Joe installed a drip system, new lawn, and a beautifully stamped concrete walkway/storage area for our waste bins. He did an amazing job, explaining everything as he went, completing everything in only just a few days. We decided that we would do part of the landscaping in o save a bit of money and Joe was not only agreeable to this but also gave recommendations on what would look good! 10/10 would recommend Bear Paw for all your construction or landscaping needs. read more

Bear Paw Landscape - After Bear Paw Landscape installed sod on my backyard - Landscaping Near Me

I contacted Bear Paw after receiving their flyer in my mailbox. Owner, Joel Gonzalez, responded in a timely manner and was on time for our appointment. Joel listened to my ideas and he shared his vision. He presented me with a digital design and the end result was just that. Joel is conscious and precise in his hands on work as is his helper Francisco. My paver porch and walkway in the front yard is beautiful. The 45 new plants complete the renovation design. I highly recommend Bear Paw. read more

Wanted to leave an update on my review. Since having our front yard done by Bear Republic a few years ago we have called them back to do the backyard. We could not be more happy with the outcome! We went into our first meeting with Joel and had a pretty good idea of what we wanted. However, he had some great ideas for us plus had samples of different finishes we could use. We have an existing 20ish year old pool that we worked around as well. Which we will be calling Joel back to give a little face lift to when we are ready! Joel and his crew are still amazing at what they do and as mentioned before, very tidy! I mean above and beyond tidy! For example, they would blow, sweep and hose at the end of every day. Plus once they laid our turf they would make sure to pick up any mess my dog had made....WOW....beyond impressed! Once again I would recommend them again and again!!! I've added some before and after of the backyard as well. read more

I can't say enough good things about Joel and Bear Paw Landscaping. First, very reliable and punctual. Came out when he said he would for a quote. The quote was fair and reasonable for our budget. Two, the workers are respectful and punctual and did a great job. They took away a bunch of Overgrown plants and replaced them with organized and arranged plants, stones, and sod. The job was done quickly and Joel didn't leave until we were 100% happy. When we had a follow up question, he came out promptly the next day and made sure that everything was still working correctly. His plants have a three month guarantee. So many people in the neighborhood have come up to us complementing bear paw on their work! I would not hesitate to recommend or use again! read more

We needed to replace our dead lawn with decorative stone. They were quick to respond to my inquiry, fair on their pricing and did excellent work. They were respectful of our garden's plants - did absolutely no damage - and cleaned up completely after they finished. You'd never know they were ever here - except for the beautiful new decorative stone they quickly installed. I highly recommend their services and plan to use them again whenever I need their help on future projects. As an added bonus, they weeded my front yard stone area as I was unable to do so because of a recent back problem. They did this on their own initiative. Who does this anymore? Professionals - and they are most definitely that and more. I've only experienced their landscaping expertise, but they do much more. Thinking about a project - do yourself a favor and talk with them - you will not regret the time spent. I know I certainly do not! read more

I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Bear Republic Landscape!!! Joel's attention to detail is second to none. Him and his crew take a lot of proud in their work. My overall experience with them was very satisfying. Joel is very professional and easy to work with. They answered all of my questions and communicated quickly via text, phone or in person. The crew that installed the pavers and sod for me were very clean and efficient. During the actual job, they kept the materials and equipment clean and orderly. Once they were done for the day, they cleaned up after themselves. No trash, no dirt, no tools laying around. I am EXTREMELY satisfied in the quality of work that Joel and his staff did for me. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Joel and his staff. Here are some before and after images.... read more

I can't say enough great things about Joel and his team at Bear Republic Landscape. Joel came by for a consultation while the house was still under construction. The small backyard was just mud and we didn't even have our fence up yet. We weren't even sure what we wanted to do with our backyard because we couldn't even picture what our yard was going to look like with the fence up. Joel gave his input and it was as if he could already picture what it would look like as he went over what he recommended. He explained the different options that he recommended and the different types of materials and their quality levels. He showed us a couple of his other projects in the area and one of his satisfied customers came outside and told us about how happy she was with their work and that she recommended them. He gave us a very detailed itemized estimate and we set up an appointment for them to begin work a few weeks later. Throughout the whole process, Joel and his team were very professional and courteous. Although there was a lot of digging, and different equipment and materials involved, they kept the job site clean and did their best to minimize disruptions and noise while they were there. I was expecting our yard to look like a war zone while the work was being done but they always cleaned up after each day of work. It didn't take long for the project to be completed. I expected something really nice for our small space but Bear Republic exceeded our expectations. The yard came out absolutely beautiful. Everyday when I look outside I'm amazed with how they transformed our muddy backyard area to a very relaxing, picturesque outdoor space. Joel is a true artist and very meticulous in his work. He and his team were great to work with. I highly recommend Bear Republic Landscape for any landscaping project. read more

