Smith landscaping did an excellent job of rebuilding our cracked slump-stone planter. Tree roots had cracked the planter in several places. We got several estimates from masons to rebuild the planter, but they didn't know how to cut back the tree roots that caused the problem. He came out initially to give estimate, which was high, yet I thought he would live up to his promises. He sent a crew out and they seemed to change each week. I texted pics of issues I was having and wanted corrected, they were never taken care of and he wanted me to be in charge of his men. I was not home when the crew would come to mow blow go. I also asked him to give me estimates for upgrades and he never would. He even said he would meet me at my place and go over issues so we agreed on a day and time and I made sure I was there and he never showed. He wouldn't want to text, cuz it would be in writing, he wanted to talk on the phone. I couldn't always do that. He then texted me and said he didn't want to work for me anymore. Ha! We were extremely excited to get our outdoor kitchen and huge pavers job started. That was 5 months ago. We paid Stacey for the renderings of outdoor kitchen which took quite some time to get, then quite some time to do requested changes. He took the time to take us to a couple of his projects and we were impressed. We have a function at our home in September and he knew we wanted things done for it. We thought we would have his help choosing appliances and we finally had to do that ourselves. We never got a contract and, after contacting him several times as to when he would get started (it was always "next week"). My husband finally cornered him and asked for a contract and a start date. After speaking to him today, Stacey emailed this: "... after our conversation I really do not feel comfortable anymore of working with you guys you knew all along I was busy I moved many people out of the way to help you out was trying to move along very quickly on projects to get you in there for this September 19 shindig so anyway best of luck and hopefully this outdoor creations can help you out thanks." We went to them for an extensive paver and outdoor kitchen job and we started with him preparing renderings for our front and back yard. We should have realized they were a bad choice when it took about a month to get the initial drawings that contained many mistakes. Then it took a few weeks for him to make the minor corrections. We wanted to go with him but having no bid after 5 months doesn't seem like he was doing anything to help us out. We called him on this and then he said he didn't want to work with us. He talked a good game but at the end of the day he did almost nothing. We will find someone else who wants to work with us in a professional manner and get this done. We highly recommend Stacey and his crew for any landscaping design and work. We recently purchased in Upland but the previous owner left the back yard a complete wreck, and the recent rainy season left us with a dire need for drains and grading. We contacted Stacey after asking around on the Nextdoor App (he came highly recommended) and he immediately understood our budget and worked with us to create a wonderful design, including two gravity drains connected directly to the downspouts of the roof rain gutters, a new fence (which wasn't initially part of our plan but Stacey was able to tear down the old and complete the new in less than a week), overhauling the sprinkler system back AND front), planting of over 100 plants (of various variety) and nearly a dozen large trees (which he is open to you picking, even though he has exactly the right choices in mind). He even was willing to build in a garden area in one of the corners so we can plant vegetables. (On this point I am especially happy, because I really don't like planter boxes and Stacey was willing to modify his design to appease me. He also offered to dig out all the rock from that corner so the garden would flourish!) Before he started he noticed that we just took in a tiny Maltese-mix puppy and used organic weedkiller (instead of Roundup) because he was conscious of the puppy's health. Once he started the job, it felt like a whirlwind. His guys work hard and quick (put some Gatorade in a cooler and give them a shady area for lunch). As well, Stacey is extremely attentive and responsive, more often than not he was at our house overseeing everything making sure details that we wouldn't have noticed are completed. Stacey takes a lot of pride in his work and clearly gets satisfaction from having happy clients. We (plus puppy) are very happy with our yard. read more
