We never had the opportunity to eat here today. They weren't busy, a half full restaurant, yet they were on a wait. So this tells me they didn't have enough servers working or the hostesses dont know how to seat people. We decided to sit at the bar for a quick lunch. We sat, grabbed our own menus. No one acknowledged us, they were there but not taking care of guest. The guest that did have food or drinks had empty plates and empty glasses in front of them. I am not sure how long Smokey Bones expects you to wait for someone to greet you, but this was crazy. After we decided it was way too long to be greeted, we felt that waiting for food would even be worse. We ended up at another place across the street and had great service and a good meal. Food and service are the two main factors for a restaurant business. Smokey Bones failed at one today, and we will never know about the food. So sad. read more

I've tried Smokey Bones twice now, and come away completely disappointed both times. I love BBQ, but found the ribs to be pretty unspectacular. Second time I tried the turkey. Portion size was small, very dry, just blah... We also got it carryout once, and it too was awful. I was told 30 minutes, arrived on time, and proceeded to wait another 40 minutes! I asked to speak to a manager, who apologized but did nothing else. Nothing off the bill, no money off a next visit, nothing. Got it home and everyone's food was cold. Unbelievable! I went to Smokey Bones for a birthday dinner. I was the first to put my order in, and I never received my order. Out of 25 people in our party, everyone was almost done eating so I asked the server about my order. She replied, "I forgot to ring it in. Well do you still want it?" My 8 year old daughter was starving at this point and the dinner was almost over. I felt I needed to be accommodated for her mistake. The manager was not compassionate nor understanding, yet said he'd take the wings off for my inconvenience. The wings were NOT taken off when I received my bill, only a $10 discount. The server proceeds to follow me around asking was I going to pay it as we were taking pictures at the end of the dinner. I'm not one to DINE AND DASH, or STEAL.. I usually don't even make a big fuss about food if I don't like it, I just don't return. This was different and the staff was NOT friendly. I said I would pay the total because it truly was NOT about the money, it was about the service and treatment. The manager rings me out instead INSISTING on giving this $10 discount. Okay, cool. I left $0 tip because it was poor service. When I checked my statement this morning I was charged full price. Go figure. Highly DO NOT RECOMMEND this place. I came here with eleven others for a friend's birthday celebration. I ordered the Nutty Chicken Salad with grilled chicken. I would give this dish a 4 out of 5 stars. Quality ingredients but the ratios were off. There were not enough greens for the amount of pecans and goat cheese in the salad. My boyfriend ordered the Loaded BBQ Burger with fries. He said it was flavorful and enjoyed the different textures (patty, pulled pork & onion ring), but nothing he would go out of his way to get. They were very skimpy with the amount of pulled pork in the burger...it wasn't as "loaded" as the name would suggest. The fries were just okay. Cost is about what you would expect for a restaurant like this. Our dishes were about $10 each. Service was mediocre. The waitress never refilled my water and my boyfriend had to ask several times for more iced tea. Refills should never be a problem in restaurants, especially when there aren't many other patrons. We probably won't come back unless someone else suggests it. Food was acceptable but if we were to dine out, we would choose a place with better service. read more

It's not often that I'm satisfied with restaurants in random small towns in Northern Ohio, so when I happened to come here with my wife, her sister and dad for a pre-Christmas eve meal, I wasn't expecting much. Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed this culinary experience! Maybe it was because I came in with lowered expectations, but I think it was their delicious sauces that got me. BBQ is something I can always eat since it's dairy-free. This place does it very well. With a name like "Smokey Bones", it had better, am I right? I ordered a grilled chicken breast and some veggies sides. My portions were unimpressive to the eyes, but just enough for my stomach. Other dishes ordered were the cornbread and fried pickle slices as apps (very tasty pickles!), a cheeseburger, a full slab of ribs with mashed potatoes and corn, and a grilled chicken salad. I got to try a little bit of all of it and it was wonderful! Their three table sauces were quite yummy. The next time I'm in northern Ohio, I'd definitely come back here. Boo yah! read more

