I've yet to visit the Saratoga locations but I certainly enjoyed my meal in Clifton Park. The Eddie F's sign has been installed out front. The restaurant is cute and casual with a wonderful assortment of New England style seafood and sides. I ordered a blackened haddock sandwich, onion rings and coleslaw. It was really delicious. I was so happy that I wasn't limited to fish fry and that the blackened haddock came out of the kitchen just as quickly as my friend's fried fish fillet sandwich. I'm trying to eat healthier especially after my doctor recently assigned me a nutritionist so she expects to see results. On that note, Eddie F's New England style onion rings are almost guilt free. Our helpful server, Ashlynn, explained that these onion rings are not heavily breaded and battered like the traditional ones. I stuck some of them in my sandwich along with some coleslaw and went-to-town. I should mention the coleslaw is different, too. I asked,"Is there any mayonnaise ? I don't see or taste any." According to our server, Eddie F's coleslaw contains no mayo. There is vinegar and a bit of sugar which is great for me. Thanks, Eddie F's for offering great seafood dinners while helping me to navigate my new-and-improved eating habits.

I say all that because we live in Clifton Park and only just now got to this location for the first time even though we had been relatively regular customers of the former Harbor House. Apparently, 5:30PM on a Monday during Lent is a good time to dine here. We were the only customers when we walked in and only two other parties arrived by the time we left. With that said, service was friendly, prompt, and efficient. There were many different things I wanted to try, so the best option for me was the Captains Basket ($45). Initially, this seemed expensive to me. But when the meal was placed in front of me, two thoughts crossed my mind - am I going to try to eat all this? - and will I enjoy it? The answers were NO and YES, respectively. The Captains Basket contains haddock, scallops, shrimp, and Ipswich whole belly clams. The portions of each were very generous and I was able to include two sides. While I chose to have all my fish fried, I could have mixed and matched additional choices of grilled, blackened, or gluten free fried. The coating on the fried fish is light and not overly salty. All the fish varieties were perfectly cooked. The haddock was flakey, the shrimp had a slight crunch to their bite, the whole belly clams were soft and creamy, and the scallops were tender, sweet, and slightly springy. My side of onion rings were not greasy and very thinly sliced. I generally prefer a thicker sliced onion. The baked beans I ordered mostly for my wife's enjoyment, and while I thought the consistency was more fluid than what I expected, my wife said they reminded her of pork and beans. My wife's choice for dinner was the Fish N Chips ($19) - battered and fried with French fries and slaw. She had two good sized portions of haddock of equal quality to my haddock, and non-greasy fries that were crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and still tasty when I tried them at room temperature. The slaw was average. A couple of large sodas ($3.50 each) rounded out our meal. Neither of us finished our meal and took some home to enjoy the next day - and we did! On our next trip, I plan to order less fish and save room for dessert since the choices sounded so good.

The portion size was huge so you may have leftovers, but it's well fried and tasty. The marinara sauce on the side was good along with the lemon we squeezed over all of the calamari. The High Rock Chicken with Applewood smoked bacon, Vermont white cheddar, lettuce, tomato, honey mustard sauce, and fries was delicious. The honey mustard was light so I did ask for an aioli which paired well with the sandwich. Really great meal.

I said on our next visit we wanted to try the burgers and tacos. Yes, we tried the burgers this time, so we were at least halfway successful. We both ordered the Steakhouse Burgers ($21) served with wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, cheddar, and a cabernet sauce. These burgers were delicious! The meat was a perfect medium rare as each of us requested, the rolls were soft and fresh, the cabernet sauce had an exceptionally good flavor, and combined with the sautéed onions and melted cheese provided just the right amount of moisture and gooeyness. I chose to have my burger served with the standard French fries which they call Dipple Fries if ordered separately as a side. (Google "dipple fries cutter" to see how they are shaped.) My wife substituted a Caesar salad for the fries for an up charge of $5. The salad was quite good and large enough for her to share some of it with me. We also had a bottle of Saratoga sparkling ($9) and a pint of Wolf Hollow Amber ($8.50). Our server, Jordin, was truly pleasant on our last visit and again on this one. Maybe next time we'll remember to try the Tacos. There WILL be a next time.

