It looks like ham but I remembered it all being SO GOOD. I couldn't finish and I took home the grits. They were amazing!

I'm still thinking about the Bowl of Grits with protein. I forget what I picked but the grits were the best frame for what ever incredible "pig candy" you decide to feature in your bowl. I love the dining experience inside. We were treated to a lunchtime crew of "regulars" and the two young men working helped the coffee flow and the stories with it. Love this place. We will be back!

I hit this location pretty often. Today we're trying the Chicken Chilli, Beef brisket and of course the 1/2 slab ribs. ( Mondays only for the ribs). The place is nice and clean and well kept The lady who waited on me "Nateraid". convinced me the ribs are the "best in town". "Fall off the bone, meaty and tasty. Probably the best in Cincinnati. She wasn't lying. Past me more napkins.....

First of all, watch their Facebook because you're going to see what they make daily and give you a chance to run there before they run out. Ran there yesterday to try the brisket and elite bbq sandwich which was delicious! I didn't eat in so I can only speak of the one sandwich I tried but I can say that I will be going back!

The food here was really good and affordable. The outdoor area was nice to sit in also, and the staff are VERY friendly!

This place did not disappoint at all. I came in during lunch and got the special, St. Louis ribs (half rack) that were pretty dang good. I also order the smash burger. I thought the burger would've been good without the pulled pork in it but still pretty good. And for the last I got the brisket w/o the bun. The sides I had were the coleslaw and cornbread that were amazing. The service was fast and the people taking the orders were nice and welcoming . Ambiance made it feel like you were at home.

1000000/10 experience! When you enter the restaurant, you order at the front and they bring the food to your table. They have indoor and outdoor seating (enclosed and heated in the cold). And their patio is dog friendly! The food was phenomenal and the service was very good.

There are many BBQ restaurants in the Cincinnati area, and Pig Candy BBQ is near the top of my list. Located in the California neighborhood, out by Riverbend Music Center, sits this cozy restaurant that occupies a former jail. All meats are smoked on site and served fresh with a wonderful selection of sides and some fun specialty items like a waffle sandwich or quesadilla. I think their Bama Turkey sandwich is top of the menu for me. It combines thick-sliced turkey, layered with tomato, onion, and dill pickles, with white sauce on the side ($10). The turkey is really good, and I like having some additional toppings on the sandwich rather than just coleslaw. Sides can be added for $4 and include the pickled onion and peppers, which are awesome. Another unique item is the Pig Mac Bowl, a bowl of mac and cheese, topped with pulled pork, red sauce, and slaw ($10). This is a full meal in a bowl, and there is no need to add a side to it. It's a really good option. The pulled pork sandwich is topped with white and gold sauces plus slaw on the side ($8). Plenty of meat is piled high on the butter toasted bun, and it's full of smoke plus very tender. A full kids' menu is available, plus local craft beer, hard seltzers, wine, and mimosas. It's a wonderful place to stop before a concert or even for Sunday brunch.

Update! Had Friday night to myself and was thinking about dinner. Almost settled on pizza but then it hit me, " I haven't been back to Pig Candy in a long time". I recalled my son and I trying it and having both the pulled pork sandwich as well as the brisket. Mmmmm! Decision made! Yeh it's a 30 min drive from just south of Fairfield, but well worth it! Had the brisket sandwich and green beans. The brisket is probably the best in Cincinnati. So, if you've got an itch for great pulled pork or brisket, Pig Candy is the place and well worth any drive. Definitely not going to wait so long next time!!

Top notch BBQ. Been in a handful of times and I have yet to be disppointed with the flavor and range of sauces. The staff is friendly and its an easy spot to get to on the east side. Plenty of parking behind the building in the lot and in front of the houses along the road. Somewhat limited seating inside, but head out back to the covered porch (they had outdoor heaters going on one of my visits in the late fall).

Loved this place!!! The service was amazing - kind, helpful, and fast. The inside and outside were clean and spacious. The food was really great! Meat was tender and flavorful. I really enjoyed the green beans and beans as a side. The red sauce was sweet and slightly spicy... and good on everything!

Every visit feels like a treat, but lately they've taken things up a notch with a lineup of signature cocktails. I tried the espresso martini, and it was outstanding--smooth, balanced, and the perfect complement to the bold, smoky flavors coming out of the kitchen. As for the food, it's consistently excellent. The dry rub wings are my go-to: perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of heat and flavor, and even better when paired with their bama white sauce. If you're leaning sandwich, you can't go wrong with a pulled pork or pulled chicken sammy topped with their Carolina gold sauce--it's tangy, slightly sweet, and completely addictive. And the fries? Thick-cut, crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside--exactly what great fries should be. Beyond the food and drinks, Lucius Q really shines as a place to gather. They have a fantastic event space that comfortably holds around 50 people--perfect for parties or private events. It's also one of the rare downtown spots with plenty of TVs, making it a great place to catch a game. Add in live music most Fridays and a great outdoor patio for those perfect Cincinnati weather days, and it's easy to see why this place is always buzzing. Lucius Q is one of those spots I simply can't walk past without slowing down and breathing it in. Whether you're a Pendleton regular or just passing through downtown Cincinnati, it's a must-visit that delivers every single time.

This place I was so impressed with. These businesses are the businesses that deserve to hold a special place in the world... firstly our food was delicious, it came out hot, presented well and was just perfect. Second our service was spectacular, we had Ron as our server he was a true gentleman friendly, attentive, and very experienced from what we could tell. The main host was very accommodating, at first we were sat in a spot we did not like we told him and he moved us to a perfect spot with no hesitation. Third the price was very fair and well worth what we paid. We have been to almost all of the "fine dining spots in Cincinnati, such as Capital Grille, Primavista, Precinct etc and this place by FAR provides the best dining experience in Cincinnati. If you are looking for an amazing meal, amazing service and you are in Cincinnati you better give this place a try. Very impressed and hope this place continues the service and food they provide for years to come and doesn't change.

$100 Food Poisoning…read more My husband was really wanting ribs and we had always heard good things about this restaurant. We didn't have a reservation but were seated pretty quickly on the heated patio upstairs. When we sat down, they instantly gave us our water and then we didn't see our waitress for about fifteen minutes. The waitress finally came and we went ahead and ordered our appetizers, drinks, and ribs all at same time because we didn't know when she'd be back (even told them no need to delay the entree to try to hurry things along). We waited quite a bit for our appetizers- about an hour. The couple next to us even left before they got their entrees and were very upset and spoke to the manager. We got the appetizers first- onion straws and the meatballs/grits. Meatballs were.... not good. Very very herby with an uncomplimentary sauce, grits were bland, but at least the onion straws were good. Ribs can out about 20 minutes later. We shared them and got mac as a side. Mac tasted very generic. We were very excited about the ribs but they were a let down. Sauce was very sweet and for price we paid I expected a bigger slab (we got the full slab). Went ahead and got our check while we were still eating so we could hurry home. Now, the real surprise came that evening. Husband got very very bad food poisoning- like the up all night kind. I'm not sure if it was his side of the ribs or the grits but it was BAD. Can't believe we paid over $100 for someone in the kitchen to not follow basic food safety protocol!! We will not be back! Money is better spent elsewhere!
