We have been to Smokey Bones numerous times and I thought it was time for a review. We went last Wednesday evening since it was our anniversary (we had just returned from a trip over the new year) and thought why cook when we know we always get a good meal and service here. That night was no exception. It was early (around 5 pm) and there was plenty of tables but decided to sit at the bar instead. The bartender, Sam, greeted us warmly and was on the entire visit. We started with a couple of beers and then ordered dinner. I created my own combo of smoked sausage and smoked wings and my wife ordered the hand pulled pork. The meal was served fairly quickly and as usual everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The sausage has just a little bit of spice and the casing had a real good snap. The wife loved her pulled pork and sampled the different bbq sauces. I normally get the steamed broccoli as a side and the wife decided to try it too. Now she knows why I get it. It is always cooked just done so it is not soggy or hard. The seasoning is spot on and you get a decent helping of it. I also got the bbq baked beans which have a nice smokey flavor too. Sam asked for our Bones club card at the end of the meal and I was surprised to find I had $10 in credit from previous purchases. I mentioned that I had a coupon that I forgot to being in for our anniversary in the club but she assured me if I brought it in next time they would still honor it. We will be back. A+ on the food and A+ for Sam on the service. read more

Ordered wings and they didn't even glaze them. For how expensive it is, I would expect for my wings to be hand tossed and have plenty of glaze. If I wanted chicken wings with no sauce, I would've saved money and went to KFC. Honestly disappointed and don't plan on purchasing again. Stopped here while driving through. Amanda waited on us and was very attentive. Drinks and food were tasty.

People were fantastic, service was great. Food was none of the above. The steak ordered was rotten and taste like eating tuna from the can so it was sent back, wings were good but had a bad grease aftertaste. I was to polite to say anything about my wings. The only food that was on-point was the ribs of course. Ribs were great. Nothing bad to say about the staff with the excepting of the Chef. Chef should have known those steaks were rotten prior to cooking them. In their defense though, the chef was out and other staff was filling In so, can't really knock them on they too much. 3 is a fair value only due to the great staff and the ribs. Everyone has a bad day so, give them another chance I certainly will. Thank you for the great service. read more

I'm telling you the food here is incredible. Burgers are mouthwatering! The service is genuine and one of a kind and to be at a restraunt that takes care of its customers is important. I also firmly beleive that they have one of the best reward programs in the market. read more

Passing through Florence this past Friday afternoon on our way to Tennessee. Were under the gun for time and wanted to stay close to the interstate, so we settled on Smokey Bones. No one in our party had ever visited a Smokey Bones location, so we didn't know what to expect. Interior is nice and the menu was impressive - lots of interesting bbq choices and we all had trouble deciding which item looked best. I went for the burrito with rice, cheese, pulled chicken, beans, and bbq sauce. I somewhat enjoyed the dish, but didn't care for the rice - which was actually dirty rice. This version has corn, tomatoes, onions, and green peppers which I did not enjoy. I picked out as much of the green pepper as possible, but could still taste the remnants. I sampled two of the four bbq sauces available on the table and thought they were extremely good. I also had a cup of coffee which was surprisingly good as well. My wife had the bourbon bbq chicken breast, fries, and baked apples - all three proved to be delicious. I sampled the chicken and found it to be cooked perfectly. My mother-in-law had a stacked baked potato with pulled pork, a caesar salad, and garlic bread. She liked her food, but wasn't over the moon about any of the items. She isn't quite as enthusiastic about food though as my wife and I. Service was about average for this type of restaurant and the final bill was...was... I'm not sure. Just drove 1000 miles in the last 24 hours and have no idea where the receipt is. I believe it was par for the course for sit down casual dining chains. We had a good enough experience that we would definitely give it another try. Very close to four stars. read more

