The chipotle sandwich was miniscule and not neat worth 8.99 the taste was overly ketchupy but after adding one of the sauces it was palatable. I was really pleased with the brisket and pulled pork. My husband enjoyed the Turkey. The sausage and chicken leg were solid. The mac and cheese was bland but my kids enjoyed it. Beans were tasty. It's suspicious that they don't specialize in one kind of bbq and instead market themselves as just American barbecue. With that being said they do it decently well. The staff was very friendly. Good is great but don't order take out. They can't seem to get take out orders right to save themselves. Then when they mess it up, they tell you to come back in to the restaurant to get what THEY left out of the order. Um, no thanks. I've had this happen multiple times and I'm DONE. I tried several things including pulled pork, brisket, pulled chicken, and sausage The pulled pork was very dry. The pulled chicken did not have any smoked flavor to it. The brisket was a little bit on the grizzly end. It was also not very moist. The green beans was good as a side as well as the coleslaw. I am a barbecue fanatic. I could eat it for all 3 meals a day. Unless it was here. DO NOT get me wrong. The FOOD is absolutely fantastic!!! Just make sure you take out a loan before choosing to eat here. I'm from Western Kentucky near where they hold an annual International Barbecue Festival in Owensboro, and even there, you aren't charged an arm and a leg for food. My girlfriend and I got a pound of pulled pork, buns, a single slice of cake, and baked beans and it was over $50. We used to order the exact same thing from an amazing barbecue restaurant when we lived in western Kentucky and it cost between $35 and $40 depending if we got the cake. Ok, i have had 2 experiences here. One to go, and the other thru catering. The barbecue here was good, just not terribly plentiful. The sides are fall under the same category... good (better than Cracker Barrel if you need a reference point) but still on the skimpy side for the price you pay. In a pinch, I will come back, but without a drive thru I will look for other places. The curbside to-go was a complete failure when I did my order, so I can't recommend that either. read more

This is one of my favourite bbq stops. I like it because the food is great (which I'll get to in a bit) it's pretty economical for what you get, and the store looks really cool. I think the best Sampler options are especially good deals as you can get a lot of food and a good sampling of most of their menu through these. I alsbrisket o like how they have several bbq sauce options right there on the table allowing you to sauce you're own stuff with whatever you want. My favourite of the sauces is the Brush Fire (their spiciest one) although my wife highly recommends the sweet bbq (they also have original and mustard based bbq sauces). Now onto what I got.... Judges Sampler What Is It: It comes with a half slab of ribs, 1/4 chicken, pulled pork, beef brisket, 2 cornbreads, and 2 sides (mac and cheese and hushpuppies for us). Presentation: Everything was well plated and definitely looked the part as bbq goes. No issues here. 8.5 out of 10 Taste: When I go to a place for the first time I love to have a sampler option to try. This was a tremendous representation of a good bit of the menu. My favourite was the chicken (mostly because I'm a chicken guy) followed by the ribs. The pulled pork and brisket was nothing to sneeze at though as they were both perfectly cooked and all the meats were great drowned in the Brush Fire sauce. The hushpuppies were fantastic as well and the Mac and cheese was above average. This is definitely enough food to easily feed 2 people so this is a great way to try out a lot of bbq for not a lot of money. 9 out of 10 read more

As is my way, I got the city sampler, which gives me a great idea of the place. All 4 meats were delicious, brisket was on point sausage and turkey ... awesome but the pulled pork stole the show. I hate, detest, despise mushy pulled pork and it is the one thing most aspiring joint fail on epically. Not at City, it was perfect, moist but not remotely mushy. Hats off to the city crew. The potato salad is also worth mentioning as it was both mayo and mustard based which provided an awesome tang. Hush puppies were also well mixed and fried. My wife and I live near Columbus, Ohio. We wish our City BBQs were as good as this one! Staff was really friendly and polite! This is a big one for us, our closest locations to home are always so rude to us for no reason... The building itself was really beautiful and comfortable. Plenty of room, nice separated sunroom area, outdoor patio, really great! Not to mention how clean the place was. Literally spotless. Big thumbs up! Haven't been to City BBQ before. We tried it as they had a food allergy menu online. My daughter has a severe food allergies to dairy and egg, so she doesn't usually dine out. We checked in and they were very accommodating. They washed hands, changed gloves, and used freshly cleaned tongs. She had the pulled pork with no bun and loved it. She also ate and loved the green beans. I had the City Platter. The brisket was the tastiest of the four meats. The turkey was good. I wanted the pork to have more flavor. I did not even use any sauce because the natural flavor was good. Not the best I've had but good for being on the road and finding it. The beans were average. Big chunks of meat but a somewhat soupy sauce, not overly complex in flavor. Probably would try other local places next time, but if you are close by, this is a decent choice. read more
