers who drive to your location to use one of your gifted coupons. I used to come here as one of my lunch spots when I worked in downtown Renton & enjoyed the vibe, chill staff, as well as their lunch combos they have available. Every time Ive come here, I usually go for the pizza. Recently my friend and I ordered delivery since we were craving pasta and it was so good! I had the Basil Pesto Pasta Jungle Fever Pizza Pasta & my friend had the Wild Chicken Penne Alfredo Pizza Delight with a side of Deep Jungle Garlic Bread. I called in to request a couple of extra toppings after I had already placed the order and Aryan answered the phone and was able to help me. Completely unacceptable experience from start to finish. I waited over 3 hours for my food. After an hour and a half with no updates, I called the restaurant to ask about my order status and was told that because I ordered through a third-party app, my order was not a priority. That alone is bad enough, but it somehow got worse when the food finally arrived. My salad had no dressing whatsoever, and they forgot an entire item from my order. So after waiting hours, I still didn't even receive what I paid for. If you're too busy to handle third-party orders, don't accept them. Intentionally pushing customers to the back of the line while still taking their money is dishonest and incredibly unprofessional. Between the excessive wait, missing items, and blatant lack of care, this place has earned every bit of this one-star review. If you are a Renton-ite, then you know there is no place better than Smoking Monkey Pizza for that awesome slice served with that side Pacific Northwest quirky, counter-culture like grunge. But if you visited sometime after 2024, you are noticing some physical changes, culminating in what looked like post-COVID refreshing, such as a new dining area, and counter service. All of these changes were intentional as Renton is introduced to the Smoking Monkey's latest owner, Anand Kumar and his wonderful family. Taking over in 2021, the changes came subtly. The dining room has changed from an as-is esthetic to refreshed walls and a new counter/bar space with future expansion for beer taps and other spirits. As for food, the classics are STILL on the menu with some expansion into your Neopolitan Italian options to include classic pastas and tasty calzone options. When discussing salads, make sure you get a head count as portions can be generous at times - but definitely tasty. Options spring beyond just the simple ranch, Italian balasamic, and ceasar dressings. Look at the menu for the ever increasing ideas of expanding possibilities. The branding is also changing, so expect our favorite monkey to lose the cigar to be more family friendly and inspire the crowd with its newer jungle-themed mascot. The pizza is still great!! We got a bacon pizza and cheese calzone; both were really good! The crust is perfectly chewy and crispy, not greasy, with great flavor. The service was ok. Very friendly but slow. It took a long time to order, even though we were the only table. The pizza came out first and the calzone was about 10+ minutes behind. We had to get it to go at that point since the kids were done with their food. Also, the bathroom reeked of urine. I could still smell it after coming back to the table. I think I'd order pizza from here again but definitely won't eat in. It was $75 for a pizza, calzone, 3 cans of soda and one tap beer. This has been on our list to try for a while based on the reviews. So tonight we decided to give it a try, boy were we disappointed. We ordered Bacon Potato Skins as an appetizer which came out after the pizzas we ordered. They were AWFUL. Hands down the worst potato skins I've ever head. They were clearly frozen with some cheese and bacon added to jazz them up. The cheese was burnt. They were flat out horrible. We also ordered two pizzas. The Pepperoni Paradise Pizza with black olives and Green Gorilla Garden. The pizzas came out one at a time before the appetizer. The pizza crust tastes like cardboard. I've had better frozen pizza. This may be the worst pizza I've had in Washington. While the staff was nice. They struggled to take our order. I had to repeat myself several times. I came to Smoking Monkey on Saturday at 7:00 for some food! I ordered a slice of the "Rumble in the Jungle" pizza and the Buffalo Chicken Bowl (their salad). There isn't too much to tell-I ordered my food at the counter, and got to dine in and have a meal to myself in a fun and casual environment. The salad was HUGE-they are generous with their serving sizes, so I took it home. No complaints here and a very happy belly :) I love the flavors they offer and their slices are big. The service was good however I ordered the Chicken fettuccine with shrimp. It tasted great but I was very disappointed because they used BAY shrimp. That right there is a let down especially when they add on 2.75 for it. They also added in broccoli