Great place overall! We had party of 4 and all of our food was great with flavor, all warm, good amount of servings. Waitress was great keeping up with all of our 'extra' request of additional side, napkins, several refills (teenage boys lol) and desserts. She was on top of it for the whole dinner as well as taking care of her other tables. Busy place and great organization within the staff to get everyone taken care of whether it was to be seated, pick up, or place a take out order. Been here quite a few times and will always return. Came here on a Saturday night- Got seated right away- but the waiter that seated us wouldn't let us sit in a booth, even though there was one open- She said "That's the only one we have left" and proceeded to tell us that it was out of rotation and what not. Little angry about that one which is why they lost a star- But when we did get seated, we had Blake. He was fantastic the whole time. It was the first time for us at the restaurant and he went over all of his recommendations and helped us through the whole ordering process. At first I thought it was a little pricey, but after we got our food, I saw that you really get a LOT of food for the price. I got the smoked chicken wings and my boyfriend got ribs. Have always lived near the area, but had never stopped in here before - turns out there must have been a good reason why I stayed away for as long as I did. We went on a Friday night, and it was nearly empty. Which isn't a huge deal, but the place is so lit up and quiet, it made for kind of an uncomfortable dining experience, because it's a large, open restaurant. Our server had seemingly no interest in being there that night, even dropping off our entrees with a simple "here," and walked away. Rarely checked on us, pretty much had to tracked down when we wanted to leave, and he gave a tiny to go box, which was clearly too small for what we had remaining. Not to mention he served me a wrong side with my entree, but he was so difficult to deal with, I didn't even bother. Typically I can deal with poor-average customer service, as that's not typically on the restaurant, it could just be a certain person having a bad day. But all of the food was below average, as well. The sirloin wasn't bad, and the baked beans were pretty decent. But, my wife had the smoked wings and ribs, and they were nothing to write home about. Had their bourbon tea, as well, which was very small and overpriced for what is was. We won't be back. read more

I got up for refills since we never saw our waitress again, that was until I flagged her down and asked for a manager. If you want a disappointing experience, filled with sub-par customer service, cold food and a manager that will yell at you; go to Smokey Bones. Put in a to go order and was told over the phone they aren't even sure they would be able to fulfill the request. We ordered pull pork, chicken, and two sides. That should of been the warning sign for the rest of the evening with this restaurant. After arriving at the restaurant 10 minutes before the order pickup time, their wait staff never once checked on us to see if we needed anything or updated us on the order. Finally, after 30 minutes of waiting (20 minutes past the scheduled pickup time) we were given our order. They could not find the coupon in their system and ended up not honoring it. No big deal, just a $5 coupon, but combine that with everything else, it only has piled on to the terrible experience. Once bringing the meal home (10 minutes door to door) we opened the bag to find a missing side, missing rolls, a half empty pulled pork container and cold meat. We called up to the restaurant to talk to the GM about the experience which ended in her YELLING at us that "we are not the customer, we are not right and her job is not customer service." I am no stranger to restaurants, customer service or problem resolving - and this by far takes the cake on any terrible experience I have heard, seen or experienced. Moral of the story: AVOID SMOKEY BONES. read more

