They also offer up daily specials which often manage to outshine the already great menu. Keep an eye on their Instagram for the daily specials. The restaurant itself is small but quite cozy. Got back to visit Pig Candy for lunch after first trying them out in a Yelp event earlier in the year. What I loved at that event still is true - the service is super friendly, the food is delicious and the building delivers unique ambiance that makes for an overall great experience. I had the brisket sandwich and was pleasantly surprised by the overall flavor and tenderness of the brisket. The cheddar grits were delicious. The weakest spot was the Mac and cheese. A little runny. I love that we got to try 2 with the order of a sandwich. The sides are a la cart and there are a lot to choose from! I loved the pulled pork sandwich - huge sandwich with the slaw and my favorite was the white sauce. The Mac was okay, the green beans were very good and so was the corn pudding! The portion size for the 2 meat plate was very underwhelming not worth the price of $19. The service is great! So let's talk about the brisket, it was not it! No bark or smoke to is at all. It was held in a pan that trapped the juices and it made it lose it texture and become mushy. The sausage was good but the size of a hot dog. When I think smoked sausage I am looking for something substantial. Which goes back to the reason why I say it was a small platter, kids size at best. I want better for this place. Pulled pork waffle, Mac n cheese, chili, BBQ quesadilla, cheddar grits, drinks, and more. Oh... and the buffalo chicken dip. We ordered and then ate out on their enclosed, heated patio outside. It was perfect. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and got the buffalo chicken dip as an appetizer. My family got the waffle, quesadilla, vegan goetta, grits, and corn pudding. But the dip immediately stole the show (before it even began). The dip came in less than five minutes. I dipped a single chip... and the rest is history. Must have item. The best buffalo chicken dip I've ever had. In less than ten minutes, all the food was on our table. The pulled pork sandwich, with the special red and white sauces, was revolutionary. Hint: mix both of them. The rest of the family loved each of their meals as well. The waffle was said to be even better than my sandwich. A waffle filled with pulled pork. I voiced my opinion on multiple issues with inconsistencies, I used to eat there quite often, probably at least 3 times a week. The manager came out and said that 80% of their complaints are from me and that I am frustrating their staff when I complain about things. Issues I've had here include: 1. Eye lash hairs in my soup. 2. I asked for extra crackers and a spoon for my soup and they left it out (multiple times) 3. Bowl of soup not filled to the top. If I'm paying $8 for a bowl of soup, I expect it to be filled. 4. Grilled cheese not cooked, leaving the cheese cold inside. 5. Left out condiments that I've asked for. So basically all the issues are with inconsistency. And I've nicely told them about my issues. I don't expect anything for free, but when I'm paying premium prices for food ($7 for 2 pieces of bread and some cheese, and $8 for a bowl of soup) I expect things to be done correctly, every single time. He said the eye lash hair was probably mine, which is incorrect. The hairs were there when I opened the bowl. People don't like to be called out for mistakes, but it's how you handle it and fix it, that's what matters. Coming up to me and saying that I'm 80% of their complaints is rude. I'm sorry that I'm not one to stay silence and I do not beat around the bush with things. If there's something I'm not happy with, I'm going to tell you, nicely, and straight to the point. Pig Candy is apparently known for their brisket, but since I don't eat beef, I decided on the pulled pock waffle and the pulled pork Mac and cheese. Both were very, very tasty. I especially loved the syrup that came with the waffle and the house made sauces. The pulled pork was "melt in your mouth perfect". I will say that the pulled pork Mac and cheese was a smaller portion than I anticipated and so I was glad I also decided to get the waffle to split with my husband. Delicious food and great service! My husband and I had dinner here yesterday evening and thought it was awesome. I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich with a side of Cowboy Beans. My husband had the special - Spare Ribs. He also ordered a side of Cowboy Beans and a couple cans of beer. Everything was delicious! Although, it was too much food for us. I think next time we will split the beans. The service is excellent. Both attentive and friendly. The back deck is a great place to feel the breeze from the Ohio River while having some great bbq. Which were moist, tender and meaty. We shared the extra large portions of sides: cheese grits, corn pudding, and cowboy beans. All of them had a 'home-made' quality and were yummy. I was so excited for this location to open! It is a really cool and historic space that has been beautifully remodeled in the up and coming California section of Cincy. It will eventually be a part of the Ohio river trail and they already have bike racks up in anticipation. Parking is on the side street next to the building. I ordered the smoked chicken salad sandwich. I am a picky fan of chicken salad and this was my favorite. The addition of the smoked chicken, not too heavy with mayo was amazing. The roll was good and the veggies were super fresh. For my sides I got the cheddar grits and cowboy beans. Both had excellent flavor and were a bit different of a twist on other local venues take on these. For dessert I got the chocolate chip banana pudding. This is a favorite item of mine so I have tried it at a ton of places, and this was the freshest and closest to truly homemade I have ever had. Pig Candy is indeed a hit.