Joel and his team did a fantastic job building a block wall on the West side of the driveway here at my house in Covina. It probably wasn't a huge job but it was important to me to get a bit of separation from my neighbors. The wall goes from my backyard gate to the sidewalk out front (about 40 feet). What a difference ... it looks amazing!!! I would definitely hire Bear Paw Landscape for another job at my house and will be recommending them to friends and family too! read more

Joel and his team did an outstanding job on our front yard. They were professional and respectful. Joel followed COVID-19 precautions such as wearing a face mask and keeping distance when communicating. He replied to all my calls in a timely manner. His team were detailed and caring about the quality of their work. I am very happy with their performance and would hire them again for my next project in our backyard. My husband accidentally found Joel and his Bear Republic landscape company on yelp, and was moved by his specialty and specification, so we started the backyard decoration cooperation for more than two months. We have been away for more than a month, but Joel and his team have been working hard to ensure quality . At the time of acceptance, he asked us to make statistics with him, one by one, so as to ensure that every clause in the contract was well implemented. We are glad to meet this team, and hope that more people can cooperate with them to harvest satisfactory projects. read more

Beware. I'm writing this review while the work is completed . I used yelp quite often and reviewed many pictures of their supposedly jobs completed as examples. I liked what I saw and reached out for some quotes. As I am writing this review most of his reviews are no longer recommended and I notice a pattern. Take a look for yourself. I used yelp for a qoute estimate in mid Month and Joel asked to come out to see the site. We made an appointment for a 3 days later as it was Saturday. At his suggested time in the morning and he showed up late. I will note though, the other landscapers I received quotes from all showed up late too. After discussing about doing a patio concrete he gave me a price and I accepted without negotiation as I wanted him to do everything professionally and handed him a deposit check. He was booked for the next month. For the next few weeks no contact or communication 2 weeks before the start I still haven't heard anything so I reach out to him and he gives me two possible dates, a few days from each other. One week before and no confirmation or any updates. I reach out to him again and the later date is what I'm now given. Joel and his two guys show up early that date at 7:15am. His two guys are very nice and hard workers. Communication to the employees was also not there. They began doing a mow curb that was too high above the grass and not the 6"x6" we originally discussed. I contacted Joel and notified him they were not completing what we agreed on. They made it slightly lower still way higher than the grass height and 5x4. Joel was not on the job site for most of the work. The next day the cement truck shows up I did not see any wire mesh or rebar done. I asked Joel is it not required? He said "no not needed. So I go and google it and every patio slab pour I read about and video seen shows and explains a wire mesh or rebar is necessary so it holds the slab together and assists in preventing cracks when there are earth movements. He comes by and asks me if I want to have another crack line put in I tell him yes because everything I read says wire mesh or rebar is done for patio slabs and he tells me he didn't charge me for it! That was never discussed or agreed on. WTF. He completes a 4 inch pour of concrete from the cement truck on bare dirt with no wire mesh or rebar. Beware they have now changed their business name. read more

Joel did a few projects for us including demoing an existing patio structure and replacing it with a bigger, nicer patio cover, new vinyl gates and fencing, front yard landscaping, and hardscaping. We couldn't be happier! They were respectful of our property, daily cleaned up after themselves, showed up to work every day on time, and worked faster than our agreed upon timeline. I will work with Bear Republic again! read more

I had a wonderful experience working with this company. Joel made my old, overgrown and ugly backyard into a dream play area for my kids in less then a week! The owner Joel was very professional and so easy to work with. His guys were also very nice! His pricing is great for the quality of work and customer service he provides and he gives it to you straight- no surprises with extra charges at the end of the job. His crew was very good, worked very fast and were very clean. I will be referring Bear Republic to family and friends. read more

Bear Paw Landscape did an excellent job in fixing my Mother in Law's large backyard in Chino. Joel and his assistant Francisco arrived early every morning, and worked hard and efficiently to complete a well designed project in only 8 days. They were able to reuse over two thirds of demolition rubble at the site through creative ways, which included: building raised vegetable beds, creating borders for water retention around avocado trees, building a secondary retention wall/hill topped with nice plants, and using demolition material to stabilize soil slopes. They also planted low maintenance succulents and fruit trees in beautiful arrangements, as well as drought tolerant bushes to provide both erosion control and privacy. In addition, they improved storm water management by building a nice rainwater retention garden with river rocks and by regrading slopped areas. Not only did they work efficiently, but they also communicated continuously with me and were always open to suggestions. Finally, the project's total cost was quite reasonable and less expensive than other bids we received. We were very pleased with Bear Paw Landscape and we would recommend this company without any hesitation. read more