when I didn't ask for it. What if I were allergic to broccoli?! They should stick to pizza. Came here to pickup pizzas on the way home from the airport with a couple friends from out of town. The cashier (who I believe is the owner?) was so incredibly friendly and attentive. He took our orders and brought us water while we were waiting. There is a large dining room for eating in as well as a bar. My friend ordered gf crust and mentioned it was excellent. She really enjoyed the texture as well as how well it held up the next day when enjoying leftovers. I ordered the regular crust and got a veggie pizza, adding pineapple. We happened to walk by on our way to the farmer's market and noticed they were celebrating their 11th anniversary to decided to stop in to support. We got free loaded fries (more on that later), and since all pizzas were BOGO, we got two pizzas. Their menu is huge! I was a little overwhelmed with all their options, and ended up getting what we were familiar with - a meat heavy one, and a combination. We walked around the farmer's market and when we came back, our order was ready. We brought the pizzas and fries home to eat, and sadly were a bit disappointed.. especially in the loaded fries. They were just regular fries. There was nothing "loaded" about them except some sweet sauce drizzled on? See photo. I wouldn't recommend getting them unless you just want sweet, normal fries. As for the pizzas, they were fine. There was a good amount of toppings which I like. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here for pretty average pizza though. We hosted our son's 8th birthday party at Smoking Monkey. Tom was so responsive and helpful with the planning process. I went into the event very comfortable that everything would be taken care of, and it was. The party went off without a hitch. Food was prompt, hot and tasty. Service was great. They went above and beyond to make my son's day special with music and little party favors. We didn't request the extras and there was no charge. We were really touched and felt cared for. With twenty 8-year-olds, we kept it simple with pies and 2L's. That worked well for us. But they also had a number of other tasty looking offerings to add on. There was no tip option with card payment or default gratuity added to the check. We came back with cash after we finished at 8bit Arcade down the street. So, save yourself a trip and bring cash. The room is not huge but large enough for our party of 30 to lunch. The bathrooms are accessed through a work area. If you choose this venue for a similar event, just know it's a restaurant, not a kids' venue. You will need to manage the kids, so they don't become disruptive. read more

I've tried to give Smoking Monkey Pizza a fair chance, but after my third incorrect order, I'm giving up on this spot. Pizza is too expensive these days to risk getting something completely different from what you ordered. This time, I placed a "build your own" pizza order with cheese, marinara, ground beef, red onions, black olives, and lettuce on top. What I received instead was cheese, sausage, Mama's peppers, red onions, ham, and lettuce. For me, this was inedible--and it was especially disappointing because I was really looking forward to the pizza I had carefully selected. I've called in about mistakes before, but the response has always felt like an interrogation, as if I must have entered the order wrong. I have my order receipt and can see that's not the case. At $27 for a small pizza (with tax and tip for takeout), accuracy matters. To make things worse, the pizza wasn't ready at the suggested pickup time. The restaurant was empty when I arrived, so I assume they were busy with deliveries or other orders. I didn't mind waiting, but there was no offer for a drink or any small accommodation while I waited. I used to frequent the previous business in this same location (with the same pizza oven) for years and always enjoyed it. Smoking Monkey's pizza is just "okay" by comparison, and after multiple mistakes, I won't be coming back--unless my kids beg for it. But truthfully, even they now prefer the neighborhood alternative over this place. I'm writing this review not to be harsh, but because I think details matter--especially when customers are paying premium prices. Undercarriage of the pizza was perfectly done and the toppings were generous on a very well-made pizza. Easy to find parking nearby. Beware of ordering pizza delivery. I placed an order & received confirmation. A bit later got text pizza was out for delivery. It never arrived. When I finally was able to reach the restaurant by phone, the woman said they were really busy so they did not make my order. She would have to cancel it. My debit card was charged $70, no refund. Numerous unanswered calls, emails & hassles with my bank. Despite assurances still no refund. A total ripoff. I get it's a small business but certainly a few months is enough time to resolve?
