Extremely good food. Service was excellent. Vibe not bad but was a Tuesday evening. If crowded, might be hard to carry on a conversation. read more

The wings were the standouts here, along with the Jerk BBQ!! Nice depth of flavor to those wings. When you add that BBQ sauce....YES! And these weren't even BBQ'd. The corn muffins had a nice flavor. I could actually eat two of them. The server was extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive. The patio is nice and open, but the inside of the restaurant has zero character. It gives old-country-BBQ-restaurant-that's-not-in-the-country, so it feels out of place. Flavor was seriously lacking with the creamy Mac & Cheese and the cole slaw. Salt and pepper were my friends today. What was supposed to be the star performers let me down. 1. To begin...the meat samplers were actually small for the price. 2. The pulled chicken seemed more minced than anything. There was some flavor there, but it was just too dry for me. You have to smother it in BBQ sauce. 3. The problem is the BBQ meats had a chill on them, and when the chicken's chopped that small, it cools off almost instantly, so you're stuck eating lukewarm-to-cold meat. 4. The beef brisket was dried out too. This place was a one and done for me. read more

I'm up in Florence for work and my group decided to try Smokin' This and That for lunch. The reviews were solid but when we went on a Tuesday, we were a bit concerned because there was nobody there... Peak lunch hour. So either it's just not popular for lunch or it was just an off day. Our group ordered and we were relieved as 4 more patrons walked in... But even during our stay, no more people came in. Well... Our group ate our words and stuffed our faces with some really good barbecue. We all mostly got sandwiches but these sandwiches were huge honking sandwiches. I think our waitress said it was half a pound. I ordered the brisket sandwich and macaroni and cheese. The mac and cheese was creamy and warm. I was hoping for a sharper bite of cheese flavor but it was still good nonetheless. The brisket sandwich was really really good. It wasn't sliced brisket but was more "pulled" consistency, like pulled pork. It was moist and tender (not dry at all). The sauce was perfectly sweet and complimented the smoky, rich brisket. My colleagues couldn't finish theirs but one ordered the chicken sandwich and another a pork. All of them were pulled consistency and had excellent flavor of their respective meat (chicken and pork) but I preferred the brisket. Do yourself a favor if your craving barbecue and come to Smokin' This and That! read more

There is a covered outside area or you can eat inside. We went there for a late lunch so it was pretty empty. There was one server who must have known the 2 ladies at the bar because she spent a lot of time talking to them. The food was okay. The sides are small, we didn't like the house bbq sauce but the jerk bbq sauce had a nice spice. The wings were good and the pulled pork sandwiches were missing the coleslaw. The parking lot is stone/gravel without any markings but they have a good amount of space for parking. Not sure we would venture back. read more

Ordered wings (5), okra, and a soda. Wings were horrible rubbery texture. One. If a negative star was available would definitely give it -1. Very disappointedly especially after looking for a bbq spot while visiting from out of town on a business trip. . read more

Definitely the best BBQ spot in the area. Love the potato salad here. All of the meats I've tried have been good. Mac and cheese is tasty and good sweet tea (a must at BBQ). The service is very hit or miss. Every time I've been here they rush you through ordering and sometimes seem annoyed that you are even there. Our most recent visit the worker was very attentive to us but we've also had the worker roll her eyes at us when we asked for things and made us feel uncomfortable enough it made me not want to come back in. read more

I knew this place was gonna be awesome when I pulled in the parking lot. There's a big smoker right outside the restaurant and you can smell the house BBQ sauce before you even walk inside. There's a big open patio for lots of guests which is a staple for summer time. The food is just amazing. I ordered the loaded French fires with pulled pork for an appetizer and my wife had a look wondering why I ordered it. When it came and my wife and daughter took a bite, she could now see my curiosity. Coming from a guy who isn't a fan of avocado anything say get this, you can take it to the bank because this was delicious! For entrées, my wife got brisket french dip. She always feels it needs to be diped in the au jois but I tried a bite and I felt it was more than flavorful and moist enough on its own. For my entrée, I tried the Meat Parfait. Yes, you read that correctly, Meat Parfait. Its whatever smoked meat you want mixed with baked beans in a Styrofoam cup topped off with coleslaw and BBQ sauce. Don't let the descriptions scare you, this was not only delicious, but very filling at the same time. If you're ever in Florence, stop in this place, you won't regret it. read more

Came here a few weeks ago. It was ok. I would try them again but it's a little expensive.