Smokey Bones is a chain restaurant that currently seems to be undergoing a bit of an identity crisis... it used to almost have a "rustic lodge" feel, but currently is sporting unattractive chalk-drawings in garish colors and pictures of seductive sexpots on its menu. I think this is to give it more the "pit dive\sports bar" feel, but I liked the old atmosphere better, myself... Whatever the case, they always have had little speakers on the tables which you can tune to whatever TV you choose (or just leave it off), which is a nice idea. I'm not sure how well it works in practice since I usually come here with family and want to talk, though. Anyways, the specialty here is BBQ, which is served in a variety of ways and flavors, my favorite being the BBQ chicken. Done right, you get crispy skin and tender meat to which you can add more sauce if you like. My last visit, though, I got a simple pulled pork sandwich which was pretty good. As is usual for the pulled meats at SB, the pork itself was a bit dry. The taste is alright, though, when paired with a choice of BBQ sauce. These are located on the table in a holder. You might consider using a napkin to hold the little pitcher as they tend to be sticky. Alas, such is the nature of BBQ sauce and BBQ joints. Other items I like are the cornbread and doughnuts. The cornbread is served as an appetizer though you probably could eat it for dessert if you apply enough of the honey-pecan butter. The flavor and texture are smooth and mild (none of the baking soda tang or grittiness you get in a lot of cornbread), and the size is large - great for sharing. ...honestly, it's more like cake than cornbread. The doughnuts, meanwhile, are served with cinnamon sugar in a paper bag which the server shakes at your table. They come with chocolate and strawberry dipping sauces, but taste fine by themselves. The best part is the soft, doughy cake-doughnut texture. SB also offers salads and BBQ baked potatoes - my dining companion spoke well of the latter. Currently they are also pushing build-your-own burgers ....Again, this is to enhance the "sports bar feel" I assume. Personally, I think it's a bit weird ordering a burger at a BBQ joint - kinda like ordering steak at a seafood restaurant - but I'm sure they're quite good. They certainly have some interesting looking toppings (pepper bacon and BBQ onions could be quite tasty...) Service can vary, of course, but normally it's quite good to excellent. The server on the last visit was of the latter category, and aside from being friendly and helpful also went out of her way with the coupons we had to ensure maximum savings. Saving money always tastes good, esp. considering the cost. To be perfectly fair, prices at SB are on par with a lot of the sit-down BBQ joints I've been to - around $12~14 for most platters, ribs around $17~20, and sandwiches between $7~10. Note, though, that SB also puts out a lot of coupons, including some $10 off $20, so grab a friend and split the cost. ....or order a full rack of ribs and get them half off. One other thing - SB does a pretty good job for big groups if the table-loads of families that always seem to be there indicate. I only ever go with a party of four at most, but it's a place to keep in mind if you get stuck hosting the family reunion... They do takeout too, even for up to 100 people. Was happy to see they were open on Easter since I had kids to feed and no food in the fridge and all the grocery stores are closed but honestly maybe Smokey Bones should have closed as well because it was obvious nothing had been made fresh today. We got carryout and when it got home I realized none of the sandwiches had bbq sauce, the tacos had no toppings and the butter wasn't included with the cornbread. Called and husband went back to get missing items, when he came home the butter was still missing and the sandwich they made over again was made wrong. All the food was greasy to the touch and the corn bread was so rubbery and hard it was difficult to cut into. Really gross over all. I wasted over $60. read more

Not only was the service bad, but when I received my credit card charge I was OVER CHARGED for the tip. I had left a 20% tip even though we were really not happy with the service, only because I know that this job is tough. But when I looked at my credit card statement it was DOUBLED! I called the restaurant and asked that they please take care of this and was assured that they would. I sent my receipt over to them via email, and nothing was done. I called back several times and was put through to voice mail. I left messages each time, but nothing was done. What a terrible way to run a business. If this was a mistake, fine - then just fix it, if this was deliberate - then the person should have been fired, and my account still should have been fixed, but nothing. Not even a courtesy email saying that it was being worked on. We will never go there again, and I hope that others see this as well. read more

I wish I could offer something less then 1 star. I had a terrible experience in person when I had several employees just stare at me while I was waiting to check in or be seated. Offered no assistance or let the host / hostess know people where in line. After 25 minutes I left. I decided maybe it was an off night. I tried to order through door dash. And after 30 minutes of waiting for them to confirm the order I decided it was a lost cause. Wow! This place really needs to consider looking for all new staff. I work across the street so came over to grab a quick beer and possibly get a bite. I walk in some girl behind the bar states at me doesn't greet me and walks away. Then some guy finally comes and starts calling ma'am and it was offensive because it made me feel old. Then I asked about the bones brew. He didn't know what it was like. So then he says get a goose ipa and I said it wasn't strong enough. He insists it's 61/2 percent and it 4. Then asked what me and boyfriend were up to that night. I said dude I'm tired we are going to sleep, just got off work and will do it all over again. He then said ugh sounds like you guys have a boring life. Wtf? Way kid mentality to have kids behind a bar full of decent booze that he knows nothing about because he's to young to even drink. Horrible customer service. Not a lot to ask for a company that asks 20 bucks for a burger. What a dissapoinment because j wanted to come back everyday after work. If you like to sit down and have a few drinks with some friends, here is a place to do it. They have a large drink selection and some of the best margaritas in town. Applebee's meets Mancy's here, the American grill meets Mancy's quality and great decor. I even saw hip-hop star Busta Rhymes pull up to this oversized log cabin. The service is friendly, and usually short to no waiting. I usually don't eat pork besides some baby back ribs, but the pulled pork sandwich is what I always get. Smokey Bones is a perfect place to grab a bite of BBQ. The interior is reminicent of a log cabin that contains many TVs (for the sports fans) and each table has its own speaker to tune into the TV of choice. Moving on to the food...it was pretty decent. The pulled pork was very good and the rest was pretty standard (I was a fan of the corn side dish). I've been there a few times and each visit I had good, prompt service and pretty decent meal to go along with it. If you focus more on your food then entertainment when you go out to a restaurant, I would point you to Mancy's restaurant, Shorty's. read more

