Miso soup
Hailey A.

Came here by myself so I was given the option to sit at either the bar or sushi bar. The bartender was quick to make drinks and she still had time to check on me and take my orders. The miso soup was great and my 3 rolls came out not much longer after my soup! Everything was fresh and tasty. I will warn you if you get the spicy yellowtail roll it is actually hot unlike at other sushi restaurants. There is cucumber in the roll to combat the heat so it's still a tasty option!

Deep sea roll

Absolutely love this place! It is my top choice for Thai and sushi in the surrounding area. The food is always on point. Some of my favorites are the Pad Thai with prawns, Pad Kee Mao, and rainbow roll. My favorite drink to order is the Thai tea. Smiley Thai is consistently good and that is saying something. The staff is always friendly and the interior is quaint. When the weather permits we enjoy sitting at their patio. The parking can be tight at times.

Chicken teriyaki bento box

Food was very fresh. I got chicken teriyaki Bento box and there was plenty of food in that box for two people. The teriyaki sauce was absolutely amazing. Fried rice was good no Complaints the miso soup was great. The service was top match and the ambient of the place. Had a great Japanese vibe. Definitely going back.

Service here is friendly and quick. The place is very open and gives a slight sports bar vibe with the TVs. I'm giving it 4 stars and not 5 because the items on the menu that were supposed to to be spicy had next to no spice in it (the tom yum noodle soup). I got the pad grapow which is a similar dish to what I had Thailand, but again, no spice. It was more sweet than anything. Kind of disappointing to me but others like it.

Potstickers

Loved this sushi spot! Started off with a few apps. Out of the apps my least favorite was the crab Rangoon. The cheese on the inside had the consistency and color of Mac n Cheese and I did not see any crab whatsoever. Pot stickers were the star of the show. The sushi rolls were all amazing and fresh and the mango sticky rice was seriously the best I've ever had. Our server was super attentive and all of our food arrived super fast.

Crab wontons

Went to dinner late on Monday evening and there were three of us. I've been here with my family several times and it is consistently good - both the service and the food. Entree portions are easily shareable as are appetizers. If you want solid Thai food with a nice ambiance, good food and good service, you should try this place. Felt a tiny rushed to finish our food so they could close but it wasn't bad.

We ordered through UberEats. Delivery was fast and these portion sizes did not disappoint. Everything was tasty. No soy sauce was sent, so you may need to request it for to-go orders.

Beef Pad Thai

This was our first time trying here. We walked right in with a pleasant greeting and were sat at a small table. They have an extensive menu and an IPad that shows pictures of all the sushi options which was really great to swipe through. We stuck with ordering Thai food because that was what I was craving! We loved the 3 items we picked, each tasted awesome! The yellow chicken curry was very flavorful and the pad Thai was perfect! The only bad thing was that they were out of mangoes so we couldn't get the mango sticky rice we will definitely be back!

Smiley Thai & Sushi is one of those rare places that gets it right every single time. The food? Incredible. The service? Always warm and attentive. The ambiance? Beautiful and relaxing. Everything on the menu feels intentional and made with love. We had the Pad Thai and the crab curry and let me tell you...that crab curry lives rent-free in my mind. I had it once, thought about it for over a week, went back for it...and then went back again. It's that damn good. Also, do yourself a favor and get the mango sticky rice. Trust me. It's a little gem tucked between Hermitage and Mount Juliet, and I can't recommend it enough.

Especially the red curry was super flavorful. Full of Rich flavor and. Loads of veggies and meat. A 5 stars for that dish. Definitely worth it's money. This is a no-frills, smaller restaurant inside a strip of stores in a questionable-looking area of town. As I parked the car, I thought twice about actually going in, but based on the Yelp reviews, I decided to give it a try. It was clean inside, and, as I mentioned, the service and staff were 5-star! My food was where it went wrong for me. I started with the summer rolls (the ones in rice paper); they serve sushi and Thai food here. I have been craving summer rolls; I love the freshness of the mint and herbs, combined with crunchy peanuts and peanut sauce. However, that fell short for me here. The peanut sauce was reddish and tasted more like ketchup, so that was a letdown. No little peanuts anywhere in the sauce or on the plate. It was jam-packed with iceberg lettuce, which you would typically put on a Taco, so it wasn't very fresh-tasting, and it contained the tiniest piece of shrimp I've ever seen inside. Following my gut, I decided not to order my usual sushi selection, which is always raw, unfried, and unsauced. However, I decided to play it safe, so I opted for a Mexican roll instead. I asked for no eel sauce, but I should have also specified that I wanted spicy mayo on the side. It covered my roll, and I had to use a napkin to remove what I could. This is usually a roll that is around $6 to $10, but for some reason, they were charging $14. They made the rolls bigger, but not by filling them with more shrimp, avocado, etc.; instead, they added more rice. This may be someone's cup of tea, but it wasn't mine, and I won't be back, but wish them the best!

I usually stay away from pho at Thai spots, but my husband ordered it and it was actually really good, with a flavorful broth that surprised us both. My favorite dish of the night was the Panang Curry. I haven't had Thai curry in years because it's been so disappointing in middle TN, but I decided to give this one a shot and I'm so glad I did. It tasted fresh, the sweet coconut milk came through without being heavy, and the chicken was incredibly tender. They don't skimp on meat or portions here - we left full and happy. I got summer rolls & a small veggie Tom Kha Gai soup. I got everything to go. I went to my iron infusion at Vanderbilt Hendersonville then waited until I was hooked up & alone to eat. When I saw my food I was kinda shocked. $20 for about six bites of summer rolls & five to six tablespoon fulls of soup was disappointing. These rolls are the smallest I've ever seen. There was so much rice paper & so little filling! The soup was not a favorite either as it was extremely sweet. Tom Kha can be sweet, but this was like sugary milk water. There were hardly any veggies in the tiny styrofoam cup as well. All in all, the best part of this experience was the lady who took my order. We didn't explore the grocery that much but it seemed like it had a nice balance of dry food goods, refrigerated items, and small objects, mostly either for cooking or the occasional gift. It was clean inside and being a grocery store had a good bit of parking outside. The restaurant is on the far right as you enter. We were greeted warmly and told to seat ourselves. Menus were delivered promptly. I ordered a Thai tea to drink. Hubs got the fried shrimp appetizer and we both chose noodles for lunch; he opted for pad see ew and I got drunken noodles. The restaurant was fairly busy but despite the crowdedness it still felt easy to have conversation with each other. Our food came out quickly but had clearly been cooked fresh. The Thai tea was the one thing that didn't hit at all. It had a very intense flavor that I couldn't quite place compared to all the other Thai teas I've had. Could just be this one is more traditional, lol. But it wasn't quite as sweet as I'm used to and it almost had a subtly salty vibe; I wouldn't get it again. That said, the cooked food items were quite good. The breading on the shrimp was incredibly crispy and even I liked them well enough at first; the flavor was light and the texture not rubbery. We did ultimately realize these shrimp had not been deveined, which is not our preference but I understand it's not a requirement to be able to eat them. The noodle dishes really shone, though. Hubs liked his pad see ew and we both thought my drunken noodles were even better. Lots of tender but still-crisp veggies in both. Strong and pleasantly aromatic basil flavor in mine. Large portion sizes. The noodles were cooked well and were pleasantly chewy. Mine was lightly spicy but nothing intense; I wound up adding more chili oil from the small container on the table. Service was a highlight throughout; the women working were very personable, got us to-go boxes, and were attentive to any other needs we had. Lots of menu choices here and fresh food prepared quickly. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area.