The service was great and we enjoyed the food. My husband and I shared the meat sampler. It was excellent! The smoke fried wings were tasty, the meat fell off the rib bones and the pulled pork and brisket were so tender. The sauces were so unique and delicious. The chef came out and talked with us when we asked about the flavors. Great local experience! read more

We had a group of 7 people and everyone enjoyed their food. From tacos to ribs and pork sandwiches and quesadillas. We arrived at 5:30 on Friday evening and the restaurant filled up quickly. Service was slow due to volume of people. Staff is very friendly and all orders were accurate. The new location is great. Very inviting, especially the outdoor seating area. For us the smoke on the meat was perfect. Mild flavor enough to let you know it was smoked. read more

My family was excited to try a new family owned BBQ spot. We left extremely disappointed. We found the overall experience below average, we won't return. Overall atmosphere is a bit over the top. Pros: The ribs were meaty, the pork sandwich was piled high. Cons: The coleslaw was mushy and tasteless, the Mac and cheese was inedible, 2 different beers we tried were flat, we did not like the BBQ sauce. read more

Very good ribs and pulled pork. Since Montgomery Inn's quality has declined Inhave been looking for a good rib joint in Cincy area. Smokin This & That definitely fits the bill. Ribs were great and they have a unique decor with salutes, memorabilia to ALL our Armed Forces. Great place. Highly recommend. read more

I was in the mood to try something new so I looked up restaurants in area. Walking in was underwhelming. It is huge and looks like it could be really fun with games for kids to play. There were only a couple of other people there though. It was around 1pm on a Sunday. I'm not sure if it's busier at other times. I wasn't sure what we would like, so we ordered 2 meat plates. Sharing, this let my husband and I try the chicken, pulled pork, brisket, and ribs. There were 2 different sauces to try. One was super sweet. The other is supposed to be spicy but isn't. I think that one was the best but I wasn't actually impressed with either. I wish we would have tried the tacos or something where the meat didn't have to shine on its own. It might have called for a higher rating. The service was great. The server was friendly. It makes me want to like the place more. For sides we both got the Cole slaw which was a mistake. It is pretty tangy and might be good with the meat in a sandwich... but isn't wonderful on its own. My husband didn't think so either. His Mac and cheese was good. The only thing we both agreed was great was the potato salad. That plus the service and the ambiance makes me think it's worth another chance if I'm in the area again. read more

Great food and friendly staff. We stopped in tonight for brisket tacos. They were amazing! The homemade avocado sauce is awesome! The servings were huge. The sides were overflowing the container. read more

Huge portions, friendly staff. They have a new location on us 18 that I can't wait to try. Very juicy not dry bbq.

We were in town from Florida for a bengals game and decided to make the drive down to try this place because the reviews were decent. What a mistake. Positives first: the server was nice. Negatives second: the smoked wings were undercooked, the skin was leathery and chewy, my son who eats anything refused to eat them. The brisket doesn't come sliced only pulled and tasted more like pot roast from Cracker Barrel than a smoked brisket from a BBQ spot, I ended up just throwing it away. the wife ordered the brisket sandwich which was so wet that the bottom bun was inedible defeating the purpose of ordering a sandwich and she also threw hers away. Overall extremely disappointing and I can't understand how or why the reviews are so good. There's definitely a disconnect happening somewhere or the reviews are payed for. read more

Stopped here as we were on the road and were quite disappointed. We ordered the sandwiches -- one pork and one brisket. While the portion sizes were more than adequate, the flavor was incredibly bland. There are no spices or rub added to it at all-- just the smoke flavor. The pork was moist, but the brisket was a bit dry. We tried both the signature sauce and the "little spice" sauce and neither was anything to write home about. But then we got to the cole slaw and baked beans. I have no idea how they did it, but then cole slaw had absolutely no flavor at all. We tried adding salt and pepper, but it still was bland. And the baked beans tasted straight from a can with nothing added to enhance the flavor. Gave it two stars only because the pork was moist and the young lady who served us was nice. read more

The Food, service and ambiance is great ! Family run business the ladies who helped us out really took their time in explaining the menu and pointed us in the right direction! Smokin' This and That BBQ - After dinner - Barbeque Near Me - Florence, Kentucky

This place exceeded my expectations. We're visiting from California and wanted to find a good bbq spot out here. I'm glad we overlooked the recent low-rating reviews, because everyone really enjoyed this place. Service: There were three workers and we only interacted with two, but the service was top notch. Super friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Ambiance: Military-themed restaurant. I've never seen anything like it. It was different but cool. There's even slot machines inside lol. Would love to come on a night with live music if they do that (there's a stage). Loved the music they played on the speakers. Food: Very very reasonable prices for their food as well as very big portions. The half rib was enough for two people to share and we even had 3 ribs to take home. * mac n cheese was thick, just how I like it. * cheesy grits weren't my favorite just bc they're reeeally cheesy, but on the flip side, my boyfriend loves cheese so he loved this dish. * cornbread was warm, dense, and perfect with the butter. The family absolutely loved it. (Had to go back and order more) * tater salad was one of my favorites! brings that freshness to a big meal. * tater bites were fresh, perfectly crispy, and seasoned well. * green beans were okay. * smoked chicken wings were ohhh myyyy goshhhhh 10/10 -- juicy, big, inexpensive, delicious. * baby back ribs had an almost Cajun seasoning to them. They were good, not dry, lots of meat on the bone. Could be cooked a little slower. * sauce they had on the table was really good and I'm not really a sauce person Cons: It was a hot day and you could feel the humidity inside still. One of the workers was fanning themselves. They deserve a little colder/comfortable work place. Cole Slaw was lacking and needed a little something extra. read more

