Run, don't walk to this restaurant. I went on a road trip, had the brisket sandwich. The meat was so tender and the rub was so tasty I didn't use bbq sauce! Great team, great service, very relaxed for a passer by restaurant. read more

My band and I were on our way back to Tennessee and we wanted to have a decent sitdown meal. I've ate at the Murfreesboro Tennessee location several times and honestly, the food is pretty consistent between the two locations. this location didn't have fried okra which I missed but what I missed more was the friendly attitude. I believe the manager was working the register and he couldn't have been any colder. In fact, the whole staff didn't look happy. Food was great. I just wish we would've got the same Tennessee hospitality when I introduced my friends to this restaurant. Restaurant was clean. The lemonade here is no good. read more

City Barbeque - Half Slab of Ribs Half Slab of Ribs Half Slab of Ribs Pulled Pork - Barbeque Near Me - Florence, Kentucky

I hadn't been to a City Barbecue in quite some time. It was just as I remembered with a few menu changes. They have really good iced tea which I like to do 1/4 sweet and 3/4 unsweet. The hush puppies and corn pudding are probably my favorite sides. And you can't go wrong with the brisket. Whether you have a big appetite or just want a little bit of something, they've got you covered. Don't forget to try the yummy barbecue sauces. And if you aren't too full, they have a wonderful peach cobbler most of the year, but right now they have a pretty amazing apple cobbler. Definitely a laid-back family friendly atmosphere. The fact that they serve real butter is a major plus! And if you can't decide on just one meat, you can always choose a combination of things depending on which meal you go with. read more

City Barbeque - Beef Brisket Hush Puppies Corn Pudding - Barbeque Near Me - Florence, Kentucky

It had been a long time since we had patronized City B. We got takeout. I'm telling you the food was just AMAZING! Everything we got was incredible. The potato salad was the best I've ever had outside of homemade! The Service was excellent. My order was 100%correct! read more

Came in for lunch on a weekday, they were moderately busy around noon'ish, but we didn't wait long to place our orders. They have a very appetizing menu, with salads, sandwiches, and then meat & side platters. I opted for their 2 meat platter to try their brisket and sausage. The sausage was rather basic, not very smokey. Tasted like it was seasoned with black pepper and not a lot more. The casing was also on the rubbery side, not very crispy. The brisket's flavor was decent, though not very smokey also. I did see that a new brisket was brought up while they were preparing our orders and I suspect I got the last of the previous one which might have been a little dried out by the time it was sliced for me. I also tried a single rib - very disappointing. Almost had the texture of being baked or made in some form other than smoking and then maybe finished with smoke. Lots of fat and not much meat on it. For sides, I tried their corn bread, cole slaw, and baked beans. The baked beans had some meat in them, but were very sweet and not very spiced in flavor. I added jalapeños to them which spiked them up nicely. Their cole slaw was excellent. Exactly how I prefer it, which is on the basic side with fresh ingredients. Not overly saucy and definitely perfectly seasoned. Their corn bread was OK, but the Texas toast they give with the meal was so much better. Their sauces were ok. I tried all of them and found that their NC vinegar sauce packed the most flavor, while I couldn't tell which was their "brush fire" spicy sauce, as the spice level seemed the same as the others. Overall, I probably should have ordered one of their appetizing-looking sandwiches, as I'm sure all the ingredients come together better like that rather than trying them individually. But I wasn't tasting much smoke in the items I tried. read more

One of my favorite go to's when I travel to Florence every 6 weeks. It's the first place we visit. But last nights dinner was extremely sub par. The brisket was overcooked so dry and chewy. When I requested a replacement they literally cut the same brisket and poured liquid on it. We couldn't eat it. The pulled chicken was dry and cold. My very first bad meal here. As a restaurant manager for 40 years.... Don't try to put a bandaid on a bad product and assume you will please your customers. Literally just make the experience right with them instead. read more

We had the most amazing service tonight. My family and I make the trip from Pittsburgh to Nashville often and we always stop in Florence, Kentucky-because it is about Half way and because of City bbq. Their food is amazing but tonight they really outdid themselves in service. The manager, Cassidy, went above and beyond to allow us to enjoy the perfect bbq dinner. We enjoy everything about city bbq and especially the staff and manager at the Florence, KY location! We will be back on our way home to Pittsburgh! read more

Up charge on fatty garbage. I ordered the brisket and got a sliver of meat with a fatty end piece. $30 down the drain. One of the employees I guess heard me complain about the fatty meat and gave us another portion which was very good. Take this for what you will. read more

Well i guess city bbq has sold out and has become a chain restaurant.....the brisket was all cut the exact same width and length...had very little smoke or fat......same with the ribs.....i used to think that city bbq was a legit place....not anymore...got the motherload order for $95.....wish i went to a steakhouse tonight.....wont be back anytime soon....very disappointed in a go to place for years read more

Best barbecue in Northern Kentucky. What makes them special besides their food is their staff. Polite, professional and caring. Especially we want to thank Kimberly who is a great asset to their company. read more

I ordered two meats and sides. The brisket was very flavorful and tender! The turkey was also good but the brisket stole the show. Potato salad and corn pudding were great dishes to complement the meat. It's probably good I don't live near the store as I would be eating here at least once a week. read more