We contacted Bear Paw Landscaping to come out and give us an estimate to replace our front yard that had been destroyed by gophers. Owner, Joel Gonzalez arrived on time. We presented him with our ideas and our design to do the yard in various colors and types of rocks. He patiently listened and gave us some recommendations on our design. We decided to go with him. He started the job on the date he promised. Each day he and his assistant arrived on time. He was professional and polite at all times. As the work progressed, we could see it was going to be too many rocks for such a large area and wanted to make changes to add artificial turf to the design. Joel couldn't have been more gracious in accommodating us with this change and ensuring us that we will be happy with the end result. They did a beautiful job. Adding the artificial turf really enhanced the look of the yard along with a few plants. It is a one-of-a-kind design. We couldn't be happier. Overall, I think he gave us quality service and a fair price. We would not hesitate to use him again. read more

This business is awesome. They took out my front lawn and flowerbed, surrounded by very deep cement and slump stone and created a miracle. I now have a beautiful rock and succulent landscape with drip watering. The neighbors love it and I have had gardeners slam on their brakes and stop to take pictures. In addition they installed lights and I will post a picture of that when it gets darker this evening. read more

My wife and I are extremely happy we chose to work with Joel and his team at Bear Republic. They were very punctual and professional, and respected our property and the neighborhood. I had many neighbors comment on their professionalism and ask me for their contact information! One of the things we appreciated the most, is that Joel isn't afraid to share his professional opinions where appropriate. There were numerous instances (design ideas, materials choices) where he talked us into doing something that turned out to be far better than our layperson ideas. We feel that we received exceptional service and an amazing final result for a fair price. Overall, we consider this to be our best experience with a home improvement project to date! read more

What a great company! Joel the owner was very attentive to my initial pool re-plaster job and block wall surround on my rental property that I contracted with him again on several projects on my own home. His prices were very reasonable and his workers on time and very organized and thorough on each project. I had my pool and spa re-plastered and tiled, my bar-b-que rebuilt & retiled, and a beautiful patio 35' long with fans and lighting to shade it. He also built a custom covered patio outside our upstairs master bedroom protected by beautiful decorative rod iron surround. our friends and relatives and our neighbors are simply amazed at the beauty of all the renovation! His ideas for improvement exceeded my expectations. I totally trust him and highly recommend his company. read more

I couldn't be happier with Joel and his team. I am a first time home owner and landscaping was a very daunting and scary task for me - after many quotes from competitors I immediately felt comfortable with Joel, he was able to bring out my vision for my yard that I didn't even know I had and all within my budget. He is very talented, kind, honest and fair. I highly recommend!! read more

My front yard was nicely renovated, received lots of compliments especially the grotto from friends & neighbors.

I'm happy we've found and worked with Bear Republic on our yard design, planting, designing irrigation and lighting. They have since been hired to garden our yard and they've been doing an excellent job maintaining the yard. Their knowledge in irrigation, piping, plumbing, lighting and plants are much appreciated since I just need to notify them any problems we encounter in our large 2 acres yard and they just take care of the rest! Pricing is extremely fair and service is great! read more

Bear Republic turned out to be an excellent choice for landscaping our backyard. Joel went over plans with us very carefully, and he and his crew worked very hard to make it all happen. They always arrived promptly, kept on schedule, and left the site clean and tidy each day. Joel seems like a perfectionist who makes sure everything is just right before the job is completed. When the sod that they installed initially failed to grow, he offered and made arrangements to replace it at no additional charge. He will check with you each step of the way to make sure everything is what you envisioned. read more

After doing a 5 month interior update to the bare studs, we did not want to see another contractor. Everything that could go wrong did. However, had to demo the backyard's old fence and plants and redo with new fencing, plants, drainage, sprinklers, concrete, firepit, patio cover and patio, update barbecue, lighting and of course plants. Received a few bids from landscape folks as well as Bear Republic. We could not have been happier choosing Bear Republic. Best landscape contractor or contractor that we ever worked with. Joel was on time for all appointments, did what he said he was going to do and did it well, VERY WELL. It started with a color landscape design which he modified for us after reviewing. Next he told us when he could start and when he would be finished. He did both as he said. (as mentioned above ,does what he says.) Joel also treats your property as if it was his own and performs as if he was doing it to his own backyard. Very few contractors even consider that approach. Cleaned up after every day and advised daily what was going to happen next. If he didn't like it, he would fix it. If you didn't like it, he would fix it. There is not enough to say about how he treated us and our property. End result is marvelous and we will now begin to enjoy our backyard again. Would recommend Joel and Bear Republic to anybody considering any type of remodel. Oh, by the way, you get all of the above at very competitive pricing. read more
