Smokey Bones was a mixed bag for us. We came on a Saturday at 6 and the place was deserted, which is never a good sign. The service was really good throughout. I really enjoyed the pulled pork. It had a nice flavor and I love that the sauces are on the side so that I can control the sauce and actually taste the meat. I got the steamed broccoli as a side and it was awful - it had been cooked to mush and then cooked some more. Seriously, they should have been embarrassed to serve it, it was that bad. The mashed potatoes tasted instant. One person in our group got ribs and he said they were good, but he got a side of coleslaw that was basically a bowl of dressing with a few shreds of cabbage - so gross. A couple of people got entree salads with chicken and they said the salads were pretty good. We also got a couple bags of their hot doughnuts for dessert which were great, but is there any way hot doughnuts could be bad? Hmm...what to say! First off, the service was amazing. Our server was helpful and always on top of things, So service is not a problem at all here. The alcohol was good too, and reasonable prices. The food on the other hand was another thing. The food was dry and just honestly run-of-the-mill, nothing special. I wish I could give this place a -10, ordered there steak tacos, mind you this is a 12 dollar dish for 3 tacos. Where do I start?!?! Came here for dinner and although this was not my first time at Smokey Bones, it was just as amazing as my first experience. The location is great if you are coming from shopping and need a place to grab some BBQ. Right from the start we were greeted at the door and seated. It was pretty busy but still plenty of seating. Our server Lindsay was on point, she kept checking in with us and made sure our drinks were never low. The food was amazing. Everything come out quickly. I had the buffalo chicken dip with chips, corn bread, bbq ribs, wings, mash and baked beans. It's a lot that comes with what you are getting. Got full and had to take the rest to go. Horrible host. Came in with a large group and was told 15 minutes, while waiting multiple groups walked in after us and were sat with no issue. Had lunch here and ordered the smoked chicken wings and the bag of doughnuts. The wings were meaty but a little salty. I could tell that the cook sprinkled some seasoning on after the wings were plated so I'm not sure if that attributed to the saltiness. We both ordered the 18pc wings and didn't finish them. My wife and I and my son decided to stop in one day when we were shopping we haven't been there in a while so we thought what the heck let's try it. We set down in our booth and service was a little slow. Really wasn't crowded it was just slow. Our waitress whose name was Danny she couldn't have been more pleasant and nice. She was brand new so she was a little bit overwhelmed but nobody wanted to help her. I ordered the three Trio which was supposed to be pulled pork barbecue chicken breast and some ribs what I got was a chicken a whole chicken pulled pork barbecue mashed potatoes and corn. Went in for the first time to have dinner. Staff was very prompt and helpful. Offered suggestions on the menu and everything we had was great! The store manager came out to check on our food and service and she was very polite and comforting, seeing as how we'd never been there before. The food , staff and management were all amazing and WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK AGAIN! It was s great change up from the normal restaurants we eat at in that area! Sometimes there is a small wait, but most of the times is pretty fine and good. At 7:30 on a Friday night, the Brunswick Stew needed help. Watery too- sweet tomato soup with gristly meat is what was served. Was looking for a nice smokey chile, but nothing like that is offered on menu. Full rack of baby backs were dry and very spare, but my group agreed the flavor was good. Same went for the wings which were tough to chew. We were able to order nachos with cheese on side which was good for those with dairy sensitivity. Coleslaw and baked potatos were very good, but burgers were just so-so according to the three who ate them. The only salad served had brown lettuce. Restaurant was comfortable for our party of six and the decorative wood on walls helped contain restaurant noise which happily made conversation easy and the average to poorly prepared food less important. read more

Went here for Mother's day last night and we were seated right away. But, upon being seated, we were not even acknowledged for almost 10 minutes. Two waitresses continued to pass us by over and over until we said forget it and we went and sat at the empty bar so we could be served. Another table was even seated almost right next to us, after us, and a waitress began serving them instead of us. I guess the server's in that section didn't need tips or were independently wealthy and could do without our money. Once we got to the bar though, everything went pretty well after that. The food was a B+ and the service was acceptable. Not sure that I will be going back here anytime soon unless it is for carryout with a coupon. read more

My first time at a Smokey Bones. I had a cheeseburger, which was probably the best cheeseburger I've had in months.