Got the Trifecta! Brisket (not thick sliced brisket, resembles more like pulled pork) very flavorful and juicy, potato salad is delicious! My family tried the new location after church this afternoon. I've had good experiences at the old location in the past. However, today's dining was a big disappointment. The place wasn't full but there was a large group of maybe 20 people who were seated outdoors ahead of us. The service was not good, there appeared to be only 2 servers and they were washing glasses among everything else. Our food took a while to get and we had to take our glasses inside to ask for a refill and later we had to do the same to pay the bill. My grandson went in to ask for a different sauce than the one & only sauce on the table. They gave him a small amount in a little cup and it appeared on the bill 50cents. My wife had a sandwich and a side of baked beans. All sides were extra. The portion was in what appeared to be a small condiment bowl. We may try again with hopes that the move has set them back a bit. Love the military theme and what the owner does for veterans. I hope it gets better and he succeeds. read more

If you'd like the best of the best that Notthern Kentucky has to offer then this is the place for you! Very generous portions of the most succulent and scrumptious bbq you've ever had the pleasure to sink your chops into. Met the owner when they stopped to help me on the side of the road. Great family! Looking forward to trying the food soon!

We've visited twice for lunch, had different items each time. Both times everything was outstanding! If you like cheesy grits as a side, this is it. Pork BBQ & brisket is moist, tender, full of flavor. Mac n cheese omg! Brownie was fresh & not dry. The young lady who serves & takes diner orders is awesome, friendly, prompt, an asset to the business. Met the owner last time. Friendly, genuine guy, Guy. Ambiance is casual. When we walked in we could smell the wonderful smell of smoked meat. We enjoyed the taco special. We tried the brisket, the chicken, the pork and the rib tacos. They were all delicious! The meat was moist and plentiful. We also had a side of mac and cheese. It was piping hot and creamy. They have a large menu to choose from and reasonably priced. Everyone was pleasant and very friendly. Definitely a place we'd return to. read more

Had a late dinner here for the first time with my spouse on 5/28 about 8:15pm. As a disabled veteran I had heard rave reviews about this place, and their support for the military. . It was apparent the lady at the counter did not want to be there, and that our mere presence seemed to bother her. I did not expect anyone to kiss my fourth point of contact but I felt disrespected by the complete lack of customer service skills. This establishment was completely empty except for another family. Please do better at welcoming new customers and fellow veterans. read more

Smokin' This and That BBQ in Florence, KY is a military supporting, all American, smoking hot food joint. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and just missed the lunch crowd. The service was exceptional. The staff was friendly and informative - they offered samples of the different meats, and they even had a small beer memorial set up to honor the 13 US Marines who were KIA (August 2021). Although everything on the menu looked good, I went with the BBQ Brisket Sandwich and Tater Bites, which did not disappoint. The meat was tender and juicy; the BBQ sauce was mouthwatering, and the Tater Bites hit the spot. You owe yourself a visit to Smokin' This and That!! read more

We came in at 615 on a Saturday night and while only about 6 tables were full they had a huge line of about 15 of us. Tracy and Ashley did AMAZING! They kept up with all the guests orders, kept smiling (even though they were definitely stressed, as they told us the only had 3 tables all day until this rush) but they worked SO HARD to make everyone happy. The food was also good. We got two orders of tacos, some pulled pork, the loaded potatoes and some chocolate bacon. We are a military family (our dad, a Marine Captain, retired after 21 years and just recently passed away). We were so excited to see such a pro military establishment. Merica It's truly places like this that I use Yelp. I'm in town for biz and was at Costco picking up a gift and decided to bypass corporate row for something local. Yelp: bbq. Smokin was just a few miles down the road. It's so refreshing to find hard working people doing good things. The owner was present and asked if I had served as they were giving away free meals for the Marine Corp 246th birthday. I have not but have the most respect for those that do. Then there's the Missing Man Table when you walk in. I'm getting teary just tying this. So why about the food? Legit BBQ. Service was awesome, the server asked if It was my first time and offered up a sampler platter of meats. I ended up going with two pork tacos, some Mac and a smoked egg. I got my protein in. Nothing less than 5 stars. read more

So glad we found this BBQ joint! Located right off the highway, they are first responder & military friendly! They had Hubby sign the wall for us since we are first responder/military. They asked if it was our first time and when we said yes they brought out a tray with brisket, chicken, pork and ribs for us to taste! Taco Tuesday they offer buy 2 tacos get one free. Hubby ordered chicken, pork and brisket tacos. I got pork, brisket and rib tacos. Daughter #1 got 2 brisket tacos and Daughter #3 snagged the free chicken taco. Daughter #2 splurged with a half rack of ribs (enough for her dinner too ). Everything was great! Hubby said the chicken was dry but he loved the brisket and pork.
