This place is so amazing! I'm from Nevada and never had been to Kentucky. We have good Bbq in the west but boy does this place know how to smoke some ribs! To be honest the best smoked ribs I have ever had. They smell great when your plate arrives. And then the meat falls off the bone. It's tender, juicy and delicious! We also loved the deep fried pickles! The batter stayed on the Pickles and the flavor was great. I ordered the Mac and cheese for a side and it was delicious too. Ok we also had the best server names Preston. She so friendly and sweet. Best of all the prices were very reasonable. Grabbing dinner with my son before work, yes we both work overnight, we decided to have Smokey Bones. I had seen an advertisement for a half rack of ribs for $10, and a whole rack for $15, each with 2 sides. This is a limited-time offer, through February. It was really slow that night and we were seated right away. While it took a few minutes to be acknowledged, once we were seen, all was well. I ordered the half rack of ribs and added a 1/4 BBQ chicken ($15). My son had a new menu item, shrimp and grits ($20). The food arrived after a reasonable wait and was warm and flavorful. Turns out the shrimp and grits were missing the special butter and mushrooms. The staff was quick to fix it and even gave us a minor (10%) discount. Overall, this is a decent chain place for BBQ. It's relatively pedestrian, but sometimes that's all you want. The discount ribs made it a value at $50 including sodas and 20%+ tip. read more

I decided to buy the 3 favorites Create Your Own Combo of 2 orders of 4 bone-in wings and ¼ BBQ chicken with fire-roasted corn and wtih broccoli without salt and with Cajun and Mesquite rubs. It came with 2 toasts. So delicious for $24.99. It had been many years since we had been here so it was time to come back. The restaurant still has the awesome aroma of smoked meat as soon as you walked in which made me happy. Their food has always been stellar in the past and this was no exception. I had some of their Boneless Wings with their Buff-A-Que sauce. These were some really good wings and that sauce is top notch (a combination off bbq and Buffalo sauce.) High recommendation for those. The fries I got on the side were average although it was a good way to try out all the bottles of bbq sauce on the table. My son got their Ribeye with mashed potatoes and gravy as well as some fries. He enjoyed that very much. The service was decent enough and the restaurant was clean and pleasant. All in all another great visit to Smokey Bones. read more

One steak was good the other was tough. Not many customers and seemed to be light on service (servers there were nice/friendly). We got a piece of chocolate cake to go... I'm in from South Carolina and myself and two friends went to Smokey Bones for dinner. We were greeted upon entering by Greg who would be our waiter. One member of our party is retired Air Force, Greg acknowledged this and mentioned he also retired from the Air Force. They discussed planes and working as aircraft mechanics. We enjoyed appetizers and good meals. All this time Greg was very attentive, filling drink as they got low, checking in to see how we were doing, etc. I have today this was probably one of the best dining experience I have had in a long while. I feel that you can have great food most places, but exceptional service is very hard to find these days. Great job Greg. I hope to come back someday again. read more

There's always room for dessert; so I'll start there :c) sadly they ran out of cornbread and were unable to make the Strawberry Shortcake Sundar which was disappointing. I opted for the Strawberry Cheesecake which was not good at all. They place strawberry concentrate on the plate then place the cheesecake atop of that; sadly the crust sops up the concentrate making the base of the cheesecake soggy; additionally they do not place fresh strawberries like the menu photo, they use frozen or from concentrate so presentation wise does not look good. The crust was also dry and the cheesecake very thick, didn't have the creamy cheesecake texture one would expect. Now that we have gotten dessert out of the way. The sweet tea is just that lol sweet, so if you are not a fan of sweet sweet sweet, ask for them to make it half and half (they'll know what it means) essentially they will blend half of their sweet tea with unsweetened tea and you'll be all set with a perfect blend of a nice sweet iced tea. I had the brisket which was delicious, I was pleasantly surprised to see that their brisket did not have a lot of fatty parts so I was very happy about that. I opted for the Mac n. cheese as the side, which was good with the right amount of crunch and crust on top, could have done with a little more kick and spice but good nonetheless. We had arrived from a long day of travel from New Jersey and saw the reviews and menu so figured to try the place out. Excellent marks all around. The decor and vibe was pleasant and inviting. Our server Kara was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Food was excellent. My son even ordered a couple dozen wings to bring to our Airbnb after trying them in the sample platter. The smoked jalapeño and cheese sausage was awesome. I had a great convo with Billy at the front of the house while I was waiting for the fam to wash up. I'm rating this restaurant three stars based on my first visit a few weeks ago. I think they could do better and easily get a four star rating from me. The reason for the one star deduction is, I thought the customer service was lacking. We walked in the door and there was no one at the host station. There was a young girl on the phone a few feet back, but no one acknowledged us for at least five minutes. We could've easily walked out and back in and out and in and out and then again and no one would've noticed. while we were standing there, we were looking around the dining room, and noticed that there were many empty tables, they didn't appear to be too busy that evening. When the server took our drink orders, my husband ordered his usual old-fashioned, but what they brought him was not an old-fashioned. He said it tasted awful. The server said she was sure it was an old-fashioned (but anyone who drinks this will definitely know what it should taste like). He said "I can't drink this so I'd like to have a jack and Coke instead, and I will pay for the awful drink if you need me to". The server said OK and walked away... she left the awful drink on the table and did not apologize - and we were disappointed to find that the drink showed up on our receipt at the end of the meal. Of course, we just paid it and left a tip accordingly, but based on this experience, it's pretty clear that customer service and guest experience is not their top priority. Took my Mom out for her birthday at Smokey Bones. Over the years, it's been iffy at times but last night it was spot on, service was great, restaurant was clean and cool. I first went back to this restaurant back in April of this year and I had a great experience with my parents then in April. I came back to the restaurant again about three weeks ago and had another wonderful experience at the restaurant with just my mom. I got the the sampler meal for two the second time and I split it with my mom. My mom and I really enjoyed eating that sampler that we got a few weeks back. I returned back to the restaurant last week with my mom, husband and one of my mom's sisters. My mom decided that she liked that sampler platter SO MUCH that she insisted that she, her sister, my husband and myself all split the sampler between the four of us again. The sampler the second time was just as tasty as the first time. Afterwards, my husband and I talked about how nice the wait staff was at the restaurant and how much the inside and the service have changed plus improved since my husband and I both ate in there the last time that he and I ate there, which was about a decade ago. My husband and I were quite impressed with the improvements in the quality of food, the service level and the improvements made to the inside of the restaurant. In fact, I am 95% sure that my husband will definitely be dragging me back inside this restaurant eat some more tasty barbecue and more than likely that sampler again, because he really enjoyed eating it this last time that we were in there. read more

The hostess was not at her station, wandering around and a family before us was already waiting. The hostess finally showed up (engaged in conversation with a waitress about some current event.) She said "How many child menus do you want?" abruptly to the family, no welcome first or in a friendly tone; instead her voice sounded bothered. Then we waited for her to greet or seat us. It was completely spoiled like milk that had turned. It had to have been sitting prepared for days. Around 4pm, only two people at the bar, no one in the restaurant. That's usually a bad sign but I wanted to give them a chance. Wish I hadn't. I wasn't expecting great food. Decent food would not have been disappointing.
