Delicious Pulled Pork and Baked Beans - so good it is ALL Gone!

Great pulled pork sandwich and the baked beans were delicious - loved the brisket mixed in. Sorry for the empty photo, but I couldn't help myself. Stop by and try this delicious barbecue- I loved the hickory barbecue sauce.

Local joint in a little strip, right next to Domino's. Not too spicy nor smoky for folks who like "home cooking". Neighborhood atmosphere.

Bee's BBQ was nearby & the right obvious choice. Located down a side street off the main drags - Madison & Whetzel - the small quirky storefront is really a 'hole in the wall' operation. Stepping into the place (don't hit your noggin on the door closer ) you'll find yourself standing in the lobby / counter area the size of a Russian golag prison cell. Get cozy with all the other customer / order placers because you'll literally be squeezed next to them like a sardine in a tin can. But none of this really matters because it's all about the experience right! You'll see the menu board - old fashion style - showing the offerings & its price. I got pulled pork & it was just $9. To make it even better.. you can get pickles and or onion put on it for FREE!! To make it even more crazy... I was told that a bag of Grippo's chips is tossed in as well. Who knew? That's all I feel like writing for now so call me if you want to know more

Go get it, while they've got it, because it won't last long!…read more Bee's consistently has got it going on! It's quite a drive for me, at 40 minutes, but it is worth every delicious bite. Over my visits there, I've had the brisket, ribs, baked beans, cornbread and a few other items. The ribs are fantastic. Juicy and seasoned to perfection. They're meaty and satisfying in every way. I have to say the same about the brisket. A good portion, sliced beautifully and tastes as good as it looks. Almost every BBQ joint can occasionally have a day where maybe the meat was left on the smoker 5 minutes too long. And anyone who knows smoked meats knows that minutes can make a big difference. I've not yet had that experience at Bee's. Now, this Bee's location is very unassuming. It's smack dab in the middle of a residential neighborhood and if you blink while driving down the street, you'll miss it. It has always amazed me how such a small place can bust out so much great food. There is no restaurant seating. It is a walk in with a simple counter right at the front entrance. They do have a number of picnic tables outside, so if the weather's nice, you can enjoy your food outside. If not, you'll probably have to take it home. And good luck getting all the way home without diving into the bag and eating in the car. It's nearly impossible to smell that delicious fog of smoked ecstasy that is permeating the fabric of your car without your mouth watering out of control. Go ahead and try it. Good luck with that. Here's my only negative thing with Bee's, and I must stress that this is merely a personal preference. I feel that their sauce falls a little flat. I do like my BBQ sauce to have a little kick, a little sweet and some tang with it. I've always found Bee's sauce to be just a little on the bland side. There's a catch to this though - the MEAT makes the meal. Good meat doesn't really need sauce. But, again as a personal preference, I do like a good BBQ sauce to compliment the meat. Would I go back? Let's just say that the 40 minute drive is actually healthy for me. If it was any closer, I am highly confident that I would have astronomical blood pressure and gridlocked arteries. No question. But I go back every single time that I'm in the area and also whenever I can't shake the thought of it. Pro Tip: Get there early and/or call ahead. Calling ahead may not always get you the results you need though. I have tried before and receive their voice mail. It's a small operation and, no doubt, they're busy slinging the golden meats of the Gods. You may also want to check their Facebook page for any announcements. There was at least one time that I tried to go and they were closed. They announced this closing on their website, but I hadn't thought ahead enough to check.

