We were greeted I asked for a table. The hostess asked if a half booth/half table was acceptable and we agreed. We were taken to our table and seated. The hostess chatted with us about the window and proceeds to walk away without taking our drink order. We sat for nearly 10 minutes without being acknowledged. We could audibly hear someone in the back say the grill was broken. After no acknowledgement after 10 minutes we got up and left. The hostess told us to have a great evening. Really? There were maybe 10 patrons in the whole place and people standing around at the hostess station. No matter, we went to Dickey's and got better BBQ for less money. Update review:I went back to Smokey bones about 2 weeks ago and it was a lot better. The waiter for my table was A LOT better and the food was good. I got the street tacos (I believe that's what the tacos were called) and the taste was unique (in a good way) and they were reasonably price. Ordered Wing Experience through DoorDash, which is provided by Smokey Bones. Wings were so burnt that the appeared to be dry-rubbed. Additionally, none of the sauces that we're ordered had been provided. Contacted Smokey Bones in hopes of having the wings remade, and was promptly told that DoorDash had to handle the issue and that they would not remake the food. Smokey Bones passed the buck to DoorDash for inferior product unapologetically. Clearly, Smokey Bones has no pride whatsoever in the quality of the food they produce, and I will make sure to say as much to anyone willing to listen in the future. read more

Great place to come with a big group of people since they have plenty of room and tables to accommodate big groups. I came here for a holiday dinner. The server was nice and the food was decent. They have sauces on the table for your food but I didn't really like any of them except the blue one. I had the pulled pork with a baked potato and broccoli. The price was decent and the pork was good although my friend complained that her pulled pork sandwich was dry. Overall, a decent place to grab a bite to eat but nothing stood out as extraordinary so it probably wouldn't be my first choice. read more

When I arrived, I was given a time of 30-40 minutes before being seated & was instructed to sit in my car & wait to be called. Gladly accepted & returned to my car only for 45 minutes to pass & still no call. I then called, gave my name & asked how much longer & was told ANOTHER 30-40 minutes. Now I do understand COVID plays a major factor in seating & service times but please give me the privilege ahead of time of knowing how long it will take for me to be seated. I left & went to another restaurant without notifying the restaurant just to see how much longer it would take & from my second phone call, it was an additional 40 minutes so now a 1.5 hour wait when I was originally told 30 minutes. These have got to be the best tasting ribs I have ever had and with a selection of about 5 different sauces to put on them puts them over the top. I chose the spicier chipotle sauce that brought these wings and ribs over the top of other places I have had. Definitely ribs gone right here. Keep up the good work. I made a pretty simple order for 3 desserts (2 of them come in premade) around 9:30-9:45pm tonight through DoorDash for my Birthday. Through absolutely NO FAULT of DoorDash, Smokey Bones handed my order off to some random other delivery person (so they say). When my Dasher called me to inform me of this mishap, he got in contact with DoorDash which of course tried to get them to remake my order. Apparently this was too much hassle to correct a mistake that they made. They flat out told DoorDash that they had no interest remaking my order that they wrongfully gave to somebody else. Unbelievable. It would be one thing if I ordered at 12:30 am when they close at 1am. But this all happened at 10:30pm. Plenty of time before they close. I'm very disappointed in their service. Message to management: Teach some personal accountability. It will do a lot of good for this particular location it would seem. P.S. If I could give rate zero stars, I absolutely would. read more

Well, place is probably known for BBQ and meat, but I got the salmon. Very good choice. Done just right, as a few places I've had salmon, it seemed under cooked. Got the dirty rice and broccoli for sides. The rice had corn and the usual spices but also sausage, which I'd not seen before. Really good that way. A glass of Prosecco and I was set. Waitress was just right, stopping by at the right time and just frequent enough. A good dinner after a long day. read more

Was quoted a hour wait time when we got there. The people after us put their name in and tipped the host 15$ and got seated right away. I should of taken this as a sign and just left right after. Once we were seated the table still needed wiped down. We told our server about this twice and she said she would get someone to wipe it off even though the cleaner bottle was 2 steps away from her at the micro computer she put our order in at. I ordered a side salad with my meal, that ended up coming with it because I never got it beforehand. The meat was mediocre and my baked potato wasn't cooked. The worst service i have ever received. we walked in around 8pm and there was probably 10 tables in the entire restaurant so they were not busy. we walked in and a waitress told the host to wait to seat us because there was a lot of food in the window that needed to be taken out. my boyfriend and i agreed to wait but we weren't sure why a lot of food being in the kitchen window had anything to do with us being sat at a table instead of standing in the waiting area. after we were finally sat at a table (10 minutes later) we were all excited to eat because we haven't been to smokey bones in a long time. to sum up the experience we waited at our table for about 25 minutes before we decided to get up and leave. we never had a server great us or bring us drinks. there was one waitress that walked past our table about four times and never asked us if we were helped. terrible customer service! and after reading the reviews about the food being terrible and service sucking, i'm glad we decided to go to Sakura express down the road instead. coming from a waitress at texas roadhouse, this is absolutely mind blowing to me and would never happen at my restaurant. now i understand why our restaurant is so busy, cheaper prices, better food, and better customer service. read more