Disappointing on several levels. First the widespread cobwebs and dust everywhere that wasn't part of the Halloween decor. Second the emo waitress that kept forgetting everything (mention the specials, refill the drinks, pass on our food dissatisfaction to the manager, etc.). Ordered a carry out from here and the food was good. The problem was stuff from the order was missing. Paid 99 cents to upgrade to a loaded baked potato and then another dollar to add cheese (little crazy to have to pay a dollar to add cheese). Got home and had just a plain baked potato so I paid $1.99 for nothing. The pulled pork was supposed to come with garlic bread and there was no garlic bread with it. Also, one entree was supposed to come with a side of corn and it was missing. Paid $4 for a side of mac & cheese and it came in a tiny plastic container that had about three bites. Not even close to being worth $4. If I am going to pay $37 for two entrees and a side of mac & cheese, I expect it to be all there. My brother gave me a gift card and I was pretty excited to try you guys out. However, this will be the last time I purchase from your restaurant. Waiting 40 minutes for a $39.00 pick up order with 2 entree and dessert is unacceptable. Especially on a slow Sunday with not a lot of people dining inside. Cold food is unacceptable. Missing sides and ice cream is terribly disappointing and enough to spoil a nice dinner at home. Perusing the inter web on a whim searching for the best BBQ in town, several local favorites pulled up but in life they say try new things so... we did. MY GOODNESS!! Around noon on a Wednesday, had the entire place to ourselves almost, our waitress Bobie was a true doll. She helped us navigate the appetizer options and landed on the loaded fries to suit both of our tastes. Let me tell you- that chipotle Mayo & sweet chili sauce with the fries added just what I needed to kickstart the end of a fast. My friend went with the smoked chicken sandwich, paired with the ever delectable macaroni & cheese. 10/10! Myself, a basic pulled pork and baked beans. Pretty sure the chef pulled some voodoo magic on the beans because my lord, my mouth is salivating writing this. Both sandwiches were impeccable, flavorful, no fat in mine which is a peeve for me, and Bobie, our dearest waitress, had the chef make us the most delicious donuts paired with a raspberry sauce that melted my heart right there at the table. We eat here quite often. Food is usually decent. Today 12/3 at like 440 we were told 10 minute wait two people ahead of us. No problem. We had been waiting longer than that but still no problem. They called the two tables ahead of us. So we knew we would be next. Two people came in and put their name on the list. One family ahead of us was still waiting on a high chair. Im assuming they were short waitresses as there seemed to be a lot of empty tables. They then called the name of the two people who had just came in. My husband said excuse me I think you skipped over us. She found us on the list and said oh. She said ok I can go ahead and seat you now then. If there were tables available to where she could just take someone ahead of us then why were we even waiting? We said nevermind. We will just go somewhere else. She seemed aggravated that we even mentioned we'd been skipped. The other family also asked about their table as they were there even before us. Why take names and phone numbers down and then just not follow the list? I don't know why the two women who came in way after us deserved a table ahead of the two of us. I feared it was an omen we decided to go somewhere else even after already waiting as long as we had. If they can't seat you, in a very uncrowded restaurant, the food might also suffer. Other than being way too cold in the dining room, it was good. I overheard several customers complaining about the temperature. The food came out quickly and was hot. The service was good as well. I wish they would label their sauce bottles on the table so you don't have to figure out which is which. I also noticed that they have changed their style (for lack of a better word). It seems they are trying to be more 'adult'. Most of their signs they have hanging aren't appropriate for some kids. Right now, mine is too young to understand them, so I'm not too worried about it. I don't remember exactly what they say off the top of my head, but something to the effect of 'being lazy is cool', and then some with sexual innuendo about rubbing your meat, etc. I think they are trying too hard to be cool. I came here last Monday with my fiancé. This was my second time visiting, both times have been on a Monday. The restaurant does an all you can eat wings on Monday, and they have play all the football games, so it's a WIN WIN for me and the fiancé. The wings are pretty big so I can never take advantage of the all you can eat, I'm full after the first serving. They offer a variety of different flavors with the option of getting smoked wings or chicken wings. I prefer the smoked wings, in my opinion they have more flavor and aren't fried. Alisha Ray is one heck of a great server. I have followed her wherever her serving priorities go. She was my server when she worked at the Colonial Cottage and now at Smokey Bones. Her personality resonates and carries over to the customers she serves. She is polite, caring and genuinely loves her job. You couldn't ask for a better person than her to wait on you. Prices are comparable to other restaurants and the Nachos were to die for. She never batted an eye and was spot on for taking care of our needs. I believe she is one of "the best". This is the spot in Florence KY. Hands down the best smoked wings around. The bartender Gary is a first class, all world bartender, so be prepared to enjoy yourself with him. The new GM Tammy has done a good job "re-structuring" the staff, and they are all very pleasant and happy to be of service... Bones is definitely a place to stop anytime, and they're open late for the later crowd. Drink specials are good, though some of the beers that aren't on special can be a tad pricey.