If I had not heard her glowing recommendations I doubt I would have ever stopped here. So, you may ask why would I not have stopped here. Well. Ron's is a food trailer in a business parking lot. It has one small picnic table outside. Just would not have caused me to pull over. Today I was over in that part of town running some errands and planned to stop at Ron's to try out the food. Great decision. I got the pulled pork sandwich ($5). It comes with cole slaw on top, but I had Ron put it on the side. Also, one of the other Yelp review recommended the potato salad ($2). Not that I am a big fan of potato salad, but figured I would give it a try. Ron makes his own barbeque sauce. It is a sweet sauce with a kick. The pulled pork sandwich was great. Meat had a good flavor and was very tender. I must say it was the best that I have had. The "suggestion" to go with the potato salad did not steer me wrong. It was very good. I also enjoyed the cole slaw. They have other items on the menu: hot dogs, metts, steak burgers, chicken, steak and ribs. Since the location is a little bit of a drive for me I figured I may as well get some ribs to go for later. I got a half slab ($12). These appear to be St. Louis type ribs; however, they were meatier than any other St. Louis ribs I have had. My half slab was 7 bones. He cut them apart. It is put on two slices of bread and covered with his special sauce. This was a lot of food for a half slab. As I said, they were very meaty. Ribs were tender and tasty. Excellent ribs. Bread came in hand to sop up the loose pieces of meat and sauce. When you go, and you really should, I would recommend trying both the ribs and pulled pork, so go hungry or bring a friend to share with or have some there and take some home for latter. Lastly, I need to comment on the environment. There is a sign out which says, "no loitering and no cursing". Let me just say while I was there I experienced and observed several interactions and all I can do to describe Ron as "very nice person and a true gentleman" and he really enjoys cooking great food. By the way he is closed on Monday's.

I've eaten my way through every smokehouse in Cincinnati, so when I say Midwest Best BBQ is the real deal, believe me. My arteries are practically Yelp-certified. The team of servers and cooks seems like they recruited an entire football team of young men from the University of Cincinnati; service so fast you'd think they were running a two-minute drill, attentive enough to make your mom jealous, and coordinated like they're protecting the quarterback only this time, the quarterback is your pulled-pork sandwich. Their wings, rubs, and sauces? Every single flavor profile was so good I nearly proposed to the coleslaw. And don't get me started on the G-Funk wings. They're delightful, though naming wings after a rap genre means you half expect Dr. Dre to hand you wet wipes. And let's talk about the smoking schedule. They've got a night smoker and a day smoker, which sounds less like a BBQ setup and more like a buddy-cop movie: "Day Smoker plays by the rules, Night Smoker breaks 'em, but together they deliver justice... in the form of brisket." Mark, one of the owners, literally smokes meat during a half-day shift with the love and passion of a Michelin-star chef who moonlights as Cupid. This guy makes ribs like he's serenading them. If Hallmark made a "Brisket Romance" channel, Mark would star in every single movie. I bought several pounds of meat to take home. Not "a pound." Several. Because nothing says "self-control" like hiding a bag of smoked chicken behind your kale in the fridge. Exclamation point. Period. Now, location... ...here's the kicker. They're hidden off the road over a hundred yards. That's right, it's the Area 51 of BBQ. You basically need Google Maps, a Sherpa, and divine intervention to find them. Yet, somehow, when you do, it feels like stumbling upon the Ark of the Covenant... ...only tastier, and fewer Nazis melting. Inside? Casual. TVs locked on Bengals or Reds games, so you can watch disappointment while you eat happiness. Patio? Shaded. Perfect for when you want to sweat from the hot sauce, not the sun. The sides? Top echelon. Beans, slaw, cornbread, each one a little sidekick to the main meat superhero. And for the low-carb crowd, this place is a protein paradise. Keto bros rejoice: you can bench-press your brisket guilt-free. Bottom line: Midwest Best BBQ doesn't just feed you, it baptizes you in smoke, sauce, and joy. And if you're not leaving with meat sweats, did you even go?

My friend and I shared a loaded fries, which was seasoned fries loaded with pulled pork, in-house cheddar cheese sauce, Four Mile Pig Original BBQ sauce, and parsley. For $11.95, we both thought it was a fair price and perfect portion size to share with our small appetites. The meat was tender and a good balance of smokiness and saltiness. The sauce was sweet but not too sweet. The only thing we would've changed was for there to be less cheese. The team answered questions, moved quickly, and were helpful and happy during each transaction I witnessed. The biggest disappointment were the brussel sprout as a side. Although the photo looked great, these were overcooked, very greasy, and overly sauced. I was hoping for a lighter side option, but these were quite heavy and weren't worth it. There was tons of meat on the pulled pork sandwich, it was definitely filling. I couldn't even finish everything since it was such a large portion. However, the pork tasted like they had added 'smoke' flavor instead of smoking it - the flavor was very charcoal and wasn't consistent through the sandwich. Yet, I thoroughly enjoyed the blackberry barbecue sauce - I would get that again and put it on something different.