We visited for some Kentucky BBQ. Here's what we found. Good selection and reasonable prices for traditional bbq meats. The pulled pork was better than the brisket IMO. For me the brisket was too well cooked and left dry. The sides were all delicious to include the collards, hushpuppies and potato salad. The sweet tea was spot on for southern flair as were the sauces. Being from NC originally I am particularly fond of a vinegar based sauce and City BBQ delivered. They also had a spicy sweet sauce that was more spicy than usual and for me that was great. So I would indeed recommend city bbq and glad we stopped in while visiting The Creation Museum and Ark coming out from California, where the taxes are high, the weather isn't as good as they say, the food may be better for you, but you only live once,... and yes it's still the land of fruits and nuts and not the type you eat! Ha ... who am I kidding I gotta get back to the south where the food is delicious, the people are friendly and the women are far more attractive. read more

Everything on the menu is great. For $25.00 we got four meats and two sides with Texas toast and drinks. The service is very good and the restaurant is very clean. They are really nice to their customers. read more

Food is good. Ordering a lunch order for eight people in store was a nightmare. It's as if the cashier was trying to make the whole process as difficult as possible. FYI, you cannot order in advance and pay with a credit card over the phone?! Inconvenience was the theme of this interaction. read more

Recently I got take-out from City Barbecue. We have always gotten excellent meals there until this past Friday. I ordered 1/2 lb of pulled pork and a 1/2 lb of pulled chicken, fries and hush puppies. The fries were HORRIBLE, wet with grease, cold and limp, truly gross. I threw them in the garbage. The meat was cold. And they failed to put any sauce in the bag even tho they checked the receipt that it was included. I wasted $40+ Truly disgusted I will say that the hush puppies were good. read more

Was looking for a bbq restaurant to try and decided to prefer take out from City Barbeque because of the reviews. I liked the options in their menu so that made it easier to order. I was between the family pack or the Pick Two, and I ended up ordering pick 2 to try out different meats. I got the pulled chickens and the beef brisket. That came with Texas bread and I got fries and coleslaw. We loved the brisket and the chicken, both were tasty and extremely delicious. The bread was also great. I was not a fan of the fries or the coleslaw, I regret not ordering the side of greens. Deft worth the price for the amount and super cheap deliver too. I will for sure eat here again. read more

I usually eat North Carolina BBQ because that's where I live, but I can tell you this BBQ matches the stuff in NC! I got the pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, and cole slaw. Very good food. I'll eat here again. Nice atmosphere and very helpful staff! read more

Brisket sandwich is really good , service was great and good value, clean restaurant. Will come back again.

Meats seem bland like they have been sitting too long in grease. Mac and cheese was bland. Fast service. Typical bbq place but not worth it. Would much rather try someone local that actually cares about the meat instead of putting out food for the masses. Won't be back. Wahoo it looked like a typical bbq joint with wood on the walls. read more

Good was straight fire! The 2 meat 2 side sampler is such a sigma level decision. Got the straight smackin Mac and cheese. Service up front was utterly delightful. Some real chads here. And no cap they had tons of games to play with some drippy decor. read more

This review is for the Nashville Hot Chicken. It's a 3.5 so I rounded up. So I expected some kind of sauce because the breast looks sorta red to me in the pic. It's not dipped but comes with a very flavorful, delicately spicy mayo. I like it. The coleslaw was creamy and perfect. The pickles were crisp! My sandwich was not hot although I arrived at my pickup time, but it was still good. The only qualm is that it's $9 a la cart, which seems on the high end, especially compared to the price of that other delicious chicken sandwich. read more

If you are looking for great bbq look no further! This place is amazing! The brisket is consistently perfect and full of flavor and so is the pulled pork. If you don't want pork or brisket then they have other options like chicken and this doesn't disappoint either! I had the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and it was moist and had rich flavor. The dining room is a bit stark but the wood furnishings and walls make it warm enough to be comfortable and the nice smoky smell makes it even better! If I have any criticisms it's that I'm not crazy about the actual bbq sauces and the fried pickles were a bit soggy and disappointing. Overall this is a great place with delicious food. read more

Delicious barbecue, and the corn casserole dish was so tasty! We're from KC and picky about BBQ. This was yummy. Would recommend highly.

Food use to taste good but now the brisket & ribs taste like they are not fresh. Is this location pre-cooking then keeping food in a warmer? The meat is dry, no flavor & grey looking. Smoke ribs have done right have pink color meat. Cole slaw looks good, bland tasting. Very disappointed in Florence KY location. read more

What a grumpy bunch, especially the young girl running the front end. The tall bearded guy without glasses at the register and the tall bearded young man with glasses cleaning tables..PUT THOSE 2 IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS AND BOOT THE CRANKY CATHYS!! Seriously, those two were a bright spot. The ribs were very good. I don't care for chicken or brisket just st louis ribs and I was happy. Too bad cranky cathy with the blue nail paint thought asking for 2 takeaway trays for leftovers was a federal crime. Please turn down the heat!! This isn't northern Michigan and the ambient heat from the kitchen is more than enough! Thank god I could sit outside and crack open the window in the mudroom dining area. Good grief maybe that's why the majority of the staff hate customers. read more

Probably the worst bbq I have ever had, the brisket was really dry even when smothered with bbq sauce. The price of the sandwich was expensive, it was on one piece of Texas toast...Overpriced! I heard alot of positives about the banana pudding, it was not good at all. It tasted like metal, which is a good indicator that they are using to much imitation vanilla. read more