Wife got the smokehouse chicken sandwich with a salad and slaw which did not disappoint. On to my selection...... I've been a brisket snob all my life as my mother made the best however so nice she passed 5 years ago the brisket void is there! I chose the pick 2 with the 2 sides. Brisket and jalapeño cheddar sausage with potato wedges and slaw. The wedges seemed like they were hand cut and fresh in house made, very well prepared. The sausage was good, probably would have liked it better as the "corn dog" meal but still was good. The brisket had a nice Smokey tone to it, was pull apart tender and was not dry. I am a big fan of the Smokey Bones in Woodbridge Va (back home). So I was extremely disappointed by my experience at their Maumee, Oh restaurant while passing thru town. Our table was sticky from the previous guests and the waitress couldn't be bothered to get it wiped down for us. I ordered a Moscow Mule while I waited for the table wipe - she brought a tin with lemon juice and some type of clear alcohol (not vodka and no ginger beer). When I complained. She looked at me like I was personally insulting her. I ordered a different drink - switching to a rum cocktail. Again, this was made wrong. It was fruit juice with some type of alcohol made to appear to be rum. Everyone knows they substitute their liquor in New Orleans - serving cheap flavored moonshine while charging for top shelf. But I never expected this in a Smokey Bones or in Ohio. Someone needs to drop a dime with the Ohio liquor authority. Either the manager or bartender are substituting their booze. The girlfriend and I went late on a Friday night, she ordered a six ounce steak with corn and mashed potatoes. I ordered the smoked wings in buffalo sauce and two tall bud lights. The food was fantastic, amazing wings considering this is not a wing place. I had a bite of the steak and it was tender, juicy and perfectly medium rare. My husband and I have been here 3x in the last 4yrs. The first 2 times were good. This time was horrible. The server was very rushed and rushed us. We got the bacon as an appetizer. It was so cold. Like refrigerator cold. It had the white grease on it like when grease sits in the cold too long. The server didn't come back until she brought our food so I couldn't ask her to warm them up. So we are 2.5 pieces out of 4 that cost around $11. I got the ribs and chicken with mashed potatoes and corn. The chicken was good, hardly any sauce and the sides were good. I got the baby back ribs because they usually have like no fat on them. These had more fat on them than I've ever seen on ribs. Literally had one bite of meat. My husband got fried wings with fries. The wings had the strangest smell but we thought maybe it was just the oil needed changed. He got the sweet brown sugar sauce. It was supposed to be sweet. It was spicy and it tasted of so much cumin, if you closed your eyes you would think you were eating thickened taco sauce. My husband put ketchup on them to try to mask the taste so he could eat them but it was too much. He could only eat 3. The server checked on us once and she did it so quickly as she was walking you couldn't tell who she was even talking to. I was so irritated that when she came to ask if we needed boxes I just said "absolutely not. This meal was horrible." She said "oh really?" In a condescending tone.So she had the manager come over and he asked if we wanted anything different and suggested different wings (smoked with sauce on the side) to my husband and he got them to go and took $20 off of our bill. My friend recently ordered catering to go and told me what a positive experience she had. So, when I needed a good meal for 12 people, I ordered the Party Pak online. It was GREAT! Everyone loved it. Easy to serve, easy to clean up, pleased everyone. We got the brisket, pulled chicken, and traditional wings, with Cole slaw and beans as sides. All delicious! Leftovers were good, too! I chose delivery, but that was pretty expensive, so I'll pick up next time. The order was perfect when it arrived, and it was about 20 minutes early. What a great find in Smokey Bones! read more

Stopped here on my way to Columbus and had lunch. We were seated quickly and orders taken in record time. I ordered the Stacked Baked Potato & Salad, my friend ordered the fish and chips; we decided to split the entrees. The potato was well cooked, and piled high with all the goodies that you expect on a potato and pulled pork! Oh my goodness. This was really, really good. Stopped here for lunch while on the road. I went to the restroom while my husband ordered our lunch. Based on the conditions I found in the ladies restroom, I would have passed on eating here. First, the sweet, sickening smell of bathroom deodorizer hits you before you even open the entry door. Then the dark, dingy pink metal stalls with broken locks, shabbily replace with hardware. One toilet was busy continuously flushing. There were two sinks, only one was operational. Empty towel dispenser. Instead of placing paper towels to use for drying your hands, there were stacks of dinner napkins on the sink. Well, those dissolve instantly when wet hands hit them. I walked hoping to stop our lunch order, but I was too late. Thankfully we had an average meal, but I couldn't erase my bathroom experience. Based on other reviews, this seems like a mixed bag, depending on the night they're having. Personally my experiences have been positive, though service can be a bit spotty later at night, and if you arrive after 11PM, they're often out of many of the entrees. That said, I like good beer, and they usually have a good selection on tap. Their house "Bones Brew" is actually pretty good too, kind of an Irish red ale. Their sides have never disappointed, and the baby back ribs are probably the best I've had. No need to pick them up or use a knife--the generous portions of tender meat was literally falling off the bone. Good BBQ sauces too. I was taken out for "authentic Texas BBQ" when I was down in the Austin area, and it was only about a tenth as good as Smokey Bones. The prime rib is also good, if they're not out of it, as is the chicken. Prices are a bit high, though portions are fair. Deducting one star for the prices and occasional odd service experiences. read more