This was not our first time at Smokey Bones and the food has been good overall but by far this was our worst meal ever. Ordering the lunch special of the Stacked Baked Potato and Salad as well as the Power Hour meal. I ordered the brisket on the potato. What I received was a tablespoon (if that) of brisket ( I dissected the brisket from the potato so I could eat the meat separate) on a lukewarm potato and an almost wilted salad with soggy croutons. The photo attached is the menu photo of the meal and description. When we received the check it was for the regular menu price of 9.99 I addressed this with the waitress and she said she couldn't change the check and handed me $1.00 the lunch price is $8.49. I chalked that right up with the quality of the food coming out of the kitchen, poor management and staff knowledge. My husband's wings were good but the fries were hard and also terrible like they tried to reheat them in the fryer. We usually order the donuts which are always delicious but really didn't want to be disappointed if they also came out bad. The place was not busy so there is no excuse because the kitchen was not overwhelmed that clearly wasn't the case. I would also say $3.09 for Soda is ridiculous I recommend drinking a real drink for just a little more. The place is in decline and it is sad to see. The grounds and building need TLC for sure. The meal in May was very good it may take awhile to go back again if we do the manager will be called right away! read more

We wanted to schedule dinner with our family just before Christmas. Our sons and their families all together for the first time in a few years. They do not take reservations but when I called and talked to Sara about a party of 15, she said she appreciated a heads up and that the "back room" would be a good fit. She made a note to the managers, gave me their names and said all would be good. It's a chain so I had my doubts. I called the day of and talked with Stephanie, one of the managers. She said all was arranged. It was perfect! We had our own area. Wes was our server and took excellent care of us, even taking pics of the whole family. Food was delicious from salmon to brisket to fried pickles, wings, nachos, combo platters and more. And we have some pretty discriminating palates. Great job! read more

Very disappointing meals last night ! Typically Smokey Bones has been consistently good with their food. My wife and I ordered take out last night. We ordered the baby back and 1/4 all white chicken. The baby back ribs had zero smoke flavor and tasted as if they were just baked. Very bland favor. The Chicken which was supposed to be all white but was all dark meat. Chicken had little BBQ flavor. We also ordered the salmon salad. The Salmon was well / overly done with again, little flavor. I did call and speak with the manager and he did make good on both meals with a IOU so we will try again. read more

Upon moving to the Midwest I was really excited to find that there was a smokey bones here because we had a great experience in Florida. Unfortunately, though, I can not give our experience at this location more than 1 star. We showed up on a Saturday night at around 7pm. It was crowded which is normally a good sign. We wanted a table for 7 people. Most of our party was young children. They quoted us an hour which seemed like a long time but I already had my mind set on the pretzels and smoked wings so I thought we would make it worth it. Since there was no sitting room inside we went across the street to the "Christian book" store to kill time and then ended up waiting in the freezing car. After one hour and 15 minutes I went up to the host to find out how much longer it would be. For a while she refused to give me the time and then finally said it would probably be another 45 minutes to an hour!!!! She didn't offer anything or say sorry. Finally I placed an order at the bar then we took our food 25 minutes later and ate it in front of McDonalds in the Florence Mall Foodcourt. The wings were burnt. This was the low point of my week. This is when the story gets good. Within a week I call to talk to a manager. Doug answers the phone. I was frustrated and I told him our story politely. For those of us that have ever worked in food service we now that this is perfect. You can say "OMG, I can't believe that happened, we never do that, that's so unacceptable, can I get you a free app, dessert, drink" OR AT LEAST SAY "sorry". Doug didn't say these things. His first response was "I wasn't working that night." His second response was "hmmmmmm, our hostesses aren't supposed to quote times." His third response was "Yeah, our restaurant wasn't built for groups. He ended the conversation by taking down my name and phone number, saying "I'll look into this and have someone call you back." That was 5 days ago. Somehow Smokey Bones in Florence managed to take a fanatic who is willing to wait for one hour in the freezing cold and then hand them my $80 in exchange for pretzels to someone who will now go straight to the Florence Mall Food Court. read more

So when the bill came and I checked the price it was a HUGE difference from the price advertised on a giant sign in the restaurant. Absolutely terrible. We had both style ribs that were extra dry extra over cooked and tasted terrible. Our side's came in a Styrofoam cup half-full and yet we were charged full price. When we spoke with the server he said that's what it is. This server did not try to get us fresh food or full portion side items he just shrugged.