I rarely give a poor rating but this needs to be said. I tried Smokey Bones for the first time because of a craving for barbecue. I was not impressed. I ate alone since I am out of town on business. Usually places will speed things up when you are by yourself. I waited a little bit of time to be waited on but not bad. The waits kept getting longer and the place was mostly empty. The longest wait was after I ordered and after my salad. I thought they forgot about me. Then I got my dinner, I was less than impressed with the pulled pork(dry and it seemed they gave me mostly the crusty outside scraps). The wings were just ok. The beans were mediocre also. I would of left a 1/2 star if possible. First off our server Brennan was the best experience at this so called BBQ pit, with pit being the main word. Prepackaged frozen pre formed burgers drier than a bag of concrete. BBQ ribs that I'm almost certain were also pure frozen and then heated up on a wanna be grill slathered in sauce to cover the taste of the jerkey underneath. "Cast Iron pan cornbread " that was bread heated in microwave before being put in a clean cold pan and served with butter for $7.50. Also a mushroom Swiss burger usually comes with mushrooms... right??? Not here evidently. Frito pie was a bag of Frito's dumped in a bowl with 3 pieces of some type of meat put on, with 10 pinto beans, a squirt of sour cream, and a sprinkling of cheddar cheese topped with a half bottle of jalapeños... $9.00. Total: 2 adults 1 child: $76 worth of crap. Straight out of mask mandate and Covid you would of thought food would have been good or hot, should of just ordered Doordash and Arby's. Did a take out order and none of the order was right. I had a Turkey burger that was mushy and seemed like it came out of a microwave. And came with 5 fries. It's been a while since we've been to this location. the last time we went, we took advantage of their all you can eat wings. Let me tell you it was a horrible experience. Every round of the all you can eat wings got worse by the round. No one made it past around three and by round two...We all have sinned wings back because they were undercooked. Round three was the worst round it was as if they took the wings out of the bag put sauce on them and deliver them to our table. I've never been back since that day. read more

Smokey's used to have a few of the best bartenders around about 2 years ago (i.e. Nev & Sam) ...but ever since they changed their format to staying open later for bar goers, they ironically have come down on the quality of bar staff. makes no sense, So we just stopped going since its simply no longer a fun place. Do not get the steak. It was served cold, not cooked correctly, and was full of nasty gristle, one of the worst cuts of meat I have ever had eating out. My husband's brisket was cold. We had already eaten over half our meals, and our friends were finished eating, before manager came to check on us. (Note I said manager; our waitress was no where to be found after taking our orders. Never asked about more drinks, desserts, etc.) Manager asked if we wanted new meat, but our friends were ready to go because we were seated near a baby that screamed THROUGH THE WHOLE MEAL and waitress had refused to move us. Went last night with husband & daughter. Was a little later in evening, so there were few other patrons & host had to be both greeter and server. They seemed a little frazzled, but service was still great. Everything was quick and pleasant; the food came out hot & the drinks were quick &b cold. We started with an appetizer sampler which had loaded fries, onion rings, chicken tenders & nachos. Then husband had the pick 3 bbq platter with smoked wings, 1/4 chicken, & ribs. kiddo got babyback ribs & I got pulled pork. Our sides were a salad, roasted corn, cinnamon apples, baked potato, & mac n cheese--all of our entrees came with 2 sides. Everything tasted wonderful & we had a lot to bring home! Definitely going back next time we're in the mood for bbq If you haven't been they're not the same as other bbq chains...Here are the differences between them and others: While many bbq type places only have 2 sauces (regular & a spicy) and the basic staples of Brisket, pork, ribs & chicken SB had 4 sauces (KC, chipotle, georgia mustard & carolina mopping) and salmon, smoked chicken wings and sausage. Great service and Great food. Their baby back ribs and pulled pork were outstanding. There was a ton of flavor but cooked perfectly. I also had their baked potatoes and broccoli as a side and everything was a great match. There were a lot of draft beer options as well. I went with the sams adams ale and it ended up being the icing on the cake. Well worth the price... as long as you can afford it. The only down part was the price was a little bight but at the end of the day the food was worth it. read more
