We've been to the Syracuse location and loved it, We were underwhelmed at the colonie location. Our server was friendly but we didn't see her much. The bathroom was dirty and dingy, the restaurant itself was clean and open. My boneless wings were the best thing at the table. My husbands burger was nothing to write home about and the pulled pork wasn't as good as we remembered. The wings I will say.. were done the bones way. With the dry rub and the sauce drizzled it was VERY GOOD. We will return to the Liverpool location but in Colonie there's other places we will try next time. read more

I haven't been here in years! My mom wanted to go because she saw the $5-$7 happy hour menu. We went for lunch. It definitely looks old. The door and booths are all worn out. The waitress however was super friendly and warm. We weren't drinking so I didn't check out one of the many cocktail specials. I had coffee and it was average as expected. My mom ordered the pulled pork Sammie from the happy hour menu. For $5 it was quite the bargain. I got the bbq chicken sandwich for $12.99. Mine came with a side dish. I choose the bbq beans. I love BBQ, this place evidently doesn't. Ordered the two meat plater, with pulled pork and brisket that came with two sides so I got beans and potatoe wedges. Let's start with the steak fries they tried to pass off as potatoe wedges. They were dry and flavorless. The pulled pork was okay, definitely not as dry as the potatoes. There was no fat that I could find and we all know fat is flavor. The Brisket was just nasty, no flavor, no bark, and so dry you could use it to sand rust of metal. It was cut thin and I only got four slices. Pencil thickness is a normal slice this was more like construction paper. Which by the way has more flavor. read more

I've come here quite a lot after work on the weekends as a place to relax and have a good quality rack or ribs. Today I came in for the 25th Anniversary deal for a full rack and it didn't disappoint. Where do I begin? We used to frequent this place when our son was in college in Albany. Boy have things changed! To start, the building looks like a mess outside. That should have been my first clue. The doors to go in were dirty. A little Windex goes a long way and is pretty simple. Once inside, we were basically ignored by a few servers until someone decided to "help" us with an attitude. Once seated a nice waiter eventually helped us but he seemed a bit nervous and new, which is why I let the rest of the craziness go. We ordered appetizers, came relatively quickly. Then we waited for our meals. Waiter eventually came over and said he forgot to put in our meal order so he needed to take it again. Things happen and, like I said, he appeared to be new. We waited. About 10 min later my meal (which was an appetizer) was delivered without the other 3 meals. My party encouraged me to eat so it didn't get cold - but it already was. Obviously MY order was put in at the right time and sat there. After 15 min, the rest arrived. Food was okay (except for mine). The biggest issue I have is no apologies. No manager came to our table to apologize. The waiter didn't even really apologize. And nothing was offered to compensate us for waiting so long. We were given our check and never even asked if we wanted anything more! I'm my opinion, this place is totally mismanaged. We saw one woman walking around that appeared to be the manager talking to herself under her breath clearly with an attitude. Needless to say, I'm never going back. Ps - the bathrooms were gross! The restaurant itself had a troubling smell and the women's restroom was overflowing with garbage. The restaurant was too slow for a bathroom to be in that kind of state. We had our orders taken- boneless wings and a half rack of ribs on the lunch special- and our meals left us unsatisfied. Smokey Bones (3/5) It had been a few years since I was last at Smokey Bones, but today I went to lunch there with my grandma and brother. Smokey Bones is a chain restaurant, and it very much feels like it. All of the food is decent and nothing was bad. We were seated in a booth by the bar which had tvs overhead playing assorted sports programs. I noticed that a number of the ceiling tiles were missing above us, and I think they should work on fixing that quickly. It was a bit of an eye sore and made the place look runned down. Looking back at other yelp pictures, this seems to have been an issue for at least the past 6 months. For drinks I ended up getting the Kendall Jackson Chardonnay which is a decent wine, but the wine list was pretty lacking. Then for our lunches my brother and I ordered the pulled pork platter and my Grandma ordered the pulled pork sandwich. The platters came with garlic bread and two sides. I chose french fries and coleslaw while my brother picked the mashed potatoes and broccoli. The pulled pork was pretty good, but I found everything else on the platter to be just ok(the garlic bread and french fries reminded me of sysco frozen food). My brother said that the broccoli was good and that his potatoes were just ok. I do like that they don't put the barbecue sauce on for you, and you have your choice of 4 different sauces at the table (the chipotle bbq and the carolina mopping sauce were my two favorites). read more

My 1/3 pound BLT was on toasted white bread, not "thick grilled bread", there was one piece of lettuce and one plum tomato slice not a "vine ripened tomato". The bacon was good and the mayo ok. But for $14 I would expect more. The 1/2 BBQ chicken was tiny a bit bigger than a quail. I would expect a half a 2.5 # chicken in half, not a baby chicken. The sides were ok, loaded baker was a tiny 110 - 120 ct potato, with a bit of cheese and a few bacon bits...BBQ beans were ok and the slaw was so dry....but for $50 i wont be back. Small, mediocre tasting wings. Apple sauce for my daughter was from a package (what bbq place doesn't make their own Apple sauce?!) and the brisket and mashed potatoes we split were pretty much the equivalent of prison food.
