Well, where to start? The location is fantastic just north of Upland and across the street from the shopping centers. I had always glanced over this location, and on this day happened to be in the market for some soil. The lot was thriving, not too crowded. People were looking about and soon a staff member took the time to show me some of their soil options and potting mixes. I settled on the organic palm and cactus mix. It was not dry upon opening, which I'm glad it was not, so far it's proving to be a fairly good quality. There's still some leftover in the yard. I saw many plants there. They had some pink aloe vera, along with a wide selection of succulents, which was nice to see. I had my eye set on something a little bit different though, an elephant bush. I knew they had some because some of the arrangements included elephant bush. So I just had to ask!Well, to my surprise they were more than happy to give me a longer tour of the southern part of the nursery, where they had far more sizes, big and small. I got to see some gigantic ones that I never expected to encounter in larger pots. Thank you Vic! It goes without saying I was impressed. Speaking about Vic, I just wanna say, many of the staff members were welcoming and went above and beyond to give me what I wanted. I was really impressed with Vic's extensive knowledge on house plants and his ability to help me find the size of this wonderful plant. Where I feel that most sales people would push you to buy a particular one item, Vic offered me choices, which I appreciate 100%. It's safe to say that type of salesmanship demands respect, and I will probably be coming back when I'm ready. Outside of my own personal experience, I noticed they have a variety of pots and fertilizers for all your growing needs. Always nice to see an assortment of pots and accessories for the home garden folk. Furthermore, Vic recommended a fantastic product as an addition to my watering routine, which within days has brought tremendous results. The plants absolutely love it, it amazing to think that this trip offered the plant, the service, and now the reassurance that if ever needed, they will be there to help answering any questions. That's all folks. If you have a problem with your project, there is no doubt they have the personnel to assist. I initially submitted my contact information through their website and received a call back the next day from Anthony. We briefly discussed what I was looking to do in my backyard, and I asked if someone could come out for a site visit to see the space and better understand the project. Anthony scheduled an appointment with me for Monday, August 10 at 11:00 AM. I texted him my address along with several inspiration photos beforehand. Unfortunately, 11:00 AM came and went with no sign of Anthony and no call or text letting me know he was running late or needed to reschedule. I reached out to him to ask if we were still on for that day and never received a response. I still haven't heard from him or anyone else from the company. I understand that schedules change and things come up, but completely missing a scheduled appointment and then not responding at all is disappointing and unprofessional. I'm giving one star because they were initially quick to respond to my inquiry, but unfortunately, the communication ended there. read more

Came to the Standard Design group nursery in hopes of finding some pretty plants that would make for great Christmas presents! I was in luck and found a great variety of indoor and outdoor plants, including a rare variation too (white princess philo)! The atmosphere was calm and clean, just what I want in a garden. Matt helped me pick out some plants to suit different people's needs (i.e. whether someone was just getting into gardening, what's easier to keep alive, etc). He was very knowledgeable and super helpful. So excited to give these out as gifts and will definitely be coming back to shop for myself! Would recommend. read more

Couldn't get a proper written estimate for the work needed. When I insisted on one, they just used ChatGPT and it was not specific at all. He had nothing concrete in the 'estimate' and nothing to go by. I have lived here long enough and lived long enough to know when problems can occur. When I called Chris out on this, he said it was because he didn't want his ideas to be taken elsewhere. Well, I did go elsewhere because even when he resubmitted the estimate there still was nothing to go by, just an overall 'trim tree to make airy' and 'install equipment' well what was the equipment?? Added fun picture. : ) Called them on Wed at 12:00 to see if they had three purple Pilar's in stock. Gentleman wrote down my number and informed me he would check and call me back. ( no call back) Thursday morning at 8:30am. I Left a voicemail and explained I didn't get a returned call and would love to know if you have three purple pillars in stock. Please call me back. ( no call back) I call them again end of day Thursday. Informed gentleman I don't know why companies struggle with such simple things like a returned phone call for client. He said he called me back. Informed him not true. No missed phone call or voicemail from your company. My phone is never off. Then he says, well maybe I dialed the wrong number, it can happen. Haha!!! I've bought from them several times and they have a large option to pick from. Learning lesson though, they do not know how to call people back. This is the first time I purchased any plants from this store. I purchased a total of four plants from this store at a cost of $200+. I took them home but my wife and I didn't like how they looked with our landscape. So I returned them the following morning in the exact same condition as when they were purchased. They were never removed from their pots and never touched any soil or other plants. The store said their policy is "no refunds" because they don't know if the plants were exposed to other pesticides while in my possession. The salesman said this is common with all nurseries. The salesman never explained to me any of this return policy at the time of purchase. However, they did offer me a store credit instead of a refund and still took the plants back. I thought this was highly unusual being that the salesman just said they don't do returns for fear of exposure to other pesticides. If your store still takes back the plants, not knowing whether they were exposed to other pesticides, then why is a "Store Credit" acceptable but a "Full Refund" is against policy? BUYER BEWARE: if your purchase plants at this store and want to return your purchase, then beware that you will only get store credit so that the store can guarantee that you spend your money at their store, whether you need anything else or not. Now I am stuck with a $200+ store credit when I don't need anything whatsoever from this nursery. read more

What a beautiful transformation this new nursery ownership has made. The variation of plants, trees, shrubs, blooming flowers, and succulents is welcoming to the beginner and to the experienced gardener. The sound of the running waterfall on the nursery grounds is just an added serenade to all the rows of outdoor life, at this nursery. They have an assortment of beautifully crafted pots, and planters to select from. There is a very quaint, yet clean indoor retail store space, which has a healthy selection of indoor plants, to boot. I would give zero stars if i could! On December 19, 2024 their designer Chriss Prutsos gave an in home presentation for landscape design of our backyard. He received $3,000.00 check to complete a design plan And as a desposit for future work. He immediately deposited our check while still in our home. He did NOT give us any copy of his contract. We cancelled the contact once we finally received our copy following our legal right of 3 day cancellation . No work Was ever done by Chriss Prutsos or any agent from Standard Design. They do not return phone calls or emails and have not returned our $3,000.00 deposit. Chriss Prutsos is very aggressive and arrogant in his in home sales, but he never did any work, nor did he follow through with cancelling our contract. Beware, he is very high pressure sales, but then you never hear from him! No representative of Standard Design Group has reached out to resolve this matter. read more
