So glad to see this spot at the Lake Eola Farmer's Market! I ordered ribs with mac and cheese and collards and it did not disappoint. Plenty of food, I could have shared with someone but glad I didn't have to. The woman taking orders was friendly and the service was quick. We were looking for a local place, non chain and Smokey Jay's was nearby. It's tucked away in a shopping center, and it seems mostly to-go. But, we ate there and it was wonderful. My parents shared a plate of ribs (huge and tasty) and beans and peas side. They scarfed it up like I'd never seen before. I had a wonderful pulled pork plate with delicious creamy mac and cheese. My son ate a heaping loaded fries with seemingly everything. I didn't get a good look because he ate it too fast. Then we shared cornbread and realized it was good we didn't try the cornbread earlier because then we would have filled up on that. Friendly family running the place. Checked in on us often, and were great. We missed out on the pound cake and red velvet. Next time, I suppose. read more

The pork ribs plus the yams and mac combo were so buss. This place is insane and the prices aren't bad. Also need that red velvet cake. so creamy and melts in your mouth. I was looking for a soulfood/BBQ in the East side of Orlando and they came up in the search. It's a quaint location tucked inside of a strip mall. When I was greeted with friendly smiles and service. First off...never go to a restaurant hungry after a day of errands. I ordered ribs/chicken combo, wings, fried orka, lima beans and key lime cake. The food is REAL good and everything is homemade (cakes made by the owner's mother). The only thing for me was that the orka and beans had a little too much salt for my liking. Overall the food was really good. The staff are super friendly and I'll be back to try more items on the menu. I'm glad there's some restaurant diversity coming to the East side of Orlando. read more

Best BBQ I've ever had since Warsaw bbq and soul food closed down. Ribs are massive and taste amazing, pulled pork sandwich was juicy and tasted amazing, Mac and cheese actually tasted like real cheese, and the baked beans were so damn good that I'd be willing to pay double for those to be honest. The guy is super nice and apparently his mom makes the desserts so I will be going back to try everything on the menu. I'd be one fat sob if this place were on my drive home. read more

Lovely little quaint restaurant. Perfect place for family to eat. Nice, open clean space. The service was excellent, the owners were welcoming and very nice. The food was so delicious, I tried the chicken, ribs, and pull pork. All of the meats were juicy and well seasoned. I couldn't leave without tasting a dessert. The key lime cake and red velvet! Swung by for lunch, had the ribs and brisket. Very good portion on both. The ribs were tender and not too rough. The brisket flavor was good but it is served chopped instead of sliced due to it normally being on a roll. Overall good quality bbq.! read more

Hands down the best bbq in East Orlando. Huge portions and the bbq sauce is to die for. We loved everything we ate, and the owners make you feel like family. They are located off of Colonial Drive in East Orlando and also have a food truck on Sundays at Lake Eola off of Washington Street. Y'all really need to check them out. I apologize to Jay because I promised to write this review a while back but life happened. Sorry Jay, better late than never. My wife and I were on the east side of Orlando where we typically aren't and were looking for a place to grab a bite. Our search lad us to Smokey Jay's and we are glad it did. We walked in and were greeted by Jay's smiling face. We chatted a little while we reviewed the menu and decided to both try the brisket sandwich. The brisket was nicely flavored and lean. The BBQ beans were tasty but the field peas were the better side. The price was very reasonable to the meal and Jay couldn't have been any nicer. We will definitely stop in the next time we find ourselves on the east side of Orlando. read more

Best Barbecue in Orlando hands-down! Such a hidden gem! We went for lunch and had the beef brisket, barbecue chicken, smoked sausage, and ribs. Everything was absolutely delicious and fresh! And not to mention went perfect with the mustard based barbecue sauce! The ribs were tender and perfectly seasoned. The briskets were in chunks, but was very tender also! We also had sides of mac and cheese, bbq beans, yams, collars greens, and corn bread! Everything was delicious and homemade. The beans had a hint of cinnamon which added a unique flavor to it. such great bbq had to try some after passing their stand at the lake eola market because it smelled so great. The gentleman that took my order was supperrr nice. Let me preface this by saying I went in 9 minutes to closing and I am VERY PICKY. Okay, so boom. I go into Smokey Jays based on the reviews. Everyone says food is good so, I decided to try it out. The workers ( and I think the owner) were very friendly. 3 ribs will run you $14. I understand this is a small business so, I paid the price. Is your want to add on to sides, it's going to run you an extra $5. At the end of the day, I spent $19 for my meal. I couldn't place my finger on the flavor of the Mac and cheese but I didn't really get a lot of cheese, more so breadcrumbs and possibly chicken bouillon? The beans were pretty tasty but it did kind of remind me of pork and beans. My ribs were very, very tough. This was very disheartening given the price. Again, I came in almost at closing so I'm not going to hold it against the establishment. I would try them out again to see if I had a different experience read more

Stumbled across Smokey Jay's BBQ at Lake Eola and it was a fantastic find! This is a legit Southern BBQ with many great tasting items to choose from. Recently they opened a storefront location on East Colonial near 417. The food and atmosphere in the new location did not disappoint. Tried this spot for the first time today. Got a half rack of ribs with smiley bbq sauce and max n cheese to go. I love a few miles away and it was all gone before I even got home. The ribs were cooked perfectly and the bbq sauce wasn't over spiced it just had some kick. A spoilt delicious and will 100% be going back. Thank yo I guys for a great bbq experience. read more

Was looking for a fire pit BBQ while in Orlando. This place was Fantastic!!! Ribs smoke with nice bark and smoke ring. Wasn't to soft where it fell off the bone but bit off the bone. just the way i like them. Mac & Cheese and coleslaw was really good. only thing missing was slice brisket. Accidentally came across this place but it is amazing. The smoked chicken was perfect and not dry at all. The brisket was a perfect mix of moist and lean. My husband and I started devouring our food from the first bite and almost forgot to take pictures before. It was absolutely amazing. The service was great and we even ended up getting a half of chicken to go. If you see that smoker make a u-turn and get on in cause they sell out fast! read more

There were 3 or 4 types of beans in it and it was incredibly hard to not gobble them all down instead of saving some for my hubby to try at home. My friend had the cornbread casserole which she said is her favorite side after the beans (I'm GF so I couldn't have that but I wanted to!). Another friend had the Bbq brisket sandwich with potato salad and she said the potato salad was really tasty. Just so you know - this is a very small restaurant. No inside seating, just picnic tables outside. (Some are shaded.) There is an area outside to wash your hands after eating and you can download their app and order online which gets you $5 off your meal (that's a good deal) but even without a discount, the food is worth every penny and the portions are generous.

The front staff remembers us every time we go. I am obsessed with the herbal and spicy hot pot, so I usually have them make it 50/50 mix. The vegetables are fresh and there's a wide selection of meats and seafood. I also like to make my dipping sauce with the garlic sauce blend. My favorite is the Galbi which is seasoned well. Both savory and sweet. Another obsession is the asago dessert which is a tapioca pearls, black beans, fruits and jelly in a sweet coconut milk. I really enjoy going here since it's a good alternative to other AYCE in the surrounding vicinity because of the better quality. I want to see this place get more traffic because it's hidden in the old JoAnn's shopping center next to Aldi. There's plenty of parking in the commercial lot.

You can pick one or add the other for only $5 more. They have a good selection of meats, veggies, and others. The app selection isn't my favorite compared to other restaurants but still varied. And the sauce bar is always stocked. If you're hungry, this is the place to go!

I probably wouldn't return unless I couldn't get bbq elsewhere.
