We decided to try out this little bbq joint Fort Wright. They had lots of the bbq favourites such as smoked turkey, sausages, ribs, and more. I went with the smoked wings with hot bbq sauce (you could get regular bbq or just dry as well). They were huge wings and absolutely delicious. They smoked them to perfection and the bbq sauce was hearty and flavourful. I got a baked potato with cheese as a side and I really liked it as well. My wife got smoked turkey and sausage and really enjoyed that. The service was excellent and the restaurant really looked and smelled awesome. I thought I'd done a review for here before but somehow I never posted. I really enjoy food from this spot. The ribs are so tender and seasoned to perfection. They also have some of the best banana pudding I've had from a restaurant. There is plenty of seating inside, big enough for a group event and it's not a rowdy type of establishment. I've eaten here quite a bit and can say I'm a regular. They have good sides to go with their delicious meat options. read more

Pretty average barbecue. Clearly it is a crowd favorite, by 6 pm the line was out the door! Though I imagine the Fish Fry Friday had something to do with it. We got the dry rub smoked wings, brisket, sausage, fries, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans and ofcourse fish fry. There wasn't anything I would return for. The best was the fish fry but again like all barbecue places, prices were inflated. My family loves brisket and they found it unedible unfortunately. read more

I know this place has been open for a while but finally stopped by for dinner. Can't believe I haven't been before but was pleasantly surprised. Had the pick two meats. Ribs were fall off bone and jalapeño sausage so good. Sauce is a bit sweet but not bad. Green beans were pretty good, needed some salt but like the choice to add myself. First time out here on a weekend foodie adventure. I have had BBQ all over the USA, and by FAR, this is one of the very best. The wings had just enough sweet and heat and char buffed to make them amazing. Brisket was tender and flavorful- didn't even need a knife. Pulled pork? Phenomenal. And then the sides. I tried the mustard based potato salad and smoked green beans. Holy cow were they great. This is family owned and operated (per the sign on the wall), and the customer service is fantastic. The Barbeque is smoked on site. Always what you want to look for in a good Que place. The pulled pork was perfect; tender, flavorful, not fatty or greasy, superb! One sauce choice, but it's just the right blend of sweet and sassy. Sides are always good here-today we got the delicious baked beans that you can tell are made from scratch, as well as the homemade mac and cheese. We topped it off with fresh brewed sweet tea! Delicious barbecue at a decent price ... it doesn't get much better than that! We've eaten at Harmon's a few times since discovering this Ft. Mitchell favorite last summer. They're great with both dine-in and carry-out. If you opt to dine-in, enjoy their casual, elbows-on-the-table atmosphere where anyone is welcome. Having spent several years living in Texas, I consider myself somewhat of a BBQ aficionado, and this place is doing it right. My favorite thing on their menu is the loaded potato - topped with either pulled pork or brisket. Like any good barbecue joint - you have to stop in early in order to get the meat you want - because they often run out of their top-sellers. The smoked wings are also a must-order - they're delicious served dry, but I love the barbecue sauce too much to ever order them that way. Parking is easy and plentiful. The restaurant well laid out, easy to navigate and appointed as one would expect of a barbecue restaurant. Spacious tables and comfortable chairs. Good, but not true Texan. If you're used to authentic TX BBQ, you'll be disappointed. Pros: the fries and creamed corn were great. The meat itself was good. Cons: the cornbread was yellow cake; worst than our fav box mixes. I enjoyed the BBQ sauce (I like sweet) but my 2 Texan friends gave it a big thumbs down. The biggest disappointment was - we were told they were sold ouit of sliced brisket (at 6:30pm). But then 30 min. later a family sat next to us with a plate full. What's the one place you recommend to anyone who will listen? For me, it's Harmon's BBQ. I talked yet another friend into going today and just had to write a review while the experience was fresh in my mind. You walk in and a glorious wall of smokiness hits you. That smell cannot be replicated artificially and you just know