I've been there twice, once shortly after they opened and the experience wasn't great. All the waitstaff was young and inexperienced, except the bartender (I felt so bad for her, she was making drinks, answering the phone, and trying to help out the waitstaff and do the hostessing). I didn't judge based on this, as it was difficult to find staff after COVID and they were so new. The ambiance was a bit bear, not a lot of decor, which made the space seem empty and a bit of an echo, again they were just getting started, so I assumed that would come with time. The service was slow and we were brought the wrong dishes. After leaving my partner and I decided to wait a bit to let them get settled before returning/making a judgement. We went again a year or so later and unfortunately not too much changed. There was a bit more decor, but the rest of the experience was the same, down to getting served the wrong dishes. I still have hope for this place, it's a great spot and again I love how it is right in our little community. I hope they are able to find their feet one day!

Our orders ranged from soups to appetizers to full meals. Everything came out quickly, and all our meals came out at the same time. Everyone was satisfied with portions and taste. I believe the only negative comments the entire evening were around the cocktails. One person mentioned that their price point was too high. I would have liked to see more non-alcoholic options on the drink menu, such as crafted alcohol-free cocktails. Another friend, Pam, had highly recommended Emma Jayne's Restaurant which is only a couple of traffic lights from Trader Joe's - a perfect location for our trip. The restaurant sits just north of Fred the Butcher (next door, literally) for those who frequent that establishment, on Route 9. There is off-street parking. When we arrived at 12:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, the front parking spaces were full. (Note: there may be parking around back; I didn't check) We thought we might have to wait for a table. Wrong! The restaurant is surprisingly spacious with two large rooms furnished with tables that were thoughtful spaced apart. A photo of an adorable young girl, whom we assumed was the dining establishment's namesake, was on the wall. Let me be sure to mention that the ladies room, which smelled faintly of bleach, was spotless. I mean REALLY clean! About the food ... my friend and I shared an appetizer of Fried Calamari. It was an ample portion (took some home) accompanied by sweet chili sauce - a nice change from typical marinara served at other places. However, the calamari was small and overcooked. As a result, what was presented was a plate of small, overly crisp rings of 90% batter. No squid! For our entrees, Barb chose the Chicken Salad Sandwich. She requested that it be served on a pretzel bun (touted as homemade) for which we were hit with an up-charge of $3.50. The chicken salad had grapes and walnuts in it and Barb liked it very much. The up-charged pretzel roll did not appear to be homemade. Very disappointing. Had she known it would be uninspiring, she would have accepted the brioche roll. Macaroni salad - not very exciting - accompanied the sandwich along with a pickle. I love seafood and was torn between ordering the Fish and Chips (halibut) and Lobster Pot Pie (an appetizer). Our server, Drew, gets a gold star for suggesting the second one when I told him I wasn't a big eater. Apparently, the halibut, while highly recommended, is a sizable portion. The pot pie was superb! The rich, creamy sauce was divine. I couldn't eat it all and will enjoy the rest of it for lunch today. Emma Jayne's menu has something for everyone. Our server, Drew, was informative and attentive. At any rate, we were brought chili oil but the taste of adding it is completely different from the taste of an actual Sichuan spicy dish. The duck was average at best. Mapo Tofu was very spicy despite being labelled only one out of five. It was good but so salty, we only tasted a little of it. Sauteed pea shoots were excellent but again, too salty to eat. The four of us found this restaurant slightly below average to average in the food offerings. If you go, and you don't like massive amounts of sodium (even in dishes that aren't soy sauce based!), insist on low salt or no extra salt. The duck and soups were the only things that weren't ultra-salty. It's unfortunate because it's the ambience and service were excellent.