as soon as it hits you that the food is going to be amazing. The portion sizes are great for the price. You can tell everything is handmade, and every meat I've had there has been perfection. My favorite is the turkey. Today my friend tried the pulled pork and it was incredibly tender and smoky. He actually bookmarked the restaurant on his phone because he agrees this place is the real deal. I just realized I forgot to get another favorite of mine, the banana pudding, while I was there today. Guess I have an excuse to go back sooner than later. I literally told them when I left that I love them and hope they never go out of business. True definition of an underrated gem! I have been craving legit BBQ for quite some time and I even bought myself a Kamado Joe Jr. to start learning how to do it at home. Let's just say it's been a bit chilly to smoke at home. Not too cold for me to stop trying, just too cold to produce legit results as a rookie. My barber told me about this shop and I went on a Fridee afternoon, right around lunchtime. They are doing a good job of spacing tables 6 feet apart and sanitizer is available. All the staff are wearing masks, which is a good sign these days. I ordered a 2 meat plate, with brisket and ribs. 2 sides, mac n cheese and baked beans. Brisket was thick, fatty, with really nice chunky bark. Really well done and tasted great! Ribs were thick cut, nice tender porky goodness. BBQ sauce is a bit on the sweet side, but decent either way. Mac N Cheese was okay and it's not their fault. Large batch mac n cheese is difficult to pull off because when it's ready and served hot, that's when it's at it's best. After 10 minutes, the train starts to leave the tracks and the acceleration is rapid from then on. Baked beans were a medley of beans, rather than the standard pinto beans you typically see. They mixed it some pulled pork and maybe even some burnt ends too. Super good! Now, here is where the ship starts to sail in the wrong direction. I went back a week or so later, on a Saturdee night around 7. Not terribly busy, but lots of folks picking up take-out plates. I order and sit down and hear a faint voice calling out names. I don't think she said my name, but I couldn't make it out. So, I walk over and ask if they called Hector. Blank stare for what felt like a good 8 seconds. "Yeah, I did. You already got your food." (I blink quickly, as not to curse) "Actually, I didn't." She blank stares me again and says I did. She calls someone over to help and turns out, they gave my grub to someone else who left already. Not an issue. I can wait. They serve up the food in a few minutes and I take it back to get my grub on. Brisket was pathetic and resembled slivers of meat, rather than slices. Flavor was decent, but I paid good money honey. This is lame. Hey! At least I have ribs too! Well, I kinda sorta had ribs. I actually had an itsy bitsy teenie weenie bit of something that may have been ribs at some point. Not cool. So, moral of the story is. Y'all got me. And to quote the not so great Dubya. In our search for a great southern BBQ place upon moving to Kentucky, we tried a few highly rated Yelp places and finally found Harmon's. Can't comment on ambiance or service because we ordered it on DoorDash but I have nothing but praise for the food! We ordered everything from brisket to pulled pork to slaw to beans and cornbread and everything was absolutely delicious. I loved how all the flavors of all the main and side dishes complemented each other so well and really came together for a wonderful meal. The cornbread was moist, fluffy and delicious. We were visiting from out of town where bbq rules. So we both are a bit of bbq snobs. This is a fast casual type of bbq. And it screams Texas style when you enter with the decor. I ordered the pulled pork with mac and cheese and green beans. The pork was good. I do prefer pulled chicken or smoked chicken. The only chicken they offer is wings, but they have turkey. It was already flavored with some of the bbq sauce and was sweeter than what I'm used to. Still smokey, but sweet. I didn't need to add additional sauce. Green beans were good as well as the Mac and cheese, but just average. What I really missed was a bread side with a plate. Every place I've been near our home serves plates with Texas toast, cornbread, a bun or hush puppies. They did have cornbread to purchase as a side. We ate outside. The tables had some sun damage and the plastic chairs were a little too casual for me. A table next to us had people smoking, so we ate quickly and left. Overall we'd try it again.
